This is her standout song. She sounded great in the movie as a whole, but this song made me cry. Her voice is near perfect, especially seeing she was 16 here.
Emmy Rossum is soooo beautiful. I mean...she captures so much emotion in her face, and when she sings it's just like arrghhhhhhhhh so beautiful. And when she sings from 2:33 onward I get constant chills. She was 16 years old when she got cast. That's incredible for a 16 year old, or any age for that matter!
Some songs help as coping mechanisms, and this song really does. It's sad, because the woman lost her father who she loved a lot, but it's hopeful as well and she wants to be strong and move on. She's acknowledging her sadness but knows she wants to keep living. This song always reminds me of my grandpa. Thank you for uploading this!
the monkey box was left by now elderly husband Raoul. However, the rose and the ring that were already on the gravestone were left by the phantom, showing that he too has continued to love her his whole life.
In my personal opinion, I like this version of the song better than Sierra's. Sierra has a lovely voice and power when she sings, but I felt Emmy's was more personal. It sounded more to me like a daughter mourning over her father whom she loved dearly. The gentleness, the sweetness, the innocence, the desperation all seem more real to me. Sierra's felt more like a huge show, although it was done well. But then again, Sierra's was meant to be an anniversary.
I saw this live in Toronto when I was 12 years old and it was one of the most exhilerating moments of my entire life. Completely filled with amazement, still does it to me everytime I watch it.
"wishing i could here your voice again, knowing that i never would" i feel the same about my nan and grandad:/ my grandads last words to me were "bye, i love you" makes me cry everytime i think of that:'( i love this song so much! because it's like im telling it myself. it relates so much to me. so thankyou:)
So glad to be a happy "stupid" "dumb" "ignorant" movie buff with this timeless film that all can cherish and enjoy whenever we want without being biased by Broadway and theatre and it's 100+ versions of the original musical Emmy and Gerard are our Christine and Phantom... deal with it!
I dunno. I was a 11 year-old boy who loved it, and still love it for 8 long years. Does that seems suitable for an awnser? But i believe we are weird, somehow. In a better meaning of it.
I watched this movie for the first time last night, i cried a little then afterwards i find out my best friend has fallen in love with my boyfriend... so now i keep listening to these songs over and over... especially all i ask of you...
I saw this show in New York over 20 years ago, and there was most definitely no children by the phantom in the performance I saw. This movie was a pretty faithful adaptation of the broadway musical to my recollection.
When I was little I would skip this part because I thought it was boring, now I watch it and start tearing up. I want to play this part just so I can sing this song
Sometimes I sing this sing and think about the first person I fell in love with. Not long after realizing that I loved them they told me to never speak to them again.
The song is about sorrow and the inability to let go of a lost loved one. Weeping angels are very appropiate. One needs to have experienced this kind of pain to comprehend it's meaning. Hopefully an older person ... however, loss can come at any age. So let your words always be kind. No one is guarenteed tomorrow.
Perfect...I was filled with The Angels take Manhattan emotions and suddenly this song popped into my head. Now I can't listen to it without being overwhelmed by the feels! "Passings bells and sculpted angels Cold and monumental Seem for you the wrong companions You were warm and gentle" ...I blame Moffat for everything.
Doing this song for a talent show, but Emmy sets the standards too high for me to reach-3 she was the perfect Christine and Gerard was the perfect Christine. ALW knew what he was doing when he chose this cast. Amazing.
emmy really sang this beautifully whoever's her voice coach needa pat themselves on the back cuz this performance is a marvel she really hit every note

Emmy can still sing. and it's a MOVIE, not a stage play. they are both talented in their own right.
She was 16 when she played Christine... production started in 2002, movie released just before she turned 18... makes her even more incredible, yes?

I remember having this song on repeat for months and crying my eyes when I was 11 and my grandfather died. It sums up our relationship perfectly.
Her voice is just so beautiful. It goes perfectly with Gerard's voice when they sing together. I think they cast them perfectly.
the monkey box was left by now elderly husband Raoul. However, the rose and the ring that were already on the gravestone were left by the phantom, showing that he too has continued to love her his whole life.
All the songs in this movie give me chills. So beautiful.
This was my Dad's and I favorite movie. Now I dedicate this song to him. RIP Daddy.
I can't believe Emmy was only 16 when she performed this... she is amazing! Stupefying, breathtaking, spectacular!

I love her voice and this song
I saw this live in Toronto when I was 12 years old and it was one of the most exhilerating moments of my entire life. Completely filled with amazement, still does it to me everytime I watch it.
She has the most amazing voice! Truly sounds like some kind of an angel...I love you, Emmy Rossum!

This song is so beautiful, the emotion this character portrays in this song is simply haunting. I get chills at times, this is so pretty. :)
Am I the only one freaking out about the weeping angels......
I dunno. I was a 11 year-old boy who loved it, and still love it for 8 long years. Does that seems suitable for an awnser?

Missing my dad so much on Father's Day. Anyone know how I feel?
I just watched the movie again after a year and still cried buckets. Perfectly cast. Brilliant!
I saw this show in New York over 20 years ago, and there was most definitely no children by the phantom in the performance I saw. This movie was a pretty faithful adaptation of the broadway musical to my recollection.
Love this show. Saw it 6 years ago and going back to see it again this year. One of the best songs in it too!

"Sometimes it seems if I just dreamed Somehow you'd be here" . . . :(

this song always gives me chills!
when I pass away I would love to have this song sang at my funeral
Is it just me who gets chills from all the angels...weeping angels?
Ok since I heard this beautiful woman singing, I truly believe in angels...
When I was little I would skip this part because I thought it was boring, now I watch it and start tearing up. I want to play this part just so I can sing this song
yeah, no, that's okay, I didn't need my heart anyway.
im 11 and my sister is 13 we loved this movie for ever and my sis is obsessed with it
GUYS. it's not about what she's wearing.. it's about the song, the epicness of this musical and film.. DAMN IT,.
Sometimes I sing this sing and think about the first person I fell in love with. Not long after realizing that I loved them they told me to never speak to them again.
anyone else find it symbiotic that Raoul is wearing all white (and on a white horse) and the phantom all black
Emmy Rossum with Sierra Boggess are my favourite singers

I love this song...so moving...
i still cant believe emmy was only 16 during this movie! she has such an amazing voice
*Sigh*...Not scared of weeping angles. *Blinks*. See? Nothing. Now listen to the epicness of Phantom of the Opera.
When I visited my fathers grave last month during All Saints' Day to light a candle I had this song in my mind.
Wow I cant believe Emmy was the youngest woman 2 play Christine when she was 18
oh my god she is soooooooooooooo beautiful
I wish I could sing like her... ._.

Perfect...I was filled with The Angels take Manhattan emotions and suddenly this song popped into my head. Now I can't listen to it without being overwhelmed by the feels!
