That is a monster brushless motor brian💪
my heli collection is growing this year 👍
Sim is a must to learn Heli. Then you need a lot of room and a local store with parts. Tail and blade strikes are part of learning. Had a Trex I had basic fun with, but I never got to 3D since I don’t have reflexes to do that, and fear of repair costs. I don’t do anymore since no more safe place to fly the 500 size. Also minor accidents were always expensive. Smaller ones are better to bang around, but bigger ones did fly nicer.
My flight mode 1 had the throttle go full down after touchdown, and my flight mode 2 was the idle up setting where stick was in center to hover and 3D.
This new gps stuff would make it so much easier to learn.
Awesome my friend you made the leap to hard core hobby grade helicopters. It's beautiful.
I love flying it, and thought I'd be super scared to fly it!!!! Now to get more comfortable with 3D...
Big props to you Brian for posting the heli section. Not a lot of people can master the heli world but if you give it time and practice you will progress eventually. Nice flying and video as always 👍🏼
Thanks, and I agree - I don't want to say it'll be one of them (who can master helis) just quite yet...but I want to do it, and when I want to do something, I usually figure a way to do it. Either way, wanted to show that this heli doesn't have to be crazy 3D or nothing...it's a GREAT HELI!!!
The tail rotor does not return to center, because you are in heading hold mode for your tail. If you are in the rate mode, then your tail will return to center, but you want to be in heading hold.
Bought mine today. I habe to assemble it first. I learn a lot. I already have tons of respect of this flying death. Brutal. Never ever want to imagine to hit something living with it. Pls never
I have full build videos on the M4 on my channel. Also I recommend getting a Brain/iKon 2 FBL over the 6250.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 cool. Thank you. I watch it. I use a Jeti DX16. So I use the Spirit RS Flybarless & Reciver in one elegant metal case. Expensive, but well… it’s very fine
@@westhobbiesrc8051 ha! You skipped the Pitch Slider assembly. I know why… :-) This is so painful! I am still struggling with this two super tiny rings. I go nuts
@@christians.1577 spirit makes a really good FBL. I’ve owned and flown all of them. I always go back to iKon lol Jeti makes a very nice radio as well!
Good luck & what a beast you've got coming to you!!!
Phillips that is one bad dude. I have an M2 EVO in yellow and I absolutely love it. OMP and Goosky premium stuff...
They really are! Just with my thumbs were better skilled than they are, so I could put her through her paces!!!!
Go the ARF route .. love to see the long camera crew saves and the make dues ;) Nahhh love you guys, you googogo
Thanks!!!
Nice heli! Ive had a several of those 6250 flight controllers and they all acted different and did weird random crap. Switched all of my helis to Spirit Systems FBLs and never looked back. Easy setup and they work like they are supposed to. I love my spektrum nx8 and spektrum receivers but I'll never use or trust their fbls. I even put a micro spirit in my fusion 180 because it flew like crap too. Anyway Awesome heli glad to see you doing some OMP helis.
I've had similar experiences as well on a Fusion 360 and one 700 that has the 6250HX.
Thats a chopper! Nice flying, i hope that heli bug hit you hard. Nothing will get you pumped more! 😁🚁💨💯👍
I do love heli's. You'll be seeing a few in the near future - hope you enjoy them ;)
Well, nice job Brian. You pretty much make me want about everything you fly on camera.
Thanks ;)
Omg I didn't think you would have that can't wait to watch these videos.
Yup..Building helis. That's where I got my start way back when with a Thunder Tiger Raptor 30. These bind and fly helis are like Pringles to me. Once you pop, ya can't stop! Just like RC cars and planes, used to have to BUILD them. Bals wood, monokote, etc etc. Makes maiden flights a little more whit knuckled as that's HOURS, sometimes days of your own time invested.
I'm thinking you put that thing to work on the farm. Cutting hay, then hauling the bails to the neighbors with all that JenZays 6s powahh!!! 👍
LOL - Making wind roes and all ;) Drying the hay - LOL Amazing!!!
Yeeeyyyy. Shes beautiful !! I can do fixed wing but with shortage of real state space , rotaring wings are my best solution.
Nice Video! I have maidened my M4 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. But in one point I don't agree: "Safe-" or "selflevel. I got the tip from a experienced pilot (John Salt) to switch off selflevel as soon as possible and to use only 3D mode. I am far away to be a 3D pilot but I developed the feel for balancing the heli all the time already when I learned to hover. My steps on the way to circles, loops, flips and rolls have be small and very modest. But I learned to really control the heli all by myself. Today I can't even fly in stability because it feels I have close to no control. But thats just my 5 cents! Good work!
