The monster house that took up the entire floor, where the whole floor was a single room, is indeed a thing that happens in the base game. It happens every 25 floors in Silver Trench.
They used to annoy the hell out of me as a kid, now I want them to happen to make grinding easier lol.
Not every 25; iirc the first was of 15f, then every 20 floors, so on 35f, 55f...
Expect 95 for some reason. That floor's normal.
@John Seet Earthquake time
I may be wrong, but I believe it also happens as a failsafe if the dungeon generation algorithm creates too many invalid floors!
Everybody gangsta till the unregistered dialog script starts changin
Lmao
Lol
Really, the only mystery in this game is why it took so long for a remake of it to be made
*WHY DO I KEEP SEEING YOU EVERY WHERE!*
they wanted to put love in it
@@randomuser3101 oh look, a single guy on the Internet across of all the billion of people on earth likes and comments on the same videos that i see, how surprising
FIRST UNDERTALE NOW POKEMON. HOW ARE YOU EVERYWHERE
I wouldn't call the Mystery Dungeon series unknown the first 2 games sold well and it's had a sizable audience ever sense I mean it's no Mario Kart in terms of popularity but compared to other Pokémon spinoffs like Pokémon Conquest it's definitely not unknown
Parents: Are you going to interact with anyone today?
Me: *Unregistered dialog script*
Well didn't this age like fine wine?
The finest wine in the world.
i personally theorize ????????????? (or "Q") is the force that approaches while lingering too long on a floor
The Unseen Force is probably the creator of these Mystery Dungeon Mazes, 1 of at least 3 mysterious entities in the Mystery Dungeon Series 1st Game Pair. The other 2 are Voice of Luminous Cave & Judge of Darkness encountered in Murky Cave. This Q entity is likely the Unseen Force.
Statue being water type is quite fitting as in gen 1 you could surf and fish on them due to a glitch!
The one room monster houses are definitely not unused, at least I remember getting a bunch
Cool!
As an avid fan of Mystery Dungeon games I can verify this. Monster Houses are a staple in the genre.
One for sure appears in the Lugia dungeon. I could never forget that considering the childhood trauma lol
@@formula091 Better hope you picked Charmander so you could get dat sweet Heat Wave and, well, sweep floor

Man I really hope the explorers games get a remake as well
That would be great
That would be awesome! Explorers was my first pokemon game and I hope they do a remake
That would be great, but I also want a completly new PMD I want PMD5
@@KeinNiemand I would prefer a new game. Rescue Team DX, the remake, doesn't really add very much to the original game other than a few new Pokemon, Mega Evolution, and new items. The remake actually removed things, which were fun parts of the original games, like Friend Areas, gummis, and the regular attack option. The remake also seems to have an easier difficulty, which is disappointing in my opinion. Also certain Pokemon animations look odd in the remake like Eevee's walking and running. I don't think a remake will add much to the original game, it might remove features that made the original game fun like Rescue Team DX did. I would be fine with an Explorers of Sky Remake if it added more content, looked more polished, and didn't remove features.
If they do, I hope they
-Give each Legendary some kind of story to extend gameplay, and bring Arceus for real.
-Grow Treasure town, maybe add new Guild recruits after you graduate.
-Add more locations to visit in a similar vein to Shaymin village and the Hotsprings.
-Develop Team Raider (all teams would be sweet but having them durdle by the beach always annoyed me, especially given their legend).
-Introduce end of level bosses.
Basically I want more of everything, because I have problems.
The last time I was this early, Spike Chunsoft was still just Chunsoft.
I’m more used to Spike
Ah, the good ol days.
9:24 Me, one of the five fans of unused text strings: hell yeah
I am one of the 5 unused text strings fans too
So am I!
I am also a fan
Same!
Guess the club's full then
6:43 You can do that in the original game without using any item.
"Wait and see" sounds like pressing A+B to skip a turn.
