Hi there, those are wonderful results for a first pit firing. I guess you know Andy Wards UA-cam channel Ancient Pottery and another channel called Airstream Wanderings.

That sounds like a fun concept! I may be able to have time for more commissions soon. If you would like to talk about the possibility of starting one please email me!

Where does commercially available clay come from? (Not the factory, the geographic location)?

It depends on the region you’re in and also what kind of clay you’re getting. Clay comes from all over the world and different kinds are found in different places! It’s so cool.
So for example: stoneware clay in the United States in mainly found in Kentucky, Ohio and the Carolinas. Earthenware clay is found in Texas and Missouri. Porcelain clay is found in China, Brazil, Germany, and in the states, Georgia and the Carolinas.
      Great question

@@Marlaina_thepotterylady Perhaps I'm not asking the right person, but you may know: where does all the clay used in Seagrove, NC come from?

You got a great channel! Just wanted to point out Andy's channel on pit fires and wild clay. He got loads of tips.
