- Oh man, to be top of the World on the Fort William Downhill Track. What a dream come true! I've watched so many edits on YT and the World Cup Race runs, and if I'm honest I thought it can't be that bad. HAHAHAHA.
Well it's not bad, it's absolutely awesome. It's more the fact this World Cup Track is far from simple. It's super techical in areas and steep in others which makes it hard to pick a good line choice when you're new. So it's more about just making it safely to the bottom for us meer mortals. My hat goes off to all those that can shred this with ease. In a way I wish I'd had more energy and more time here. I'm sure with a few more runs I'd nail certain sections and make the whole run so much smoother.
What an experience though. Waiting to drop into the trail from the famous start position. Knowing whos been there before me felt strange, but in a positive way of course. Doing this track with my mates making it all so much more enjoyable. Deciding not to attempt the river gap was a good move. I'd buggered my wrist 3-4 weeks prior to this and it was already causing me problems. So, I didn't want to bin it and end the Scottish adventure.
Well that's that. It's finally ticked off the list. Fort William World Track Complete. Now try it for yourself.

Absolutely loved that. Looks really hard and things look big even on Go Pro!! Have been watching Lewis Buchanan testing here the last few weeks. Crazy what those guys do and how fast they are!!

I like watching a mtb video where I can appreciate how hard that looks but also made it look do-able, obviously I wouldn't do the gaps but the rest looks awesome, the gopro effect In full play. The fact you were dragging you rear brake give us an idea how steep some sections were. Great video

Now that looks difficult and I'm sure it's even more difficult than it looks on video
it isn't as bad as you think. Riding it for the first time and not know what comes up is scary but once you've tried the different bits you have a much better run.
Nice run! Its interesting to see how its changed in the last couple years. I just did it a few weeks ago and avoided exactly the same gaps you did :)

how do you avoid getting rim dents and flats from the rim and tyre being compressed and puncturing?
Just improve over time and try not to hit sections too hard. Not easy but doable
