Very very well deserved award, Charlie. You bring so much enjoyment, help and knowledge into people's lives and while filming schedules can take their toll, your videos always appear like clockwork. So from me, a very personal 'thank you' for making my life that bit happier. Bravo!
Charlie, you are the best presenter on youtube for model railways, professional presentation, good editing and a bit of humour when some things don't go to plan, but that's railway modelling anyway, so keep up the good work!!!
Hi Charlie, I want to share a personal story that may provide encouragement to all who labor to create and construct model railroads. Twelve years ago we built our house and we created a large loft space that I later built my O gauge layout using MTH locomotives with DCS control. Like fellow modelers I spent countless hours crafting the track and scenery. Last week we put the house up for sale and my wife asked me what my plan was for the railway. I decided to leave it “in situ” with the thought that perhaps someone might enjoy it. Within 48 hours we had a showing and the buyer fell in love with the trains! We received a firm offer with one caveat the trains must come with the house. We agreed to the offer and I am delighted that all of my work in the loft paid off. Many of us labor countless hours to design, create and build our layouts, your Chadwick is a perfect example. However, few of us consider the end game should we need to move house. I have no regrets, I am happy that I have handed over the railroad to a new owner. Now I am starting to think about the next one… I wanted to share this with you because perhaps it validates our craft. Best DR
Congrats on your win, well done and well deserved. Another interesting video. Frog tape (the delicate one) is quite good for larger areas of masking. Still worth de-racking it on your arm before placing it to avoid it removing paint.
Many congratulations on the award Charlie. It is well deserved. I certainly voted for you. I have benefited immensely from your content and, indeed, have purchased quite a few bits and bobs I didn’t know existed prior to seeing them on your channel. So a big thank you from me. Keep up the good work. I know you will. Roy.
Well done Charlie I truly believed you win because you deserved it, i and my wife watch a lot of UA-cam on my favourite subject and there’s a lot of good ones out there but in my opinion (and my wife’s) yours is the best . Thank you 👍
Congrats on the award Charlie. I was hoping to see a working turntable in the maintenance yard but clearly it won't fit without a huge amount of rethinking. Still looks awesome.
Loved the idea of the scene and got me thinking as I designed a harbour scene which I painted and the shape of that section of your layout with those hills would be ideal with buildings on the hills and addition of a harbour or docks would be a nice addition to the train yard.
@@ChadwickModelRailway you have a unique opportunity as you have a 3 sided section which is rare and would amazing. It would make chadwick extra special.
Congratulation on your well deserved award Charlie! As far as the 4 road loco shed is concerned, it must stay! The very worst scenario would be to do what they did to the old steam shed at my old stamping ground of Exeter St David’s which was to remove the roof and use it for stabling diesels.
I cannot think of a creator more deserving than you, Charlie. Your knowledge, passion, presentation, and humilty through it all are truly unparalleled. You were the first person I thought of when I heard about the "Best UA-camr" category, and I am so glad that I was not alone! Congratulations, you've earned it.
Well done on your prize and we’ll deserved recognition Charlie. When I worked at Laira Diesel Depot in the 1980s there was a garden shed just inside the traction maintenance shed. As the roller doors were open most of the time it was used by us staff awaiting motive power requiring ‘daily checks’ whilst being refuelled. Known as the ‘daily shed’ it was some shelter from baltic winds in winter as the roller doors were rarely shut (or working!). The HST shed had a dedicated room for such staff. I can recall checking locos outside in the snow, the engine rooms being very hot so it was quite a range of temperatures.
Love that you stay humble. Not a surprise as that seems your style anyway. Congradulations. Keep being you. I love your style, not only are you informative, charming and funny, you are also calming to listen too. You sound like a dear friend of minethat has passed on. You share his cadence and tone and gentleness in voice.
Congratulations on the award Charlie. Well deserved. I hope you keep the "old" steam shed, because many did survive into the 70's. You could use it as a wagon repair depot maybe for the tankers.. It will look ok next to the diesel shed. All the best.
Very well done on your award. It's richly deserved. As to the shed area, I always thank that a mix of support buildings, some semi derilict, looks good in a TMD, not to mention lots if detritus lying about!
I like the idea of using the old four track shed as a car repair facility. Since I like shunting I see the car repair facility as a good way to add fun operating action while your automated main lines do their thing. The old two track shed could be for maintenance of way equipment like a tamper, a leaf removal train, and so on. For me, modelling some of that specialized engineering equipment would be a nice alternative to getting more revenue equipment. Lots of ways to go, Charlie!
I really enjoyed how you explained your thoughts on the design of the TMD. To hear how you wanted to develop the area is interesting to me. Good kit too.
well deserved Charlie some of the others are good but yours is great you are someone who does not make himself obsessed with what goes wrong and gets mad if something goes wrong you have a laugh and fix it with a smile now only watch yours and a couple of others great work my friend keep up the great work graham in Thailand
Many congratulations on the Hornby Awards win Charlie. You are the best model railway UA-camr as you cover so many varied topics. On the TMD front it all looks good. My only observation would be where you have the kickback point between the old and new loco sheds - how about copying St Blazey Depot in Cornwall and use the old turntable for access! It was certainly in use up to the end of the hydraulic era in 1977.
Charlie, Regarding the award, it is all about you. No one else keeps us so entertained and amused while providing such a valuable service. Love the layout and the TMD looks smashing. A road tunnel? I've been trying to think of an example but I'm struggling. Surely the road would go over the obstacle rather than spend a fortune digging a tunnel. Just a thought. Bob PS Congratulations. Well deserved. Did you give a speech?
Fortunately, there was no speech to give Bob, although I must confess I did have a few thoughts tucked away. Regarding the tunnel I’m coming around to your side of this. Regards, Charlie
Congratulations on your well deserved award. 🎉 Since I stopped railway modelling about 35 years ago, I don't have much advice on this new section. My only concern would be that it looks a bit crowded. 3 sheds, extra buildings, car park, road, etc. Of course, it always looks a bit different on video, specially on a rather small screen. Also, is rather unlikely that a tunnel was dug just for the staff at this area. I guess it world be best if the road appears to go from one city to the next. Otherwise a tunnel seems a bit over the top to be used by
Brilliant, I'm so pleased the award was presented to you Charlie. You deserve the ward, as you have given so much to the model railway environment. You're videos are so help to all in model railways. Thanks for all the videos over the years.😃😃😃
