Working at In-N-Out the question "would you like onion" is the most efficient way to ask someone if they wanted tomato. More people ask for "No Tomato" after that question than people saying "Yes I'd like tomato" it's really funny
As a former In N Out employee my biggest pet peeve was when someone order is when people say “burger” or “single” it’s too vague and it’s important to know if you want cheese or not. This also extends to saying “protein burger” or “animal burger” because I always have to explain that protein style and animal style is a add-on and not a burger by itself. And it just makes the order take more time and more frustrating. I also hated people that would say #5 or #7 when we literally have 3 combos. Honestly don’t know how people can get confused over the simplest menu
So former In-N-Out employee here. We have 4 questions we ask people when we take orders 1. Do you want onions 2. Do you want fries 3. Did you want anything to drink 4. Did you want it to go? And they ask if you want it to go via the drive through because if you ask for the car they give you a box so its easier to eat, and a little paper mat in case you spill. As for orders you almost got all of them, something you can do is actually add whole grilled onions, you can ask them to cut the burger in half, and you can add chilies to your burger. Animal Style consists of mustard frying the burger while it is on the grill, adding pickles, grilled onions and extra spread on top of the lettuce. You also dont pay for the veggies on the burger, so for example you can actually get a double double with extra everything adding grilled onions and chilies and it would be the same price as a double double plain. Can also ask for 3x2 and 4x2, as well as 2x3 and 2x4s. And can get just 4 meat on a burger, and a grilled cheese with 4 cheese. You can ask for your buns extra toasted, or with no toast. You can also ask for the bun on the side as well. You can get cold cheese on a burger. There's tons of stuff you can do with the burger! Animal fries are delicious, you can ask them to layer the cheese, by having one slice of cheese under some fries and the second one on top, you can also get up to two extra cheese on your animal fries as well. You can also ask for cheese fries. You can even get a whole grilled onion on your animal fries. You can get animal fries well done, or even extra well done. You can get them cooked lighter than usual. We had a customer who asked for a 15 minute fry (normal fries take about 5 minutes to cook) almost every day. I wouldnt recommend eating a grilled cheese from there if you are avoiding meat, they place the cheese on the same grill they use to cook the meat. So cross contamination...
im so sad they didnt try the chopped chilies. having those on your burger is an absolute game changer. double double with mustard fried patties, chopped chilies, and grilled onions is one of the best burgers ive ever had
I also use to work at Innout (5 years started when I was 18 fresh outta HS) all I can say if the pay is shit for the work you do and the customers you deal with, long ass shifts with late closing, managers are horrible at their job and the best of the people there end up leaving or not being seen by management and ignored, other than that the food is still one of my favorite meals I get here and there

In-N-Out is consistent and provides a good value for the price. If you want a burger that’s significantly better than a Big Mac for about 2/3 the price, that’s where you go. Fries are mid.
Almost the exact same price for a double double and a big mac, except one doesn't come with a 40 minute line for mediocre food like In N Out :D Wayyyy overhyped.
@@subterfugue Five Guys is pretty unanimously agreed to be a great burger, but is also by far the most expensive. Habit is a semi-fast food joint mainly on the west coast with some on the east coast, and is my go to when I want a burger with a little more quality but still at a reasonable price.
@@subterfugue I'm gonna be real with you, it's literally 100% dependent on where you live. I have a few REALLY dope fast food places nearby for McDonalds, Whataburger, and Burger King but you could go somewhere else and get a mediocre experience. Also as an employee of In-n-out for almost 4 years. Having the quality of food and it all being freah. We can’t make the food last as long. Its meant to be eaten soon after prepared. So if you get it to go and you live a decent distance away from In-n-out i would recommend eating their or on your way home, to get the beat experience and taste.
I feel like one thing people always forget is that when you make a bulk order like this, the quality of all of the food you get goes down compared to just ordering 1 or 2 burgers. The workers see a massive order like this, get fed up, and rush through all of them. That’s why a lot of them look slapped together with too much lettuce or too little of something else.
