As a non-European and a non-Yank, if I was asked to choose between a vehicle designed and manufactured in the USA or one designed and manufactured in Europe I would choose the European vehicle every time. (Even if it was a Goggomobil.) There are good reasons US designed and manufactured vehicles do not sell well in Europe and it's not just the oversized cup holders.
Trump actually hates free markets. "Why wont they accept our inferior products? I will force them to buy my stuff" So much for competition based capitalism
US food is inferior to European food, US cars are not designed to be used on smaller European roads. Threatening to invade countries and acting as a bully and then backing down almost immediately is a sign of a gutless coward.
Europe has its own food and our cars drive 25 kilometers for 1 liter of gasoline, Europe roads are exactly like in the USA, I don't understand that USA people talk about something they don't know anything about, where did you get that from, pedophile trump lie over for you people, people in the USA are illiterate when they don't know anything about what they're talking about wow you are c
You really think that the USA is better than Europe, we live in 2025, and probably know more than the USA people do, when you always talk untruthfully the Danish state has many money, so many that other countries borrow money from the Danish state, I remember that last years the USA state had to borrow money from other countries otherwise the USA could not pay the salaries of state employees, wow that's crazy you are so stupid
pedophile trump drags usa people down along down into the shit in Denmark we have no homeless people, because the danish state shall give people minimum 3500 dollars every month if people do not have a job, and we have free doctor and hospital in Denmark and Europe. we help each other in Denmark, danish people live in paradise on eath
What american don't understand is that this tariffs will affect America more than Europe. Pretty much what we import from America is tecnology and services. But what America imports from Europe are products.
In more detail: It is affect the consumers of imported products. Thus if an American buys a European car .. it´s most probably a rich person who is able to afford the tariffs. But if all the low income craftsmen want to buy cheap tools from Asia .. they will suffer the most. They - a huge mass - already with low income ... they will suffer. The most important: The tariffs are NOT paid by the (to the US) foreign countries.
@@klaus2t703 Aren't "low income craftsmen" already going with the cheaper option? I confess I have a few Knipex and Hilti tools in my shop, but only a few. The rest are noname Chinese. p.s. but then I'm neither American nor (Western) European.
@@jmi5969I BELIEVE that was the point: people are already buying cheap tools and it is those people who will struggle to afford even those tools because of the tariffs. It's not the people buying Harley davidsons that will be affected badly by this, but people Who already have a financially tight situation.. 😢
@@klaus2t703 I would suspect it be the opposite, low income craftsmen need to make money this month to fulfil the payroll and will be forced to buy the expensive stuff or spend a lot on finding replacements. And they are competing against big companies so need to have reasonable prices and so will have to bite more of the cost. Richer people are more likely to have a surplus of stock they can work through so they have time to wait for Trump to fold like the wimp he has been for every tariff imposed so far, or take the time to find other sources. And then still charge consumers a lot more because tariffs are a great excuse to make more money from people while all the blame goes to Trump. Billionaires will come out on top, everyone else can suffer, as the American oligarchs desire it
There are no tariffs from the US on EU yet - but as a private citizen living in Denmark, I now go out of my way NOT to buy American products. I can´t do much about Google, Microsoft, SoMe - except I closed my X and am in the prepping faze of leaving Facebook and Instagram. But it is hard to avoid the services from the US we use A LOT (is there a deficit there, Donald? How about music, movies, series? He is so old fashioned, only thinks in goods!) It is not hard at all to avoid the American goods - we don´t want the food, they are toxic, full of E numbers. So that is easy-peasy. So it is mainly about sodas, toothpaste, shampoo, cosmetics. Will make sure not to buy any American! Why - since there are no tariffs yet? BECAUSE Donald Trump has threatened my country with tariffs and with MILITARY. You Americans want to STEAL Greenland from us. Vance has said Denmark is not a good ally! NOT A GOOD ALLY?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We fought side by side with you Americans in all your wars and we have done so for decades. We have as many KILLED IN ACTION per capita as the US (and so does Canada, b.t.w.). We have the relatives of the killed and the veterans from the wars having to listen to that little worm saying we are not good allies!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I angry? YES, I am LIVID! I used to love the US, now I hate it with all my heart, and it will probably stay that way forever. Will not buy anything from you if I can help it!
I am buying a new harddrive for my stationary computer to be able to switch to Linux. And Bluesky is the new Musk-free Twitter. To be recommended! I truly feel sorry for all nice people in the US. I'm rooting for you but things look like they will be really tough in a few years. It's this, more climate driven natural disasters, the aquifiers drying up and what that will do to food production and then all these crazy people who believe in the right of the strong and the use of violence and oppression. It is all very dark.

