I really think that the recent sale of the headset, which boosted sales something like 2000%, has given us the opportunity for the resurgence thats PSVR2 deserves 🔥
I bought it this Black Friday as I couldn't resist a €200 discount. Was actually planning on just buying a discounted Slim when I noticed the PSVR2 was discounted as well, then went for the Pro as VR likely benefits from the extra power of the Pro. The PSVR2 was delivered and I should've received the Pro last Friday if it wasn't for DHL to "deliver" it without actually delivering it... currently waiting for the seller and DHL to sort it out and it's a bummer. Anyway, can't wait to try it all out!
I was actually hoping that the discounted PSVR2 would increase userbase and as such keep Sony interested in this hardware, so it's great to see sales increased 2000%! 👍
All ill say is that my household has two units now😅
Had psvr2 launched with backwards compatibility, cost only 500 instead of 550, and maybe had one huge new game like half life alyx or GTA 5 VR, this would've been the biggest VR headset right now.. Like it's seriously such a good freaking headset I get so mad that Sony isn't supporting it as much as they should. They shouldn't have had to sell it to people at basically half the price, really seems like they gave up on it which was such a shame. But with this hand tracking, I really hope this means they didn't give up on it. But still I just can't get over how badly they handled it. They really could've changed the landscape of VR entirely, and devs would've focused on PS and PC VR instead shitty mobile quest VR.
@musicimpact7120 there's still time. Just try to enjoy the 3rd party strides being made
@@Calakapepe I am, but can't help but feel like this was so much lost potential... Like i said, I love this headset, I wish there were more stuff to do with it. Psvr1 had way more free stuff for you to do like UA-cam VR and rec room.
Wow, I am extremely surprised but also absolutely impressed. The PSVR2 just keeps getting better and better
But we are still basically polishing a turd.
@@Evilkingus why are you here?
I just want an ability to "flip the bird" on Cars overtaking me in GT7 😂
Must have
The only real use surely? 😂
Yeah I was thinking it would be nice to track hands on a steering wheel and actually interact with it. That would be sweet.
I saw this earlier this morning and got so excited! Psvr2 has really been my console/gaming highlight this year. Possibilities continue to grow!
Looks like I bought a PSVR2 at the right time!
Same 😂
The Black Friday sale they did I feel was a definite good step to attract new users such as my self into buying and getting into the psvr system
I am loving it with casual races on grand turismo and horizon is stunning
Sony should be porting their flat games instead of doing this IMO. However, it’s definitely a good sign they are still investing in PSVR2
Or psvr games to psvr2
Just imagine insomniac Spiderman in vr…
They should be doing so much more man. Psvr2 is literally the best headset for the price out right now, it's so fucking good. It pisses me off so much that there is so little content for it. Just a couple of good games... We should be able to play psvr1 games, watch UA-cam VR like you could on psvr1, there should be Disney plus VR, Netflix VR to watch 3d movies. Rec Room should be available on this thing since that's the only social app that can be since VR chat is obviously not possible. Such a shame that you are so limited to only a couple of great games on this thing, makes me so mad.
Y'all need to lookup Flat2VR Studios, thats exactly what they are experts at. Starting with some smaller games but they are gonna be huge very soon!
This is extremely exciting! I absolutely love the PSVR2 and can't wait to see this hand tracking implemented in the future. My immediate thought was the same, maybe a Playroom VR / Astro title to show off what this can do for games, giving different scenarios.
With the recent sales, I really hope this shows Sony that the PSVR2 is not a dead hardware.
Just bought one through Sony direct sale for “my son” for Christmas haha
I know he’s going to love it but I’m also stoked too 😆
Shouldve got 2 and played coop games with him!
Yo, I love PSVR2. I am so addicted to it right now.
This is encouraging, shows the haters that Sony never abandoned VR. They just have a strange way of showing it.
