I just bought a 2020 fatboy, and was having inconsistent oil readings on the dip stick. I finally started doing some research and found this video in which you mention the oil pump being on the right hand side and running the engine while on the jiffy will cause oil to be kicked into the crankcase. My question is how do I get that oil back? I know I'm not short oil but the dipstik says I am, so how do I get that oil back? I've tried and can seem to get it back, what I did was run my bike into normal operating temperature remove the crankcase sensor let out all the oil and the refill to correct level! There's something absolutely wrong with having to do this tho! I'm taking the bike into the shop! Any recommendations as to what to mention to the techs?
I paid the 301$ for the kit delivered from Dennis Kirk. Came with a scratched cap and has a chip where the connector screws in for the hose. Not sure how that can pass the QC ... Trying to get a replacement cap from either Feuling or DK right now. Frustrating that I have to deal with this and cannot install the part as I cannot break the shipping bags . And I'm wondering if the valve opens up too easily once they get two pads saturated with oil?

Hard to believe such an expensive bike has such a problem with oiling and crankcase pressure that requires such elaborate and costly aftermarket solutions. How long has Harley been making bikes? This seems like a simple engineering problem that should not be an issue coming from the factory.
Well it's an imaginary problem. Believe it or not the motorcycle has breathers that vent excess pressure already on the motorcycle. The 'issue' is that the EPA does not let Harley, or any other manufacturer, vent to atmosphere. That means the breathers vent into the intake. This ensures that all gasses are going to end up going through exhaust. What people dislike is the fact that when these breathers are working there is the possibility of atomized oil entering the intake. If all of this oil is not sucked in by the intake you get what is called blow by and oil actually escapes the intake and gets stuck in the air filter or flies out of the air filter and onto the bike. All of these 'fixes' are unnecessary and to my knowledge there are no data driven analysis that support the need for something like this. If blow by is such a huge problem a really easy fix is to ensure that your oil is not filled to maximum capacity or higher.
@@batglide5484 blow by is from bad rings. Oil from the crank case being pushed into the cylinder. The M8 and TC can push too much oil through the breathers and it introduces more than just air into the cylinder. Yes but the part of that question thats more important than cost is the fix. $10 spent vs $400 is great until the motor locks up from oil starvation. @@kjknuth9127 the blow by pushes excess vapors and oil into the intake through the breather bolts. That's the exact purpose of the breather bolts. When people complain about blow by on their Harleys they are complaining about the oil exiting the air filter and hitting their bike or pants, or they are complaining about excess carbon buildup. Firstly, oil vapor in the air fuel mixture does not contribute meaningfully to carbon buildup. Engines vented to atmosphere still get the same amount of carbon buildup. Secondly, excess crank case pressure is already being vented out of the breather bolts. That is their purpose. Every motor company uses some form of breather bolt setup to relive excess crank case pressure, cars usually use PCV. To solve the issue of excess oil entering the intake and possibly not entering the combustion chamber as designed would be to integrate a catch can of some type between the breather bolt and the intake. If you can show me quantitative data that proves that the breather bolts are not venting enough crank case pressure and that this aftermarket product does, I'll eat my words. i recently installed one on my 2017 M8 and I'm still getting a little oil in the air cleaner. I've read that other guys are removing half a quart of oil after installing the dip stick to help with the issue. Do you guys recommend doing that? * i mean removing half a quart of oil from what the factory recommends
I already have the polished cap and complete dipstick. Is there anyway I can buy just the black cap ? Blacked out the bike and the polished doesn’t match.
I think I know why, but I'd rather hear from someone like yourselves who are more knowledgeable. You obviously went through the trouble of utilizing a one-way flap valve in your design for a reason. why is that valve required because I've seen another similar cap that doesn't have one? thanks.
High quality part. BUT, the Feuling instructions (including this video) are not appropriate for an M8 Softail. Routing the hose was a big challenge; took me 3+ hours to install. Calling tech help line was not too helpful. You will need at least 6 more locking zip ties than the 2 included in kit in order to route the hose and secure it so it won't wander or chafe or interfere operation of other parts, including the side stand.
By routing the breather hose up under the seat before going back down under the frame you are only venting vapor with very minimal oil content. You are riding across more oil residue when you ride 10 ft on the pavement.