People in Scotland were well aware of Trump's character long before he declared his candidacy for president the first time around. He bullied others to get what he wanted. When things did not go his way, he threw his toys out of the pram. This behaviour extended to how he interacted with local people around his golf courses, where he showed nothing more than utter contempt for the local people. His contempt for ordinary working people in Scotland mirrors the same attitude he holds towards the working people in the United States. He understands how to tailor his words to appeal to the public, he says they want to hear to gain their support. However, once he attains power, he primarily uses it for his own benefit rather than serving those who put him there. It is absolutely unfathomable to see that you have fallen for his tactics not just once, but on two separate occasions.
Exactly! I just can't believe that Trump supporters cannot see through his facade. It's so obvious. They are truly brainwashed from FOX and right wing media sites who know Trump's character already but like that he is like this. They just excuse his behavior to gaslight them into thinking he is there for them when they know he is only for the wealthy and himself
Just today I thought, his behaviour is that of a petty bully, who sees something someone else has and then wants it and bullies them until they give it up. Then he goes to someone else and bullies them, until he sees the first person has again something he wants, so he gets back to them and bullies them again. I am, therefore, not at all surprised about what you describe.
True, unless they get rid of their GMO products, build fuel efficient and smaller cars, stop washing their chickens with chlorine, stop giving antibiotics to their cows, there's no way we'll reach to a mutual trade agreement

The US cars just don't make sense in Europe unless they are made specifically for the European market's demand. That's why you see many Ford Fiestas in Europe and not so many Ford F150
I was just thinking, what do I own that is produced in the US. The answer is pretty simple, absolutely nothing. I do have products from US brands. But it's all produced in Asia.
Besides the car tariff thing is absolute nonsense. Yes, the EU has a 10% tariff on cars, but the US has a 25% (!) tariff on the actual vehicles that lead the US market, trucks!
I am a US-EU citizen and I live in the US for now, I would be absolutely horrified to find more American grown goods in European groceries: it would be a disaster as well as a health hazard. If the US wants to sell its food to the EU, they need to raise their food standards because the EU isn't going to lower theirs. And I understand Orange Head is upset that Europe is now actively investing in its defense industry rather than buying American, but that's because he broke the trust they had in the EU as an ally and protector. What a shame! Trump made America ridiculous again!

They are starting according to reports. UK and a couple of other countries have signed deals not only for mutual protection [military] but also to work together to revitalise the military industries the US insisted they got rid of [because they could buy US made instead].
There's a recent vid in which a price (and innovation/technology) comparison is made between US made and EU made military gear was made. And the EU stuff came out on top... So if this vid is right, then the logical choice is to buy EU made military gear, and dismiss the US made stuff. Sorry, Donald, but in that case it's a double loss for the US: Increased spending in the EU military budget, but spending it domestically.

I am not on that boat. The eagle might've flown away some time ago but should I disrespect Germany for ever because Hitler? That's so short sided you need lasers to get back on track.
Europe also has this thing about bully's. We already experienced that during the nazi occupation. I have noticed that at the moment America exports a lot of fascism and it is worrying to us. A lot of us fear this trade war is just the diversion.
Anyone who has such allies no longer needs enemies. Before things continue like this for another four years, relations with the USA should be ended immediately.
Honestly, the main reason we in Europe don't buy a lot of US food products is the antibiotics in your meat, carcinogenic colours in your food, and carcinogenic treatments on your crops. Plus, we can get most of it in Europe without the dangerous additives. I think there was a trial of US chicken in UK supermarkets and no one bought it. It was rank.

