What a WONDERFUL sound! I wish I could be there to breathe in just a bit of the exhaust... There's nothing like the smell of a two-stroke in the morning!
Absolutely awesome! Re: running rich comments ......If I owned one of these legendary machines I'd be running it rich too. It's not like you can go to your local Yamaha or Suzuki dealer and buy a new top end over the counter!
The sound of that Gamma. It's makes the inline Yamaha sound like a tourer. That 4 chainsaw sound really has no equal I also remember the radiator being notched to clear that front wheel. Side slide carbs and rotary valves. Uncini and Lucchinelli also won world titles on the Gamma
You can! Look up the documentary ...on any Sunday 2... Kenny Robert's and Barry Sheen do talk about their rivalry if u have not " sheen" it yet lol be well friend
Never had a whiff of Maxima Super M. I used to race with Era,[EAST COAST ROADRACING ASSOCIATION] AND AAMRR riding a RD-400 with PJ1 synthetic oil. but my racing partner was a AMA Junior riding a Yamaha TZ 250 Road Racer I usually was on the grid to push start him with 30 or so Road Racers in the field , no silencers then and all burning Castrol R. those Castor Bean fumes lit up your senses like none other.WONDERFUL
I remember the start of the Daytona 200 in 1974. I will never forget the smell of castor bean oil (Castrol). The "smell" of adrenaline, excitement, and fear. Damn..............
I was a fan of both but for me King Kenny and Yamaha for the win. I had a 79 Rd 400 Daytona Special my buddy had an RD 400 ( it wasn't the Special ) anyway we had a whole series of country roads we turned into out own personal race track. Ya, it was stupid riding that hard but we were 19 yeas old and it's a known fact you can't die when you're 19 so....drag that knee :) Good times, I still have that same buddy and we're both 55 now
Usual to 'smoke' when cold but when thoroughly warmed up, engine uses actually very little oil. I got around 600 miles per litre. In 1990 bought one of the last made RG500's CH (1989) Pepsi-Suzuki "Kevin Schwantz" GP Race Replica, Interestingly, the last of the street RG500s (the H model) had almost the same power output as the original works racers!
POOS WEES- They are NOT home made stands. They are correct for the era. By the way how many GP bikes do you have? I bet you have the state of the art Track stand though
E impressionante ver estas imagens não há dinheiro no mundo que consiga comprar estes tesouros. Estas motos foram campeões e eram as melhores equipa daquela época de 500 cc......! Até dói como os anos passam!
Came home to our share house one night. To my considerable surprise there was an RG500 leaning against the wall in the hallway. What happens when you share a house with 3 road racers. Vale Carl Hammersley.
Interesting fact. In 1975 Barry Sheene won the Dutch TT on this bike with a fastest lap of 2.55; subsequent Dutch TTs to 1981 this fastest lap was never beaten!
Dear MCN, how about you start reviewing old bikes, like the Kawasakis zx7, Hondas SP2, CBR 954, old Gixxers, etc. For those of us looking for a used bike it would be great. Thanks, keep up the good work.
I was at Silverstone to watch Sheene and Roberts in that epic grand prix that had such a close finish, these bikes are porn to me you can keep your Debbie does Dallas.
What a WONDERFUL sound!
I wish I could be there to breathe in just a bit of the exhaust... There's nothing like the smell of a two-stroke in the morning!
“ That smell, that two stroke smell. It smells like, Victory! “
Best UA-cam video I’ve ever seen in ten years. Push starting those beautiful two strokes and hearing them fire really made me smile. Thanks
Absolutely awesome!
Re: running rich comments ......If I owned one of these legendary machines I'd be running it rich too.
It's not like you can go to your local Yamaha or Suzuki dealer and buy a new top end over the counter!
too rich is not good for a 2 cycles too,,,bad for the lower end of the engine.raise to much compression,,blows crank seal
Spark plugs are cheaper than classic GP bikes ridden by the legends , correct?
Great point spark plugs are cheaper than a seized motor
@@gervaisfillion9417 correct
The engine is cold don't forget in these shots
love the sound of the 2 stroke

I had an RD400 Daytona Special years ago... Engine sounded the same... Great little Cafe Racer.
Iconic in the world of biking
No 7 for ever Barry 💫
Wow, I can only imagine the smell of those things!
Such beauty! They look absolutely tiny compared to contemporary bikes!
So much better looking than modern bikes, too.
Fantastic ! I can almost smell them 2 stroke fumes. Back in the 60's the 2 strokes were common place. Thanks a lot.
It would have been nice to hear the impressions from the riders on each bike.
You can! Look up the documentary ...on any Sunday 2... Kenny Robert's and Barry Sheen do talk about their rivalry if u have not " sheen" it yet lol be well friend
You can also see Kenny ride the tz750 at the Springfield... look it up I don't think you'll be mad... I dare you haa
Seriously MCN need to kick this into a full TV Series cause i dont think theres a serious show about motorcycles!
I watched those two gentlemen racing at Silverstone. Racing Gods!
All that noise and smoke...... Lovely tribute to two iconic riders and machines , top of their game at the time

Me too back at Summit Point! Remember Richard Chambers and his TZs? RIP Dr. Peter Frank.
I was a fan of both but for me King Kenny and Yamaha for the win. Man, you MCN guys have all the fun!