Harley Davidson gave us a better and more powerful engine without solving the same oil pressure flow problem they’ve had for all their motors. Government EPA regulations is why they can’t fix it. I’ll be adding Fueling’s dipstick with line filter to my Harley this year, BUT I still have one big question? Should you run ventilating dipstick during a DYNO tune?
if you don't apply too much exhaust backpressure you're engine won't blow oil. neither will over filling it. just hook a copper tube right at the head pipe from the head breathers. it will burn the oil and puke it out the exhaust. like Indian Larry preached add a gizmo and fix the dam thing! so who cares if its puffin smoke. that way everyone will know where you're at. even the Navajo during smoke signal exercises!
That would or will be stolen so fast…I would highly recommend keeping with you at all times cause you will be screwed when you get back to your bike and find no oil dipstick…

How is this legal from an emission requirements
On my 2005 Heritage classic, I just drilled a small hole straight into the top of the stock Oil Tank Cap/dip stick. After an engine rebuild, going (from 88 up to 104 CI), my cap literally blew off the tank while riding. So far this is working good, for a shade tree fixer. Is there a required amount of oil pressure that should be in the Oil Tank? Anyone?
What size is the allen wrench for set screw in side ?
Which direction should the line filter be facing, rear tire or front tire?
Will the fueling dip stick erase the need for a external breathers, stop the blow by from the vents on the heads
I've been told this helps enough that you don't need an external breather. But I've seen people do both. I went with just this!
I order one of these for my M8 but unfortunately I received mine missing the quick disconnect fitting 😔 so I cant install mine until I get that part.
Do I need to do this on a 2022 Heritage?
No Harley started putting in a better oil pump in 2020 you should be fine it was 17. 18 19
@@garyposthuma9607 Much appreciation for the response,
right here now was the only place i’ve heard that, others weren’t sure. Thanks.
@@1862anthony that why there telling people with 17 18 19 to up grade there oil pumps to 2020 oil pump that when Harley put in a lot better oil pump so you have the better oil pump in your 22 ihave a 18 ultra limited want 1500 to 1800 put new pump in I think I keep driving it and hope I don't have problems with it have 30 thousand miles on it
@@garyposthuma9607 Nice, good to know your ride going good, good news. And thanks for info, one less headache I need, dealing with NY traffic is bad enough.
Does this fix the issue with the oil going into my intake
What's the price without filter with filter?
Anything for a twin cam softail
Unfortunately we do not offer any Twin Cam softail fitment for our Vented Dipsticks due to variance in seating positions and potential for rider leg contact. We would love to help you combat any excessive crankcase pressure issues you may be having, give us a call and we'll get you dialed in!
(866) 966-9767
How does this effect the warranty on the power train?
Will this void the warranty?
I’m noticing on your softail m8 dipstick you have a single o ring. i was sent one third party that has 2 o rings for my heritage classic and have been problems with the cap leaking all down my bike since i got it. did they sent me one for a touring m8 ? the oil level is good and line routing correct. do i just have the wrong model ?
give us a call and one of our techs can help you out (866)966-9767
Do you guys recommend synthetic oil or conventional for Harley m8.
Will this fit my 1998 Electra Glide classic
i recently installed one on my 2017 M8 and I'm still getting a little oil in the air cleaner. I've read that other guys are removing half a quart of oil after installing the dip stick to help with the issue. Do you guys recommend doing that? * i mean removing half a quart of oil from what the factory recommends
I also have a 2017 M8 with significant blowby. Just went ahead and spent the $700 for an upgrade to the Feuling oil pump.
what about the negative pressure issue?
Nice
Do you make anything for a 93 FLHS ?
I already have the polished cap and complete dipstick. Is there anyway I can buy just the black cap ? Blacked out the bike and the polished doesn’t match.
Give us a call at the shop and Im sure we will be able to hook you up! (866)966-9767
Well if this is a problem shouldn’t H-D do a recall and install them on all there M8s???
Technically not a problem, but if you put on a lot of miles this can help your motor.
Attaching shit to the frame with cable ties causes corrosion, harley do it all the time I spend hours re routing cables and lines to prevent this
thx
What these run fer?
$279.95
Ouch.... Yeah ill just mod the stock cap thanks though yal 👍
What about vented dipsticks for the push in style sticks?
we are working on it!
You gotta be a dip stick to pay $300 for that!
What do you suggest
Nice hardware, but at $280 that's a little steep.
What’s the name of the air cleaner on the blue bike ?
Its our new "BA" Air Cleaner... coming soon. Stay tuned!
Feuling Parts
Nice 👍
I think I know why, but I'd rather hear from someone like yourselves who are more knowledgeable. You obviously went through the trouble of utilizing a one-way flap valve in your design for a reason. why is that valve required because I've seen another similar cap that doesn't have one? thanks.
Will this cut down on oil accumulation in the throttle body?