Trump has NOT learned by history... Tariffs were one of the major contributing factors for the WORST (1930's), economic disaster in American history. Referred to as the 'Tariff Act of 1930', or more commonly known as the "Smoot-Hawley Tariff" or "Hawley-Smoot Tariff". Of course the EU doesn't buy agricultural products from the USA. Most of them don't comply with EU food standards. Why Harley Davidson? Because the idea is to reach traditional Republican areas.
Yep, specifically the EU targets swing states with tariffs (that's why Harley Davidson, which was forced to move some production outside the US and Trump lost in Wisconsin as a result). The EU has won both trade wars it has had against the US that way. The Republicans run for the hills by the time of the mid terms / elections.
i think it was technically on motorbikes, but it reality the only USA motorbike with a real fan base in the EU IS harley davidson :-). the high quality steel production is a very symbolic strength of the EU industry, the UNION itself started as the economic union of coal and STEEL !! a lot of compition from unfair to cheep chinese steel, was managed by EU steel being higher quality, so any bigger suspension bridge and such, EU steel was often choses, also in the USA, so the sudden import ban could have made building build right then in the USA also slightly less safe, since they suddenly had to look for other steel if(in most cases) they could not bare the 25% extra tariff.. EU steel has small margins right now, it's figthing to keep on existing ever since, probably 2010 at least .. so that came on VERY hard, and yes EU searched to slam back mostly symbolical, on a symbol like harley davidson, to make trump understand to renegotiate ... it's sadly the only thing that seems to work, sudden counter messures .. and it's the second term, now the world expects more of the same, so sudden counter messures will have been more preperred worldwide ...
Why Harley Davidson? Because all Harley’s are made in a single factory in Mitch McConnells state. They are a premium product aspired to world wide but increasingly there are competitors- even the big motorcycle manufacturers like Honda and BMW and Ducati are making niche products as direct competitors to Harley. The EU is the second largest market for Harley after the US and imposing a tariff will price them way above competitors plus there is an increasing broad anti-Trump/MAGA sentiment in Europe. Overnight Harley would lose most of their export market and ditto in Australia/New Zealand, the EU knows this will concentrate the mind of Mitch.
Trump does not understand tariffs. The most important thing to understand is that when he says "it's going to make us rich", he doesn't mean Americans. He means himself and his family.
Bingo! He wasted all the money, his father gave him over the decades, then wasted his inheritance in record time. Only the Apprentice saved him, and when he ran the first time, that was a PR exercise, coz he was barely keeping his head above water to be able to keep finding marks to rip off.
Exactly, but its the entire 56 countries of the British Commonwealth that you need to stand up for. You cannot let Elon Musk get any more of a hold on Australia than he already has. Here in Canada we cancelled the $100 million Starlink contract and threatened to tariff Tesla cars, both Canada and Britain may be investigating him for political interference, China is slapping tariffs on Cybertrucks and Australia needs to move against him as well. Trump's bathroom had a box of top secret documents open on the floor that were related to "Five Eyes" secrets (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Britain, USA) that we must assume Elon Musk now will be given any secrets he asks for.
I keep shaking my head about how little people know about Europe in general, even in Canada, but it's certainly not as bad as the US. Half of them don't know where we are🇨🇦.
As Hitler said 'if you keep repeating lies, people will believe you.'' For someone who has (supposedly) earned billions in business, Trump doesn't seem to understand how economics works. Then again, even the English language seems to be hard for him....
this is not true. remember when he said Europe and Germany is totally dependent on the Russian gas ? The German delegation was laughing.... and look at us now !
There's no evidence that proves Hitler actually said that. He did talk about the "Big Lie" in Mein Kampf but more as an accusation towards his enemies. His minister of propaganda, Joseph Goebbels, however, used this exact strategy to implement his party's ideology and world view. But even for him there's no proof he actually ever uttered that sentence or wrote it down.
His casino went bankrupt though. Like many of his other businesses. He inherited his fathers money and has been playing around ever since. He is a bad businessman without any true knowledge about the world and its economics.
He wanted 25% tariffs with Canada but only 10% on Canadian oil. There is the soft under belly, he knows a 25% tariff on Canadian oil would devastate gas prices in the US. What he doesn't realize if he really pisses of Canada the oil tap can be shut right off. Or on top Canada could add an "export" fee so you would pay even more for that oil. How about fresh water from Canada, lumber, steel, aluminum, uranium, rare earth minerals, potash (for fertilizer), gypsum (for drywall), and that's just natural resource products. There is a lot more the US needs from Canada. What you going to do when Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia shut the electric power generators off and your lights and heat go out. But wait there's more how about your car parts and manufactured goods. This is why there were free trade agreements and Trump wants to stop the USMCA trade agreement he negotiated himself in his last time in office, how stupid, idiotic, dumb can one person be.
BBC radio 4 interviewed a spokesperson from the American Embassy in London and was told . There is nothing Canada produces that we can’t produce ourselves. When The interviewer mentioned maple syrup, he got really petulant
no becasue there is a synergy there, usa refines the oil and sell it back to canada, canada doesnt have the capacity now to refine their own needs. Thats the beauty of free trade and how we can rub eachothers bellies.