Like the deadbeat neglecting dad that every once in a while takes us to a movie and gets us a treat 😊
I'm fascinated to see this technology take off on PSVR2 because I have some games that in certain use case scenarios would benefit from this new tracking - hands and fingers, and maybe a feet tracking feature
Eye tracking feature on the PC would be next level for the PSVR 2 on PC.
Imagine this in Gran Turismo 7🤯 it would be amazing realistic.
I want a wheel to put my hands on. Trying to drive with a steering wheel I can’t feel and have to position my hands mid air carefully in front of me would be horrible.
@bigginsd1 i didnt really understand what u saying but im talking about Sim Setup+ This VR feature in GT7 would be epic
Of love to be able to interact with the wheel and the dashboard in GT. So many times I want to press the buttons….
Yeah every developer can use it afaik. I was chatting with a developer about it on discord earlier. It's been known by developers for a while apparently. As for the NDA, I don't think developers would have to sign a specific NDA for this feature. Far more likely that the development NDA they sign to get a dev kit to begin with includes not disclosing features which haven't been publicly announced yet.
I think this could open up so many things, if sony would only make a home for vr players, with hand tracking this could be a game changer without opening a game.think some where you can put all your game rewards and have your library right there all around you, watch videos etc ect. I know this will never happen but wow I can dream
In case the Sense controllers break we will still have games to play....LOL
As someone who recently got a psvr2 and spent 3 hours to get the R2 button working, this was hilarious 😂😂😂
@@calvinwilson3617you should definitely take that back haha. Why wouldn’t the R2 trigger work ?
@@chrisbrown113096it happens for a lot of users at the start you have to like clean them first or something
@@chrisbrown113096 the controllers are pretty well known to have problems working properly. The solutions range from blowing it it like an n64 and flicking the trigger. Clearly the controllers are cheaply made. After flicking r2 enough it decided to work
@@calvinwilson3617 I’m not saying it doesn’t exist , but I keep track of a lot of VR news and talk. I haven’t seen it become “a well known” thing. You should take it back instead of just accepting how it is.
Still no Separate Ways or Mercenaries for RE4R on PSVR2, the pain is real
I need resident evil 2 VR
Excited for this. I would prefer gloves for vibration effect if at all it’s possible. Hey if it’s just a software update then I’m happy
Yes I think hand-tracking needs something like that. Without any sort of tactile sensation, I fear this will just feel like the Kinect all over again. If Sony won't make haptic gloves, maybe bHaptics will? They already make haptic vests and wrist devices which work on PS5 with PSVR 2 games.
I mean this is better because it's free, you don't have to buy anything extra for it to work. And if you haven't tried it on quest, let me tell you that it is very immersive to see your hands being tracked in the game without any controller. I agree that I'd rather have other things like Dualsense tracking so they can remaster Astro bot rescue mission or something like that. But this is still really awesome.
@@musicimpact7120 yes definitely
Man this is really awesome, like really really awesome, but I wish they would do tracking for the dualsense. I always said dualsense tracking was possible yet people always said I was wrong because the tracking was different to how it was on PS4. But this confirms that it is absolutely possible. So I really hope we get Astro Bot remastered if Dualsense tracking ever becomes a thing. Also hopefully they can make navigating the menu possible with a combination of eye tracking and hand tracking, like how the apple vision pro did, a lot of people loved that so Sony should show off they can do it with a headset that's 5 times cheaper.
This is great, I'm thinking a car combat game with wheel support, one hand on the wheel, while firing a virtual gun with the other hand.
Sony definitely is not abandoning VR with things like this and My First Gran Turismo. It's all things to entice gamers and devs into the ecosystem. They just need to be more vocal about it!
😁✌️☮️❤️
Totally agree they need to be more vocal. It's infuriating how they seem to be allergic to talking about how they support PSVR 2.
I'm also really looking forward to My First Gran Turismo (even though MY first Gran Turismo was THE first Gran Turismo), as it will probably convince me to finally buy GT7 (it's even on sale now).