Explosive. Just extraordinary.
this came up in my recommendations in 2020!!!
it means they have to be ridden again this year!!
I hope those guys know how freaking lucky they are to get to ride those bikes !!
I watched in 1978 at siverstone and their closest finish in 1979 great sound to remember
POOS WEES- They are NOT home made stands. They are correct for the era. By the way how many GP bikes do you have? I bet you have the state of the art Track stand though
Hey I pump my air mattress up the same way! Have been since 1990.. what a beautiful machine
E impressionante ver estas imagens não há dinheiro no mundo que consiga comprar estes tesouros. Estas motos foram campeões e eram as melhores equipa daquela época de 500 cc......! Até dói como os anos passam!
Good to see you still around smokin bees...
My heart is a 2 strokes.
those good old times
The guy at 0:18 has a grin like Barry Sheene ... a great tribute!
Tuned rich to preserve an ancient racing monument and artifact. You yabos.
Plus, UA-cam wasn't around when these bikes were. It would be just plain COOL to watch these reviews.
Man, this is just a feel good video! Makes me feel like a kid again :)
Damn that was short
I just stumbled across this - you lucky lucky pair !
Came home to our share house one night. To my considerable
surprise there was an RG500 leaning against the wall in the hallway. What happens when you share a house with 3 road racers. Vale Carl Hammersley.
Beautiful production!!
Love good old 2 stroke, would be nice to have some on board footage.
I can almost smell the two-stroke... fantastic
A little rich…
Thanks for the video!
Mixing gas and kicking ass!!!
That would be a good t-shirt slogan!
I ran that is my JS550 jetski... Loved it.
Interesting fact. In 1975 Barry Sheene won the Dutch TT on this bike with a fastest lap of 2.55; subsequent Dutch TTs to 1981 this fastest lap was never beaten!
How much Fun was that!!!! What a great job, any openings?
you can hear how untamed the suzi was . Barry the Man
GLORIOUS‼️
Também já vi a moto do uncini e absolutamente incrível. Obrigado por me proporcionarem estas imagens!
Well that XR sounded about 5 jets too rich, or maybe the plugs hadn't recovered from that dousing... Is there more to this?
Dear MCN, how about you start reviewing old bikes, like the Kawasakis zx7, Hondas SP2, CBR 954, old Gixxers, etc. For those of us looking for a used bike it would be great. Thanks, keep up the good work.
Awesome. I was lucky enuf to own a 84 yellow n black RZ350 I bought in 2005. Weak weak version of the GP bikes but still..
Best sound and smell in the world !
Legends... king Kenny made YAMAHA RD a hit back in his day...
Hate 2 strokes, but loved this. Where's the rest of the footage and review?!?
I love this engine!
one of the best sounds in the world
wow !!!when that sound made my day
GAAHHHH! we need more 2 stroke in this world!
A taste of great motorcycles.
I miss my RD350 LC ypvs 😔
simply awesome!
the fantastic emotional highlight of seeing the most wonderful bike in the history of mankind is tarnished by a suzuki.
Just 1 word: Badass!
good to see Sheenes early Suzi. The Roberts bike looks later, about '81?
2 strokes are an advantage on the track, you can blind and suffocate your competitors with blue smoke
Never got it on the pipe!!!
I have a dream...a silver dream machine.
Nice but hell...those two strokes where really smocky!
God I wish this video was longer...
One lap on those put out more pollutants than 15,000 miles in a Prius.... and damn it, theyre awesome bikes for it
Who are there people and why aren't Kel or Knobby here to look after there priceless gem stones???!!!
Thanks
2 strokes are king! As were the riders.
LEGENDARY
RIP Barry Sheene!!!
Totally agree!
Why does it always look so damn cold in these MCN Videos ?
Why didn't you use roller starters?
Both of those bikes started to come on the boil at about 9,000 revs. Neither came close in this video
thumbs up for built-in paddock stand. i`d like to have one on my suzi rf900 ;-)
2 strokes for life
we wish....
accelerating and shifting up in a turn prevent the foot from touching the ground.
They knew how to make a bike beautiful back then
I wana see what lap times these bikes run on modern tires!
2 Stroke Forever :-) Time to come back for street bikes
Ypvs was the best
What has michael got on his head before he puts his lid on?
Entry-level chainsaw juggling!
Dois mitos em cima de 2 UFOS.Gosto muito disso.LAGUNA SC BRASIL-28-04-2017
Of course, what was expensive yesterday can be produced far more cheaply today.
Two Strokes Forever !!
props for using an old school foot pump to inflate the tires.
クラシカルな2ストローク500CCマシンですね。パワーは110馬力ほどか。今のMotogpと比べたら半分も無いパワーだけど、ピーキーでパンチ力があるマシンなんでしょうね。
damn that thing has power son
Geiler Zweitackt Sound
They are running them very rich. Even so what polluters! Too bad, those were the best sounding GP bikes ever.
What must they have sounded like in their day, without the mufflers ?
I was at Silverstone to watch Sheene and Roberts in that epic grand prix that had such a close finish, these bikes are porn to me you can keep your Debbie does Dallas.
Like Casey said..If you let us race a 750cc two stroke..maybe I come back !! bring it on ...
Bat that 2stroke smells amazing!
Hey I feel special now...my bike is about as hard to start as those two...and blows about as much smoke...not quite the same performance...
Why the suzuki rider is keeping his left knee outwards all the time?
Barry Sheene and Kenny Roberts bikes puttering around... eventually. (Lovely bikes though).
Intimidating bikes, that's for sure.
Whoa!