That's where you should work on. Other markets need other products. The tariffs won't make the European end user buy more American cars
Sheet, even Americans don't need those overpriced, brick-nosed, gas guzzling monstrosities they sell in the US as pick up trucks. I don't care what you haul in the weekend, nobody needs 700hp engines that will barely get you from one pump to the next. Europe is aware of the very real threats that climate change poses, and we are trying to do something about it. Furthermore, our cities predate the automobile. There isn't room for big cars! So our laws and import taxes favour EVs and smaller vehicles in general. We won't rebuild our cities so we can choke to death faster, ya orange muppet!
The main reason that the US is not selling more to EU is because they use a lot of things in their food and more that we have made illegal. if they want more trade, maybe make better stuff :)
Agree, we don't want that poison they call food. I.e their pork is banned in 160 countries along with numerous other American products for good reason. Their "cars" are a monstrosity we not only don't want, as not only are they so inefficient and would cost us a fortune to run but their is a lot of our roads they wouldn't even fit on. US goods are manufactured to make the companies making them maximum amount of money not for quality; lower standards and even in the US inflated prices compared to the higher quality goods here in the UK and EU. Why therefore would we want them at all
It's not just EU members, just about all of the countries in Europe have those higher standards. In fact the food standards, used by the EU were introduced by the UK (later expanded, yes but that's way it started).
Europeans simply cannot drive 'Murican cars, since we have to import the feul. Gasolne is like 400% more expensive in the EU. So European car producers made their cars as feul efficient as they could, whilst 'Murican cars are savage feul beasts
EU have plenty of food and made to higher standards. US cars appear unsophisticated to me - and too much cheap hard plastics inside. During my life I had SAAB, Volvo and Audi... I stick to them. I did until recently drink Californian wine - no more. All my life I bought Levis - no more. We have plenty of wine made in EU - same for jeans. What I'm saying is because of what trump have done the last 10 days, I will avoid any US brand when ever possible from now on... I lost trust in the US. When I bought an EV in 2023 I dismissed Tesla just because of musk. Had the US better cars and made food at the standard we expect in EU things would have been different... that ship has sailed

US vehicles and agricultural products don’t reach European standards. If they did, the price would increase. It’s a no-win scenario. US goods are cheaper, because they’re of poorer quality standards. To be accepted in Europe, they’d need to be massively re-engineered, which would make them uneconomic to buy. (Maybe!)
There are some who will claim that higher standards are a barrier to free trade. Adulterated food, unsafe vehicles, etc. etc. are the consequence of unregulated markets and it has taken a century to remove such things in the free world. Except, the licence to produce dangerous and toxic goods exists in USOFA where profits are more important than citizens. It (USOFA) needs to be stopped.