You're definitely not wrong. Flying in Auto-Leveing (SAFE) is a crutch that many heli and fixed wing pilots will find themselves using, and keeping ourselves from advancing. Trouble is that I need the heli to survive ;)
I have a unique issue, we fly an item for a few flights and then the item is shelved. We have little time to "play with it" for months or years, like I would have done BEFORE we started doing the "reviews". This puts me in a situation where I'm ALWAYS new to an item. I have enough skill to fly them, but not enough time on the sticks with any particular plane / heli to really get to know and feel it the way a normal pilot might. This is, albeit an excuse, a real one. I can and will improve on my heli skills, but probably will be flying in "auto-leveling" for some time to come, since I still need help to make it survive. On the other hand, if I were just flying this and ONLY this heli for a few weeks, say I was out on a trip for 3-4 weeks to some stranded island with only this heli, tx, and batteries (and some spare parts), I bet I'd be flying out of SAFE in no time at all, since I wouldn't have all the "distractions" of fixed wing staring me down as I walk through virtually any room of my house ;)
It's a good problem to have, but it can be a bit of a double edged sward.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I get You! Your problem is a problem many pilots acn only dream of! Flying a lot of different fixed wing models, helis, even drones without having almost any time to get to really know them sounds very challenging for me!! I am flying since 2 years now with OMP M1's and M2's ONLY in 3D mode and do a lot of fullsize style acrobatics with these little ones. But with my brandnew M4 I am flying like in the beginning: smooth circles, turns, figure 8'ts to get a feel for this much heavier and different reacting machine. You never have the time for such getting to grips. I wish you that you once can keep your favorite CP helicopter and can take your private time for flying (if you find time and power for this) to really get YOUR BABY know so well that you can switch of "safe" off with this one!! Thanks for the good explanation and happy flights with many, many great models and THIS ONE YOURS!!
Super geflogen 👌😄🇨🇭👍
I bought a 230s 3 years ago caused by your videos. Its great. Now i want more. Damn i am in now. Its the only reason to live. Oh the landing skid is from nylon.
Exactly , its not for beginners, RAw420 its the same story , i love your video , you talk the real life
Thanks ;)
Nice to see that you get bigger helis!
/// Greats from Sweden
Thanks a lot! We have plans for 500 and 700 working right now...as well as more mid sized too ;) I want to get better, and think I have it in me, so thanks for the encouragement!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Fun to here that. I’am doing my first build now (kraken 700 S). And i bought a used Mikado 550. Then i do volume training with my Blade 230. 😃 alot smoother to fly with bigger helis.
I have the Omp M1 and M2, after 15 years of flying Align t-rex - horizon hobby - and the best for me was Thundertiger - I tell you Omp is definitely the best of them all. Really great helicopter. I hope the M4 comes with its own stabilization electronics. Just don't want to build anymore, just fly..
My M4 was sold as a PNP, which didn't come with any stabilizer / flight controller. We used the Rx & Stab from Spektrum (links in the description, if you don't want to watch the Unbox, Build, Radio Setup - which is another video)
Wow!!!! I know nothing about helicopters, but i sure crash them a lot on Horizon’s simulator. Lol
Thank you for the Demo. So this is the final consumer M4. I fly M1's and M2's. The demo version I saw of this, they were using a DD tail motor in the video, and the whine from from that DD Tail motor, was SO LOUD, it was a deal killer for me. It's mildly annoying on the M1 and M2 OMP's, but just TOO much on the M4. Now with the final product, seeing they decided to go with belt driven, servo tail, I'm going to buy it. I think I'm going to go with an IKON 2 for the FBL.
Yep, this one is the final release, and it's awesome!!! I think on these more advanced heli's, especially the bigger ones, we just can't control the speed of the tail FAST enough to get that crispy 3D control that a REAL 3D Pilot (not me) would want ;)
I was looking at this last week. It's been a few years since I bought a 3d heli.
It is very good!!! I only wish I could really send it to it's own limits a bit better...
@@BrianPhillipsRC Don't worry, I'll do that for you when I order mine! 😂
As this comment is posted it's flyin Brian Friday
NICE!!!!!
Wow, you are a lucky duck Brian. I have been drooling over the OMP M4 since the rumors came out. 😢 sadly I have no cash this year to even think of another RC helicopter. I will have to just fly my M1 and my UMX Turbo Timber. Too many things broke at my house this year including my wife’s crown on her molar. Now she needs surgery and an implant. Happiest of flying to you.
