This is a great video, lot of detail and know-how. I would appreciate your advice on removing the projector to clean it, as my bulb burned out and looks like it fogged up the inside of the lens. Is there a way to do that from the rear port? Would hate having to remove the sealed shield 😕
thanks for the compliment, i do my best. so if there's dirt and dust on the projector lens it'sself you can reach trough the turn signal hole and clean that(not 100% but something) If there is moisture in the headlight pop off both rear covers and blow it out with compressed air, should only take a few seconds
I'm not sure how to look that part up individually and it might be near impossible to buy it seperate but yes that is the parking light led strip. If you're ballin on a budget like myself you could unplug the other side that way the car is balanced (there's also a good chance it came unplugged inside the headlight) Cheers

How are you doing Shoaib thanks for the subscription, you don't necessarily need to buy a new headlight the first thing I would check would be the connector the back of the headlight, take the connector off and look in there and make sure nothing is getting hot but some Dielectric grease on it and reconnect Your next step would be to swap the LED controller for a known good one, the cool thing is is if you only have one headlight with an LED going out you can just try the one off the other headlight to roll it out before you even spend any money and if that's your problem you can find them cheap on eBay.
there are 2 tiny leds that light up then entire diffuser, they can be seen a few times in the video 9:18, 22:28, 24:45 afaik if the chip is going bad, dirty, misaligned or being driven by a bad driver or the diffuser is craked/dirty these can all lead to a yellow/faded look
@@tomcIII if you haven't noticed any moisture in the headlight the first and easiest thing to do in my opinion would be to swap out the module on the bottom of the headlight
The Euro I have have the same exact projector as the usdm lights. As far as cowarding the cutoff field that's not really something you can do with vcds unless I'm not understanding what you're asking
@@96ej When the medium lights are on and leveled, the bright spot on the beam is not leveled, it seems to me that the cut off shields are cutting more light on one side than the other... I post some pictures below, one is in medium beam, the other is in high beam... You can clearly see that bright spot on the left beam is lower, even though the lights are leveled. The part I bought is 8V0941043B on Audi site … is the daytime running lamp in there … Not sure what is BI-XENON headlamps .. I just hope and pray it isn’t the regular white lights . I payed 1,474 for the part … Only reason why I did was because I cracked the glass for my driver side headlamp last year from hitting a cone on the highway… After the recent hurricane here in California, I got rain in my headlamp from the crack and the daytime running light turned off … I hope after I put in the headlamp assembly it fixes the problem…
Bi-Xenon just means that your headlight uses a Xenon bulb, in the bi part just means that the projector in the headlight does the high and the low function AKA bi (2 functions) If it's not a show car next time you need to park that big I would definitely shop on eBay you probably could have saved around $1,000

Hey thanks for the comment and great UA-cam Name by the way :-) so if your headlight itself is barely on hopefully it's just the bulb or maybe it's not plugged in all the way, if the DRL is going out it's most likely the little heat sink looking thing at the top of the headlight which is easy to get to. If the part under the headlight is going out you have loosen the bumper on the affected side to be able to get the headlight out
@@96ej appreciate your time to reply, thank you. The bulb was the culprit and the DRL, I checkes the module, it was oxidated and pretty much dead, orderes a replacement part.
1 - the side markers can be turned off or less bright with VCDS/OBD11 2 - not Europe cars have amberg turn signal on that DRL but the LED headlights have that. 2015-2016 cause that's the years that they had this as an option Teoretically you can take the led module from a LED headlight that year and install it in this and run the connector I've never seen an led headlight opened up but this is just theoretically. Maybe will work maybe not. Maybe we can find the part number just for the led bulbs inside the headlight and order just that. Idk

You might want to check this 2 out. First one is what we have inside of the headlight as the DRL module. As you can see it only has white diodes. For most people an 8 Your probably better off with a pair of lights from alibaba Or I'll sell you 2 sets of lights and an extra lens for $400. (One set is oem euro)
@@96ej I just completed a DRL mod on mine, so I've successfully opened the headlights, removed the permaseal from the channel and resealed it. If that's the difficult aspect of dealing with the transfer I'd say I can handle it. Was more worried about the internals, didn't really pay attention while I was working on it
If you want some European internals that don't have the Amber reflector on the side I'd be willing to ship just those out. I also have the set of Evo XR projectors that I used but you could also use a set of G5 projectors too

It really depends what's broken. If someone cranked on it too hard and ran it off the threads within the headlight that can be fixed but it's a pain in the butt
As far as I know it should be on the bottom of the headlight. I can't speak for others but on the Bi-xenon headlights there are two modules and one says d3s for the headlight, you'd want the other one
🇺🇸Funny fact. Here in USA we complain about side markers that they don't look good and EU spec is nicer but in Europe many people changes their headlights to US spec as with side markers car looks way better. Side markers are there for safety reason. Personally i really like side markers on cars.

I'm something like a B5 Passat I absolutely love the full side marker, however on something like a B5 Audi I think the little half marker looks terrible. Hi I’m here looking for a man to help fix my broken headlight on my A3 😂 no but seriously- a bird crashed into my driver’s side headlight and broke the lens. Bought the lens and no one can figure out how to replace it. Now, my entire headlight is out because rain got in there even though I taped it up before the storm. I’m also having suspension issues so my car sounds crunchy 😅
So as far as replacing the lens goes it's not like it used to be, you have Perma seal and it definitely takes longer, the easiest way I have found is to cut off the lenses and then clean out the channels and then replace the Perma seal with butyl rubber Actually the easiest thing you can do is replace yours with a used housing and then even if yours is broken you should still be able to sell it on eBay. As for the suspension clunk when I had my car I only ever ran into two clunks, the first one was the rear sway bar end links, and the second clunk I had was the strut mount on the front driver side.

@@96ej so there's still a fix for this you think? The long strip on the top is the one that's going yellowish. That vertical part is still white.

Yeah you're good that's the right part, DRL is built into the headlight
