I'm sorry, you're a great actor but, you're a lousy liar... Who accepts a P/X on an 04 plate, without checking the basic like it drives okay, all the windows work etc... then you start talking about using a heat gun on the bumpers 🙄 what kind of idiot are you? Using a heat gun on plastic bumpers only lasts for 3 months and they end up looking worse than before you used it.. You didn't bother checking the boot either then before you brought it by your reaction at all the parts in there... Then at the end of it your ripping people off selling an 04 Volvo worth £1,700 for £2,500.... I dunno about "subscribing to your channel"... I've unsubscribed... Remind me never to buy a car off you...
That’s one hell of a come down 😮XC70 to a C1 !! I’d be in tears 😭
I have owned several V70’s, XC70’s XC60 D5’s. Bullet proof, ultra reliable and will go on forever. The steering angle sensor should fix the anti skid warning. (done that!) Put some new oil in the gearbox…but NOT a total replace of oil, about a 3 litre sump dump. Fuel, Oil and or Air filter change plus oil. Change/ check cam belt and tensioner if not done. Also..VERY IMPORTANT, check when the serpentine belt and tensioner were done. Serpentine belt coming off or snapping on the older 163bhp D5’s, which this one is, can take out the Cam belt killing the engine. Any weird feelings in the steering, give a quick, cheap steering fluid flush/replacement. Alarm warning message is common at this age. It’s due to the battery in the alarm module dying and corroding the cct board, found under the right wheel cover. Best fix is a new alarm module. Last one I bought was £160 ish from Volvo. Front lower suspension arm bushes usually worn at this age, but looks like you have new arms, so easy fix. Note V70 and XC70 lower arms are DIFFERENT and easily mixed up. Drop links are usually worn at this mileage, cheap easy fix. If all made good, I reckon retail to anyone who knows a good XC70 for about £2995 with a warranty for a QUICK sale. Great cars and this one will be good for another 100k miles easily. It will outlive the next owner.
That, is a BELTING Bus! Glad you've decided to retail it, needs be on the road that does, bud 👍🏻
at £700 with a shedload of repair and service parts in the boot there must be a good margin in that obviously?
What a lovely old thing. Love an old school Volvo. I've seen these with 300k and still going strong. As soon as I saw all those things in the boot, I knew this is a good one. Well worth £2500 to someone. What I don't understand, is why it was traded against a Citroen of all things. That's one heck of a comedown.
Agreed !
Proper Volvo love them, follow up video would be great :-) 👍
That's a car that a lot of people would bite your hand off in order to get it. I do like the build quality of Swedish cars, particularly between 1990 - 2005.
I owned the same car, same year, similar mileage. Absolutely loved it, went anywhere in the snow and was supremely comfortable. The only downside was it was quite thirsty, other than that they are fantastic motors.
Total credit to previous owners, the car has been loved.
When you see a 20 year old car with matching premium tyres all the way round you know they've looked after it.
At 20 years old its just run in - will go on forever. A bit of TLC it will be a great workhorse. Great call retailing it.
Tailgate wont rot as they are fibre glass.
Anti skid will either abs sensor wheel speed or abs ring on the shaft ,owned 5x volvos now
Volvos have a huge following, so you’d imagine there’s a return in it.
I absolutely love them (I have a 850 T5 estate) and will be following its progress!
Matt at high peak autos will have it for a grand.
And sell it at 6 grand. No wonder he can't shift stock.
Nice to see a Volvo on the channel finally
Volvos are usually good sellers nephews had his same age and model 3 yrs not a problem
Hey Lee, you would be suprised how much desire there is for these somwhat old Volvo's. The age of Volvo's really don't matter as much as on like french or german cars. The "sort of" low mileage of that car, the awd system, the good history, the solid driving quality really seal the deal for the enthousiasts. Love to see you as a man retailing cheap small car very often giving a try to a very beautiful car brand that still knows today how to build cars properly (many people disagree with me on that, but I don't care). I know you will get rid of that car for shure😉
Thing with it is Volvo has turned its back on selling conventional estates in the UK. Madness - cars they built a reputation on you don't just walk away from. I also suspect Ford will regret axing the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo in the long run
Manufacturers build what the market wants, If people bought new Estates or Small Fords they would be available still, Like it or not SUV's now dominate and show no sign of stopping being desirable.