Brian you should try to work something out with Mikado, maybe they will send you Vbar Touch and Neo for a review. You will love it for your helicopters.
Holy cow...they make some NICE STUFF! I bet they'd be a bit underwhelmed with my skill level, but I'm flattered you'd think I could work with them ;) Thanks!
Cool helicopter. One day ill have to try one. (CRASH one !) lol
Fly in Iu1 go inverted then flip to normal mode.. Thank me later. I'm flying M4 with same fbl system... Love it.
I'll give it a shot!!!
I've flown my share of helis and planes and all I can say is when I fly helis is nothing but constant anxiety. Planes you can relax and enjoy but helis are punishing.
Indeed Mrzizzy. Sometimes I wonder if I’m just a sucker for punishment but you’re absolutely right. For me the enjoyment lies in the adrenaline and anxiety, which seems very contradictory but I am determined to keep improving. I think part of it is the challenge and I love the intense concentration needed. I think it helps you be in the moment and forget about other things that are going on. You basically have no choice do you 😊
Pure heaven....for a control freak that likes a bit of danger and excitement! Very intense. 🙂
@@keithcarpenter5254 yes, and pure heaven could be quite expensive 😉
If you don’t already fly them. They are very very very difficult. I have been flying over 10 years, and I can tell you as far as difficulty building, learning, programming and especially flying blows every other aircraft out of the water. You fly planes….you think it was difficult? You have NO IDEA.
Good detail information brother, good job👍☕️☕️✌️...forgot to add, same heli I got in mine ...thank you
Thank you!!!
I had a T-REX 600N explode during spool-up and still continued flying rotary wing. These egg beaters can mane and kill you.
yes, they can
If you getting into heli’s and want easy setup get yourself a Mikado vcontrol radio…. So simple and so easy…. It’s a beautiful system for helicopters
I use serious DR and very little expo with my 6250 more scale type fling.
I could kick some more in there.
You should do a size comparison to the Blade 330s and 360?
Great idea!
It's a 380 size heli. It goes by blade length, from tip to bolt hole.
U ever gonna review a 700 size heli? Like a align trex tb70?
It's on our docket, but not in the USA yet, so won't be for a while. Megan has her helmet ordered - LOL LOL LOL LOL
@BrianPhillipsRC there's a guy, west hobbies RC. He the the real deal when it come to heli reach out to him.... a collab would be nice+
Camera crew has is right storm clouds.
@arminbroger7308
Please don't blame the M4 for that. I'm not a good heli pilot. I especially don't do well in 3D with Heli's, as I'm still learning.
Our format is that we unbox, build, and radio setup the aircraft, then film the maiden flights. We do this for a reason. Our audience wants to see it without a bunch of refinements, so they can decide if the heli will stand on it's own, or if it takes some "expert" to make it work well. This is why we do it, and we will sometimes go back and make a "second thoughts" video where we have had a chance to fly or even sometimes modify aircraft to make them work even better, or just get practice at the sticks. This will not be released for a while, since we have a lot on our docket at the moment.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Hey Brian, first i enjoy your channel and it was not against you ! 😁 I only wonder about the comment of @arminbroger7308 cause it was not a super flight.😊 Greetings from Germany Rainer!
👍🔥💯🤝🇩🇪
3.5 hours and you didn’t even fly it? Dude you’re good at planes but need some work on Heli’s. Some of the the stuff you’re complaining about really shows your skill set at Heli’s. Keep up the good work you may get the heli bug one day and your content will be from a different perspective.
I agree, and mentioned that a few times. Heli's are just harder for me. I want to get better, and HAVE gotten quite a bit better, but I've got a LOOOONG way to go. This build was WAY painful for me, and what I'm trying to do is like what we did with planes, from nearly a decade ago...if you wish, take some time and watch some of my old airplane footage from early on our channel, then see more recent footage - you'll see how much we've improved, not only in flying skills, but also covering the products, and how to do the builds and radio setup.
We're working to replicate this with heli's, and hope people will see this.
You need a lot of practice lol. Rudder turns are not turn. Get some practice in and get some coordinated turns down.
P r o m o S M 🤣
We're 100% organic growth, but maybe we need to use a 3rd party to keep up with the RCSaylors - LOL ;) But seriously.
Not a heli for new heli pilots. Its about the worst heli for that. A bigger 600 size heli is much better for begginners.
I thought so myself too, but there's a lot of very "in the weeds" RC Heli experts who forget how really hard it is to fly helis, and they think this heli is "easy"...to which I say, maybe I'm just REALLLLLLLY bad - LOL ;)
He looks like Farva
