Such a likeable character.
Johnny has "crazy ass uncle" written all over him. I bet he's a blast to hang out with and talk about rock stories.
dude hes kool as hell watched him sing at a bar we got drunk
More like a "crazy ass auntie"
He is good guy. Funny funny. Hung out w him long time ago w family.
He's a very likeable person.

He should be in a bigger band. He’s still got a ton of energy, he’s a very underrated bass player and he’s got great backing vocals.
He was a paramedic for years and years
I ran into him years ago, after W.A.S.P. I walked into a Clarke gas station to pay, and there he was, the cashier, I asked him, what the fuck happened, he said "I took too many pills , Blackie took the mills and left to the hills and I have to pay my bills"
I totally agree. He is a DAMNED GREAT BASS PLAYER! Very underrated!
I 👍..
@Volk Revel Hell no, Blackie has no heart at all.
This guy is a legend. A real, genuine nice guy who loves his music.
"It's not W.A.S.P. any more. It's the Blackie Lawless show."
Ya know, I have to agree with him. They're playing the same "music" but it's not the same sound or the same soul. Gotta love his character, "We're old, let it go, let bygone's be bygones." ie: make the most of the time you have in this life, and don't take yourself so seriously. Love it.
I cannot see any band, with this guy in it, failing, period! He's that "dude" who loses track of time, wakes up "after a long tour" and it's 30 yrs. later! He's everything an 80's era rock star should be 30 years later...... He's so positive, I say give em a reality show, driving an ice cream truck, and playing gigs at night! I would love to go fishing with him, or just hang out for a day. IDK how I wound up watching this, but I'm happy I did!
Jim Loeffert amen brother
The world needs more bass players like Johny Rod. He is a great guy too
and like Cliff from ac/dc)
@@voleraabriganov550Cliff was my biggest inspiration for starting to play bass! Very humble man and a helluva bassist! Johnny Rod is awesome too!
How not to love this guy???? He's still real after an eternity!!!! Respect john Rod!!!
He still got that killer Johhny Rod look in his eyes. This man is a legend, should be hailed as Nikki Sixx or Rudy Sarzo. Johnny was part of the 80's bass attack along with Sarzo, Juan Croucier.
yes he is right up there with Nikki Sixx isn't he
Rudy Sarzo is a beast! Johnny Rod was up there with Sarzo, Sheehan, Hill, Burton. For sure.
I always thought he was very underrated as a bass player, and that canary yellow B.C. Rich Ironbird bass he played back in the day was one very cool instrument.
How can you not like this guy! lol
Don't make em like they use to. Sincere dude who personifies the energy and character of the eighties rock scene.
You just have to love this crazy old boy . I love this interview so much. He have still his youthful spirit 😀
He's forever young, and that keeps him alive.
It would be great to have Johnny back in W.A.S.P.
That's a real musician
Johnny is hyped up. Could you imagine being in a cross country road trip with Johnny and CC DeVille? 😳
this made me smile. and very scared at that idea. 😊
Hes fucking brilliant!! WASP was at another level with this Wildman.
Johnny Rod is true heavy metal. He has an amazing voice as well. Glad to see him using it.
This dude is so eccentric and fuckin high on life. I love it
Jeff Lotley he's such an awesome performer and makes time for his fans. I met him in 2011. Awesome guy!! And actually talks to his fans. way cool ✌
Johnny Rod is still nuts!! Haha! RockStar 🤘🏻🤘🏻
This dude is a legend! Old but, still having much fun!
Gravidade Estudio a legend? That's a stretch. A big stretch.
You're awesome, Johnny. Your singing is great too.
This guy is awesomely nuts!
I love Johnny Rod. He is straight up and honest. I met this guy at The Marquee Club in London at a ‘secret’ W.A.S.P. show two nights before their 1992 Donnington Monsters of Rock show, and he was the best famous guy ever, where most famous people can be douchebags when you meet them, but Johnny Rod stayed with my friend and I and we sat on the stage together and talked and got photo’s too, and he was so super cool and so friendly and naturally funny too, it was the best experience of our lives, and we left the show happier even than after the Donnington show.
Donington not Donnington
Andrew Furniss alright smarty pants 👖.
Great story! Was there in 92 also. Maiden awesome. Monsters of rock sorely missed. Download lost the magic...in my opinion of course. 1 day 1 show.
