Don't ever be ashamed to cry, especially when it's a song like this. It is meant to make you emotional
Never feel embarrassed of showing your strength. Yes, whatever we were taught, showing one's feelings, emotions, vulnerabilities is the biggest act of strength one can possibly enact. 🙂
Great reaction to this version of this song... A version that makes me cry EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Even now. 🙂
And yes, we've ALL passed through this. Especially in our youth. 🙂
And oh so many times we create this situation just because we feel that way, we feel "I don't belong here", we feel we're not "special" (or special ENOUGH), and so we create a thing that's called "self-fulfilling prophecy", because our belief makes us act "creep"... Thus creating the ending we dreaded, and confirming our "creepiness". I think this is what's so relatable in this song, and particularly in this version. They made an incredible job at conveying emotions, THESE emotions, into their performance. Kudos!
Enjoyed your reaction. Big hug from here.
See you next time!
VP always nails the emotional impact. I really love Cesar's voice in this one. His voice has the capability to be very innocent sounding - and he used it that way here.
That said. You don't need to apologize for your emotions. Let them be as they are. No reason for you to feel like you have to hide them.
Thanks for playing this one. It was a good choice. Have you seen their cover of Dream On or Nothing Else Matters? I think you might enjoy them. They did a great job of both of them.
The lyrics express feelings of alienation and social inadequacy. The line "I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo" captures the feeling of being "different", "weird", "a freak", of not fitting into social standards.
The comparison with an angel and a floating feather in a beautiful world establishes a contrast with the person's negative self-perception, who sees themselves as someone who is not special, reinforcing the idea of self-exclusion.
The search for control, a perfect body and a perfect soul reflects an internal struggle to achieve an unattainable ideal, possibly imposed by society or by the person's own mind.
Creep' is a powerful expression of vulnerability and the human desire for acceptance, and the song's chorus is a cry of despair.
VERY well put. Thank you.
Beautifully said!
@lauriehallcolemandowns7364 ❤
Exactly! TYSM for your comment. I think there are others (including me) who will benefit from it very deeply.
No need to be embarrassed - if you don't feel the music, what's the point of listening to it? I've happily got to the age where I can cry at music, TV/film, and books without feeling the need to apologise. Great analysis!
VP always hits straight in the feels, and that drives their arrangement and video concepts over and over. Often the original (massive generality warning) doesn't laser in - we're shocked enough by the fact that the song is new. A decade in, it's time to be really direct, and VP always nails it. To me, that's exactly what they did with Dream On, I Can't Make you Love Me, and so many others.
Anthony Gargiula (gar-JOOL-ah or gar-JOOLYA (I've seen it both ways)) is a young singer, but not quite THAT young (17). He turned 24 in April, and is a friend of Eli's, which is how he got introduced to VoicePLay. He's appeared in several VoicePlay videos now (besides this one), including Seven Nation Army, Golden Hour, and Just Sing.
Thank you for your reaction. You made me think about the song in a whole new way.
Voiceplay pays homage to the original, but always put their own spin on it. I am very old, but still remember those feelings from my teens and early twenties, but even worse, when my children were at that age and I couldn't convince them that they were wonderful.
To get yourself out of the dumps, check out their cover of Drunken Sailor, it's hysterical. Watch to the end. Trust me.
Thank you for a priceless reaction to Voice Play. Cesar, the guy in the beginning & end of the song really knows how to reach deep down into your soul with this song. It take a real man who can cry when getting emotional. You're awesome ❤. It was Geoff's, the bass guy's idea to add the mirrors. Voice Play never misses a thing when making their arrangements. Please do a reaction video to Geoff Castallucci's cover of Sounds Of Silence. He is the bass guy in Voice Play. He will reach deep down into your soul with this one.
Sebs, if you feel like crying, do it. It is more courageous as you said yourself, to be yourself and we here can respect a man showing his REACTION.
You and your fam, be safe.
Elmar from Germany
Wow, I'm watching you and I wasn't even sad, but you started to cry and I'm in tears and actually sobbing. Great, reaction.
Well you got Gargiula right, impressive! but failed on Eli, whose name is said like Ellie, to rhyme with jelly. :) I agree that many of us feel like creeps at times but some reactors seem to have missed that and don't identify. But I certainly did. It gets to me. Every time. Especially Anthony's voice which affects me hugely. I feel the angst in it. He's now appeared with VP a few times. And always sounds incredible. And I agree, don't be embarassed about it, feelings just make you human. And Anthony is now in his early 20s I belive. He was 17 when they first heard him.
That beat box at 5:46 always hit me.