American cars don't even fit on European roads and paeking lots, they are mostly the size of houses and require ladders to climb into, they consume more fuel than heating an average household, and the build quality is awful. A few years ago Chevrolet left the European markets after years of hardship. Consumer review polls stated, that Chevrolet-owners' satisfaction with their cars was rock bottom, they topped the lists of breakdowns and malfunctions, and most owners stated that they would NOT but a Chevrolet again. US food is infamous for wildly exaggerated use of hormones, genetically modified contents, penicillin, chloride, artificial coloring (many of which are internationally acknowledged as posing health risks) European consumers don't want that. Very simple. We do buy a lot of US services, however, something which Trump conveniently forgets. We would also be buying more natural gas, if possible, but production can't keep up with demand, so that one's not on Europeans, but on the US itself.
Roman empire transformed the continent as we now know. The US didn't... As a historian, Cesar is probably angry at you now Xd hahahaha I always seem to hear benny hill back in mi mind when listening to Trump
Just a reminder: 110 countries in the world banned most of the US food products. Furthermore, Europe is producing it´s own food. We Germans agricultered the shyt out of our country and Poland is probably the biggest food producer in Europe (besides Ukraine). What Trump didn´t get so far is, that the EU already started to exit the US weapon market in his 1st term. Speaking of weapons...so many dual use products actually come from the EU and are badly needed for the US industry. From Rheinmetall canons for the Abrams to tiny ball bearings, the patent and tech is located in the EU! Noone, not even Taiwan could mass produce Semiconductors without machines from ASML and lenses from Zeiss - imagine this scenario for Intel and other tech companies... Yeah, sometimes it´s the little details, that can cause the big surprise and let the brown things hit the fan. Trump never understood economy, his countless bankrupt "projects" prove it, even a Casino went down the drain - hilarious.
You don't even see the irony in the fact you are literally parroting propaganda about Trump. Instead of listening exclusively to CNN and MSNBC, you should seek actual information and not political activism from "news" channels who openly work for the Democratic Party. Did you know that over 85% of all press coverage of Trump in the US is negative, while almost 90% was positive about Kamala Harris? The media is not supposed to give its opinion, take sides, or tell you for whom to vote, yet, this is exactly what the US media does. For all intents and purpose, the actual people who would put America under a dictatorship are the one who spread this propaganda you are blindly parroting because you are utterly ignorant of the facts.
Fun fact: A significant portion of the revenue Trump made in the last trade war with china was used to compensate farmers for their losses. On top of that GDP went down and 300.000 people lost their job. Tariffs will make you „really rich“ alright.
The quality of american food does not match the minimum requirements of European standards. We need to protect ourselves from poisoning. America… once a friend now a threat and bully. May Europe stand together (incl. Canada, Mexico) and not step back.
I have yet to see the world to say no to the U.S. Until then I will be skeptical, because for some, inexplicable reason, there are still many U.S. enthusiasts.
We can't import stuff from the USA if they don't comply with EU regulations. Most of USA made foods are so unhealthy you can call them slow acting poisons. And vehicles like the Cybertruck do not pass EU safety regulations. And then there's the fact that Americans name stuff a thing even though it isn't the thing, which is against EU regulations. An example is Chocolate. There're guidelines for ingredients of what makes chocolate and the USA uses like 5% of those ingredients, mixes it with cheap junk and labels it as "Chocolate" because someone sneezed some cacao powder over that shit. Based on other Europeans' experience trying US-made chocolate it is legit something I would not put in my mouth even if you'd pay me.
Much of the American products is illegal in Europe. That’s very much why Europe don’t buy the stuff. We maybe should be offended that US don’t buy moldy cheese (actually not dangerous at al and are delicious) and kinder eggs from Europe 😅 With that said… Trump threatening about tariffs falls very flat.
If US manufacturers actually made cars that were both approved and usable on EU roads they'd probably sell more. But they don't do that, so they don't sell into the EU.
The plastic egg in the Kinder Surprise has the same colour ( yes with 'ou' for you Muricans out there, because that is English ) as their 'cheese like' product, so they think they can eat it! There is a video on this platform that shows an Murican/USian ( Not North-American, because that includes Canada and Mexico, let alone American ) couple trying European food. The woman actually tries to eat the plastic. If an adult tries that, what do you think children will try?
The US has shot itself in the foot. It has become an unpredictable bully and lost friendships and alliances built up over 80 years. It appears that US much vaunted democracy has insufficient guardrails against a tyrant. Other countries will take heed and reduce their involvement both commercial and geopolitical
The trouble partly coincides with the fact they don't even recognise that what is happening is tyranny.... The majority seem to only see the surface level detail and have no clue what it all means in reality
Why on earth would anyone in their right mind want to buy an American car or eat food grown there. The automobiles are so far behind the rest of the world and the food is full of chemicals and preservatives and tastes terrible. People in the USA purchase both because they have no idea how much better things are outside their country.
Canada and Mexico laugh their asses out. Trump made a deal that was already there. Trump won!! For as long as you keep shouting you won... and hope they believe you.
I know an American here in rural EU, and he did import his US car years ago, but it's far too big for the local medieval towns (you probably know how close those ancient houses were built) and narrow country roads, and in more recent years doesn't conform to EU standards so can't legally be driven anymore. Most US cars simply aren't suitable for Europe. We still have many old vehicles that old fashioned mechanics work on, and manufactures where it's easy to secure the parts if something goes wrong.. As to food, there's a reason why so many US food products are banned in the EU, the consequences would put a terrible strain on the health services as increasing numbers of people get sicker with age.
Trust me, France will be dancing in the rain when other European countries stop following the US. They've been banging this drum for decades. US companies can't even operate here, because of non-complinace with EU labour laws. Also the US arms industry will *suffer* the only reason my country (Denmark) buys American is because we have lots of joint operations and we have been right there next to you in both Afghanistan and Iraq, but i sincerely hope that's over now, i hope we uppend our part of the F35 program, we can send the 27 F35 we just bought to Ukraine, and then buy Swedish and French aircraft instead. Continue ad naeseum with all military material bought from the US, because there are EU equivalents to all of it, some of it is better suited for European needs and most of it is considerable cheaper. US citizens should probably realize, that in large part the reason you have foreign trade partners and the fact that almost all trade deals favour you, is because your politicians have lobbied for that reality for decades, that's over now. It's not because you produce better things, nor do you even produce cheaper things it is literally only a thing, because it has been willed into existence, and it's willed oit of existence even faster than it took to build. The US spend nearly a century lobbying for Europe to stay dependent on the US for military needs, Donny just wasted all those costs to the US taxpayer.
It's time all European countries who bought F35s and the like denounce their contracts simultaneously. Here's looking at you UK, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Czechia, Finland, Germany, Poland... Canadians and Aussies would be wise to do the same. We've got better alternatives in Europe !
What? US companies operate all over EU. They follow local laws. This never was issue. It only was issue when people in USA realized how exploited they are in USA compared to employees of same company but in EU.
''The tariffs are gonna make us very rich''. Yeah, right, as if other countries would not react, or as if thousands of American companies did not depend on international trade, and on peaceful trade relations with other countries. What a stupid statement....
Nobody ever gets rich on tariffs. U dont get any extra money into ur country, ur just fleecing ur own population. Very limited tariffs can be beneficial to protect essential manufacturing in ur country, but only if that manufacturing already exists. Blanket tariffs is what made the Great Depression. The guy is stupider than ever. And Americans still support it, a majority actually support his hairbrained tariffs. They will learn the hard way.
We don´t thake US cars. This may be true. They are designed for use in the US, then simply don´t fit European requirements/goals. For sure I will prefer locally build cars. But even if the locally build cars are that huge, petrol consuming, environmental nonsense ... I would not buy them. I´d rather have a small sports car. It's not rocket science: I could also complain that Florida doesn't buy snow plows from Europe.
I still think people are sad for buying Germans cars, given their poor reliability, compared with the likes of Kia for example but, they're still generally better than US cars.
@@Thurgosh_OG That´s fair. They are highly engineerd, have lot´s of electronics, mechanics and software in them, are high standard. It's not rocket science: I could also complain that Florida doesn't buy many snow plows from Europe. But yes, the downside is, the more technique you put in the more can fail, the more difficult and the more costly is a repair. One does not "need" this luxury ... but there are people who like this kind of luxury. They are not the most reliable cars, and they are not the worst cars. Good thing is every single consumer can decide what brand and type of car he wants. And that´s how it should be.
@@Thurgosh_OG I don't know what you're on about, German cars are generally pretty reliable. Obviously there are exceptions but they exist everywhere, for the most part German cars are considered reliable. And thinking people are "sad" for buying German cars is a bit silly. I just bought a 2009 3 series diesel in the UK, paid £2300 for it, had it checked, MOTd, serviced and it runs perfectly. It would've literally cost me more to buy a Ford Fiesta. Doesn't make me sad for going for the cheaper option that's also nicer.
6:40 why would we import overpriced low quality cars or illegal food or other sub-standard products? "why wouldn't you let us abuse you financially?" - is not a legitimate grievance.
The funny thing is, that Trump got from Mexico (and Canada) (more or less) what was already negotiated under Biden😂😂😂 The sad part is, that Trumps fanbase (and Trump himself) thinks this is a huge win....

