I just want to say thank you to Julia for masking and social distancing when she came to say hello, so she wouldn't risk spreading covid to us and chat. Very considerate 🥰
jacob's "i'm so good, the best to ever do it." to immediately "i'm not fine actually" and straight back to "always been the best, never faltered" is actually the best thing to watch as someone who's trying to get through their inability to accept imperfections in their work
Julia coming out to say “the guys” game was her favorite (mine too, lol) was the highlight of the stream, I was so happy! Glad to know she’s recovering and finding enjoyment in life despite being hella sick. 💕
I love Mooncat so much, like Jacob sort of gets at it's like playing a game from before control scheme conventions were standardized, the wildest part is after you play for a bit it starts feeling like "oh of course this is just how you control a 2d platformer"
I found it helped to use only the left arrow button and the far right face button (B on an xbox style controller) and just try to make your thumbs forget the rest of the buttons are there
their stupid "small private room" bit literally became canon in Elden Ring and Jacob's still like "oh my gosh, I can't believe people actually watch SSS"
This collection has really taught me that watching other people who have no idea what's going on yet play a platformer I'm familiar with is fun and relatable, and watching them play a turn based strategy game with these same conditions is excruciating for some reason.
The way “blow him, then stone him” (1:27:37) and aggressively declaring “get ‘im with the rock!” (1:27:50) have so rapidly integrated themselves into my everyday vernacular is frightening as it is hilarious.
Oh wow I totally didn't notice when playing it myself (probably because I only really looked at the title before playing and didn't have the gameplay context) that it's "Mortol" as in "mortal" as in "you kill your dudes to progress in the level"
I didn't realize that "Lemmings, but a platformer" would be so sick. It rocked so hard that Julia scraped herself off the bed to dazedly stumble to the door and say how awesome it was.
UFO 50 is real good. Hits all kinds of nostalgia for Amiga cracktros and NES "5000 in 1" cartridges filled with Contra romhacks and occasionally a game you've never heard of.
Also have to add: 33:48 Tail juuust slightly visible over Jacob’s shoulder 35:13 Kitty (Olive?) appears from behind Jacob, then checks out wall + instruments (Thanks for doing these, btw. They always bring me such joy :))
i remain unsure if i want to play UFO 50 for myself but i have been loving watching other people play it and i’m very excited to see some speed runs of some of the games at gdq events or the like, especially stuff like mortol and mooncat
Been playing around in this pack and it's so good, despite the console aesthetic it reminds me of nothing more than the feeling back in the day of having downloaded a bunch of shareware/freeware games with no idea what to expect beyond an obscure title and one sentence description. But, like, the nostalgic version of what you think that was like because you only remember the best parts of it...
Devilition is essentially a demake of Diabolika, one of Derek and Jon’s early freeware titles! I emitted an audible whoop when I realised what I was looking at
I think you guys would enjoy a game called witch spring r, its so underrated and yet its got 10/10 on steam but noone is talking about it. The character designs are cute as well as the environments highly recommend it, loving it ☺️☺️
I was already going to buy this game but after watching the stream I bought the game and went STRAIGHT to Velgress. This is 100% ABSOLUTELY MY SHIIIIIIT!
This reminds me of Action 52 Owns, a project to remake the games of Action 52, but, you know, good. They've gotten a bit less than halfway through, but some of the remakes have been pretty wild. That said, Attactics was painful to watch. There's "bad at strategy" and there's whatever the fuck *that* was. Like he *knew* you could move things backwards but then never did it.
We are also the opposite in the way he is methodically going through in order instead of hopping around playing whatever has the most interesting name/icon
In the mortolia one I didn't realize they were piggies until he said so. Until then I thought they were dudes wearing like swimming goggles or something.
Is it weird that I look at Mortol and think "this is such an interesting representation of corporatism, the ideological motor behind fascism"? like the way that you have just a group of guys, who are all expendable and will - as Jacob said - die for the cause because they believe in Mortolia, and in the end, all that matters is the objective, not who makes it back home. or maybe that's more the military complex in general. Either way, this game is sick. Very well-executed concept.
I usually only watch live on stream but really wanted to comment somewhere to suggest a really recent game to consider/look at playing on stream eventually maybe or even on your own: The Plucky Squire. It's really cute and has a low-stakes kind of vibe, and I feel like mr. English Major Jacob would especially like it, with a big part of the mechanics being word-play. Literally changing everything based on the words used. It has lots of cute/cool art including collectibles being the concept art & similar. Kinda reminds me of early legend of zelda (mostly vibes tbh) but with word puzzles and 2d/3d trickery.
also its pretty neat that even tho im pretty sure that there are instructions for each game that jacob just didnt look for, the majority of the games are pretty easy to figure out thru trial and error