Congratulations Charlie on your Award . I have been watching your great videos for years I do not always comment but i really do like them and always give a thumbs up. I love the new TMD Depot . Nice build and as always informative . Best wishes regards Greg
You KNOW you're good when you win a Hornby award! I love some TMD action! Chadwick gets better and better...railway modelling needs modellers like you Charlie continuation of the hobby relies on those who document and share their projects. My thanks and respect!
Many congratulations on this award, Charlie! Certainly well deserved recognition for the love, sweat and tears you've poured into Chadwick and your impressive subscriber base over recent years. Looking forward to seeing how your TMD and scenic planning challenge pans out in the coming weeks.
Congratulations on the win, well deserved too. I've always likes the detail and pace of your videos, they are easy to follow. Up to you, but I think the 4-lane shed would look good in derelict form like some of the post-industrial decline buildings they would run around in The Sweeney and The Professionals.
Ah ha! I’m not the only one who flips a point upside down when the correct hand is not… er… to hand, for rough planning.😉 Congratulations on the award Charlie, well deserved. 😊
As you say Charlie, there are many other quality videos on UA-cam who would equally deserve an award. However, it's your method of presentation that takes you away from the rest. Your videos are interesting, informative and make any task look less complicated. The TMD kit certainly looks the part and fits in well with the rest of the building destined for the loco shed area. The steam shed doesn't look out of place at all and I'm glad you have not replaced it because it does fit the era of Chadwick. I'm looking forward to the progress you are making, particularly to the installation of surface mounted point motors. Congratulations on the award Charlie, you certainly deserve it.
Charlie my goodness how very well deserved. You videos have helped me tremendously when starting to build my layout 12 months ago. Without your many varied (and funny- that will be the phone then & ‘backsceen’) I would not have had a clue and the wife’s boudoir would still be complete. Once again brilliant well done.
Hi Charlie, those plastic parts are actually resin, be careful when filing or sanding them, the dust is very toxic. I'm surprised they didn't mention it in the instructions.
Thank you again. You have opened my eyes to so many possibilities, and new ways of approaching model railway construction. Entertaining, informative, practical, genius modelling tutorials. Love following Chadwick's evolution.
Oh nice kit that I've been contemplating how to model the raised rails in a tmd shed I think your the best man for the award when it comes to UA-cam content and tutorials modeling railways, i love your enthusiasm and delivery for our hobby Your personal presentation is endearing. Congratulations Charlie. Of course we voted for you. You manage to produce the most entertaining and informative set of videos and I definitely look forward to watching them every fortnight. Thanks.
Charlie, give you joy on your award. I’ve been following your channel for a number of years now and I couldn’t think of anyone who befitted the win more than yourself. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations Charlie. I find your videos both incredibly informative but yet so personable . Even though I live in Australia, it’s like your a virtual model railway modeller and a valued freind. I hope you continue to be recognised for your wonderful contribution to the wonderful world of model railways. Gary
I’m thrilled for you in the Hornby awards, thoroughly deserved! As well as the hours of pleasure sharing in your experience, the tips and tricks I pick up from you is making my second layout a big step up in functionality and reliability. Congratulations!
Congratulations Charlie on your award. It just shows how much we all appreciate what you do and the amount of effort you put into your videos. Well done!
Congrats on your well deserved award. Your eye for detail and precision track all of us , slow down, do it right, and enjoy our efforts. I've been watching since just before you started the new layout. Haven't missed one. Thanks for the humor and the effort you put in , research and all.
Well done, on the award, for the time you have given to others. Reciprocity is the key. I do realise that your ideas have also been feed by others, as you have said. Thank you
Hello Charlie - I’m absolutely delighted that you won the award, it’s well-deserved as you’re always informative and entertaining. If there’s such a thing as a “natural” You-Tuber you’re it…..at least for us in the Model Railway audience, and iI am sure it would apply for “normal people” too 😉. I haven’t watched all of this week’s video yet, but wanted to get my congratulations in as early as possible!
Hi Charlie.............. Congrats on the award, well deserved for your dedication to the model railway hobby and excellent presentations etc. Cheers Don W. NZ.
Thoroughly deserved award Charlie and lovely, but typical of you to be so humble. Your videos and banter have kept me sane the past years in Oman and now in Saudi...where my building modelling progresses ahead of the day I will return to blighty, (in not to many months now), and craft my own layout (bit nervous of the electronic mind you! :) ) Well done to you Sir!
Even though I do not model European railroads , I always like watching your videos, you take the time to explain what and how, and your modeling is top notch, Congratulations on your award, keep the videos coming, ever think of turning the clock back for steam?
Always love seeing these videos, and I think the award is well earned! I can't pretend to know all your plans for the future of your layout's detailing, but if there was one thing I'd like to see added it would be some more buildings like stations or sheds which are relics of decades past. The modern image stuff looks great, but when I think of late 60s BR, I also think of older infrastructure from the golden age of steam which has yet to be replaced by modern equivalents. I'd love to see more like that incorporated in future, but no matter what you decide I'm sure I'll love watching every minute! Thank you for the hours of entertainment!
No one deserves to be number one more than you this year in my eyes. I do watch a lot of different railway modellers on UA-cam, but you definitely deserve it this year :) Congratulations! I use a fair bit of suprglue, but always end up with a half tube that I use to end up wasting. I learnt a little trick of keeping the super glue in the fridge. It seems to last for months without going off when it is kept cold. Just got to clean the nozzle so the lid doesn't stick.
Award well deserved. For myself, I enjoy the friendly 'folksy' style which is a pleasing blend of entertainment and useful, instructional information and techniques. Having 'stayed the course' this now is my much anticipated fortnightly modelling 'fix', which is now approaching the best bits. Can't wait for the full reveal. In relation to the planned hillside, and with Council approval, perhaps a raised housing/village scene would work rather than a hillside rising up abruptly. I saw this type of filler recently on a neighboring channel (Everard Jctn) and it seemed to work well. Anyhow all the best, many thanks for the hard work and effort, looking forward to the future. Kind Regards, Paul.
Very very well deserved award, Charlie. You bring so much enjoyment, help and knowledge into people's lives and while filming schedules can take their toll, your videos always appear like clockwork. So from me, a very personal 'thank you' for making my life that bit happier. Bravo!