I remember that some people said that super mystery dungeon would be the last game in the series so I always think if Spike Chunsoft might came back. After waiting for another game the remake was annouced I was surprise this is real I hope we get a new pokemon mystery dungeon game
I also was suprised
it was mostly rumors cause the creators put everything into Super and didnt have anything new ideas (right after super came out) for a new one. While never stated to be the last a lot of people lost hope when there was no mystery dungeon game for gen 7. GF has prioritized mainline pokemon games since 2016 so there hasnt been much room for spin off pokemon games until this year which is the first one there probably won't be one cause there focusing on DLC for Sw/sh
Technically it’s a remake not a new game, but it’s a stretch
I know it's a remake I ment if they can make a new original pokemon Mystery dungeon. Also I like explorers of Sky story also the other versons
Hell I'd play a new one on the Switch, I only ever played Blue (didn't beat it) and the remake (I'm on Silent Chasm right now to keep that vague as possible)
13:48 I recall seeing massive rooms like that in... Lugia's dungeon... which based on Bulbapedia appears to be Silver Trench
They're on floors 15, 35, 55, and 75.
The "Q" pokemon is Missingno.
You can't change my mind.
Eric nub it’s Decamark.
Missingno isn't actually programmed into the og games though, it's a glitch caused by the game trying to reference a Pokemon that doesn't exist. Each Pokemon was assigned a reference number from 0 to 255 (8 bit register*) but there's only 151 Pokemon so any reference outside of those causes the games to use data that's meant for something else (like interpreting the data for a move as the data for a graphic). The stuff talked about here actually appears in the code though it could be a combination of unused and used code so maybe, sort of like Missingno.
*Generally speaking data can be stored as bytes (8 bits) or sometimes nibbles (4 bits). More complex data may be stored in multiple bytes but it's always going to a multiple of 8 (0-255 if representing a positive whole integer) or sometimes 4 (0-15 if representing a positive whole integer). Older hardware (especially portable stuff) was more limited and strict so an 8 bit register was the smallest value they could use. There's a few good videos (I think it was MVG that did a few recently) out there that go more in depth but the Gameboy was pretty genius, it mostly used older off the shelf hardware to keep the cost down but it included some interesting graphics features that a programmer could use for advanced effects like the waves in Links Awakening.
Gregory Norris
We are aware. It is a joke.
@@rainpooper7088 I know it's a joke but I still felt like sharing.
Q is a glitch pokemon, but isn't a Missingno. In fact, a lot of glitch pokemon in various games aren't actually Missingno. The closest relative to Missingno. would be 3TrainerPoké or M' depending on your version. Decamarks too, are their own thing entirely.
And this is coming from someone who does nothing but waste hours of their time debugging old pokemon games.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is such a great series that's so underappreciated.
It’s not so much under-appreciated as much as it is just a lesser known game series
Unused text string fans rise up
the mime jr and weevil figure items can be earned by completing the special missions, but are automatically used and placed on your base
Yes
The nostalgia is real!
Mystery dungeon blue was my first Pokémon game!
Omg same
Same here, and it was the only PMD game I played
First game I ever got and favourite game of all time 💙
the unused item sprites look like time gears
I literally went into a nostalgia coma for like 30 seconds at 1:30 when the mystery dungeon music started playing. The ridiculous number of hours I spent listening to that track is chilling.
The Charizard breaking walls instead of just walking behind you triggers me so much lol
Great video though.
God watching the pauses that make it look slow pains me
Super Mobile on partners is absolute hell.
I can't be perfectly sure, but the "Wait and See" move is almost certainly the existing effect of holding B and pressing A in a dungeon. It passes your turn without doing anything, allowing you to do things like letting an enemy come to you for better spacing (the game teaches you to do a basic attack for this, but I prefer doing this so you don't bother with the attack animation) or if held down it can be good for letting hp regen do its thing
Who else have a sudden urge to play this game?
( I don't have the original, but I have Explorers of Darkness on DS)
Literally just went on ebay and bough a used Red Rescue Team game
Try the remake out! It's coming this week!
I actually think the "Wait and see" move IS used- in fact, I think it's used all the time in-game. ...It's how the game lets you "wait" and let the enemy Pokemon move around while you stay in place. Remember, enemy Pokemon cannot move until the player either moves a space in any direction or uses a move. Therefore, in order to let the player "wait", it's likely that when you press the buttons required to do so, the game actually executes the "Wait and see" move- which is likely coded to not display a text box or an animation when executed, since it's purpose would simply be to tell the game "Hey, the player did something, move the enemy Pokemon around now".
