After uploading some UA-cam shorts about the failed water Pump on my 1968 Aston Martin DBS quite a few of you e-mailed me asking for more information about the work I was doing to repair my existing damaged pump. I hope you enjoy this progress report as the pump is nearing completion. I'm looking forward to getting out and about in the car again. Thanks for looking

How satisfying to repair something properly and to see that the failure was caused by poor workmanship and not any design deficiency. Excellent. 😊
A bit like the older railway items, these things were over engineered so they cope better with lack of maintenance or abuse. I'm sure it will function well now, I just need to finish cutting out this gasket I'm making. Take care, all the best to you
Unbelievable state the old pump was in , excellent video of how to do it correctly, I hope you can find the time to film more work on your classic cars .
All the best Martin 👍
Thanks for the positive response to this video, I hope to post a few updates from time to time. Take care, all the best to you
Thanks for a very interesting video. My son restores pr-war Astons for a living but did his apprenticeship on post war types. Beautiful cars!
It's good to hear that your son works on the excellent older Astons. I hope he would approve of my repair. All the best to you
JMB Services does an uprated water pump kit or new casting complete.
I have that on my DBS engine,,along with their head gasket modifications. Very happy with my temps.
Nice video, and good luck from a fellow DBS man.
Cheers
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. That's great information about that company, thank you. I filmed more footage of the completed rebuild but as yet have not had time to sort out an upload. The car is now back on the road and the rebuilt pump is running well. I swapped over to a composite head gasket a few years ago and have found it much better than the copper ones. I have a slightly cooler thermostat on the recommendation of a friend and my engine is running at lovely temps even in stop start queues and hot ambient temperatures. there are a couple of recent pictures on my Instagram page, the link is on my UA-cam home page. It would be great to see a picture of your car, here's an email info@snoozevideo.co.uk Take care, all the best to you
Very interesting. I like older cars but haven't the facilities or skill to do that kind of thing. My present car is a 20 year old Mercedes SL (R230 model) which is a fantastic piece of engineering and well ahead of its time (IMHO). Intrigued as to what's on the ramp above the Aston!
What a great car you have, my brother had the SL350 2004 and really loved it. Thanks for looking, all the best to you
You could get bearing greasers, they were a grease filled cylinder with a piston with a hole & taper so took a range of sizes, per size. Pushing down in the inner race with a taper plunger, the grease would go round the shields of the inner race. Non shielded being much easier.
Sounds like something designed to make a job easier and cleaner, unfortunately I don't have one so greasy fingers it is. Best regards to you
Enjoyable to eaves drop on the Aston but I'll stick to my railway bits and bobs lol.
Thanks for looking, there will be more vintage railway action soon, best regards to you
Just so you know aston martin is starting to manufacture new oem parts for old astons
Great to hear, thanks for mentioning this, all the best to you
I can see that this car was was at auction in October 1989.
Thanks for watching. I got this in 2004 and only have brief history before then. It would be great if you could share with me the information you have. Take care, all the best to you
Is it chroo that the reason you spend so much time in the garage and in the out-of-house train room, is that Mrs. Snooze graciously invited you OUT! of the kitchen?
Always have a mobile phone handy for help; yes, I'm learning.

Hello, I'm mainly banned from the kitchen with anything work or fun related. I don't mind though as I'm still allowed in for food and drink. All the best to you
@@MrSnooze A wise man advised to not respond till the third call; you get given a job to do. Good advice.
Enjoy trip to Austria.
The previous work on the water pump looks like I did it 🥴
Ha, so you own up to it then, don't worry, it'll be ok now. Thanks for looking, all the best to you