No shame, that was intense.
And even if we've moved on from that feeling, it's so easy to remember what that was like. How completely soul crushing it was.
Sebs, I so appreciate how real you are. Your emotional response was exactly how I reacted. Watching you, I teared up again. So glad you're appreciate VP. Eli is pronounced L E. Just FYI. Keep bringing the reactions, please.
The first words out of my mouth were "H@!y Sh!t". Yeah this is incredible! I first found and subscribed to @Sebs when you reacted to Brian Justin Crum's AGT version of Creep. That's the first time I really fell in love with the song. BJC's version and now VoicePlay's version are two of the best (along with Haley Reinhart's version that another listener pointed out). There's nothing to apologize for. Howie Mandel said it perfectly after BJC's performance that "We all feel like a creep, but then we realize we all belong here and that's what makes the world". He was right and you are right with your similar version. Great reaction. That's probably the last time VoicePlay will make you cry. Anthony is featured on Seven Nation Army and Golden Hour. You'll enjoy those. Eli (pronounced like Jelly) also arranged Elenore Rigby. You'll enjoy Warriors, Dream On or Dragonborn Calls or Enemy....they're all good choices.
This is the best version of this song I've ever heard. The part where he was singing the "run" verse just killed my heart.... ❤❤❤❤ You made me cry. You've shared a beautiful message.
Great reaction, fantastic. This is like an arrow to your emotional core. I love that you feel that! I would suggest, though that you get some headphones or earbuds, as listening to Voiceplay through them gives you so much more!
Please don't be ashamed of your emotions. It makes you so much more relatable.❤🩹 I felt like a creep, an outsider, the entire time I was growing up. I have always been too verbose, as a kid I came off as a know-it-all, but it was because I was so thirsty for knowledge and I made the "mistake" of letting it show, which was not "cool." I was teased, bullied, rejected. I felt like I was always on the losing end of relationships. It got better as I grew into adulthood, as it does for most of us, but you never forget the feeling of being the "creep." Even as an older woman, that remains. This is a brilliant song, and their cover is much more emotional and moving than the original.
This always reminds me of a deep tissue massage. It hurts so good.
As someone who struggles with depression, this hits me deeply. I also suffer from anxiety so I question myself always. When I need a good cathartic cry I’ve been turning to this.
As an antidote to this, go back and look at a pretty old cover. It features Emoni Wilkins and it is “I Love Me”. It’s a very upbeat tunes, with a really important message . Please be sure to watch till the end where Emoni talks about just what you were discussing. Just like I use Creep for a cathartic cry, I frequently go out and watch that one when I’m done mopping up.
And never ever be ashamed to cry. There’s a reason we were given those tear ducts. Crying it’s not nearly as destructive is bottling up your emotions. It took me years of therapy to accept that as a person who is always been criticized for “being too emotional”.
You did a great job with Anthony’s name as well. He has appeared in several minis with them as well as Seven Nation Army and a sweet yet strange cover of Golden Hour. He is known for his TikTok videos. He got his big break on the Ellen show at the age of seven.
I really dug the analysis of what this cover meant to you; insights like that always give me a new way to look at and listen to a song. I've listened to the original a good few times now and it still gets me right in the heartstrings. Thank you for checking this one out!
Thank you very much for your candid explanation of how the song spoke to you. It's not always easy to look at yourself in the mirror and criticize yourself but sometimes it's good and as long as it doesn't lead to bad things as you said, it can actually be helpful. Anthony is in another song called Seven Nation Army that you should definitely react to if you haven't already
Please be proud of your feelings - this song and the way it is performed in this video hits very deep. Each performer did an amazing job of showing vulnerability, especially Cesar. I can't help but come back to this version of the song over and over. It is as close to perfect as I can find anywhere on the web.
Creep was always a song I identified with back when I was a younger. I was one of the unpopular kids, and kinda didn't want to BE popular. I also didn't want to be picked on, but kids can be pretty horrible to each other. Everything worked out in the end, of course, I'm still here, and still fighting, but yeah, I get the idea of the mirror. I've talked to that person in the mirror a whole lot.
What a great reaction. Honest, heartfelt and open. Thank you.
The song made me see the singer as someone who was abused by the girl he wanted to impress but she was cruel and always put him down, calling him names that he took to heart.
He feels unworthy. He gives up.
We hope he doesn't give up on life.
This is one of those songs I try not to listen to. I don’t need help to be sad. But it really is beautiful-I’m hoping to see more Eli arrangements because his musical choices in the songs he’s done have been inspirational. And Cesar-all the guys, really-crushed it. Your reaction was amazing.
