"Growing old is inevitable man, growing up is an option!" (C) Johnny Rod 2021
Such a great quote! Words to live by
@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen Totally agree!
Great quote

Johnny is looking GREAT! Wow, he’s really got into shape! Johnny is awesome. About 10 years ago, I was talking to him on his Facebook. It was my birthday and he had me give him my number and said he’d call me. No shit, he called me and we chatted for a long time. I couldn’t believe it. Super cool guy.
do you know if he still uses facebook?
@@user-fi3cz2ij4e I have no idea. I deleted my Facebook a while ago.
What a Birthday Gift !! Good for you , Dude !! That's so cool. Did you and Johnny just chat about every day things ? Like family topics , etc. ? Did you guys talk about Music ? I'd never be lucky enough for something like that to happen to me. But anyway , have a great day and stay safe. 🎸
@@RikJSmith yeah it was the coolest thing. He just talked about everyday things and life. When he called he said he was cruising around Vegas in his car. He talked a bit about music. Very friendly. It was a very cool experience for sure. Guess it was just my lucky day. Lol
he was ever that coool guy and joking in every interview he Did,Johny you are a last unicorn😁🤘🦅
Great interview, damn man Johnny is still a ball of energy- holy shit.
That he is
The Headless Children is AMAZING and to this day is still imo one of the best metal album ever made.
That energy and laugh is so infectious :)
Johnny's energy is infectious! His vocals are really strong, great voice. Glad to see he's doing well
Это дааа!!!🤟
Yeah that show at Donington they showed on Mtv where they're trading vocal part is sooooo good!
Johnny is awesome!!!! I love both W.A.S.P. and King Kobra!!!!
He’s definitely part of two great bands
That guy has a great attitude. Hope to hear his new music.
1.) That ceiling fan is awesome. 2.) Johnny Rod seems like a great guy - but exhausting. 3.) He’s a terrific bass player. 4.) Inside the Electric Circus and The Headless Children were the last WASP records I bought. Both were better than The Last Command but can’t touch the debut album. 5.) He seems smart and talented, so I’m guessing he was a really good paramedic who had taken the job seriously..
I agree. Josh Silver from Type O Negative has been a paramedic now for at least 10 years.
Ready to Strike is one of the most criminally underrated records of all time. Killer songs, killer guitar work from David "Michael Phillips" Henzerling and Mick Sweda, killer drums from Carmine Appice, killer vocals from Mark (now Marcie) Free, and of course, killer thunderous bass of Johnny Rod! That record definitely deserves more praise than it has gotten over the years. A huge influence on me as a musican, personally, as well.
I recently got a promo version of that LP. Love it. It absolutely rocks. The band was so talented.
Of everything in this interview, I fell in love with Johnny's ceiling fan! So Cool!
Man, one of the best interviews I've seen in a long time. The last interview I saw with Johnny he looked like shit and was kinda sad, but man he looks great now. I could watch this for hours... Miss his WASP days
Awsome Interview.

Hi Rob
I’m glad you liked it, he definitely looks better.
Appreciate the subscription
Nice!!! Love Jonny Rod. Live with Wasp singing backing vocals was awesome.
Good Call!!
What a great interview Johnny’s Energy is amazing.Looking forward to more music from his band
I’m glad you liked it!
Thanks for watching
God damn your fuck'n beautiful Blue!
@@charliemckillip8983 why thanks so much
WOW YOU ARE A GOOD LOOKING WOMAN, GOD DOESNT MAKE WOMEN THAT PRETTY ALL THE TIME!
He's like a breath of fresh air, ha ha. Love the first King Kobra, what an album. Saw WASP 1984 in Germany (small club in Frankfurt), and love their work until The Crimson Idol.
Nice! Johnny is a cool guy & definitely a character
I really liked King Kobra, that band has an all-star lineup on those first two records. Johnny Rod seems like a very cool and humble guy. I’ll be waiting all weekend to see this.
He is still as vibrant today as he was back in the 80's. I saw KK open up for Kiss in Battle Creek Kellogg center. It blew my mind. The opening band was suppose to be Black N Blue but changed at the last minute. I am going to steal the "Growing old is inevitable but growing up is optional" Johnny Rod!
Wow, you can tell that Johnny is a great guy! Never realized what a great player he is. His bass playing on The Real Me is fantastic. He has such an infectious energy! I saw them on The Headless Children tour with support from Metal Church and Accept. They crushed it that night!🤘🏻
Johnny and Ace Frehley have the best laughs in rock. Great to see he's doing well and I will definitely be looking out for the Rodryan music.