I drive an ageing Duster myself so I know what is going on but I suspect when overall sales fall they will be sad @@-DC-
Li, for some reason your Wolwo reminds me of a gold Hillman Hunter Estate we took as a px on a beige Vauxhall Carlton back in the early 80s. we'd serviced MOT'd and maintained it for the past 2 years, it had a full MOT history, loads of bills but the body was really shabby and it was mileagey too. it only owed us a couple of drinks which could have easily been recovered.
we kicked its tyres a few dozen times, uhm'd and ah'd a bit, used it as a coffee table for a few days and finally decided to do a proper job on the body in our workshop.
the car sold at full price on our forecourt after just 2 days with a really decent profit. sometimes you just have to give it a go...
Should be able to shift that easily Lee. An ex neighbour of mine has the same year , same engine standard V70 and it’s sitting on 265000 miles.
What the hell was the previous owner smoking to chop in an XC70 for a C1…..terrible move 😩
Insanity!
Please keep us up to date with Volvo
Will do
£700 what a bargain!
The way you've just advertised it Lee?????, they'll be fighting over it.😁😁😁😁😁
oh my hearts desire .I am a sucker for an old Volvo! in 1989 I worked selling Volvo Trucks and had a 240 as my company car and I have loved them ever since!
Had the anti skid service warning on mine along with ABS on my 2005 v70 replaced ABS ring warning went off didnt even reset with Autel scanner, 182000 miles 2.4 petrol had for 3 years now runs better than a lot of newer cars its a keeper lol. Good job with retailing it will see a good profit and keep the old girl on the road for quite a few more years.
Well done you, I can speak from experience, the right car, presented well will always find the right home.
Just be upfront on what it needs, sold 30+ Mercedes W124’s.
The Cross Country was developed to compete with the Audi Allroad.
I thing Volvo stopped at this model, then came the XC90
I would valet that and that’s it. Proper reliable bus.
Thats a £4k car in Cornwall all day long.
They go nuts for that 4wd version down here.
€4,150.00 Euro's in Ireland lol😅
@@liamegan4303 the auld farmers would love them ...... ( two bales of hay in the boot ......😁) .
That’s only 2wd as it has an anti skid fault.
It's $1000 in Australia
got one for sale 2007 180bhp version lol everything works apart from the radio grrrr but these things are great for motorway munching
Very happy with my slightly younger and lower mileage P3 XC70 (A D5 SE LUX) , a little more power at just over 200hp performance is not bad considering the weight of the vehicle.
Fantastic on long runs where it is also at its best for economy. The AWD does mean extra maintenance items but a haldex and differential service are not ridiculously difficult. They also can benefit from power steering and transmission flush for longevity. When I was first using the car I was impressed at the details of the design, unlike many other cars it looks like someone thought about how people actually use their cars. Yesterday I replaced the HID headlights, they were working but "tired". Literally a 5 minute job to do both with NO tools required. Amazingly for a relatively old and complex car EVERYTHING works. (the satnav is dated though despite new maps)
Probably the most practical and useful car I have ever owned. Passengers always comment how comfortable it is.
I had a black one a few years ago, brilliant car , yours looks like it still has a lot to offer…great video Lee keep em up.
Cracking car for that money Lee! Bullet proof car. Bargain for the right buyer
Retail it will be 10x more reliable than anything on the road these days
3 owners in 20 years speaks volumes
That's a fine looking car. Looking forward to the next chapter
Matt at High peak had one with i think over 300k on it and drove without a problem 💪
The new owner is on a xc70 group I'm in
@@mcmediaandfilm ah cool 😎👍
Just watched Matt video where he bought a cheap xc70. He got stung out of a few grand fixing it up.
@@David-bl1bt Ah yes I remember now, but still what's a few grand to drive something different plus it's probably lack of maintenance by the previous owners caused the big bill! Keep on top of things and less big bills 💸
Think your doing the right thing Lee retailing the big Volvo, mileage isn't high particularly as it's 20 years old, it's not going to cost alot to make it retail ready , your certainly not a greedy dealer not like 1 I could mention who I often think he wants far too much for certain cars, £1995 you will soon sell it. My brother years ago.had an 06 S60 D5 with 185 lump he loved it and said he would never not consider buying another Volvo, he's was an ex fleet which he bought at 2 years old with 80,000ish , he had it about 6 years it was faultless with just over a 110,000 miles.
