I think the monthly events roblox is hosting is a fun thing. It's very sad that people are unhappy because of their nostalgia. And the live ops feature had a lot of potential, its sad to see it was cancelled.

Its like a rotting animal body. Bugs eating at it until its nothing but bones. Its why I've been playing other games. I've just lost hope for roblox. You can't even search for good games anymore unless you look at youtube.
I like that Roblox is at least trying, but honestly the current events are just random games with a random "theme" slapped onto them. At least it's better than Live-Ops.
I'm saying this cause I was genuinely so excited for The Classic, only for them to include.. Toilet Tower Defense in it.

Yeah I don’t have hopes for the Classic event. I checked the list of confirmed games for the event and literally none of them are classic, Toilet Tower Defense will be in the event. Come on roblox! Atleast include actually classic games like Work at a Pizza Place. This is some "so retro" ass crap.

@@MADRIDFACTOS912 Well, putting them in the game list would make players join those games for the sake of getting the badge, and sometimes, they might even get hooked to the game. Roblox isn't even giving them that chance, games like Work At A Pizza Place are classics in the community, but for new players and users, I highly doubt they even know about or have tried it, bec it gets no promotion. We don't see it on the front page, and it's pretty obscure now.
I guarantee you if Roblox stopped promoting garbage games and simulators, and actually used the discover page for underrated and classic games going into obscurity, they would be revived/grow bec new people get the chance to try it out and determine if it is for them or not. In this situation, these games are dying bec there is a huge chunk of Roblox that has not been exposed to it, and Roblox is the only one at fault for that, being unable to maintain their classic games.
Btw, updates only matter to current players. New players have more than enough content to explore in classic games, and even a momentary revival can give a game a decent playerbase. Take a look at some anime games, they have tightly-knit small communities, but stay relatively afloat and have a playerbase in the 500s. That is bec some people are genuine new fans after playing the game, and others are veteran players. Eventually, all games will lose players and popularity, but when it can be prevented with simple promotion, only Roblox is at fault for failing to do so. They wanna promote Toilet Tower Defense which is like the 500th TD-inspired game on Roblox and a complete waste of time, but not actually good games that require skill and have unique concepts.

Been around since 2010 and I actually have zero expectations for The Classic to be worthwhile, especially since it's already looking to be the Roblox equivalent of the "SO RETRO" meme. You'd think an event like this would specifically pander to folks like myself who joined prior to 2015 or so, but frankly it seems more like key jangling for folks who glamourize old Roblox yet joined after 2019.
It's just modern stuff, cash grab or sim games etc like a lot that was featured in the hunt with a classic look slapped onto it basically. Also if the two 19k bundles they recently released for this are anything to go by then my hopes aren't high when it comes to the regular prizes we will get.

Really, I feel older Roblox is characterized more by a lot of games feeling more sincere thanks to less of a real-world profit incentive. You still had shameless clickbait, asset-flipping, and people trying to run scams even back then, but this was all before DevEx was more prevalent and the thought of making a living off their Roblox games hardly crossed anyone's mind.

I've been playing since '16 and I am pretty sure there just going to have new games reskin to look old. Idk why the hype is so outrageous. Btw the newer players aren't glorifying the old Roblox days, it actually was pretty damn good.
It's much more fun finding Alvin and the Chipmunks just to get free hats in Roblox High School instead of playing a random game that you won't be coming back ever again.

Hearing "Live-Ops" after 5 years gave me PTSD
I was thinking about how many original classic games are either dead or broken by updates, and ways that roblox could still make an event that gets off the idea of classic roblox.
Because, really, they don't actually have to add the _original_ classic games. There are plenty of game formulas that still work today, even if the original is long gone.
Some ideas I had:
- Obbys, tycoons, elevators, robloxia, paper rp, dodgeball, speeding wall, speedrun, cart rides, boat/plane builders, paintball, swordfighting, sandboxes, build to survive, just to name a few game types they could use.
- Make sure the games have simple gameplay, no flashing icons begging for you to buy a gamepass, no popups, just game.
- Feature some old roblox emulators like retrostudio or classicblox
- Contact some of the creators of old classic games to see if they'd be willing to update (or get help updating) depreciated code and feature their games
- Fuck it, pizza place, disaster survival, and apocalypse rising are still up and kicking, add them!
- Literally just don't feature a skibidi toilet game in their roster

as a person that became a self aware roblox player in 2021 i can confirm old egghunts was very fun
I joined roblox in 2016 and despite barely playing egg hunts 2017-2019 i still miss them. I feel like roblox has gone down the drain after the live-ops stuff and hasn't really managed to recover since.
I’m not an OG as someone who joined roblox in late 2018, but the last egg hunts we got give me a bit of nostalgia, especially TDS in egg hunt 2020. Though 2018-2019 roblox was just as bad as the roblox we have now, only good thing we had back then that we don’t have now are public audios and the oof death sound effect

Honestly, Live-Ops could have been a really good feature *in addition* to normal events. I know many people, including me, have trouble finding new games to play, and this could have been what we really needed.

