Personally, I love modern so much because it’s accessible for a cheap price ($100 a booster box isn’t bad at all) and the arts are really cool and aren’t too expensive! If prices spiked on modern I probably wouldn’t collect as much
I only recently joined the hobby, but have already figured out that I strongly prefer the Japanese booster boxes. Cheaper and more ARs. Only one secret rare per box, which may be worth almost nothing, but as I love the AR/IR cards most anyway, I love getting consistently 3 of them for ~50-60 bucks rather than 2 or 3 for ~100 bucks. I get more of the cards I want in Japanese and then I can just buy the cards I am missing.
This was indeed my first box. No double gold star. Hoping my next one has it, and if not, I’m good, becuz I got the eevee and growlithe, so I can’t complain
I remember when people thought Fusion Strike was a bad set lol I don't think its a great set either it has some desirable top heavy cards and well its out of print soon

Maybe Crown Zenith spoiled me, but I feel like the pull rates in Scarlet & Violet sets have been rough. There are some really cool cards, but I’m going back to primarily buying singles for now. The last few times I’ve bought SV era packs I haven’t gotten anything I wanted
I like etbs so much more, Esp w sword and shield, opening a whole booster box for a $1.50 rainbow rare hurts the soul. Etbs got one guarantee as well, booster boxes should have 2 considering there’s 36 packs😭😭

I really don't get the dislike for the Ogerpon cards. I absolutely love them. But its a win for me, hopefully I can complete the set without spending a fortune haha.
