Exploring all the stages to see how far I could get into unreachable areas. Also dying.. A lot. My kid brain found most of the later missions extremely difficult. Still love the game, and I hold my scratched to hell childhood copy with pride.
I think the one core memory I have of Sunshine was I swear me and my cousin were playing, we grabbed the Noki Bay Blue Coin where it crashed the game. We both looked at eachother and decided to play Spyro 3 instead.
Whoa, I know some other people think Sunshine’s controls are bad too, but they’re Iike the best part of the game. Mario’s movement is fast and unhinged and I love it to death. Easily the best controls he had until Odyssey.
Hey! I got a shoutout in a Cooper video! I’ve finally made it! I’m gonna try and keep this message as short as I can-I love Mario Sunshine so much and I can’t fully express how much it means to me with just one paragraph. Ironically, you and I are polar opposites: where you grew up with Mario 64 and developed a strong personal attachment to it, I developed that same connection with Mario Sunshine. It was the primary game my family and I would play together when I was a child, and so many familial memories belong to it. Even despite its flaws, I just love Mario Sunshine for everything that it is… even the parts that are unanimously panned, such as the Blue Coins. Nothing comes close to the nostalgia and joy I feel towards Mario Sunshine. It’s so much more to me than just my favorite Mario game, and I’m really glad you got to experience it yourself. Looking forward to your next review!
"sometimes he just falls off" shows footage of Mario falling after the block side he was on was at almost 90o. Spider-man... that's the game you might wanna try out for that
I have been waiting for this review! This is easily one of my favorite games of all time - I almost have to reply it every Summer just to get the vacation vibes going On the objective side, there are tons of things about the game that make if somewhat flawed but I don't really care; to me - 3D Mario is at its peak when playing SMS. His controls are nigh perfect Keep up the vids Coop! You're currently my favorite video game reviewer right now! super mario sunshine(2002) is my favorite 3D mario game i remember getting sunshine for my 5th birthday in 2003 and playing this game a lot that year that year i also got mario kart double dash in christmas 2003(which is my favorite mario kart game) and when i played double dash i always found the peach beach susnhine references so cool i remember in summer 2007 i 100% sunshine and then in summer 2019 i 100% sunshine again honestly after 100% sunshine it's really cool to go into all the levels and walk around the levels and have fun in them especially pinna park which is my favorite area in sunshine my favorite secret shine is trying to destroy all the boxes in isle delfino as fast as possible(two times) its the one area by all the toads there is a really cool detail in pinna park when you go to the level there is a boat in the ocean by the place where you enter the area at another really cool thing is that once you collect enough shines you can go back to the level you first started at i always found that so cool. great review of my favorite 3d mario game super mario sunshine
This game is a freaking nightmare to get all 120 shine sprites… but I still love Sunshine for what it is and it’s nowhere near as miserable as getting 101% in Donkey Kong 64… DK64 ptsd kicking in 😢
what i always do to deal with the blue coins as someone who has 100% sunshine atleast 3 times is i find as many as i can myself then look up a youtube video showing all of the locations and watch it at 2x speed to find the ones i missed
Ugh as much as I actually love DK64, now that I’m an adult, I find it completely annoying-almost unbearable-to play. There really is such thing as TOO many collectibles. However I still wouldn’t mind a remaster of it, like 3D All Stars
@@ohhReina Banjo Kazooie perfect the collecthathon with that game. It’s challenging but it never felt tedious collecting everything. In fact it flows extremely well when collecting everything.
I love this game. I never understood the hate for it. It's like even back then when populare game IPs tried to be more ambition people still hated it. But when those same IPs go back to the norm, people still HATE on it. It's like people wanna be miserable and boring
What the hell so they drew the line when Mario talked, but we’re fine with bowser and the pianta talking that would’ve been so cool to have Mario talking in sunshine.😮💨🍄
Only played this as recently as Mario All Stars 3D, or whatever it was called. Got as far as the flying eagle thing and got so annoyed that I didn't touch it again. Got pre-occupied with Galaxy which became one of my favourite games ever.
I would love this game if it weren’t for a few specific required missions. I like the Chucksters in regular stages, but the one Pianta village stage is awful
29:25 we DO have a clue. Scrapped text in the game highlights the original mission objective, that being the search for the hidden book. I guess red coins were faster to code or deemed more interesting gameplay wise...
I never understood the hate for the voice acting in Sunshine. It's not even bad. It fits the character nicely. I just some of you just expected too much or just not use to voice acting in Mario games aside from grunts
If I could give constructive criticism on the video, I think you bring up points you'll touch on later in the video too often. Other than that fun retrospective!
I really don't like this game like for example Rico Harbert why the fuck its this second world in the game. look how Nero skinny these rolls are this suppose the be one of the beginning stages
What's a core memory you guys have with Super Mario Sunshine????

when I reached 98 shinesprites, my brother hid my memory card because we thought something special would happen after getting 100
I hated this game as a kid and returned it to GameStop 3 times because of The Goopy Inferno.
Wanting to throw my gamecube controller across the room because of the stages where your flood is taken away

They removed the long jump because of the hover nozzle
also the spin jump works as another long jump replacement.

Hot take, I wish Mario and Luigi talked.
The gibberish is funny, but I kinda like hearing/reading Mario and Luigi talk more.
"sometimes he just falls off" shows footage of Mario falling after the block side he was on was at almost 90o. Spider-man... that's the game you might wanna try out for that
I always loved Sunshine when it came out. It was one of the main games my brother and I shared

playing the game lol, the nostalgia i get from it is so surreal since my brother and i used to obsessively play it all day
Finally someone mentions the absence of the backflip other than the long jump
+1 for sirena beach. 10/10 level
Sunshine is a guilty pleasure of mine.
I mean it's not a bad game

Super Smash Bros Melee is not the Gamecube launch title that goes to Luigi's Mansion

Lol I totally forgot about that Smash Bros commercial until you brought it up and unlocked my memory!

I think this was going to be a game at some point. It kept on being said it would come out back in the day.
Only played this as recently as Mario All Stars 3D, or whatever it was called. Got as far as the flying eagle thing and got so annoyed that I didn't touch it again. Got pre-occupied with Galaxy which became one of my favourite games ever.
That’s it? That was the 120 Shine Sprite ending, that was just a cheap postcard! Grrrrrr Mario betrayed us!
I just 100ed sunshine last weekend. First game iv completed since 99. I dedicated it to my cat who passed.😊

Funny how you released this RIGHT BEFORE the release of Super Mario Eclipse.
perfect 2am drunk bday upload
Ah man, that Blooper segment reminded me of Ryan's *really* bad luck on BrainScratch. XD

think im the only one alive who loved the voice acting in this game 😂
crazy how they removed the flibber bizzerd nozzle
Did Mario ever get cleared of his crimes or something, or does he still hold some sort of criminal record?
The Poison River Level is a Nightmare to Beat
I'm sad we didn't get more voice acting tho
I never understood the hate for the voice acting in Sunshine. It's not even bad. It fits the character nicely. I just some of you just expected too much or just not use to voice acting in Mario games aside from grunts
Yeah, I guess they just sorta gave up on the framing Mario story halfway through.