I'd fit the clockspring first then code read it. That one should have the Volvo rear diff in opposed to the FoMoCo in the later ones and later XC90s. Haldex faults are common and expensive to fix, but if it doesn't throw any other codes up then all good. Check when the haldex was serviced last, and as another comment check the serpentine belt 👍 good old motor the D5, love my XC90 👌
Thanks Lee for another great informative video 👍👍
Lovely car Lee. Good luck with the Volvo
I'm friends with an ex volvo dealer these are really are solid cars you can see why engine was used in focus rs and why they were police cars
Can't beat a Volvo
Someone traded that in for a C1?? Was he mental?? We've got an XC60 with the D5 and it's great. Had french cars in the past and they've all suffered with electrical gremlins and general french penny pinching quality issues.
Fantastic old things 👌 had a S60 for years than bought a jag 😢 but currently looking for a new to me S60 again never let me dwn the old volvo. Gr8 videos Lee 📹
Great video bud, you could flat top of that door yourself, get a can made up of base coat, then some clear, dead easy.
Had one 440 2 v70s 3 xc90s cant beat volvo just go forever
Looking forward to part 2
Great video yet again, I think I would do the door and sell it, looks a solid car M8
Swedish point and shoot ! Technology at its best !
These are built like tanks. Tough and rugged. Farmers love these especially on the moores where i live.
You've gone full on Arthur Daley mode trying to flog that motor.
Great video Lee something different
Great to hear... Retail all the way🎉🎉
Love that old Volvo, you will do alright out of that its been well maintained.
Great vid. I commented in December about making £700 off my first car sale. I have since sold 3 more for £900 profit, £1500 profit, and £2000 profit. Thanks for the motivation 🙏
Any vibration from the gearstick?
Got to be a retailer. Lovely old bus..
Thanks for taking us through your thinking Lee. Good decision to retail it. Question: who buys a load of spares for a car? Answer: someone who *loves* it and has already invested time and care in it. Every reason to think it will turn out good rather than bad 👍Doesn't seem too clear why he wanted to px it? People's circumstances do, of course, change. No one knows what's round the corner.
The last of the Swedish tanks - built like a bunker. Had a 2003 V70R AWD. The first of many Volvos, because that thing was simply brilliant. Would take that thing off you for my eldest who lives fairly nearby (with a 1.25 Zetec Fiesta if you wanna get a little hatch back in to get everything back in balance). Good to hear the handbrake shoes have been checked/adjusted - they can stick on and demolish the hub.
What a lovely car, will be interesting to see how it goes on the pitch, I'm thinking it will sell quickly. Looking forward to see how things progress.
Had the v70s and other Volvos and loved them. Always wanted a 262 Thor and nearly had one when I worked in Honda dealership. Pity I need a wav now or I would be very interested. Best wishes
What a bargain fair play
Lay the seats down and put some curtains on it and you could start up on the old funeral business.😃
That’s a lot of car even for 2.5k the interior is much more luxurious than the newer Volvos. Great choice in retailing it and keeping it on the road. It will do at least 200-300k in mileage even at that age. Mind you my initial gut reaction was for you to stick to yours guns and keep the same strategy that you have had up till now - pass it on as trade. Safest option. But with that history and all the parts it’s worth the risk. P.s if it were me , I would do all the bodywork to make it more saleable.
Lee that's a proper bobby dazzler for a 20 year old vehicle!!!...👏🏻👏🏻 Great business on your part taking it in on P/X and you can't lose on it...👏🏻👏🏻
Beltin cars, cracking engine but don't forget that rear quarer damage
Thars an absolute Bobby Dazzler 😬 I love a big old auto barge and the Volvo certainly fits that description. One of those is on my bucket list.
My dad had a 2006 S60 2.4D auto from new for 9 years and what a car! He now has a 2017 V40 Cross Country and although its nice, it doesnt have the same presence.
It sounds like an excellent clean and well looked after example, that will fly out the gates I think!