Voiceplay always make you think about the lyrics plus put their own spin on a song that has been covered a lot. That's their genius. They are also very genuine people - who believe in what they do and don't just sing something for likes.
WOW!!! They are just so damned good!!!!! Thanks for playing this version!!!
If you want Cesar to touch your emotions some more, take a listen to VoicePlay in Can't Make You Love Me. 😢
Thanks for your reaction.
Beautiful reaction. This knocked my socks off. As you commented, this takes me back to those who were creeps and wounded my heart. I love the mirrors with each person looking at themselves and finding themselves wanting. I do think this version offers hope, that it may not be too late. It is heartbreaking and stunningly gorgeous. Don't ever feel bad about being in touch with your emotional self. Truly - it is the most human thing about us. Without it, people aren't good for much. I've cried through this one more than once.
I think this cover also expresses how alone you feel when you feel you don't belong. It doesn't matter how many people are around, you're alone.
Elis' arrangement and Geoffs' concept of the mirrors. Self-reflection. Who didn't do this as a teenager? The person you had a crush on didn't even know you existed. Cesar made me cry.
Right on! Cesar's expressiveness, he looks absolutely anguished.
"I will not say 'do not weep', for not all tears are an evil." - Gandalf the White, 'The Return of the King'
It's okay to cry, my dude. I know there's a lot of people out there who say it isn't. I'm telling you that it is. There's nothing more honest than tears.
Great analogy of the song Sebs.
Everyone has their own interpretation of the song. And none are wrong.
You initially said Anthony's last name correct.... gar jewl la.
Eli is pronounced like jelly. Short for Eliezer. So El lee.
They did "Nothing Else Matters" in January. It is a Metallica song. Got the nickname Metallicapella. It is also very beautiful and powerful.
Great reaction! Don't feel embarrassed to show your emotions, probably a lot of us felt the same way when we first listened to this.. and VoicePlay renditions usually make me concentrate on the lyrics a lot more than the original songs, so in this case the message hits harder.. and they did an amazing job with this one❤
7:23 It's not embarrassing. It's real and gritty and beautiful. Never be embarrassed about crying.
I love this insightful and introspective reaction. Thank you for your openness.
These guys are powerful and so beautiful...
I did start crying, and strangely enough, I had just finished reading a quote about grief/loss too.
You have GOT to start wearing headphones. You get SOOOOO much more out of their performances. :)
you aren’t the only reactor who got a bit overwhelmed by this one ❤🏴
Yeah. Lowell at Patrol Nation was speechless😢
I'm so glad I subscribed to your channel ❤ You're so honest and open. Voiceplay hits us all in the feels hard. 😊
An emotional reaction is a REAL reaction. Loved this. Subbed because of it.
Sebs .. bro .. we share the tears & emotion. I know what you mean. My dark ages was filled with abuse & fear 24/7. But some amazing friends helped me out. Now I write poetry & stories. (Btw you still have the voice, con't ne ashamed of it. It is sleeping in your heart.)
Sebs I had the same emotions that you did. They were incredible
One of my all-time favorite reactions. Thank you for just being real.
Just fyi... all the guys cried on the filming of this video at different points. Geoff again when editing it. None of them were embarrassed to admit it to the Paterons. It's personal to ALL OF US. We can all relate. So glad you are able to show emotional maturity. You may be helping someone else through this reaction. TYSM!
Cesar made a perfect representation of how I’ve always thought of this song. I first heard it as a young teen struggling with mental health issues & an eating disorder. I wanted control. I wanted to not be so different & broken. At 24, I learned that my eating disorder had a near fatal physical root cause & had also finally started to get real help for my mental health issues. I’ll be 42 next month & this broke me just as hard as it did you. The vulnerability they displayed & how much of themselves they put into the performance was validating & stunning. I felt heard. This is my ultimate version of this song. I love it more than the original & their arrangement just hits my heart the right way.
Voiceplay did 2 other songs with Anthony you should check out. 1-Seven Nation Army, 2-Golden Hour. They are just as AMAZING!! 😊
It hit you the same way it hit most of us... only shows how good VP is. I prefer funny/happy/... songs though... 😢❤
I need to be embarrassed, I saw one other reactor that played the entire video three times before he could dry his tears and be able to speak.
I like to think that however much they agonize by themselves in front of the mirror, by the end they are united in realizing that everyone is special in their own way.
TYSM for your reaction to Voicceplay! 😊❤
Perfect reaction, genuine and true.