There's a good chance I'll never have in n out in my life but as a root beer/float lover I'm really curious about that root beer float shake now. Did they hate it because it's root beer, which seems to mostly be just an american thing, or is it actually just bad? also I want the fattiest fast food I can find now and it's 4am and I've already eaten
@@DarkenedVibe Root Beer can be a little too sweet sometimes but I think Barq’s is pretty good. It probably is a acquired taste but I think it’s mostly what brand you prefer
If you don't like root beer (fair chance) you might a root beer float. Vanilla ice cream tamps down the harsh flavors of the root beer. Some root beers are less medicinal and closer to vanilla cream on their own. Recommendations for a high end artisanal root beer, mild, sublime flavors: Hank's from Philadelphia.
11:47 Cause they’re thin little sticks, way too salty, and just plain gross. Don’t get me wrong, I love In-N-Out. They’re burgers are great and I actually love their strawberry shake (for some reason), but their fries are just not it.
As an ex in n out employee I can tell you that the reason they ask if you want onion is because every burger comes with spread lettuce and tomato with the OPTION of onion. Idk why but they figure most people don’t like onions or sum so they make it an option rather than a automatic thing
Aah was feeling hungry here, my mother gave me a crumb of cookie she baked from the remains of my dead brother last week, but it wasn’t enough. Kinda felt hungry since I haven’t eaten in a while but hey just found the perfect video. Thx Lud!
The key for the fries is to ask for them to be "well done" or cooked longer. They will also "well done" animal style fries - its not one or the other. It brings them from C tier to S tier. You are welcome.
Nah vegetarian options are decent in the US especially in California. Maybe just don’t go to a place that specializes in making hamburgers and ask for a nice vegetarian meal.
They ask if you want onions because it’s both the number 1 topping that people ask to remove AND they offer grilled or Norma onions providing the customer to relay which they prefer.
As someone who worked at In n out , I agree with almost every sentiment in this video. I think In n out is ALRIGHT, but it isn’t S-tier like everyone says. Also asking if you want onions with every order annoys a bunch of people but you’d be surprised how many people say no to onions but wouldn’t have mentioned it if it came on the burger by default.
I used to live in LA but sadly moved away from the best restaurant in the world. I recommend everyone get the triple cheeseburger with extra salted fries!
The question to why In-N-Out asks you "would you like onion" on everything is a starter question to any other customizations to your burger. "Oh yeah and no tomato" and shit. The amount of people that will get their food and ask it to be remade because they forgot to mention it in the beginning is mind boggling.
the key to in'n out fries is 'light well done'. regular is a soggy mess, well done they turn too crispy. light well is as close as you're gonna get to mcdonald's fries and actualy quite good.
in n out asks if you would like onions because we have different types of onions you can get on your burger. like grilled onion, regular onion, raw onion, raw chopped onion, and whole grilled onion
I can respect the opinion that In-N-Out is good for its price. Coming from Canada, my family went to try In-N-Out for the first time after people have been raving about it forever and its fine, but it also took forever to get because the lines were always so big. I feel like part of the appeal of it is, its kind of a go to on the west coast and its so familiar that adds to it that people who arent from the area just don't get.
Lmao in the video i noticed Ludwig was drinking a waterloo (sparkling water brand) and i was drinking the EXACT SAME THING, legit exact same flavor and brand 😅

Actually a comfort channel of mine- so easy to watch, no high stakes. I eat, leave do an assignment, and watch another as a reward! Then we sleep hawk shuah
Polite really popped off with the editing, good video :)
I work at in n out, we ask about onions because they don’t normally come on the burger, but people assume they do
Im literally fasting why am i watching this
As someone playing Earthbound for the first time bc of the last direct, the music over the subtitles is much appreciated
in-n-out is great for its price. It tastes amazing, but their plain fries are bad due to the fact that it is fully natural.
