  • As we know, in the end of 2005, V10 engines were banned. But FIA allowed smaller teams who did not developeded their own engines, to use the V10s for one more year. Toro Rosso was the only team who did that, but with a cost. Instead of revving up to 20000 RPM (which was the rev limit of the new V8 engines), the FIA imposed a 16500 rev limit to the Cosworth V10 Toro Rosso engine, making it uncompetitive to oblivion. It was the last V10 engine in the recent history of F1.

Even on low revs it sounds awesome.

It just sounds wrong with the rev limiter. The sad sound of the lost V10. Please come back someday.

10 years later still no comeback of the monster V10

Btw guys, I'm fairly sure Neel is very keen on simracing, since I've found many tracks and gameplay videos created by him on various games. Nice to know that a guy that raced an F1 vehicle is a potential opponent in the world of online simracing :)

the v8 first started using in 2006 and Toro rosso was the only one to last have the v10 engine

Beauty of a car it was despite its extremely underpowered engine

Otras escuderías en 2006 decían que estos V10 aunque estuvieran limitados en rpm igual tenían una ventaja, tenían mejor salida en las curvas y curvas lentas por la mayor cilindrada.

That engine was not made to run so low in the rev range, and it sounds unhealthy as well.

Not sure what you mean with unhealthy lol, less revs = less strain on the engine

The noise you proclaim to be "unhealthy" is actually just the TC kicking in. Noting to do with the engine.

    V8s didn't have rev limit in 2006

All the teams, except Toro Rosso, changed for v8 this season.
But they are a backmarker so there is a rev limiter in the engine making hard for they to be ahead of the others.
      (sorry for my bad english)

Howlite the crystal gem Yh it's rev limited so it produces the same 750bhp as the v8s

Why are today's wet tyres so shit? These look way better.

***** What? Did you reply to the wrong comment?

    • @MRFUCKOFF202

***** So why are you telling me it's about effectiveness and safety when current tyres are shitter at both of those things? Who the fuck cares what sound a tyre makes? The tyres look essentially the same visually. If anything the new wet tyres look slightly nicer with their blue Pirelli design on the side.

***** So you did reply to the wrong comment then. I didn't say anything about engines, NASCAR, old F1 or anything else you mentioned. I said the wet tyres of 2006 are far better the wet tyres of 2011 onwards.
"The tyres have changed and they do offer more safety than the older ones or then wouldn't have changed them"
No, they do not offer more safety. They clearly have less grip than the tyres seen in this video. Do you really think safety is the *only* factor in changing tyres? Nothing to do with manufacturer deals, direction of the sport, type of tyre they want etc?
I'm very happy for you. Personally I value the sound of the cars and the V6T sound is not as good as any previous F1 sound. It's pretty much the only reason I watch motorsport in person. Don't think I'd bother going to my local circuit three times a year if the cars themselves didn't entertain me. I certainly wouldn't pay £200 or whatever F1 tickets cost when British GT is more entertaining in person.

***** Yeah, as in they look like they perform way better. They clearly have more grip than the Pirelli wet tyres. I can understand wanting to reduce grip in the dry for more exciting racing, but in the wet they surely have to prioritise safety and give maximum grip possible, but they haven't.

Compare the braking points and aggression through the corners. I know we can discount powerslides due to traction control in 2006, but it's still faster and more stable in the braking zones and corners. Despite the 2014 Mercedes being way faster in a straight line than this Torro Rosso, I make this lap about 1 second faster than the fastest lap of Suzuka 2014.