Extraordinary song means so many different thing's to so many people. I've heard so many different people sing this song. ♥️♥️
Don’t hold back any tears as only a True Man will let them flow showing his emotions. This is such a brilliantly written song that you can put all sorts of musical twists to it. To me the original by Radiohead had a ‘Stalker’ creepiness to it but this version has a sad, more regretful feel to it. I’ll away love the original but my personal favourite cover of this is the Brian Justin Crum version. Why don’t you check out Sinead O’Connor - Nothing Compares to You. Another powerful song.
You need headphones to listen to VoicePlay properly - trust us on that. 😊
And yes, for as much as they play the goofs, when they decide to go for the feels. it’s a gut punch.
Since you asked if that was Anthony: The first (and last) singer was Cesar. The second was Anthony, Geoff is the bass, Eli is the bald tenor that came in after Geoff, and the beatboxer is Layne.
No one does Emotion and theatrics like vp. They are superstars!
I gotta rewatch reactions to this video at least once a week or so. Yours is in the top five. Your reactions are not filled with BS but are genuine. I'm glad of that, as others are.
Please don't feel bad or 'embarrassed' for reacting to this, for being human. Their version was MEANT to evoke emotion, and it did it in you as well as
Love your reaction! ❤ I have always heard this song the same way you did. Amazing - you are the first reactor that hit it spot on! ❤
Perfect reaction - Thanks for being real.
Don't ever be embarassed to cry. If more men showed and shared their emotions there might be less depression and auicides
I wish my man was as open with his emotions as you are. Wonderful reaction.
I love this rendition.
I’m surprised to see no one has mentioned PMJ with Haley Reinhart, epic version of Creep.
Man this is beautiful...pentatonix did a version of this on the masked singer that was brilliant as well
Absolutely love Brian Justin Crum's rendition! ❤
Thank you for another great reaction to Geoff. Would you please do a reaction video to Geoff's solo covers of.. Paul Bunyan...&.. Big Iron ? They are short so you can do them both in one sitting. They are his latest shorts.
You just got a subscribe from me for your openess and understanding and honesty as well as your appreciation for their talent
🎼🖤✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️🖤🎼 .. Sebs , excellent
Anthony is the same guy they featured in Seven Nation Army.
Love your reactions.
It is very emotional for sure, i did cry a bit myself. but i can be a sap too.
This song always makes me cry
I don’t even know the original, but this cover brings tears every single time. 😢
No need to apologize man. Music is supposed to make you feel something.
VoicePlay always does a great job. Check out their cover of Aerosmith's Dream On.
Another version of Creep to check out, by Pau from The Warning. Just her and a piano.
Oh, and it's "El-lee" not "E-lie."
Bald guy is Ellie , curly hair is guest singer
Pronounced like Ellie but it's written Eli
Seb try listening to VP with headphones. Geoff really comes through,
Use headphones. You're missing out on a lot because you're not using them. Put them on. You won't regret it. 😉
now that you have gone to the acapella genre try home free. start with how god thou art, man of constant sorrow , ring of fire. then just explore what they can do. you will be surprised and won't be disappointed. they do things in a country way
Im not really sure where you guys read Anthony Gargiula is 17... I mean he was once ....but when they put this out he was 24.
BTW, it's spelled and looks like "EE-Lie" but it's actually pronounced just LIKE "El-ee"
It is because his name is Eliezar. Thus Eli = Ellee.
Have you ever heard Hallelujah by Pentatonix? They are an amazing a cappella group!
❤❤❤
👍🎶
They are awesome but Brian Justin Crumb “Idol Edition “ check it out 😢😢😢😢
You should do Hailey Reinharts version of Creep. I think you’ll enjoy it. By the way your crying shows how much the music and how they perform it affects you. It’s wonderful to see.
I have no one to talk to in my life.
Hello , Monica Naranjo - Creep [ Reactio ] amazing Wow
Monica Naranjo - Pantera en Libertad ( Tour Minage 2000) 🤘💪WOW Thank you 🇪🇸
I love the bass singers growl.
His name is Geoff Castellucci. And this was mostly his middle range. He’s got a lot more both higher and lower.
Check out his solo channel here on UA-cam. He does both lead and backing vocals there.
If you want to hear him really get down, find VoicePlay’s cover of Valhalla Calling.
Eli - "Elly" (like the typical female name)
I believe Anthony is -7 or 18 years old. Amazing artist.
I was watching your face you were struggling a little 😅
Did you try the cover by Pentatonics - it’s so good.
😢❤😢
Actually I think he's 25 or so now. Anthony's surname is Gar - jewl - ah.
If your a human with a pulse, Creep will hit your heart. Good, but I’ve experienced better covers.
