So I have an 03 type s and my amp wiring looks nothing like this…idk what to do it also doesn’t have the stock amp in it as the person who owned it before me had a sound system in it
this video is only good for getting past the stock amp, if you've got something else going on it obv won't be too much help lol What are you trying to do? I'm assuming it came with aftermarket speakers and amp, the current setup is probably (head unit) RCA preouts -> custom amp -> custom speakers. if you're just trying to upgrade the HU just use the existing rca cables for the preouts on your new HU
with my aftermarket radio they sounded normal like how they're supposed to sound, your sound will naturally depend on your radio and speaker setup. this method cuts out the factory Bose sub in the spare tire but you can rewire it manually to your new radio if you like
Hey bro did this work with the 18 gauge wire? I’m installing a unit and it looks like the only way I’ll get sound is to bypass the stupid amp, but I don’t wanna do more wire cutting and splicing
yeah that was the entire video lol, 18 gauge solid core fits in the plug snugly and does the exact same thing as all the other people do where they cut and splice that harness. This way you can also just unplug the wires you jumped and plug into the stock amp no harm done if you want to go back to the stock radio
Installed a pioneer head unit today on my type s the static noise is making me crazy i almost put back the factory radio.. will doing this removes the static noises?
yeah, I'm assuming your music is already at a normal/loud level even when on the lowest volume setting? that's because your setup is being amplified by both the pioneer and also the factory bose amp. you can either get a harness like this: www.amazon.com/Metra-70-1725-Amplifier-Integration-Harness/dp/B0007WRQEE that uses the preouts on the pioneer so only the factory bose amp is being used, or you can do what I did in the video and only the pioneer amplifier will be used
Yes you can hear it on the normal/low volume, but when i bump up the volume i couldn’t really hear it.. So the harness you linked up where does that goes? Is it different from the harness that’s connected to the factory wiring behind the head unit? Thanks for the quick respond man i appreciate it!
@@joejavate1469 the harness I linked is just a different version of this one that you probably used that connects the pioneer to the factory radio harness: www.amazon.com/Metra-70-1721-Harness-1998-2005-Vehicles/dp/B0002BF09S -- This one uses the amplifier inside the pioneer, the one I linked in the last comment bypasses it
@@shadowgaleshale9218 The reason I made this video was just to say that 18 gauge solid core wire will fit snugly and won't just fall out, I don't remember if I needed to bottom them out or not. The only advice I can really give here is that you can probably probe the harness side and the end of the wire you stuck in for continuity, and once you've confirmed the connection's good make sure you're following the diagram properly. You can see the little metal pins inside the plug, make sure you're putting the wire in at the right spot
Holy shit thanks for replying on this ancient video. Btw have u seen any cases where someone isn’t getting sound after the bypass? Happened to me and not sure where to start looking
@@shadowgaleshale9218 I haven't personally- just to confirm the only thing you modified was the amp wiring and nothing with the radio correct? If you still have the stock radio in, the amp from the radio itself is essentially non-amplified, you'll have to turn the audio all the way up to hear anything at all
@@reggiecopterit has a Kenwood system from the last owner, none of the pre outs are being used. Looks like the owner used the 1721 métra harness. Doing this bypass, sound doesn’t work. Plugging in the Amp makes sound come out again
Yeah, since you're bridging specific signals (ex: front right positive output from the radio to the front right positive speaker). That's why you need the pinout from the forum post in the description
Thank you I've installed my sub but couldn't figure out why it wasn't playing

good tutorial this helped a lot!
Can you sent a picture of the routing of the wire
Wiring diagram of the plug is in the description if that's what you're asking

didnt work for me, 18 solid core wire, strip the ends and push them into the correct holes?
do I need to push it to the very bottom of the connector hole?
