    Hi Joey, what a great video!
    What I liked most is your personal friendly attitude with other individuals, regardless of their status or situation. And it comes back and makes its way into your footage.
    Second, I enjoyed the grading before-after shown in your clips.
    Third, great footage, indeed. And what an exciting location to shoot.
    Fourth, seing you fighting with the weight of the setup, the focus, and finding the right angle gives me some relief - I am not alone with these challenges.
    I received my Sirui 50mm T2.9 for my Lumix S1H just last week, and despite no time for really testing it outside my home I am more than impressed.
    If focus pulled correctly it is tack-sharp from corner to corner which can easily blurred out in post. And flares seem to be well controlled now.
    Since my Weebill S is too small for the dimensions of the combo I tried out a different way:
    I reduced the rig to camera, lens, cage, top handle, side hand strap, smal monitor.
    And since a few days I am practicing for about 10 mins every day for manually pulling focus and keeping the camera horozintally straight - and, I am getting better and better every day.

    Fantastic work! How’s this lens when shooting at 4K @ 60fps? I assume that’ll affect the overall look of the anamorphic due to the crop? Thanks!

    • @Joey_Helms
      @Joey_Helms  2 роки тому +1

      I have not shot in 4K 60 since that format does not have an anamorphic mode on the Komodo (6K only). Surely you can still shoot that way but there is no native interpretation of the footage on the device and the sensor read out would be 16:9 which will give you a much wider FOV after destretching. So net net the crop should be more than the usual 6K to 4K crop.

I've only tested one of the Vazen 1.8x lenses on the Komodo but I think I had the wrong aspect ratio 6k preset. There is a 3:2 and a 5:4 preset, right? Loved the video Joey! The triple camera setup is pretty badass and a great concept for vlogging while also capturing nice footage with the Komodo. I'm planning on renting this lens soon too. Would love to get more of your thoughts on it and how it was flying it on the gimbal. Maybe even a mini tutorial on how you pull focus using the Ronin follow focus while moving? This is something that has always been a struggle for me, whether on a gimbal or not, being able to manually pull focus while either yourself or your subject is moving or both at the same time. Tips on spatial awareness would be great too, like how you can be more certain that you maintain the same distance from your subject while moving so you don't have to make changes to your focus.

    • @Joey_Helms
      @Joey_Helms  2 роки тому +1

      It was flying surprisingly well on the RS2... even without counterweights. I may gonna do another video like this one and can share some thoughts on focus pulling. at the end it is trying trying trying and multitasking

    Interesting how the VND changes the blue filters to green. Kinda dig it. You dont see green filters very often at all.
    I also noticed that the diminished flares from having the light off to the right or left really flatter whatever subject you’re shooting. I think the flares are a little too gnarly but I wonder if that can be mitigated with a filter. Does that filter exist? Or is that just a matte box haha

    • @Joey_Helms
      @Joey_Helms  2 роки тому

      Matte box should help with side light, but what I will try next is how it looks with a black mist filter.

    Firstly, WOW, you are making that lens sing!
    I’m extremely curious about the softness of the Sirui shots, particularly because I own this combination; but find the Sirui way too detailed for my taste… it feels every bit as sharp as a modern photo lens. Even after cropping in to achieve a 16:9 image.
    I’ve tried a few techniques, to take the edge off… blur in Davinci Resolve, Dehancer Pro and had all but given up on the Sirui. Could you please explain what you are doing to dial back the critical sharpness of the Sirui lens?
    Once again great work!

    • @Joey_Helms
      @Joey_Helms  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks a lot! I am actually not cropping but shooting in the 6K anamorphic mode on the Komodo and honestly there are no tricks I am using to get the sharpness off. I wanna try a black pro mist filter on it though! Next time, I may try the 75mm

    95% of the time shooting yourself, what’s the point of this? What little was shown to do with an anamorphic seems the lens flares with strong sun light are blocky and ugly. Would have been interesting to see it in artificial lights situations, or facing the sun.
