Hi Alan. Long haul truck driver /livaboard sailor here. Ive been on your meal plan in my peterbuilt now for a month. The rice cooker works well for this omelet. I feel amazing. Thanks. Chris
That's great to hear Chris, thanks for sharing! There's a lot of info on UA-cam about eating Keto/Carnivore. Send another update in a few weeks if you can.
What a beautifully constructed sailing voyage with so streamlined, efficient and seemingly easy reflections of operational content which generally is very hard to manage and process. Alan, you have proofed having inner capacity and determination transfered to practical functionality. So easy for you, unavailable for most, due reasons and excuses we just create by ourselves. If we have will and God's calling to it, nothing is impossible. Thank you for being there and sharing your success with us! Your friend, Janne 👋👍🙏
Hi Allan - nice comments about the milky way. I remember a very similar experience in the mountains of NZ. It was a crystal clear night and I looked up and saw, as you did, for the first time the milk way with no light pollution. So many stars that they appeared as a cloud. I became acutely aware of my own insignificance in the universe - no more, or less important than a spec of dust. Enjjoy the solitude!
Love that the other ship checked in on you 💙 he wasn’t very chatty though - I was expecting a big conversation since you’re both out on this big ocean - I guess he’s not sailing alone though! Crack on takes in another whole meaning with you lol 🍳
Allan, Your videos constantly make me realise that I really should have 'forged a few more adventures' when I was younger. At 76 I feel it's probably a little too late. However, we do occasionally breakfast on Wave Rover sea food omelette, yes, you're right, it's delicious. What a mighty little ship she is.
I did not cross an ocean, but I spent four months sailing alone on the Gulf. Enough time to appreciate the beauty of the skies, sunsets, winds, and the sea.🌍
Alan which vessel do you feel safer in, your first steel vessel you built or your plywood vessel and were there any advantages from one to the other? That omelette is making me hungry 👍
That was great! I really enjoyed images of the wake from 17:00 (good choice of music to go with it btw), felt like being there. Do you think Wave Rover II would keep up with the Contessa 26 on a passage like that?
Enjoyed this. A few simple questions... Your Eggland's Best Large eggs are HUGE compared the the Eggland's Best Large eggs we get here in SE Louisiana. What is your secret? Also, these eggs are always refrigerated when we buy them. How do you prepare them for long term storage without refrigeration?

Alan, you need to get some variety in your diet! The first sixteen times you showed making the seafood omelette was interesting. Now, I am more worried for your sanity! How about some beans and rice? Take Care!
At first glance his omelette seems a very unbalanced meal to have every day, but I think Alan has carefully researched the ingredients and he does seem to thrive on it. Rather him than me . . .
I am getting more and more confused ! So this is your 5th day at sea after leaving Horta at the Azores. But when did you actually leave Horta ? I know, fife days ago, but a sailor always wants to know the exact date, like today is the 10/12/2024, I am quite shure that your followers would like to know, too. Re reefing- i watched a video on a vessel which got into trouble. It was what I call a “mega yacht”. Custom built expedition vessel of about 70ft. Cruising at 10-20knots. Everything was latest tech as you can imagine. They were in the Carribean and a Hurricane warning was issued so they decided to race away north. The husband and wife took on 2 extra crew. Anyway. They got hit by a freak storm that wasnt on radar or predicted. It was night, from what I watched they had too much sail, they struggled to reef because the wind pressure was so great the electric winches werent powerful enough. The boom broke free swinging violently knocked the wife out with severe injuries. Husband begins shouting in German which the other crew didnt understand. Boom thrashing and he gets knock out breaking his leg and bleeding profusely. The 2 crew assist the husband and wife. They use a sat phone but it links to Germany not the USA=delay in the destress call. By this stage the sails had shreded, they get the boat under engine power but a rooe got caught in the prop.. The story goes on. Sadly the husband and wife succumbed to their injuries. My question was- is a boat of that size too big for 2 and even 4 isnt enough in extreme conditions. They werent prepped ie hope for the best plan for the worst. Lastly it was apparent the 2 crew were unfamiliar with the boats systems My point in all my waffle is. You seem to prep well ahead which is great. A smaller vessel is a safety feature in itself and technology isnt always your friend
All my voyages have been on 26ft and under. Smaller is safer under so many conditions, especially for the solo sailor, but the motion can be more severe
Also has to be said, even just plain boiled they are nice. Red ones like. Super simple but I get the impression that nobody is listening 😆. I'm off to eat pigs in blankets with cheesy baked beans with Mr Naga pickle mixed in. Google will enlighten you 😎

Most household salt already has iodine. Iodized salt.
I'm aware of that but typical salt is low quality and the iodine is too low
Doesn’t the canned fish still have iodine in it?
What about other vitamins like vitamin C? I’m assuming your voyages are short enough to avoid scurvy
Haven't had any vit C in a year. No plant foods at all other than what you might find in the odd Guiness
Alan, I'm fascinated by the OMAD diet. Have you calculated the calorific quantity/amount of that super meal? I'd be interested in knowing.

Expire dates are very conservative with its estimation (local laws etc) and for salts it usually the plastic container that the expire date is for.
How does the Mk 3 handle direct downwind?
I have used it downwind but depending on the sea you can get thrown off course. As a result I prefer to head a few degrees up and sail on a broad reach

Lugol's formulation is the correct form. I use the J Crow brand as it is easy to find on Amazon
How thick is the plywood on your hall?
9mm or 3/8
That’s not very thick for the pounding you took on the open Sea
@leolombard6975 it's encapsulated in epoxy and then glassed. It's much stronger than you might think.
