Never underestimate the Volvo's. When you get in a Volvo you will never want to leave the brand. That is what happened to me and two other generations of my family.
…Until they became an unreliable Chinese brand… Volvo fans became Volvo fans through the 240, 740, 940, 850 en 960. They kept loving Volvo with their 5-cylinders. But now? It’s gone 🤷♂️ (May I remind you that the Gen.2 XC90 is one of the most unreliable cars of its time?)
@@JDYTC The XC90 P2 platform comes with the same exact 5 cylinder engine as the S60s and the V70s. The 3.2 6 cylinder is a pretty reliable engine I have worked on many. The 5 cylinder is by far the most reliable from what I have worked on. I work on P2 Volvo's with 300,000km and with 100,000 km. All very reliable. Never once had they failed. The main reason why cars in general become unreliable is because of failure to do general and proper maintenance, unless there is a specific problem from the manufacturer.
@@arthurlekov2947 True. However the 240, 740 and 940 could compete with Toyota as the most reliable cars on the planet. Today Volvo can anything but. A car is more than an engine. The great Renault Safrane 2.5 with Volvo’s 5-cylinder was by far the most reliable Safrane, but still a typically French unreliable car. One of the main reasons being electronics.
The sound of this Volvo 5 cylinder engine always reminds me of the Audi RS6 V10 sound. The Volvo is just a mini V10, which is awesome. This S40 is impressive, although it was never made to be a hardcore sports car (like the RS6) but it is fast indeed. And the interior is beautiful, really tasteful.
This Brings back a lot of memories - up till about 8 years ago had an S40 T5 with: - Water methanol injection - Quaife LSD - Anembo Inlet - 3" Downpipe - Bell Intercooler - Anembo trumpet inlet manifold and CAIS - Fully Polybushed - all joints and gearbox - Bilstein B12 suspension - Focus ST 320mm Front brakes - Lightweight 17" OZ Superturismo wheels - Focus RS Clutch I got sick a few years ago and couldn't work so much so I had to sell it to pay for other things - this car looks to drive just like my old one did. The engine is amazing however, all the ford bits broke on it and it wasn't the most reliable car they do have their issues. I've got an NC MX5 now which is a better car really for Back roads, but I still miss that sound and that engine. I don't have any videos really of my old car or my times with it - so thankyou @AutotopNL for this video!
Usually I look at that Rpm and the speed and think calmly oh this is actually pretty quick (but of course I can´t feel anything) This time.... I looked at the Rpm t hought to myself, hm isn´t that...(Turbo kicks in, you hear tires squeaking) WTF... I could kinda feel it while sitting on couch.... must be intense in the car when turbo kicks in.... 🥰
Im not a fan of volvos but interior is very nice and car its self performs better than i expected, i wouldnt try to race this one in my e46 😂 nice preview and exhaust sound too totaly worth sleeper.
Wat een mooie auto. Misschien een stomme vraag maar dit is normaal toch een 6bak? Ik vind de versnellingen precies enorm lang. Is dit bij een Focus ST het zelfde? Waar is de ombouw gebeurd?
Not at all. Theoretically the share the same chassis. But in reality if you drive them both they are incredibly different cars. The Volvo handles much, much better than the focus. Also the 5 cylinder engines are made by Volvo. The 4 cylinder ones were made by Ford m. Look it up
As much as I respect K24s, I don’t get how this is lame lol. This is still pretty badass, at least in my opinion. This S40 pulled like a freight train and 350 HP isn’t bad with the setup this runs. We don’t know the torque rating this particular car has.
The dampers are gone you can see by how it bounces, i presume the brakes are also gone and many other things, these kind of old tuned cars are just danger on the road. Please stop tuning old stoves.
No one's mentioning this car's interior, which looks like it got a massive upgrade. Good taste, for sure.
More Volvo!!!
Love the look of that brown leather, well specced car
Yeah that's a beautiful color.
it's an aftermarket interior and not original
Fwd and not awd tho 😢
@@dr-ok3sn ah, I don't know these 'new" Volvos much. That quilted pattern did surprise me.

Nah, badge deletes look menacing as fuck. I would do that on any car.

Some people debadge a car for a cleaner look. It’s not always about concealing a car’s identity.

Would love to see a Volvo C30 T5 on the channel. Great cars. Very underrated tho.

Using ethanol for only 350hp seems wrong to me
NO DRAG TO REACH 420 KPH
Yeah, but it can't hurt. If anything it probably helps with reliability to keep any knock away.
Should help a lot with intake air temperature, that can really kill the performance of a turbo engine
Only??? ONLY?? 350?!
@mediumTierGod well, yeah. I guess with better turbos, you can make 420hp