I remember playing red rescue team when I was younger and really enjoying it I didn't know you could evolve your Pokemon in the game until 2018. I actually beat the story as my teams first forms. I need to get back into this series.
You can't evolve your pokemon until after the main story if that makes you feel better
Oh I didn't know that. I'll have to play this again and try it.
imagine meeting a clone of yourself on the street and when you try to talk to it it just says "unregistered dialog event"
Im pretty sure the unused specs were used so when an enemy uses a move that steals/eats your item from the bag, it prevents that from happening
Yeah I think the description was just written badly
Bug Bite and Pluck didn't exist yet while Thief and Covet couldn't take other items from your bag in games before Gates. This can't be the reason.
Gengarzilla damn, really?
If it's such a mystery then why do we know about it let alone also knowing the lost bits?
No
Yo
Data mining? Or were you making a joke
I think it was a joke
2:26
Waaaaaait... Those are GEARS! Did they originally want to use the idea of Time Gears from Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky in Red and Blue Rescue Team???
0:53
*_B E A N S_*
6:40 you've always been able to switch leaders mid-dungeon in the post game.
honestly i just wish that i knew about this game’s existance before the pokemon direct of january bc i probably wouldve loved the game as a kid
Guys, I think I know what the „Wait and See“ move might be! When Ditto transforms into another Pokémon in the Explorers games, it can‘t use any of their attacks and will just waste turns by „watching attentively“ or something like that. I don’t remember if Rescue Team handled this any differently, but that might be what the title is referring to.
That wasn't in Rescue Team. Here, they'll have no problems using Struggle.
The "Wait and see" move might be what eventually became skipping a turn with A+B
“Wait and See” seems like a move to just idle.
So it would be that A+B turn skip?
At 13:50 where you encounter a one-room floor can happen on the 99 floor maps like the underwater one that has Lugia at the bottom
7:33 Pokemon News Issue #51: Local Bulbasaur gets concussion, thinks statue is a person!
Yes! I have been waiting a while for this episode! Great job covering the unused content. Can't wait to play the remake and relive some old memories!
Thanks for watching!
I theorize that the move "Wait and See" might be for when your character "skips" their turn by waiting in place and makes all enemies move faster, since movement is based on whether you use a move or item.
That looking for beans meme was great.
Thanks 😎
im pretty sure you can make leader in dungeons, I swear I used it to swap to my partner to preserve belly. I know you can only do it after you can change leader, but maybe you need a certain iq? I swear I've done that before
Ten
It’s definitely not possible in PMD2 and definitely possible in Super. I haven’t encountered it in Rescue Team though, aside from the unused items.
Ten You can. Its only allowed in some dungeons though, i think it was only postgame dungeons and not main story dungeons. I used to do that as a kid to get the water boxed items before i realized how op IQ is
You should cover the Explorers games too as they have quite a bit of unused content. Time and Darkness even have a completely mostly functional (tho unused) version of Pokémon Square in them! Time and Darkness also have a massive debug menu too that works mostly better than the Red and Blue Rescue Team one. Sky also has a lot of unused stuff worth checking out as well. Definitely make a video of those games!
I'd like to cover em eventually!
It makes sense that Pokémon Square somehow found its way in, as Explorers uses the same engine as Rescue Team. I know for a fact that lots of Rescue Team's exclusive portrait emotes and sprite animations exist in Sky and go unused (Machop, Psyduck, and Gengar's expressions, Skarmory's landing animation, and more).
Q might actually be connected to the "something is stirring" that happens when you linger on a floor.
Are there any unused bits for explorers games btw?
Also I have also encountered the large one room floor. It's only used in specific end game dungeons
If you can survive starving to death long enough in Silver Trench you'll encounter 4 1 Room Floors that are giant monster houses. As for Q, I agree it might be the "Unseen Force" that kills you if you stay in Dungeon Floors for too long. The Mystery Dungeon 1st game pair had 3 Unseen Entities looking back the voice of Luminous Cave & Judge of Darkness (end of Murky Cave), in addition to the Unseen Force that blasts you out of dungeons.
I don't know if you know this but Dojo registration actually has a wondermail code in blue rescue team but once you receive the job you cannot open it. There was a rumor that you could recruit Lucario there that's why I tried it.