I find your videos both incredibly informative but yet so personable . Even though I live in Australia, it’s like your a virtual model railway modeller and a valued freind.
I hope you continue to be recognised for your wonderful contribution to the wonderful world of model railways. Gary
That’s very kind of you to say so Gary

Hi Charlie. Miss your green bezel ROLEX. Really classy piece. We have much in common. Also a 40 year Navy guy. Love your videos. John.

Congrats on your well deserved award. Your eye for detail and precision track all of us , slow down, do it right, and enjoy our efforts. I've been watching since just before you started the new layout. Haven't missed one. Thanks for the humor and the effort you put in , research and all.
What a heartwarming comment, Bob. Regards, Charlie.
Well done, on the award, for the time you have given to others. Reciprocity is the key. I do realise that your ideas have also been feed by others, as you have said. Thank you
Thank very much Patrick Speaight. Regards Charlie

Hi James, that’s exceptionally kind of you to say so mate. Stay safe, regards, Charlie

Congratulations Charlie and you deserve it. It’s nice to hear your thought process on the TMD. Take care
Thanks Neal, I’m so pleased you find the channel enjoyable. Regards Charlie
I’m so pleased that you enjoy the channel Michael, perhaps we can meet up at a show one day on your return. Regards, Charlie
@@ChadwickModelRailway Let's hope so!
Congratulations Charlie on your well deserved award. Your camera presence and delivery style make a
each episode a joy to watch.
That’s very kind of you to say so, Paul . Regards, Charlie.
Even though I do not model European railroads , I always like watching your videos, you take the time to explain what and how, and your modeling is top notch, Congratulations on your award, keep the videos coming, ever think of turning the clock back for steam?
I have thought about turning the clock back, but it’s the expense of expanding my local fleet. Regards, Charlie
Thanks EP, and you make some interesting suggestions. Regards, Charlie
Very well deserved award Charlie. Your videos are one of the highlight of my week....erm I mean fortnight.
Thanks TD, that’s very kind of you to say so. Regards Charlie
Charlie, well done, well deserved. As I said when I met you earlier in the year your videos hit the mark both for content and production.
Thanks Charles, I’m so pleased that you find the video interesting and I’ve joined me on my railway journey. Regards, Charlie
Thanks Charles, I’m so pleased that you find the video interesting and I’ve joined me on my railway journey. Regards, Charlie
Thank you for some worthy advice. Regards, Charlie
Yes, I take your point Paul , at the very least there will be a farm on the hill. Regards, Charlie
