I never understood the brass for Khorne. Brass is softer than steel and used for decorations, for which Khorne has no need or appreciation, the only temple he wants is battlefield and prayer the screams of battle and bloodshed. Crystals reflect light and can break (change) it to different colours and blue for water, the element with most common for apparent changes from one state to another (you can see it freeze, melt and vaporize really easy) for Tzeentch, green and gardens since plague is associated with green colour and plagues can be considered a garden of death (and most deadly plagues were natural) for Nurgle, purple and decadence since purple was mostly associated with a high political station in ancient times and often the most decadent were the most powerful and used that power to further their perversions for Slaanesh. Red for Khorne makes sense, iron and that, and black too, a sign of war, charred earth, burned towns etc. But how is a golden decorative metal associated with a guy that distains long-range combat, sorcery and cowards?

Blood being red in humans is due to iron, probably first ever weapon used to kill was wood and stone, the first high-quality weapon was bronze, a mix of tin and copper, first MASS produces weapon (since bronze is harder to make and rarer since you need two different metal deposits while iron is more plentiful) were iron and steel.
But how is a golden decorative metal associated with a guy that distains long-range combat, sorcery and cowards?
counterpoint: ape brain says gold shiny good