The Provisional Map room looks like the houses from The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap.
13:48 I've had this happen in regular dungeons, usually water dungeons if memory serves. It seems like it's a rare floor generation option.
I have always been a massive fan of the pokémon franchise but one thing that my family never expected out of me was just how much I would love and enjoy and prioritize what is essentially side games in the series over the actual main series.
16:45 This is by far the happiest looking debug test room I've ever seen... It's like all these poke-friends are gathered outside the shrek-looking house for a party on a lovely spring day...
(where as usually it's just models trapped in a floating abysal void of misery and suffering...)
"Wait and see" sounds like a badly translated "bide"
I don’t know how but you always seem to make these lost bits scary or chilling.
This game has such charm to it. I'd be looking forward to the remake if it didn't cost 50% more than it should. Probably will borrow that nostalgia trip from a bud of mine.
Please, a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Sky/Darkness/Time unused content video
I know for a fact that all of the portraits and sprite poses from Rescue Team were carried over to Explorers, even the ones that weren't used like Psyduck and Machop. These games were built on the same engine so we'll find a lot of these things.
funny, the one-huge-room dungeon floor ( 13:48 ) actually happened once to my gf when she was playing explorers of sky. it was on the desmume emulator with a few action replay codes on so we just kind of assumed it was some floor map loading error caused by the fact we were using cheats and/or emulating the game. The dungeon was a main story dungeon and it also wasn't a monster house (it was too early on in the game for a monster house encounter I think)
I've played the PMD games with AR codes on both a DS and an emulator and never had it happen to myself, so it must be fairly rare in both games and not limited to unused dungeons
Manchlax was kind of used, a n the post game theres a very but very slight chancw that you'll encounter a munchlax running through the pokemon square and will ask you for something ro eat, after that he will just keep on running out of your sight and disappear
It was one of the teasers for gen 4
Yup, but I'm saying there's data for him being playable
@@TetraBitGaming True, I realized it a minute after ai posted it but decided to leave it here so people can know why he'd in the game
It took me a year to realize how many mistyped I did here
I'm looking forward to the HD remake. The graphics aren't great, but the hand drawn story book art style looks amazing and works surprisingly well with the cell shaded 3d. It's also a smart move that it's a self contained game, instead of being split into two separate releases like the old entries. Though I can't say I care about the personal questions that recommend a Pokemon for me. Even if it's a Pokemon I'm comfortable playing as, I'll still end up choosing one from the selection anyway.
Pelipper used Crash.
It was super effective!
What if they made the Substitute Doll a playable character in the remake
I remember my game glitching out at one point where Dugtrio goes off to explore the world. But he never left when he was supposed to, and when spoken to him it shows the Unregistered Text String thing.
im so thanfull you created and still do the Lost bits series, i completly and utterly celebrate it, this is exactly the type of gaming content i enjoy the most. it gives such a special and unique look into the development of these games, one thats even more interesting then like a docu where the developers talk quickly about the development, because here you see the stuff you normally never see. and its so interesting to see whats scrapped, the early concepts and why things may have been scrapped and all that.
thank you!
Thank you for watching!
I think Q is a placeholder as well, given that in the gen 3 games they have a place holder pokemon who's name is just a bunch of question marks, so that might just be the format they use here...
(Similar for Missing No being Missing Number)
The two unused soundtracks were composed by Atsuhiro Ishizuna by comparaisons of his songs in some games. It is the same composer that later participated in _Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night_ which was 15 years after Rescue Team and 5 years after his last contribution in the BEMANI franchise (REFLEC BEAT colette).
Take it as a guess.
Yeah the alert specs is kind of funny when you think about it- it's basically an item that has no benefits of being equipped, and it's only feature is that it can't be stolen 😅
My personality is getting the results I want
20:03
Blastoise: This is fine.
When you refused to recruit that poor Nincada I got a little sad.
The big boss monster house room is not a debug feature, you will experience this if you explore silver trench, a 99 floor dungeon where a legendary resides, on the original and assumably the remake too
The statue being water type works cause the original Pokemon statues in red and blue could be fished in and you fight water types when fishing
I guess I’m one of five huh. I just find them interesting why you gotta call me out like that tetra.