The fries aren’t bad, they are just average
@@haydenbelles Nah they ain’t average. They are dry as hell
@@nothing-kn3tc u want wet fries 😂💀
@@rutsg8449 nah i want fries that don’t make my mouth feel like the Sahara desert
@@nothing-kn3tc people always say “oh their fries are plain” don’t they give you salt packets? Like they give you salt packets you can put on the fries to make them not plain and you can control the amount of salt you want. I used to think the fries were bad until i realized you’re supposed to season them yourself with the salt they provide.
Liked that little xqc desk cosplay at the end there. Attention to detail was stellar.
I work at in n out and tapped on the notif so fast
He missed a few secret menu items. Also the neapolitan shake is great! Its just all 3 but hits so hard, and that with the animal style burger and animal style fries makes my day every time.
The concept of secret items interested me, but it's just asking for certain subtractions. The name makes it seem like something special, but really it's something you can ask at any restaurant.
I mean unless you’re willing to ask any restaurant to grill your meat in mustard, I think animal style is pretty special.
That In-N-Out hat is really holding back Slimes hair.
In-N-Out is consistent and provides a good value for the price. If you want a burger that’s significantly better than a Big Mac for about 2/3 the price, that’s where you go. Fries are mid.
Almost the exact same price for a double double and a big mac, except one doesn't come with a 40 minute line for mediocre food like In N Out :D Wayyyy overhyped.
is there a fast food place in america that has a "great" burger?
@@subterfugue Five Guys is pretty unanimously agreed to be a great burger, but is also by far the most expensive. Habit is a semi-fast food joint mainly on the west coast with some on the east coast, and is my go to when I want a burger with a little more quality but still at a reasonable price.
@@subterfugue I'm gonna be real with you, it's literally 100% dependent on where you live. I have a few REALLY dope fast food places nearby for McDonalds, Whataburger, and Burger King but you could go somewhere else and get a mediocre experience. It's literally always dependent on the franchise owner and how well they pick managers to keep the shit together.
thanks guys, appreciate it
classic fast food restaurant
Ludwig was so excited for this, looks like he would like it.
Slime sipping on that Lemon-lime Waterloo, easily the best sparkling water in the game.
Its always a great day to be blessed with content, thanks Lud.
5:41 you can replace a bun for a lettuce wrap at many places in Illinois, don't know who would want that much lettuce though
The best way to eat in and out is double double with animal style fries and lemonade 😂
I just want to know how long they have to wait for their food at In-N-Out.
The lines are long, but the waits are rarely longer than like 10-15 minutes. Though for their order, it might've been a while lol.
@@TheDilla where I'm at, it can be 40 minutes
@@TheDilla I meant specifically them, I live close to an In-N-Out so I’ve gone many times. It’s just that that’s a lot of food.
New strat I discovered. Flying dutchman + animal style fries. Slap those patties on top and you got yourself some damn good poutine fries
A chocolate shake, hamburger no tomato add onion, and an order of fries for $8 is so good for the quality of In-N-Out
There's a good chance I'll never have in n out in my life
but as a root beer/float lover I'm really curious about that root beer float shake now. Did they hate it because it's root beer, which seems to mostly be just an american thing, or is it actually just bad?
also I want the fattiest fast food I can find now and it's 4am and I've already eaten
Fun fact you can customize what soda and ice cream you want.
Yea I thought he put something in it
lot of people not from america apparently don't fuck with root beer. lot of mouth wash comparisons. maybe its an acquired taste or something
Now this is the ludwig content i miss and love
11:47 Cause they’re thin little sticks, way too salty, and just plain gross. Don’t get me wrong, I love In-N-Out. They’re burgers are great and I actually love their strawberry shake (for some reason), but their fries are just not it.
