I'm on the fence whether to go March this season as well! How plentiful were the penguins when you went? Most people are saying it will be empty nested in most colonies by March.... and the red ice is the algae is that right? Do you feel that March has any distinct advantage compared to say Feb (did it feel like way less ships or a dramatic change in scenery or wildlife?)?
@@jww1022 I’m not sure if there is a big difference from Feb to March however there were a lot of penguins! And yes the red is algae which is such a cool natural phenomenon. There were little to no other ships. One cool thing about going in March is that is when the researchers are packing to go home since it’s the end of the summer season and I got to see that from the zodiac and sometimes they will go on the ship and chat with passengers, which would’ve been so cool to hear about their experience spending months researching in Antarctica.
