Thx for the info, man. Yeah I've heard loads of stories about the infamous 6.0 since I was still a teen. Highly recommend this to any new Ford 6.0 buyer.
I have a 2004 6.0 with 38 k original miles. Head gasket, was replaced in 2018 with 23k miles. What should I do to make sure it will last me 300k miles or more
Um lol don't but a Ford 6.0 period 6.4 same pos not some miracle science behind the process the international 7.3 didn't break didn't need upgrades n actually had decent gaskets on it. Anyway for to use the international had to also purchase so much inventory of parts each year. Well nothing breaks so no parts are used over the years and Ford began to loose money. The 6.0 is an attempt to copy the 7.3 but to induce fail points as to create repeat business and possibly use up some international shelf wasting parts.
@@danielramos7556 good idea if not still dont be worry you may injoy doing it yourself as it makes the truck more meaningful well thats my opinion but u know
My understanding according to my dad's explanation is the stock bolts they used are meant to stretch to torque. So when people tune them it increases pressure causing them to stretch too far thus a gasket failure. It's a bad design idea on the manufacturer part to have bolts that are meant to stretch in a place meant to be tightly sealed. So the fix is studs that don't stretch. Obviously they still stretch without tuning as well but increasing the stock power increases pressure. Towing heavy things increases the pressure. Basically unless your just using it as your daily driver and not hauling things heavy or tuning it to increase power it may never fail. If your using it for what it's meant for it probably will.
I'm looking at a 2005 6.0 with a 153k miles for 17,200. dealer said it's bulletproofed but only knows for sure that the bolts were replaced with studs , trucks sounds nice , you guys think it's worth it.
That seems way overpriced, I got my 2006 4×4, 6.0 with the EGR deleted etc, for 8 grand and has been doing fantastic!! I have 173K miles on it and these can last 300-500 K!!
I am looking at a 2003 6.0. This is what he said he has posts. 2003 4x4 6.0 powerstroke , the odometer has 320,000, I replaced the engine and transmission 6 months ago, the engine had 150,000 miles and I have used it for maybe 20,000 more miles, HEADS STUD I put new injectors, the turbo was rebuilt, I put new pulleys, serpentine belt new, new oil cooler, has a tuner edge is older version but works great for me in economy mode. He is asking $5,000 is it worth it?
youre missing the cheapest best thing you can do. mishimoto rad, 7.3 fan clutch, zerex G-05 coolant, motocraft oil filter. for those that don't know, stock cooling fan kicks on @235 degrees. The 7.3 kicks on at 175 and its mechacnical.
I had 2 6.0s a 04 dually studded and deleted ran gear head srl ++ and a 06 stock they both had a lot of issues yes they can run well but for how long theirs alot of things people dont understand about them you really have to monitor alot of things on them and for an average joe they will plain out fail faster . I sold them both and bought a 2000 7.3 it may be slow but it gets the job done , no gasket failure no hpop failure no egr shit ect....and half the cost for mantience
It all depends on how the truck was treated, my buddy's 6.0 with an egr delete and studs has 400k miles with barely any problems and he tows with it almost everyday.
@raul salazar its all about the care you give it FROM DAY ONE OF THE ENGINES LIFE. Starting on second owner or 200,000 miles is like losing weight and quitting smoking after you’ve been 600lbs and smoked for 45 years. You’ve really set yourself up for failure. You can’t even spell right so are you sure you did the maintenance that the book says and didn’t skip any steps? (Maintenance =mantience)
Have a 200 f350 with 7.3. I paid 1500 for the truck, but I never had any issues it's just a rust bucket. I'm now looking for a 6.0 great video for people like me beginners at the 6.0
I would definitely through in a new oil cooler with this list. Today's oil coolers have been upgraded with better flow then the original design. But buy a OEM cooler!!
Hello my good friend. Love your channel. I'v got a early 03 powerstroke 6.0 that has never been studded. 190k and runs great also. Lots of maintenance!! Wou you have a recommendation an a safe programmer for the powerstroke?? I'm curious on the brand that you have on your truck? Keep up the good videos and I will be watching. Thanks much.
@Keith H SCT programmer is a great one. Used by a lot of people the bully dog has praises but I don’t know how it really is watch some videos about both and make a decision. These days you can research everything and never have to buy ragged stuff anymore.
You do not want to know how much I have into my 6.0L Excursion to completely bulletproof it. The only Ford and International parts left really are the block.
Jared Thompson ok thanks boss...the guy said he took care of it like a baby and kept up with the maintenance, since it was his daily driver and didn’t beat it up like most guys do. But I’ll find out soon.
I got mine for 12k with 220k miles, amazing truck. Make sure it sounds good and can hold boost but mines a 2003 king ranch 6.0 and it's bulletproofed before I got it
Would mine be a semi bullet proof I did install the bulletproof egr cooler but I didn’t stud mine since I don’t tow anything as well I installed a Mishimoto radiator. Would that work to prolong my tuck life it has 160k miles
Does it give to much horsepower to the engine? Because my buddy just bought an older Ford F-250 with 6.0 with all this stuff, (bully dog) to pull his Bobcat and also a track ho. I fear these hands will use all that power and burn it up really quick.
That ticking time bomb is on you. Look up about how 2003 to 2004 6.0 heads were cast and about original head bolts stretch. Until you face these problems for your self I wouldn't be giving advice.
Brainiac Productions it’s easier to see them from the driver side but the only other thing you could be seeing is the valve cover bolts I’m pretty sure
The valve covers have one or two studs and the 11oclock bolts are sometimes studs for wiring grounds and stuff like that. The headbolts are either bolt or studs if it’s bolts then it’s factory period.
if you take care of your engine and it isnt worn from heavy pulling, when you remove the oil cap with the engine hot, it is very likely that you will not see anything coming out

I got a 2007 ford f250 super duty lariat with a 6.0 and it's over 200000 miles on it and I love it I always tow trailers with it for my job

99% of all head bolts are torque to yield stretch bolts. 1 times use

Sorry man the term bulletproof is just a general term. It has nothing to do with bulletproof co.
Nah, it’s 100% derived from a fix Bulletproof Diesel created: www.trucktrend.com/how-to/engine/what-does-it-mean-to-bulletproof-a-diesel-engine/
Every engine will have blow by..
Even slightly is normal
Tell that to my father in laws 04 Cummins with 298k miles that literally has no blow by. It even shocked me. Lol