Us Europeans don't want to live in the US, we don't want their products, we just don't want to downgrade. I lived in the US temporarily bcuz I got married to an American and I was going to get a green card and start living there just to start a life. I thought maybe it wasn't gonna be that bad even tho I was informed of how bad it is to live there, but the country is so fkd up that I literally had to stop my green card process and leave. Imagine my shock that even the bad things I thought were stretched or fake about the US were actually true... I cannot consider the US a 1st world country or even a "civilized place". Sorry if what I said was offensive. But if some American reads this and thinks "Meh, I don't have it that bad this guy must be full of sh" Well it's because you just haven't experienced better.

How stupid bro, why they don buy US cars? Theyre built for the US market. They to big and needs to much gasoline. Gasoline here is mich more expensive like in the US and the streets are smaller. It has practical issues, why the US dont buy european Phones? Maybe even they buy iphone, but thats okay. Even woth tons of tariffs, they wouldnt buy more US cars except tesla.
The only problem with that, is that Canadian food regulations and labour laws are (while better than the US) not up to par for the EU common market. Canada joining the EU, would be massive for the Canadian domestic market. They'd have to implement a sea of regulations first of all.
@ The military industrial complex in Europe is actually huge. Sweden makes or licenses a lot of US military guns (Bofors) for example. It'd be funny if the company pulled the license.