I’m playing, thanks for making vids and keep going they are amazing
Haha thanks for watching!
You didn’t say what Wigglytuff or Gulpin do!
They're under the "do what what they normally do in the Pokemon Square" label
That "Wait and see" thing is probably a move that would have let you see the stats of enemy pokemon. "Yousu-o-miru" is the "status" option in the Japanese pokemon games. It translates to "check status", or "see how they're doing". No idea how the translator got "wait and see" from that.
"Q" sounds like something out of a creepypasta. I guess every game has unused content like that, and "Q" is a great example.
Possess Orb sounds like it lets you change leader when your current leader faint. Not as morbid as it sounds lol.
14:10 made me laugh

Proud to be one of the five people that's interested in unused dialog strings
I always thought the Alert Specs were meant to have a party-wide effect if just one Pokemon held it.
Makes me wonder if this heralds a new era of spin-off remakes. Will we see Pokémon Ranger DX next year?
What about Pokemon Colosseum or XD:Gale of Darkness getting a remake? Imagine if we got Pokemon from gens beyond 3 in these remakes? Also Shadows of Almia & Guardian Signs remakes please!
Also: "Unregistered Dialogue Script". 😂😂😂👌👌👌
The graphics of the test room kinda remind me of Mother 3’s style
Perhaps the Kangaskhan and Decoy having types and classifications is just crash avoidance for if they somehow end up in the party?
I think the unused zukkoke jingle was probably meant for the Spina scenes but was kind of too upbeat considering everyone is concerned about it's health
For the cutscene glitch you mentioned, it could be possible that its due to the character you've used. This game seem to have issue with missing sprite animations, unlike Explorers series and its sequels, Rescue Team does not have a failsafe for missing sprite animation, instead of using their walking sprites as a placeholder, it instead out most of the sprites and slows down the game by a ton.
Unused Text Strings Are Epic!!!!
"Unregistered dialogue script"
How weird! When you make a Pokemon that can only be a leader as your partner during story, the game uses "partner_conversion_052_4" instead of that. I wonder why
I wonder if wait and see was supposed to be a move like future sight or Doom desire, a delayed attack that you need to wait and see how much damage it does
I don't think so, since those two moves didn't have that delayed effect until Super. I'm thinking it's like Bide and Revenge.
*That moment when you realize that you didn’t know what u were missing cuz u started with Gates to Infinity*
rip thats the worst one
Goddamn get this person Explorers of Sky
OMFG after all these years i finally know wtf the Autopilot Dungeon is! it was such a mystery in my friend group and we never could find out.
Regarding the unused Pokemon: From a programmer's perspective, it's sometimes easier to use existing structures in the code (i.e. "Pokemon") than to code new logic in. All of these examples have a few features in common with normal Pokemon, for example the statue can be talked to, the decoy exists in dungeons and so on. So they were just lazy and made these things into pokemon as well, so they don't have to rewrite a bunch of interaction logic. Because they are now "Pokemon", they have to have all these props, even if they are just placeholder values that are never used ingame.
I assume.
It's possible the Boss dungeons could be Makuhita Dojo levels? That would explain why all of them have three floors and why there's a large open space in Boss 9's third floor.
At least I can recruit primal dialga
I've seen the large Monster House room with no maze elements. I can't remember if it's scripted for specific dungeon floors or super rare, but I do remember encountering a few.
They're in Silver Trench's 15th, 35th, 55th, and 75th floors. Those are the ones I definitely remember.
I like how the substitute doll is making little hops! :-)
I know I've said this before but I'd Love to see TetraBit do a LostBits episode on A Hat in Time's DLCs (Seal The Deal and Nyakuza Metro) this video is also really cool too
I swear, Tetra is gonna be a master in speaking japanese through these videos
My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time and my first recuited Pokemon was a Lotad and until that day he was my favorite pokemon! Ahhhh the memories! :D
Very intriguing lost bits!!~ X3 Event Zukkoke sounds like it could've been in Sonic Advance!!~😄😄😄⚡⚡⚡
The single massive room layout made its appearance as rare generations in later games, not sure if it appears in red/blue rescue team.
It does. Silver Trench has four of them, floors 15, 35, 55, and 75.