Johnny Rod is correct to say that it's not WASP anymore. It's the Blackie Lawless show. I'm glad he has a positive attitude
Back again in 2019 :) I friggin love this guy. A real, original rocker.
Some peopel just make you happy. Johnny Rod make me happy. Energic, funny, happy and really care abaut the fans👍
Excellent interview, honest and real, a true rock star, talks straight with plenty of energy and passion, and a bloody great bass player....W.A.S.P are my fav band ever, and he was one of the originals...I once messaged him on Twitter, and he replied immediately....Love the guy.
Energy. Intensity. Blackie handed over the bass to the right guy 🍺
Amen
Johnny you are awesome! Keep the momentum. I miss seeing you guys!
Coo to see Johnny rod still rocking, reunion be badass.....
Songwriters best friend, understands to play for the song, perfection!
It Would be amazing to see a reunion sometime johnny rods bass rocks.
Dude, be honest, he is a sloppy bass player.
@@erikblazen9512 sloppy or not , everyone going crazy on stage is sloppy , but he has a thing called "the groove" that is better than robotic perfection of the shit on the radio today
@@erikblazen9512 Sloppy ore not. He have his own style and i think that count alot.
W.A.S.P need you back man Awesome 🤘🤘🤘
Love this guy. Cheers!!
The 86 KISS/King Kobra tour was my first concert April fools day Bethelhem Pennsylvania Stabler Arena, I was 8 years old.
What a fucking great guy. Saw him first time in the eighties in Zürich, great show cool guy live long and keep on rockin'
How cool would it be to have Johnny, Holmes and Riley back in Wasp. Epic, just epic. Life is too short.
Johnny you are my best Wasp member ever!
Love Johnny Rod. Great energy! Would love to see him play with Chris now. YES WASP should do a reunion.
6:19 lol
Johnny is fucking great, loved King Kobra when Ready to Strike came out I was cranking it up around the clock for months. So glad I got to see him live with WASP in Germany opening for Iron Maiden. Got to live the greatest days of music and not deal with the garbage we have to hear today.
Cool man! I would like to attend a concert with his participation and listen to his stories from the 80s.
Johnny you are awesome dude you wood be a blast to hing out with. I miss you being with W.AS.P.
When did Johnny Rod turn into Mikkey Dee?
ZachAttack84 lmfao....
ROTFLMFAO
ZachAttack84 I was just thinking that exact same thing!!! Comment of the year right there!!!
Lol.
Я тоже так подумал)))) hello from Russia
Yea would love to that W.A.S.P re union.
wouldnot be with him he not original bassiest
Razor Roberts, well he ain't from the day1 line up but he was in W.A.S.P from the circus till crimson so in my opinion an integral member of the blackie n Chris homes W.A.S.P
Duggy Dee 86-89 and 92-93. I've heard Blackie's a bit of a dick that's why w.a.s.p. Go through so many members
Razor Roberts the original bass player was blackie and id assume blackie would want to play guitar if he went through with the concept of a reunion tour so in theory Johnny would play bass.
Wasp is alive and well. They work in Europe and South America rather exclusively. Rock and Metal in the US is dead.. No way to make a living here anymore unfortunately.
That was great. Always loved ELECTRIC CIRCUS. Seems like a fun nice fella
If you notice, he got the WASP logo on shoulder. Johnny rod for me was a big part of the show Up until his departure sometime after the Crimson Idol tour ended, I hope before WASP calls it quits,Chris, Blackie & Jonny play a show together
Johnny seems really nice. Great attitude. I was a wasp fan. Still am
What a character, love to have a beer with this guy.
I love this guy!!!!! He is doing it right
I genuinely like this dude💪
I love his energy.
He has been on so.e great albums. I love King Kobra and WASP.
The “reunion” sounds like a splendid idea!!
A wasp reunion with Jonny and Chris in the line up would be massive.. they would fill every arena around. This needs to become a reality.
They have a cult following, but they are not that popular to fill an Arena in NA as a headliner.
One of the best bass players through all the years. And hear what he says: It is the truth. What a cool guy you are, Johnny ! Genuine funny and energetic ... only intelligent beings have that !
I love his attitude, Johnny Rod is the bomb !!
Saw him with King Kobra opening for Queensryche at the Hollywood Palladium in 1985. One of the best shows I ever went to. King Kobra was awesome. So was Queensryche, they played the entire Warning album as well as the EP.