Man I miss this guy! Was fortunate enough to get to tour with him. Great dude, and hell of a musician. We really hooked up the rhythm section for the band we were playing in together. One of the most kind, funny, and hell of a friend. He is one of the cool kids. He beat my drum kit all to hell on the regular. Haha! Knocked cymbals over from hitting them with his hands. The stage is where this guy belongs forever. Great showman and one of the best and funnest bass players I e had the pleasure to jam with.
Keep rockin J Rod.
Twig, or as he calls me (Twix) hahahahaa
🤘🤘❤️
I saw WASP in LA at the Santa Monica Civic Center on the Headless Children Tour and man, I will never forget it!! Just fantastic and shredded. Frankie was ON FIRE as was the whole band.
Love this man, loved when he Joined W,A,S,P he was a a kick A** bassist loved when Blackie turned to the guitar instead of bass, that was unique and loved it. Johnny Rod can do anything he wants, he deserves it
hard working brother but what is his next adventure? love him or hate him he kicks total A** wherever he goes
HEAVY METAL ETERNAL, Amen
I saw Wasp with Johnny two nights running on Headless Children tour ‘89 (Portsmouth and Poole, UK) and they were Awesome - I was front row, the sheer power coming off the stage and into our faces was so intense, like an explosion 💥 Total Heavy Metal as it should be !!
Was lucky enough to see WASP when Johnny Rod was in the band .......brilliant show 🤘
Damn, he's such a cool dude, its rare to see a person of his age with that amount of energy. Looks like he lost allot of weight since that Duke TV interview 3 years ago, nice.
He looks like he's in great shape now. Good for him
Great conversation with Johnny! I remember seeing him tear up the stage on the electric circus tour. He brought a lot to WASP
Great interview Jason. If Blackie won't reunite with these guys, then Johnny Rod should make a record with Chris Holmes, Steve Riley and (with or without) Randy Piper. Follow that up with some shows. Looks like Johnny is still very capable of handling lead vocals and the energy is there lol.
I tried to put this together in Vegas several times, the closest I got was Holmes and piper and piper and Riley, Johnny was a little unpredictable at the time. I had Jizzy pearl sing
@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen that's a damn good start. let's hope the reopening of shows over the next year will light enough of a fire under their asses to get it done. Enough of the Sunbomb-type cash grab throwaway nonsense out there. They should unite and write.
I fuckin' love this dude!
Looking forward to this one for sure.
One of my favorite bass players. Solid player and one hell of a character.
I really liked this - Thanks
Love the interview just amazing 💜💜
That was so enjoyable, Thankyou 👏👏👏
Big Johnny fan. Thanks for posting.
He's a very likeable and funny guy....never slags anybody off at all..
Great interview Jason! I missed the premiere, but I caught up!
The HUNGER video from the first KK album was epic. Those guitars were just awesome.
Another great interview Jason. I'm huge Johnny rod fan .
Brilliant interview, Really love Johnny Rod, such a down to earth guy
That was so awesome

Just came across this one! Great interview! Never thought I would get a Mercy Me mention out of Johnny Rod. Very cool!
Look forward to hearing Rodryan, good to meet Tim and like the attitude toward music. Thanks for sharing.
Just stumbled onto your channel and subscribed because of how good this interview is. Great job & great questions for Johnny 👍.
Terrific interview, thank you Mr Green. One thing i couldn’t understand is why he didn’t play on Crimson Idol but he did tour for it. Great channel.
HI Jason - I don't know when I first saw one of your videos, but I've been hooked ever since. Love this one!! Mr brother and I saw WASP about 2 years ago in England and Blackie still has that fire! As does Johnny - great interview again and keep up the good work !!!
I enjoy Johnny's personality so much! I'm so glad and happy he's doing good and that he's the same as always and as great as ever! Hope he does more interviews.
Absolutely Love this interview. Johnny is an Amazing Bass Player.
Great interview Jason, johnny is such a trip... enjoyed listening to him tell his stories, if he wrote a book I'd buy it....
Great interviews brother
Thanks Dean! Glad you liked it
Thank you Jason and Johnny for a killer interview. What memories this brought back. I remember seeing Iron Eagle in a little movie theater in El Centro, CA with my brother and cousins and shopping for metal records at a nearby record store. I think I bought an issue of Guitar For The Practicing Musician with Vinnie Moore on the cover. Later, my cousin introduced me to King Kobra and then we started listening to WASP.
Great chat. I saw W.A.S.P. on the Electric Circus tour at the Minneapolis Orpheum. Slayer and Raven opened. What a show.
What an awesome person- love this interview. And Paul is one of my favorite vocalist- looking forward seeing that video . That first Rough Cutt album is killer.