So. I'm in the UK. Do I buy a car that looks and drives like a dumpster or a BMW, Merc, Jaguar, Porche etc etc. Also, I'm more likely to part -exchange it, and I'll get fuel performance that would make US manufacturers weep. Guess what i will go for..
Ryan, start stocking up with toilet paper as soon as possible. Otherwise you'll have to use dollar bills. American cars are built using parts from all over the world, particularly local suppliers like Canada and Mexico, and China too. Most manufacturers make "world cars", so if you cut off suppliers, you will have a hard time to fill the gap.
True & parts often pass from country to another as part of the assembly before being installed in vehicles in the US so there would numerous tariffs of some of the parts.

On the Freedom of the Few and the Restriction of the Many Ladies and gentlemen, we live in a world where freedom is held in the highest regard. But whose freedom are we speaking of? The freedom of the individual, the freedom of the people-or the freedom of the powerful? The United States of America prides itself on being the land of the free. It claims to be the shining example of democracy, self-determination, and economic success. But if we look closely, we see a contradiction so glaring that it strikes us with full force. This government, which calls itself "of the people, by the people, for the people," does not treat its citizens as a sovereign community but as a mere workforce, a resource to be exploited. It offers its people no security, no social safety net, no mechanisms to protect against life's uncertainties. No-the government leaves individuals to fend for themselves in a system that benefits only the strong, the rich, the powerful. While corporations and economic elites enjoy unrestricted freedom, citizens are bound by rules and constraints that keep them dependent. If we look at the economy, we see the same picture: it is not about human freedom, but corporate freedom. The United States has created a system in which economic interests stand above all else-above the law, above morality, above the protection of the people. They call it a "free market," but it is nothing more than the rule of the economy over democracy. And this approach extends to the products this country exports. The quality of food, the safety of consumer goods, the protection of nature-these are achievements in Europe, hard-won through centuries of political struggle. We have learned that progress means not only increasing economic prosperity but also protecting human well-being. That freedom does not mean allowing the strongest to act unchecked, but rather creating a balance between prosperity and social responsibility. Yet the United States follows a different path. It pursues growth at any cost. It allows growth hormones in its meat, pesticides in its fields, genetically modified food without clear labeling. It treats food not as a source of life, but as a commodity, one to be produced at the lowest cost for the highest possible profit. And now, they demand that Europe open its doors, that we lower our standards, that we abandon the protection of our citizens-in the name of free trade! I ask you: Is it free trade when one side is forced to abandon its protective measures so that the other may sell its goods without restriction? Is it freedom when corporations are allowed to act without limits, while citizens bear the consequences of these decisions? No, this is not freedom-it is coercion, disguised as progress! And if we are not vigilant, we will suffer the same fate. Even in Europe, there are those who have become detached from the people, who sit in high offices and no longer listen to the voice of the citizens. Even here, we see a growing tendency to prioritize economic interests over social justice. And that is precisely why we must not yield! Because if we allow economic pressure to erode our values, if we weaken our standards out of convenience or compliance, we will lose exactly what sets us apart from those who have already succumbed to the dictates of the market. Look at America! See what happens when economic power grows unchecked, when the balance between government and the people is lost! See how democracy is undermined when the influence of money outweighs the voice of the people! This is the path that leads to authoritarianism. This is the path that leads to a future where the few rule and the many serve. Let us therefore say with a firm voice: No! No to an economy that does not serve the people! No to a politics that betrays its citizens! No to a trade system that forces us to abandon our principles! Europe must stand firm. Our standards are not commodities. Our values are not negotiable. Because true freedom, ladies and gentlemen, is not the freedom of the strong to oppress the weak. True freedom is an order that protects all, upholds justice, and places human dignity at its center-not profit! Moreover, I am of the opinion that the rule of the market over democracy must be broken.
It's funny... Only in 'Murica can the word freedom, be abused to an extent where it has lost all meaning. There are people in third-world countries who are more free than the citizens of the USA. Oh the irony..
There are so many European alternatives anyway, I don’t get why people still buy Tesla cars here. I have a VW EV, my husband has a Skoda EV. I know people with BMW/ Mercedes/ Jaguar/ Peugeot EVs. Our infrastructure no longer over-depends on Tesla chargers. There are far more universal chargers everywhere. There’s absolutely no reason to have a Tesla.
@ As well as the Musk factor they are not particularly well made, servicing and warranty is a nightmare and like most European EVs the battery pack and much of the electronics are imported from China and Taiwan anyway. The only positive thing you can say for them is at least they've got a lot of Americans into more sensibly sized cars.
A TV show in The Netherlands/Holland tested chicken for sale in am American shop and a preserved animal sample in a Dutch college biology lab. The American chicken breast had higher levels of formaldehyde. Americans were eating what was considered embalmed meat in Holland. Before claiming European food standards are that high. Our MINIMUM standards still have quite a lot of additives. It's just most food is quite a bit higher than the minimum standards.
Trump is 100% correct Europeans do not really buy American cars or huge amounts of agricultural products. The reasons are many but for the first American cars don't really work in Europe. Size, emissions, safety are not comparable (see cyber truck). Europe would have to change everything around car regulation to accommodate. For agriculture we don't accept GM crops (I think only one or 2 is allowed currently) and the American meat industry is awful! Europeans do not want to eat meats that have been injected with growth hormones this is just outright banned! These cannot be changed at a European level they have to be agreed at the national level first before becoming EU law and all nations have to agree. Most countries would never accept. Either Europe and Trump will fudge something together to make it look like all sides have won or this is going to go on into the next election cycle in 4 years. Could be longer he could push for a law change to get another term similar to Putin.
I'm gonna put a tariff on my local grocery shop. The trad imbalance is horrendous! I put thousands upon thousands into that store - and I cannot see them putting much money into my pockets! Unfair!
The tariff isn't paid by the seller. The tariff is paid by the buyer. You putting a tariff on any business that you buy things from means you have to pay more for that supply. Are you going to put those extra tariffs you charge yourself when you buy stuff into your own pocket? That's why DJTs claim about imposing tariffs on foreign imports only hurts one group of people to begin with - the companies who are buying these foreign goods (ie US importers). They will then be forced to put their prices up - so then it is the buyers of these goods (the American people) who get hurt. So, in the short term, more American customers are putting more money into the US government. The idea is to ultimately put importers off buying these foreign goods and instead buy goods from US suppliers - but, as other people have said, US made goods, for the most part, are crap. US cars are rubbish (that's why people from outside the US don't buy them), US food is crap (nobody outside the US will touch Hershey's chocolate or that disgusting sweet cake stuff that they call bread) - so, the US public will have to decide whether to pay more for their decent stuff, or eat and drive even worse food and cars than they already have been doing. The big losers are the American public - but unfortunately they can't see it, they just see this orange raving lunatic pounding his fist like Hitler and shouting he is going to increase tariffs. It's like people in any other country cheering because their government says they are going to increase taxes (which doesn't happen, only in 'murica!).
I'm sorry but the United States is not making a good impression on the world and especially on its historical friends, it is moving towards isolationism