Johnny is a great bass player and Chris Holmes is a talented guitarist I would love to see W.A.S.P with them and Steve Riley on drums it would be the best band live. I know because I seen the Electric Circus tour and it was rockin'
Cool interview. Johnny Rod is a trip so much energy and genuine love of music likable guy for sure. I would also love to see a W.A.S.P. show again with Johnny and Chris.
Wow what a legend!!! loved the energy n grit n stage presence he bought to w.a.s.p. ! This guy is the reason I started playing bass guitar in the first place ... 🎸saw em live in 2011 just wish I’d seen em back when lawless, holmes, rod n Riley was the line up 😔.....
He's got great enthusiasm and is a real rocker.👌
Always knew this guy was awesome!
He suggested to blackie that they reunite, then tries to convince him by playing a song that Blackie will no longer play. Lmao
That must’ve been Fuck like a beast
@@davidsmythe7645 yeah theres like 4 songs he wont do amymore. And he wont play in the US ever again. He makes way more money and gets much bigger venues in Europe.
Last time I saw W.A.S.P was in 2008... never came back to LA after that, but i would really love to see a reunion.
He did it in purpose too
The original four from the first album should do a final WASP tour and send it off in proper form. We all know that'll never happen.
He seems like a cool guy
Johnny still the man
Mega cool guy !
Absolutly agree
Man,I love Johnny Rod.
Johnny's backing vocals on #HEADLESS still sounds awesome in 2017 #WTG \m/
Johnnys voice compliments Blackies voice. Their voices fitted so well together. ☺
Love the attitude and energy this guy brings. Seems like the kinda guy you could hang with, have a few beers, and have a great time.
He played on WASP's 'Headless Children"..one of my top 20 all time fav metal albums.
What a great interview I always wondered what happened to him
He was a paramedic for awhile ☺
such an enthusiasm for life! what else is there? that's great
I LOVE IT! I got to meet Johny Rod back stage at a concert when he was in King Kobra years ago in Columbus, OH. He was a rock star back then and still today!
W.A.S.P. will always be no. 1 band of all time, LOVE johnny rod. God BLESS THEM.
Johnny was one of the wildest bass players I ever saw live. Monster bass player.
What a cool guy :)
Someone I would totally enjoy hanging out with. Appreciate you Johnny :)
Chris Pelletier in Philly .
Great interview I'm glad to see he's doing great and a reunion would be awesome I posted this on my Blackie Lawless Facebook fanpage 116,000 followers
Love this guy, his enthusiasm is infectious.
That’s awesome!
He's wearing a Chris Holmes shirt.
This dude rules.
I love these kind of musicians. They are so real. They are like blue collar types. These guys had a real work ethic. Had a blast making this music.
OMG! It just hit me that he's wearing a Chris Holmes t-shirt! What a great guy!
Johnny is so enthusiastic & totally bonkers at the same time... a wasp reunion would be great but seems unlikely to happen as Chris Holmes already said he wouldn't ever go back...
This guy nails it in the 1st minute.....Awesome
That was great! Luv the Energy....\m/
best interview of anybody ever ! this guy's energy is contageous!
Hey Johnny Rod... Saw you Live in Hays ks in 85 when u were in King Kobra... Holy Cow I loved Ready to Strike and still do.. In my CD player right now..you all opened for Autograph.. What a great concert..CHEERS..
I'd love to sit and listen to Johnny and Ace Frehley joke around. Their laughs are contagious!
Man you are great! Rock on Johnny Rod!!
One amazing musician full of energy
Great picks of KISS i hadnt seen!!!!
One of my favorite bassists. Dude still has the passion for music after all the years, the ups and downs. He's like a kid excited he just learned his first lick and it's a contagious energy. I was glad Blackie moved to lead because it left the bass position open to doing more without having to carry vocals as well. Enter Johnny Rod.
It's funny that he mentions KISS as such a big influence. Blackie seemed to be more about 'business' and theatrics like Gene was, than about the music. Hyper aware of 'the brand' of the band. The party guys clash with people like that- Ace and Peter in KISS, Johnny and Chris in WASP.
I agree with you but Blackie never moved to lead guitar. He played rhythm guitar.
Mad as a balloon 😂 fantastic
Super cool dude
Blackie needs you back! :)
Still the same, a great musician and a good storyteller as well.))
As soon as he said "you play for the song", I knew I liked him. I've said that for decades. Love this guys energy.
Cool KISS stories, gotta love Johnny's energy. He hasn't changed at all, he's a real one.