Yes. Definitely will. That in turn keeps your piston tops clean.
Do you cap off the vents at the air cleaner after you install this?
great question!! id like to know a well....
@@GUENILLA I left mine as is it's not gonna hurt it. As long as it is vented at crankcase, for sure check with your mechanic.
So does this void the HD factory warranty? I mean, I would like to buy it but not if it's going to void my warranty.
not really! I mean it is very easy to take out and put your stock Harley one back in if needed...
@@FeulingParts( not really ) lol wtf
Will that drop oil in front of my rear tire
By routing the breather hose up under the seat before going back down under the frame you are only venting vapor with very minimal oil content. You are riding across more oil residue when you ride 10 ft on the pavement.
Only late model Twin Cams . Companies are not supporting early model Twin Cams.
When and where can I buy it here in Germany?
I believe Parts Europe!
So, we are asked to buy a part to try to solve the manufacturer’s poor design, and lax tolerances?
I know right? Why no recall notice to have this installed?
@@thecommander2616 You must be a first time Harley owner. 😂
@@joshrandall5297 right? Hahahaha... since 1903 , same same.
@@thecommander2616 EPA
Get them back in stock.

Fuelling
if you don't apply too much exhaust backpressure you're engine won't blow oil. neither will over filling it. just hook a copper tube right at the head pipe from the head breathers. it will burn the oil and puke it out the exhaust. like Indian Larry preached add a gizmo and fix the dam thing! so who cares if its puffin smoke. that way everyone will know where you're at. even the Navajo during smoke signal exercises!
That would or will be stolen so fast…I would highly recommend keeping with you at all times cause you will be screwed when you get back to your bike and find no oil dipstick…
Very nice but the crooks are going to be swiping them right off of our bikes. Feuling needs to make a locking model or an exploding one.
Nah, I had two. One on my softail, and one on my road glide. Been to all types of places. No problem. The whole bike would get stolen before the dipstick. That did cross my mind at one point though. So I feel you.
If harley has so much problems with this motor why don't they fix the issue
Thats what we're here for
You right all the money we pay for the motorcycle they should do a recall and fix the problem
To expensive for me
There's a guy here somewhere, he just drilled a hole in stock cap and threaded a brake fitting in it..stuck a hose on it..3$
Look at the A1 if you can’t afford this.
Only a dip stick would pay $300 for a dip stick, when one can reroute the breather for about $7.00, and avoid being a dip stick.
Just get the Harley updated oil pump , not a band-aid for a broke bone
How TF do you justify 300 for these? 7 dollars tops. Raping customers = no sales.
Sorry but I am not going to fund your CVO with that price.
Jesus wept! Must be trying to pay for a new CNC machine
oh man.. you left us 06 TC out in the cold.
larry
300$ I did this for 12$.
What did you do? I have a 2013 Streetglide. For the crank breathers i just ran hoses into a small bottle in the air cleaner. They had expensive options but that seemed silly.
@@nobodysreview6137 it's a nipple, hose and filter shown in the kit here. Only you can buy that stuff at auto zone for like 10$ . Tip put the filter up high and you dont need the valve. But if you think you do you can buy that for next to nothing. I dont believe in letting someone extort me for Harley parts. I could show you a really cool oil cooler for 60$ too ,fan assist. Also auto parts. They want 500$ for. Back in the day we built all our own shit.you didn't get a (kit) for anything.
Are you kidding me $279
LOL
I’m sure it’s a great thing but ridiculously overpriced. It’s for americans buying everything with a credit card.
Great Idea to fix a built-in problem.........Hmmmmm What ? Sorry but I don't buy products that need fixes on day one.
That dip stick suck! Consumer's are better off with the trask check m8 for the same price and its 100% better.
Stupidly over priced !!
materials, labor, testing, marketing and design is what drives the price. if you have a fusion 360 software, a mini mill and lathe. you could make your own. just sayin..
larry
Look at the A1 if you can’t afford this one right now.
Do I really need to show you other items that are designed, machined, tested and marketed in the same price point ??? Don’t be stupid !
It’s over priced! Those are sucker prices!
$247 jesus fuck
Over engineered only to be overly expensive DIPstick!! Not a good idea, sorry.
Ditch the dipstick
Buy a Honda.... Better bike
Buy Japanese not Chinese..
Harley made in China.. Look it up
By the time you plug the hole back up with all that restriction... The vent isn't worth a damn.
Or , and I know Youl be blown away by this, buy a decent bike instead. Blowby and venting issues solved in an instant. 🖕🏻