I think the biggest gate for GT7 is people not knowing if it'll make them sick. I had a friend physically throwing up after trying it but they were new to vr so wasn't used to it. So a free to try VR GT is a smart move imo 😁🤘
@@Hippy_Pickle edit-- my query was answered. so "my first" gt7 is going to include vr support? Great news! One of the games Im most curious about but didnt wanna pay 40 to 80 bucks to find out
From what I've seen so far it says PSVR2 support, a smart move to try before you buy the main game if so 😁🤘
@@Calakapepe Yup, it's confirmed on the Playstation Blog that it has full PSVR 2 support.
"behemoth of a game" hehe
I'm not sure how much i would use it for gaming but i have used hand tracking on Q3 just for scrolling apps and the store etc. I love haptics way too much to ever game without controllers. But maybe gloves are the next evolution
Yeah I think hand-tracking for games will be limited until there's some sort of haptic solution. Without it it'd just feel too much like the kinect did. I need some tactile feedback when I play games. Even the sensation of pressing a button is better than nothing.
If Sony won't make some haptic gloves, maybe bHaptics will? Seems like a great opportunity that's right up their alley.
hey, this channel CAN look forward instead of every video being about old software we all already own!
I wonder what Sony will be cooking next because they cooked with this one 🤩
Great. Now add Foveated rendering and HDR to the PC interface!
Impressive! Good find Jammy
Excuse me, what the fuck!? Last thing I expected to see today! Exciting, but completely out of the blue, at least for me!
That's frickin wild. Didn't see this coming
Exciting news!
that will be amazing if they also allow it to be used with the pcvr stream driver, it would make my flights in dcs so much more fun and real :)
I thought that was interesting to see Masters of Light, a hand tracking game from Quest in the psvr2 store a week ago
Ok let's not get too excited since we know sony loves making cool demos and not using them, but my god that would be incredible!!!!!
Although, it's gonna take a while for games to update the inclusion in....
I'm pretty sure developers are currently open to use it, so I'm sure we'll see some ht games pop into the library soon enough
@notar5148 Even so, it's an update they'll have to push which has to be approved by sony. But I do suspect if the feature ever comes out, it'll be releases with a variety of games as a "celebration".
Yeah I'm not sure how many developers will update older games to allow for hand-tracking, but it does open the door for it to be an option in the future, as well as for ports of hand-tracking based games that are already out on the Quest.
Imagine if the Subside developer implements this. I generally don't care about hand tracking, but that could be pretty damn cool.
@@GreyMatterShades If the feature is released, they'll likely give an incentive for the first batch who updates the feature before it's sent to every owner.
Diffently got it at 350 if they keep at that price it will do good
Exactly! If Sony didn't care about psvr2, they would be making micro improvements....I hate the heresay negative press over Sony VR press.
Sounds good! I will say, unless my room is very bright, not just well lit for human eyes, i can still get tracking flubs here and there.. so although it's cool, I wonder what the reliability would be for this.
Would be cool to see this in a game or for navigating menus in a non gamingapp that could come one day
Love seeing Sony quietly silencing the haters.
What’s Sonys next first party game for psvr2?
rec room will become more immersive now
Rec Room would have to get ported to PSVR 2 first. The developers said a while ago that they didn't think they could recoup the expenses of a port to PSVR 2, so they had no plans for it. Maybe with the recent sales and stories of developer's games actually selling better on PSVR 2 than Quest, they might reconsider.
Or you could play it on PC I guess, but there's no guarantee PSVR 2 hand-tracking will be supported on PC, just like it doesn't support a bunch of the other PSVR 2 features.
@@GreyMatterShades Hand tracking feels more likely to work OOB on PC once it's available than the other stuff. Most of the 'non-functional' features of PSVR2 on PC are things the games there don't support anyway. So the games would need to be modified to work with those features before it's worth Sony unlocking the rest of it. But hand tracking is already pretty common on a lot of VR titles on PC, so should just work once Sony flicks that switch.