Completely agree, ban all us military equipment from EU
There's a recent vid in which a price (and innovation/technology) comparison is made between US made and EU made military gear was made. And the EU stuff came out on top... Trump has NOT learned by history... Tariffs were one of the major contributing factors for the WORST (1930's), economic disaster in American history.
Actually I heard that Harley are moving their main manufacturing to Mexico!
i think it was technically on motorbikes,
but it reality the only USA motorbike with a real fan base in the EU IS harley davidson :-).
the high quality steel production is a very symbolic strength of the EU industry,
the UNION itself started as the economic union of coal and STEEL !!
a lot of compition from unfair to cheep chinese steel, was managed by EU steel being higher quality, so any bigger suspension bridge and such, EU steel was often choses, also in the USA,
so the sudden import ban could have made building build right then in the USA also slightly less safe, since they suddenly had to look for other steel if(in most cases) they could not bare the 25% extra tariff..
That is not true, the EU is buying a lot of agricultural products from the USA for billions. But European people dont buy on credit cards.

US vehicles and agricultural products don’t reach European standards. If they did, the price would increase. It’s a no-win scenario. US goods are cheaper, because they’re of poorer quality standards.

On the Freedom of the Few and the Restriction of the Many
Ladies and gentlemen, we live in a world where freedom is held in the highest regard.
All i can say: BRAVO! So true... 👍👍👍
Very well written. Have skmmed through it but shall read it again later on this evening.
Thank you
👏👏👏👏👍

The best thing to do, as far as possible, is to ignore Trump and the USA. The one thing that *really* gets to a narcissist is ignoring them.