They are still better than McDonald’s
As an ex in n out employee I can tell you that the reason they ask if you want onion is because every burger comes with spread lettuce and tomato with the OPTION of onion. Idk why but they figure most people don’t like onions or sum so they make it an option rather than a automatic thing
It’s because some people don’t want onion breath, so that’s why people try to avoid it.
Aah was feeling hungry here, my mother gave me a crumb of cookie she baked from the remains of my dead brother last week, but it wasn’t enough. Kinda felt hungry since I haven’t eaten in a while but hey just found the perfect video.
Thx Lud!
it's a good thing that there was a hamburger in that thumbnail lud...
Why do I gotta live in NY...
shake shack is better anyway bro. better fries, better shakes, bomb chicken sandwiches.
The key for the fries is to ask for them to be "well done" or cooked longer. They will also "well done" animal style fries - its not one or the other. It brings them from C tier to S tier. You are welcome.
I'm always surprised at how bad the vegetarian options are in the west
I'd never eat at any fast food chain if my options were that bad
Yeah lol, it’s literally more cost effective to eat terribly here, which kinda sucks for dieting on a budget lol
Depends on where in the west. There's a lot of vegetarian options in the Netherlands.
Nah vegetarian options are decent in the US especially in California. Maybe just don’t go to a place that specializes in making hamburgers and ask for a nice vegetarian meal.
@@joebaer1358 I live in Cali lol idk what you mean, it’s so hard to eat healthy haha
@@jbezoarjr5269 Where at? I have about 5-6 places I can go to within a 10 minute drive.
Thanks for the info. Love In N Out, They come to Canada in a food truck once a year.
Real talk, I honestly don't get why people go to McDonald's when In and Out exists. If I&O were a global franchise there'd be no point in going there.
Ludwig is the epitome of that guy you have a crush on cus he looks smart and cute but then you find out is a major nerd once you start talking to him.
Slimes "It's just good for the price :/" is the biggest seller for In-N-Out I've ever seen.
This was just an unsponsored ad because I’m gonna go to in-n-out after watching this
love knowing that slime is wearing his hat backwards cause i have to wear one every shift
They ask if you want onions because it’s both the number 1 topping that people ask to remove AND they offer grilled or Norma onions providing the customer to relay which they prefer.
Welcome to In-N-Out where our secret menu is just normal requests people would have, and all our food tastes the same.
As someone who worked at In n out , I agree with almost every sentiment in this video. I think In n out is ALRIGHT, but it isn’t S-tier like everyone says. Also asking if you want onions with every order annoys a bunch of people but you’d be surprised how many people say no to onions but wouldn’t have mentioned it if it came on the burger by default.
aerogel has expiration and the glitch releases crust of insect ; yeast feces potato molding is the fastest to expire in category breading
In N Out is good because its cheap and its usually pretty consistent.
I used to live in LA but sadly moved away from the best restaurant in the world. I recommend everyone get the triple cheeseburger with extra salted fries!
All that indirect kissing between Lud n Slime is all i'll be able to think of now
i miss in n out so much, i moved from my hometown almost 2 years ago and where i live now doesn’t have in n out
The question to why In-N-Out asks you "would you like onion" on everything is a starter question to any other customizations to your burger. "Oh yeah and no tomato" and shit. The amount of people that will get their food and ask it to be remade because they forgot to mention it in the beginning is mind boggling.
during the part in the intro where he says the facts if you plays the summoning salt intro music it rlly works and its hallarious
I’m born and raised about 15 mins from the first in n out in Baldwin Park.
I enjoyed the fuck out of this episode
Thank you 🙏
the key to in'n out fries is 'light well done'. regular is a soggy mess, well done they turn too crispy. light well is as close as you're gonna get to mcdonald's fries and actualy quite good.
in n out asks if you would like onions because we have different types of onions you can get on your burger. like grilled onion, regular onion, raw onion, raw chopped onion, and whole grilled onion
Ludwig praising Wahlburgers is a war crime
