I think Topuria should stay away from the ground game or he’ll get controlled and GnP’d, I mean if Makhachev and Ortega couldn’t do it, I don’t see how Topuria can.
Outside of rd 5 Islam controlled Volk multiple times.... Ortega was throwing hail Mary subs after being hurt. I don't think it's a wise plan for Ilia unless he beats up Volk first but thats what he did to Bryce and Emmett, hurt them then grappled
To be fair Islam took his back but couldn't do anything, admittedly he was in a good position but even a bigger fighter couldnt easily wrestling him.
The ortega stuff though jeez....that was some of the grittier refusal to quit I've seen in a pro fight
I love Volk, I know he has flaws, but his attitude and fight IQ is brilliant and I'd love him to get a couple more big wins before calling it a day
@@bengough6955 to be fair Islam took the back and chose not to finish Volks in front of a home crowd. Volks' neck defense was atrocious. Hopefully Craig has helped him with that, because Ilia won't hold back in that situation.

Volk fights consistently have extreme anticipation around them wondering what level these prodigies are at. Then volk shows he is solid af

Topuria ended up starching Jai Herbert, but he was getting picked apart a bit before that. Volkanovski doesn't have that reach, but he has smart striking, better footwork (Herbert's movement was giving Topuria trouble) and more power. That said, Volk just got his chin checked three months ago, and topuria hits frigging hard. It's tough to call and with this line, I wouldn't put a cent on this.

You are a G Dan! One thing I’ve noticed is Ilia seems to get caught with check left hook quite often, and lead leg gets kicked out. Volk will capitalise on these two which I feel will make the difference in the fight. I expect a similar finish from Volk, in the same way he finished Yair
Yeah…Volk will chew up that lead leg early to take away the power and jab his face off. Fight won’t go beyond 3 rounds. Ilia has been rushed to this title fight.

Topuria over extends and loads up way too often. Volk can capitalize on that. But the age difference also plays a factor. It's a hard fight to predict.
look at Topuria's evolution from fight to fight. Casuals downgrade Topuria for not finishing Emmet while actually that fight was his best performance and showed his maturity for title fight

He has a chance to catch volk but volk is basically better everywhere, fought 100x better people and finished them, has the best fight iq in the game. Volk should be a bigger fav than the betting lines show

@@mrspiff6955Did you see what Josh Emmett did to Bryce Mitchell? Topuria made that guy look like an amateur, and he never got hit clean in a 5 round fight. Emmett also fought for a interim title right before that fight, so that win was more than enough to show that he belongs at the top.

@indiansmokar That's just mma math. I'm just looking at how he performed against a dangerous contender in the division, and giving him credit for earning a title shot. Yair also got hit clean multiple times in that fight, so he had a competitive fight with Emmett, but you can't say the same for the Topuria fight.

Has he? He has the better footwork and speed and likely the stronger guy but I think Ilia is by far the more dangerous grappler, better at subs, clearly has the power advantage and his wrestling transitions are far smoother.

Makachev struggled to rehydrate in Perth and that was extremely impactful on his performance. There are no positives to be drawn from Volks devastating loss in the second fight. Topuria is fighting an aging, vulnerable Volkanovski. But he still might lose.

Volko has more experience, an awesome camp and superb genetics. Ilia is hungry, supertalented and superconfident. Being confident is very important, less stress means better breathing, better decisions. The question remains: once Ilia feels the strength of Volko, will he suddenly see the truth? Just to let you know I am spanish: years ago, Ilia saw first row Volko vs Max and later on he said in an interview - in spanish: "I was surprised by how bad they were, how low the level was for a belt fight". I know it sounds stupid but the way he said that in spanish it was not a bluff, I swear he really believed what he saw was bad and he really sounded like he KNEW he could beat both of them easily. I dont know if he will win but I am 100% sure he believes he will get that chip, is not bluff. Let the better man win. 🎉

My prediction is that Volk will fight a little emotional and be off his game, these two will go to close, close decision with Tuporia slightly edging it out by dropping Volk multiple times, who lands a lot of volume which is mostly blocked and checked by El Matedor.
not tuporia's stutter steps with both legs. that gets him in and out of range quickly. if volk can show that down tuporia will be vulnerable
If Volk pulls it off, this will be one of the greatest humblings in MMA history.