@@SomeGuy-kj8dp good examples of good dev hunts are rb battles season 2 and 3, I never heard anything that bad from them besides shopping wars, probably because the RB hosts actually give them time to make an quest thats good.

another problem is that the quality of each one is dependent on the game, so some will be pretty good while others are "sit in the game for 15 minutes"

this is how money ruins a person. first they were all good and players liked playing roblox, but after that money came rolling in, they wanted more so they started becoming greedy

Despite The Hunt and The Classic not being as good as previous events, its good to see that Roblox is atleast trying. They were never gonna get it right the first time but steadily they might be improving and getting better as time goes on

One of the games I saw on the featured page before is now DCMA'd because starbreeze, (the creators of Pay Day 2) got new employees and they thought that Notoriety shouldn't be on roblox. Not something you really needed to know since its offtopic, but a pretty fun game removed which I'm upset of :(

Funnily enough, there's a new version of live ops in todays world, with the exact same system as before, but no one really wants it gone since it doesn't replace events and there are some really fucking good games on there.

Ive been playing since 2016 too but didn't know about this either cuz I hardly played evets and didn't even know Roblox did Halloeen events.
After seeing some proposed games and the evidence for those games being in The Classic.
I have a small hunch that Roblox is using nostalgia bait to shove out another half assed event.

Nowadays, I don't really partake in many I these Roblox annual events as I'm not really a sucker for the themes of such events that they hold or just finding random UGC. However, I might actually partake in this classic event as I like the feel they are going for. Live Ops was definitely worse. Nostalgic Roblox is really peak.

I’m my opinion, LiveOps definitely ruined Roblox. There’s no doubt that with the disastrous dev hunts and the sponsored events that came later would sum up Roblox’s corporate strategy than interacting with the community. But in the end, Roblox never fails to disappoint then, and still does now (sort of).
i’m late but once I seen that there wasn’t a single “classic” game in the event, I stopped playing immediately. i’m tired of the cash grabs. if you want me to play, make it worth it and make sure the games fit the theme.
Good overview. In the end, Roblox is doing the right thing now, so if you roast them for changing to do what you want, it's unfair. Cause we have to reward them a bit now at least for trying to go the right direction. Just hope that this trend continues and they focus on having fun and making cool stuff that the players will love
I don’t care about the games in these dev hunts anymore. I’m only doing them for the prizes. There’s a difference between fun adventures to get items, and playing cashgrab games for less than 7 rewards, keeping in mind that I would probably only use ONE of them more than once.

Roblox changed once in 2023, and will never be the same as it is before no matter how hard they try.
Wdym 2023? Roblox changed for the worse way before that...
- The Hunt and Classic event both are flops or will be a flop in the case of the Classic event (2024)
- Public UGC is catastrophic with 0 moderation (2024)
- Robux prices increased making free UGC limiteds unaffordable (2024)
- Metaverse nonsense is back (2024)
- UGC limiteds dropped which ruined actual Roblox limiteds with all these blatant copies (2023)
- Audios were deleted bec of copyright, when Roblox is rich enough to buy some music label permissions and let their users play music, which basically killed the boombox gears (around 2021-2022)
- Metaverse Champions was a middle finger to Egg Hunts and a disgraceful Rthro dev hunt (2021)
- So many branded events like Gucci and random concerts like Ava Max which sucked (2020-2022 ish)
- Last Egg Hunt event, was subpar too (2020)
- Rthro nonsense was pushed forward by David Bastardzucki (2019-2020)
- UGC released, both a blessing and a curse, seeing all it has brought upon in present day (2018)
2017 was the last good year for Roblox, maybe 2018 if you only look at the good aspects of UGC releasing. After that, everything went to shit, starting with the deletion of Egg Hunts, community events being overshadowed by corporate brand promotion events, and Rthro being introduced in this Metaverse concept.

Not gonna lie I hope they do more than a dev hunt with the classic even, but tbh dev hunts do make a lot of sense considering Roblox is all about trying out other peoples games. I do agree that the dev hunts need more quality control though, so hopefully this event only has original high quality games.
