Amazing video. One question... what are you doing when you say “let’s just get rid of that” at 9:13? The zoom goes further in, but I don’t understand what it’s meant to emulate.
So in Crop Mode on the R5 how much do you need to zoom in in post to get the right aspect ratio? Plus, given choice of shooting the Vazen lenses on R5 or C70, which would you recommend?
@@cammackey Thanks for clarifying. I wasn't expecting a film filter to be used on a lens review and was confused. From 0:56-1:01 the colors and grain were doing something funky and wanted to rule out the cause.
@@zanin.lindsay rule breaker I guess haha. I kinda despise UA-camrs tho I guess I am one. This is an art that we do, not suppose to always be a science. For me, anamorphic is for a vibe and visual ascetic. Which is what I was chasing personally
@@cammackey I don't disagree, and though there aren't any rules to this sort of thing, I just think showcasing gear and lenses in a review or demo at their baseline without any treatment is more helpful. Again it doesn't need to be scientific, it just has to show what it is capable of so that we can make informed decisions in creating our art. I only wanted to confirm because with the film effect filter added the lenses looked really soft compared to the actual sharpness they have later in the video. I was pretty much ready to write them off until I asked lol.

But actually this was a prototype lens that was glued together and I had to hold the lens on cause my Rs2 gimbal threw it off the mount. So yes, this was actually soft and very hard to focus cause I was literally holding it to the camera and pressing them together as hard as possible. I explain this in the description. I now have the production model and it was sharp than this protype. Wide open it is a bit soft, but at F4 it really sharpens up. I use it at 2.8 comfortably tho

A few days went by and I didnt get any sort of notification. So I emailed them just asking if it was shipping soon since I heard they were fast. They said I had ordered it when it was out of stock, so I had to wait for a new shipment to arrive. I replied saying I had waited until it was in stock to order, so that was weird. Said thats fine but just asked if they thought it might be here on X date that I was hoping to use it for a shoot on. No reply. Waited a few days, emailed again asking the same thing. No reply. Waited a few more days and just said to cancel it. They replied with, ok canceled, it was about to ship tomorrow so sorry you coudln't wait. Just annoying. Just let me know and were all good, ffs, lol.
I think I had it at 35 actually. I realized after that I didn’t pay attention to the sigmas focal length for that test. Wish I matched it closer to 18-28mm
@@cammackey Scary shit man. As a sidenote, would you be willing to make a video on exposing the Komodo / R3D footage properly in both adequate and low light scenarios? It's a bit confusing to me with ISO not affecting the signal like typical cameras do (or at least thats how I understand it). One last question lol, which monitor model do you use for your computer? I think you said a BenQ on one of your videos? My monitor is such a pain to get the contrast right even after calibration

cammackey Haha. Whatever. Just talking engineering here: the point is your test was affected by the fail but you can obviously remain excited. I've seen a couple of your vids and recall you mentioning that you're rough on gear (although this was gimbal gone haywire), and just based on that, I'd have probably ensured a more solid connection to the mount than glue. And, hell yes, put it to work. Have fun.

Does the actual non prototype lens mount solid to the rf mount ? Which lenses balance great for you using the rs2 with the Komodo ?

Is that a film grain lut or just noise in general in the sample film? I had to select 1080p just in case it was the render quality.
That is film grain. Grain is granular texture while noise is colored distortion of the image on the pixel level.