Johnny rod is a real breath of fresh air, seen him first time on inside the electric circus tour, 86 in Belfast, still best show i have ever seen, salute
Cool interview! I saw the show at Sweden Rock Festival, seeing Johnny jumping all over the stage! =) Great stuff! Would have loved to see Marcie Free on that show though.
He's awesome. I first noticed his bass playing on 'The Real Me' , he is definitely one of my favorites. I never really watched an interview with him though until now, I love his energy!
Awesome interview brother, I love johnny he's a real guy and a class act🤘🤘🤘
That was a great vocal delivery right out of the gate!! Ha! Right on 🤘🏻 from St. Louis, Missouri.
I love Johnny Rod! Thank you for this interview!
He did not play on The Crimson Idol, but was the bass player for all of that tour+TV appearances (except for the Chainsaw Charlie on Top of the Pops)
Johnny Rod is a total fuckin Rockstar! And a Legend!
Another great interview Jason!!!
Thank you!
What a treat to hear from JOHNNY ROD..excellent musician. Master of his instrument.. JOHNNY ROD IS A CLASS ACT...]
He kinda looks like Mikkey Dee.
Johnny Rod. Shout out from PITTSBURGH Pennsylvania. Born AND bread. Great interview....👋👍
Only the 80's rock/metal scene could produce someone like Johnny Rod 😊 Cool interview. Wish he'd do more
Great interview. I’d love to meet Johnny I saw him play with Wasp back in England on the headless children tour. Freakin awesome show.
Jason, I've just found your channel and I think it's fantastic. Seriously mate, if you carry on releasing regular content and maybe get your own studio space I can easily seeing you getting to around the 100,000 subscriber mark. Alot of potential in your content man.
Loved King Kobra what a an awesome band!!
So glad Johnny is doing ok these days. This was a thrill, great interview! I couldn’t keep up with him in a conversation, LOL! 😂🎧
Love Johnny. Looking and sounding better then ever.
I'm not even a big fan of wasp... Just came across this interview. What a guy! Full of energy and loving life. And a rocking bassist. Very inspiring!

Fun interview. Johnny is great. Jeez Jason you do pretty good keeping the train from going off the rails! Haha.
Johnny Rod is so underrated as a musician.
I was fortunate to have met Johnny during the Kobra days... We had a great hang at Cardi's in Space City & met up again at Astroworld the next night...
Jason, you have the most enjoyable interviews; now do a Marcie Free interview (please??)
Thank you Michelle, I’m looking into, but I think she might be laying out of the public eye right now
That would be awesome if he would interview marcie free .and asking about king Kobra.
@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen i like unruly child, i didnt know she was in king cobra
Marcie have a bit changed from the other side since
@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen i was messaging Marcie the other day...she still makes videos on youtube...plus Unruly Child had new album out in Dec last year..i think it was
Can you get those "Thrill of a Lifetime" Demo's???
Great interiew!! Always great to see Rod tell stories!! .... Jason Green, why did you skipped the Crimson Idol part? Mentioned all the albums and tours but went from Headless Children to King Cobra reunion. We wanna know about the Crimson Idol Tour with Donington as highlight I guess:-) Dont get me wrong, the interview was great!!! Cheers from Holland
It was just an oversight on my part
This should be great! 😎
can't wait to hear johnny
Johnny Rocks!
I was playin in a biker bar outside of St. Louis and turned around to find Johnny sitting in on Stanglehold. Man that guy is a ball of energy…. It was a joy to jam with him!
This is still a ball of energy. How no one's took him out is mind-boggling. Great spirit...no fucks givin'!
Saw Johnny in a Band Called Geranamo, they opened up for Bonham in Fresno Calif. and Blacky was at the mixer board. Great show. Was wondering if they recorded any demos
Where at the Wilson theater the warners theatre rainbow ball room seland arena?
Killer...Thankyou
Johnny lives in St.Louis MO. & i live in Granite City ILL which is only 15 minutes from down town St.Louis. I had the honor of hangin with Johnny one evening a couple years ago when Enuff Z Nuff did a free show here in Granite. That night....was a freakin blast!!
cool dude god bless him he looks good and in shape!!!!!
Johnny is a great dude
Jason, love the show brother! Ever try to get Vitto Bratta on the show?
Seems like a great guy. As a bassist I think his tone & playing is great. Loved King Kobra & wasp with him on bass. I’m from Buffalo N.Y I think mick Sweda is from my neck of the woods. Great job on the interviews you get some great musicians on.
lucky enuf to see wasp at donington monsters of rock and sfx hall in dublin around that time - gr8 gigs both of em
Awesome!
