- This vlog is full of other musicians & artists that were all part of my chaotic week where I traveled almost 5000 miles in the air and on the road to make it to 5 gigs. I’ve done hundreds of shows as a hired gun musician but this is the most distance I’ve ever tried to pull off in this amount of time. Savannah was the first of these shows that I booked and even though it was in Utah, there was plenty of leeway for Savannah to get myself and the rest of her band to & from the show. By the time the gig actually arrived I would be carefully calculating flight times, necessary sleep, traffic jams and rental car breakdowns. I wasn’t thinking about filming at the time but it did end up taking us two different cars to drive the two & a half hours between Vegas and Cedar City.
I had always planned on being back in Tennessee for the Monday night Suffragettes show but after adding Jessica’s show in Alabama and the Dead Deads called me to help on the Candlebox tour, it officially got crazy. Saying no to a couple of these gigs would have gotten me a lot more sleep and would have required a lot less preparation but the shows developed in a way that kept making them a, “yes”. Now that it has been pulled off, I’m thrilled with the decision.
I’m 19 years old and I’m a professional musician, songwriter & artist based out of Nashville. I play lots of instruments but the ones that I’m hired to play most often are drums, cajon and bass. I’ve been posting music related videos on UA-cam since I was 9 years old and began playing professionally at 14. I’ve always loved music and I’m grateful that it’s also become how I now make a living. This channel started as a combination of my fascination with drums and UA-camrs and it’s now turned into a much larger music and music business diary. My goals haven’t changed all that much over the years and stay pretty simple. I’d love to keep making music and hope to keep getting better at it.

Only a rock goddess could pull of five states, multiple instruments, venues and bands in back to back days. I am impressed. And she does it with class and talent unmatched in modern music industry.

I believe you've paid your dues given the amount you've studied music as a whole. Clearly. You're a conductor and performer. That's a strong combination for cultivating your art for presentation and positive reception.

On the bands full of Nashville hired guns, there is often a designated band leader that makes some arrangement decisions, runs practice & sometimes a whole lot more if the artist wants or needs it. More & more, artists and other band leaders are looking for my input on those sorts of things which feels quite nice but I also get that I'm usually the youngest one in the room, sometimes by a lot, and I'm perfectly happy to get the calls regardless right now. I know that's not exactly what you're talking about but it's just to say that I understand your sentiment and I'm with ya :) Lots more to come and there are SO many other talented musicians so I want to continue to be a part of it all.
@miamialynn the youngest in the room thing is unfortunate. I don't have a follow-up for this thought. Art is immune to age, though this often isn't the case in your industry.

Good on you doing the work to make it all fit together. Times are coming where you will have to turn down some great opertunites due to conflicting schedules. Thanks to you and your dad for manaaging to get some filming in to make this vlog, while your had so much going on. So many internationl fans don't get the priviallge of seeing you play live, so we value these vlogs a lot. Many stateside to I imagine.

I really appreciate that and i love hearing that these vlogs are worth doing because I really enjoy watching them as well, maybe even more so on a run like this where there was no time to reflect at all. Mostly, all I was thinking about was when the next soundcheck was and what songs I had be ready for.

I mostly just discovered Candlebox with this tour but those dudes are really great players, the singer's voice is so good and they couldn't have been more generous with their gear, stage & time. I can't say enough good things about them, seriously, good people. I could certainly tell that song must have been one of their hits when the audience was as loud as the PA on the chorus. Pretty incredible to see & hear.

Hey Mia. Another great travel vlog. As I've said before, other musicians want to work with you because of your talent, humbleness and professionalism. Don't worry about sleep, it's overrated. Just adopt the philosophy of Weird Al Yankovic and his song, "I'll Be Mellow When I'm Dead". You always slay it on every instrument you play. I'm curious why the Dead Dead's don't have a regular bass player? A singer by themselves I kind of understand if they need to put together a band for a show, but an actual band usually has a set group of players. Or maybe there's a high turnover rate in the music business that I'm unaware of. Anyway, that's about all I have to say. Stay safe and stop getting older because that's making me older and I'm already too old as it is. 😛
:) it can be very tough to keep a band intact and when you talk about touring, that puts even more stress on any member that isn't a full-time musician and has to juggle traditional employment. I never really got a full picture on why I got the call but it was certainly an easy yes for me, even when I saw what it was going to do with travel compilations. I really love getting the call and then being able to show up and see that look of relief & joy at how we sound. It makes for some very, very rewarding moments and it's just a blast to me.
random thoughts: a) forearm crib notes, smart b) that one dd's song sounds like Metallica "sad but true" c) Abba touring with Mia Morris on drums..i say yes d) bikinis and boots, "best name for a festival" nominee e) with a forehand flick like that, may we please see some vlog footage of you playing disc golf f) turn up those Marshall amps to 11
:) i need to get out to some more frisbee golf now that I'm getting some more control with the flicks. It's been all ultimate for the last two years and I'm mostly a cutter. Some of those big dudes have crazy hucks that hang forever and I like the exercise of trying to get there before they land anyway!
4 a.m. flight which means your probably up at about 2:30 that's hard, and hell you are busy, no looping fails this time, have fun and enjoy yourself

It was on the news that the rocket in Alabama had been removed. Something about hurricanes. The first time I saw it I was surprised. If you've never been up close with a rocket you should be impressed. Some day soon I hope I have an opportunity to see longer parts of Mia's rock magic with mega-bass playing rock as lead. Must be ownership issues. One day Mia will own something and only smart artists who play bass as lead guitar will get a lice.

That was Sweetwater Pavilion up in Ft. Wayne. First time I'd been there but that whole facility is completely decked out and so cool.

So much music in such a short time. I'd be interested to know your IQ. Specially on the drums. On guitar or bass, if you hit a bad chord once or twice, very few will notice. I agree that it's nearly impossible for a band to be any better than their drummer. I've seen and heard some examples of that exact scenario play out for better and worse.