"I just came from an egg and I have no money"
God me too
my favorite part about Ruth coming up was EVERYONE in the audience IMMEDIATELY started chanting her name as she walked on stage
It sounds so fun, I wish I could watch it somewhere!
Julia appearing felt like a cryptid sighting.
time stamp pls

Someone please add "We're besting level 2" to the Jacob gets punished for his hubris compilation

I've been sick with COVID and didn't realize it was Wednesday until this dropped, and now I'm excited cuz i can watch tonight's stream live :)
Get well soon! ❤
I hope you feel better soon!🍀💖
Sorry you're sick, feel better soon!
9:45 SSS is the small, private room with friends. One might say El den ring of friendship😏💜
their stupid "small private room" bit literally became canon in Elden Ring and Jacob's still like "oh my gosh, I can't believe people actually watch SSS"
I'M SORRY IT WHAT?
Wait what? An SSS joke became canon?
@@nathancooley8459 there's a site of grace in the dlc called "small private altar"
@SexySkeletons69 so, its probably a huge coincidence, but there is a grace site in Elden Ring thats labeled "Small Private Altar"
also there was the other game with fool tarrot card being attributed to a character named jacob and loooking like him, it's so funny
Jacob left us unattended without the supervision of at least one of the producers. I for one do not feel safe or taken care of!
This collection has really taught me that watching other people who have no idea what's going on yet play a platformer I'm familiar with is fun and relatable, and watching them play a turn based strategy game with these same conditions is excruciating for some reason.
I want a soundboard of shit Jacob yells on solo streams lol

i love the NL to jacob pipeline with games like this
36:51 kitty in the doorway
37:02 wagging tail + wanderer olive
38:56 olive takes on the mic + kitty sneeze
Also have to add:
33:48 Tail juuust slightly visible over Jacob’s shoulder
35:13 Kitty (Olive?) appears from behind Jacob, then checks out wall + instruments
(Thanks for doing these, btw. They always bring me such joy :))
I hope they play this again, I'd love to see more of the games and Julia's reaction to the chaos. I hope she feels better soon.
I would be so upset if I finally saw a drawfee live and it was a ton of vomit noises, but I guess that's a risk you take with drawfee.
yeah i would absolutely love it so i guess jacob was right with it being divisive xd
The music of Mooncat. I want that to be the soundtrack of my life.
I could watch Jacob play these games forever, he's so funny
i remain unsure if i want to play UFO 50 for myself but i have been loving watching other people play it and i’m very excited to see some speed runs of some of the games at gdq events or the like, especially stuff like mortol and mooncat
Yeah I can tell there are going to be some super interesting runs coming out of this, maybe a "UFO 50 Block" at a future xGDQ?
I like the alternate thumbnail begging strategy. Like I don't have the mental creative energy to make this look appealing, JUST WATCH IT OK?

The description of Barrett’s curse word then vomit bit sounded amazing 😂😂
Exited to see you play these games! One of these is a point and click horror game I just forgot the name of it! Love the pixel art, good vibes!
Night Manor! Would love to see you and Julia play it!
I've been fixated on this for so long but I can't videos game so I'm very excited to live it vicariously through you!
I love how the music is slightly microtonal. It’s kind of banging.
when jacob did that triple bounce mooncat? Genuinely inspired
“I just got killed by Satan?!?” made me laugh today. Thank you.
Incredible video, please continue to make more
This stream had me laughing and howling out loud, such a good stream 😂

Bug Hunter? I love that band

Wowza the music in these here yams sure do sllllllap
but when are we gonna get a small private room full of vampires?
at this point i am actively seeking MoonCat content
Wow I am the opposite of Jacob, Bug Hunter has been the most my vibe of anything I've played yet except maybe Mooncat

it said just watch this so i am watching this
You guys really should try Noita. I think it would be a great game for an SSS stream.
Barrett went full Mike Patton
the Mooncat protagonist looks like an Amogus grafted onto a pair of kermit legs, it's very unsettling for some reason
1:43:06 - 1:43:22 16 seconds of pure agony
