I just had this happen. I went from platinum to dark brown when I asked for light brown root melt. She acted like it was no big deal. I can’t believe hairstyles think it’s ok to gaslight clients. Especially for what they charge. I don’t trust her to fix it. I appreciate this video so much!
I’m feel for you! It’s the worst feeling! The charging and then the denial of what happened! I have messed up as a hairstylist and I said we need to do this quickly! Do the soap cap with bleach and shampoo and it will remove the toner! Xoxo
Same exact thing. I paid $260 and ended up with my blonde highlights being toned dark ash. Ugh. Horrible. It was a few weeks ago so I hope this work. Thanks!
I was like why are you not addressing the fact that I’m darker than when I came in? She was like your brassy, I’m like I’m a brunette and I don’t want white ash grey blonde highlights. The soap cap works really well also 2 months in when things get dingy! And it’s very safe!
thanks for this. First time hair colorer here and I put in a light brown color only to have it come out dark brown. eek look a bit too roy orbison now for my taste and so now i'll try your plan. let's see how it goes!
See, this is why so many people do their own hair. I just spent 200 on getting highlights and color and it looks nothing like the pictures I showed the stylist. I also told her I do not like ash, I prefer warm/gold tones. Then, she went ahead and added an ash toner at the end. I know have darker/greenish cast and I'll have to do a bleach bath to get rid of it, not to mention, tone the hair again. What a waste of money. And same thing, she said it looks great not ashy at all, yeah right.
Just happened to me! I was very light blonde and she took me to a level 6. I wanted a root smudge / blend . Lowlights , well my whole head is a level 6 . Maybe toner darkened what blonde I had I think. But I’m trying this
I have natural very dark brown almost black hair and I get my gray roots colored to match. I also have sort of balayage or foilyage style highlights that my stylist keeps over toning. The first time she did them it was perfect and I’m not sure why she keeps toning so dark. If I do this method, will he pull the color from roots and grays?
This happens to brunettes all the time! Very common. No, you will love it! And you don’t have to shampoo the roots! Just put the soap cap on the hair you need lightened! I also do this at the end of the month to lighten dingy blonde.
Thank you for this. I swear some of the cheaper box colors are nothing like what's on the box. I know Schwarzkopf and L'Oreal are the best on the market but I chose the Clairol this time. ( I was being cheap). My hair came out too dark for golden brown. Looks like dark brown/black. I wanted to lighten it first then put a golden brown which I think would work better but now that I see your video I would rather buy the lightener and developer separately. Thank you so much.
I really want to try this. What highlight kit should I get ? I looked online and they have different color names, some for blonds, some for brunette… etc. ugh! My hair is very close to dark brown and was supposed to be medium at the most . 😢.
@@hollywilliams4432 there was one I used a long time ago...I think it's still on the market. Blondissima...it works well for dark hair. You can lighten it and it will take very well. Then if it's too light you can add a toner to get a lighter shade of golden brown.

This just happened to me. Thank you for this video. I told her not to put a glaze in but she did.
This will work!!!! They are obsessed with Ash! I’m like my hair is blue!
Oh my gosh!!!!! Same!!! Literally got my hair done last Friday and that happened
You can also clarify the hair a few times in the shower!

Will this work on brown hair that was dyed 2-3 shades dark? Thank you so much!!
Yes!
What you can do is do several treatments throughout the next couple weeks until the desired shade. It’s what the salon would do.

Shampoo
With strong cleansers goes a long way also!
@@BrandiSharp Hi Brandi. Thank you! So just a clarifying shampoo? Would dish soap do pretty much the same? (I'm out in the sticks)
lol Roy Orbison. I am dealing with that too now.
@@surfreadjumpsleephow did your hair turn out? I’m current in your position 😭😭

Ash is also very darkening!
This just happened to me. I’ve been crying
I cried as well! You can fix it!
@@BrandiSharp yes I plan to. Thanks for all the great info 👍

This works! I was so sad! I’m sure you are too! I cried and I’m a pro! It was the toner! Try this!
Hi when you say a scoop of lightener can you give me an estimate of how much please ?
Comparable to a large tablespoon

Is this a bleach wash?
Mixed with shampoo, yes.

how much devloper do you use 2 oz or 4
2 oz
Can you plz explain what ratios to use? Equal parts shampoo & developer? How much is a scoop of lightener? Thank you@@BrandiSharp
I am asking the same question as above concerning the ratios. Thank you 😊