Excellent old cars that go on forever ,even if you don't retail it would make a good tip run car or dog walking car for some on , good luck Lee will watch the updates
Take the oil cap off put a rubber glove over it run engine to check the PCVentilation Haldex same as vw done the bushes with a big vice top tip is hold the read button on the left stalk blip the rear fog lamp twice and if you time it right you should reveal the DTC Faults In The Dash
It's been cared for and recently serviced with parts handed on to fit . Retail it. Unless the new owner is abusive there are years left in it
Must Say Had One Of The Best Sound Systems Though Great Subwoofer Up In The Dash Miss That Get Into The Hidden Goodies In The HU-803 Sweet
Nice one Lee I wud Retail it they are pretty bullet proof and with the history don’t think you can go wrong have a Top week Lee 🙂🔧🎥✌️
My old car was like that when I part exchanged it for £500, properly well looked after with full service history, 143000 miles, should have kept it 😭
An interesting prospect, it'll be very interesting to see how it scrubs up and performs for you price wise.
Go for it Lee 😊
Sit on it for while Lee no not the gear stick lol spring is around the corner caravaners would love it brilliant tow car cracking podcast by the way
love the D5 engine, one thing i would do is get it up on the ramp and see if the 4 wheel drive system is working and if not working it's not such a cheap repair.....been there when i had a S60R .must be good cars as a mechanic friend of mine has had one for years
Lee that Volvo looks a beauty. There must be some money in it for you 🙏🤞
You look funny in that old volvo. It suits you. Keep it.
Definitely a good choice to retail that, looks loads of life left in it, personally id leave door top and do the dent instead. ( i know you know best) 😁Cant wait to see the progress on this Lee.
My old '06 XC90 D5 soldiers on, just coming up to 190k miles😊
I am currently running a 2005 Ocean Race edition and have put 30K on the clock in 18 months and moved house 3 times in it. it is now at 190k and feels fine! Serviced and maintained properly. 44mpg and 650 miles out of a tank. I love the Surround sound system in it with built in Sub on the Dash but hate that a pair of front tyres only last 5-7k. It also gets looks as it is a rare Indigo Blue Color. It now resides with me in Northern Ireland.I might sell it for a P3 next year?
Owatrol is a really good plastic renovation product as used by James on chops garage
I had a 59 Plate from new as a company car, ran it for 4 years and it was brilliant, most comfy car I have driven, was replaced with a BMW 5 series, not as comfy but handled really well, recently drove a loner 22 plate XC90, bag of spanners, terrible car
Well done on that one , a follow up would be great 😁😁😁
Will do
A decent Volvo with history, i’d buy it 😊
In a heartbeat. That's a real car.
Belt being done is a big bonus, and sounds like engine and box running really well, just a few cosmetic bits which you'd expect on a 20 Yr old car.i think that'll make a good workhorse car for someone.
I don't know why you are hesitating, it's got to be retail sale, it will still be around in 10 years time, they are that good.
For faded plastics try Owatron oil - rub it in and they come up a treat
Polo shirt and shorts? When was this filmed or was there heatwave in Crewe last week? lol
Hope this works out Lee. It's the perfect adventure car. Take your bike, camping stuff into the wilds, park it up and know you've not left a big expensive theft target behind.
Send it on through the trade and make a quick drink. It's an enthusiasts car at that age, but in 2024 commercially speaking its imo a no-no. I wouldn't want to have to stand behind it for 3 months with the kind of issues it could throw up. You'd end up giving the customer their money back cos it'd wipe your margin. Your business model is successful for a reason. Don't get involved.
I love this car.
The owner should have kept that Volvo they will regret selling that car. I own a 2001 V70 2.4 non turbo. They are great running cars.
XC Volvos were the best.
I can see the Maseratti having a Break or rest and this being the New Garage Car lol. Nice Car Lee
@@liamegan4303 ha thats funny. Forget about the trade smoker Ghibli diesel. A trader around this bit Cheshire I trade also has a Ghibli smoker ( blue )
What a car that is, I don't and I mean I really don't need a car like that but I want it lol. You're doing right on the face of it before getting it on the ramp, still time to bow out though but that is a good car.
Nice interior i couldn't stand the later volvo interior with that panel.with a gap behind that they used for ages put me off buying one.
Keep it and use it yourself, nice straight foward diesel with 4wd will be like hens teeth in a year or two
That is a loved car and your excitement was plain to see. A boot full of spares - how often do you see that? Agree it’s not your usual fare but it will be interesting to see how you get on. The right buyer is out there.
Looks a good car
I'd be interested in that car. I've been wanting to change to a bigger car from my small automatic which I know small autos are the hot sellers atm.
I would be interested Lee can you let me know what you are doing with the Volvo I need a towing car