Maybe that's why controllers aren't available separately . Soon we don't need them . Hmm .
But wouldn’t you need the analog stick to walk in-game?
We’re REALLY not getting controllers sold separately now 😂😂😂
A piano game comes to my mind.
Ohh im wondering what the "Behemoth of a game" is might it be the game ive already preordered
Bring this feature along with the alteady possible eye tracking to the PC compatibility.
Looks like I picked good time to finally get into VR, especially through PSVR2. Been playing a mad amount of NMS lately thanks to the Normandy Expedition. Might need to try the VR mode again and play both at the same time and make the most of it.
This looks like a win for us users once folks start integrating it. And means that the only real killer feature we're still lacking (at least from my limited knowledge of the rest of the space) is passthrough gaming. The headset can do black and white passthrough of the environment, so it's surely just a firmware thing to make it possible. So if they can do hand tracking over a year and a half into the lifecycle with no change to the hardware, surely they can add that as well. Especially with the power of an actual console running it rather than having all the hardware needed being onboard.
Wonder if this will be supported in VrChat
I know that's a bit off topic, but as a psvr2 and a quest3 i can now say that the biggest problem of the psvr2 is the lens's it just in a whole different lvl everything looks so sharp and beautiful on the quest
Would be truly game changing if they could get flat to VR conversion like on PC.
This would be a cool way to play Aces Of Thunder in my opinion. Whenever that releaaes.
Glad the vr is finally getting some love. By far the best vr out there
No freakin way 😮
Can all my fellow Black Friday sale snipers get a MASSIVE W. THANK GOD I WAITED
PSVR2 on PC. Would it run on DCS?
Sony would have to add the capabilities to their PC VR drivers. Considering their limited implementation of PSVR 2 features on PC so far, I wouldn't hold my breath. Then again, if you'd asked me yesterday if I thought they'd make hand-tracking for the PSVR 2 at all, I would've said chances are slim to nil.
Sony has patented ' haptic thumsticks years ago . Would be the perfect way to play hand tracked 1st person shooters
Wouldn’t this only work for stationary games? How else could you move with no controller that has an analog stick?
I have come to the conclusion that swinging your hands could be a great fix!
Will it work on pc?
I have never understood in what capacity handtracking is supposed to be the big deal. Maybe with some tetris-like puzzle games or so. Most definitely not shooter og action games.
Every little thing that improves VR immersion adds up
WHAAAAAAAAT!!!??? 🤯😱🙊
Oh this is AWESOME.
But will it work on PC?
In gt7 will be great...
we want pssr ! :)
How to walk without the Orbs?😮
THIS IS BIG NEWS!!!
Bro , hand tracking on gt7 so your hands now can move around car 👀
Be honest, you want it so you can flip off the other drivers if they shunt you off the course. At least, that's why I'd want it 😂
@ you got me bro 🤣
Possibly learn sign language
WTF!? cool...
Did not use my psvr2 in like a year and think ill still pass:)
Cool beans 😁
Cool bro
a "behemoth" huh?
Already the case of modded skyrim. Not new. Sony doesn't release eye tracking for pcvr...
Tracking what???!
a bit annoying if the headset has to see the hands for it to work
Yeah it will, but this is the case for every headset's hand-tracking afiak. Fwiw the field of view of the PSVR 2 is larger than what you can see in the passthrough mode. Hopefully it works well.
I have been generally disappointed in PSVR2. Eye tracking doesn’t seem to be used at all
They use it but you don't see it. Because it renders the point where you are looking to top graphics and around to weaker graphics to safe power.
This looks worthless. We just want games. Behemoth and aliens will make this an excellent month. Metro was amazing.
Kinda weird since PSVR2 is dead 😉
