Ok so I'm not from the UK and I watched this without knowing he's blind. I thought he was doing pretty great for a pure dancing amateur. Knowing he can't even see... bloody heck. I'm just speechless. The guts of this guy for not just taking this on but rocking the heck out of it. Massive congrats to both Chris and Dianne!
He did some very advanced stuff (like at the very beginning when he caught her legs in the handstand and when he was swirling her and stepping over her) which is difficult to pull off even when you have full vision and normally contestants only start doing these things from week 3 onwards (with some exceptions). I was watching with my jaw on the floor, not gonna lie. Separate huge cred to Diane, because I have no clue how she managed to explain dance moves to someone who cannot see what she’s doing and repeat after her.

Best dance of the night, incredible! If you didn't know that Chris was blind, you wouldn't have been able to tell. I'm so excited to see their journey 😁 And Dianne...what an absolute pure superstar she is!
Must admit it made me shed lil tear of pride watching this Saturday! Love these two from previous work (Chris Scouser stand up comedy & Di Aussie Dancer UA-camr). Was lil worried but i needn't have! Good luck to them🎉

wowwowwow so ballsy for week 1 i wasn't expecting that at the end, it was so much fun and so well choreographed should I add aswell, posture and leg action went on holiday but performance great, timing great and partnering amazing. I really look forward to see what is coming next here! Chris is iconically unserious and just takes everything in his stride
I don’t care what happens, Chris, you’re the real winner, coming on here and performing like that, words don’t do justice! Hats off

@@MidlifeVices77 it’s the fact that he’s blind and doing this. This would be so much harder than you could imagine. Obviously he can’t see the choreography so the dancer had to move his body for him in training (which he has to remember by touch) and it would be so disorienting spinning around in darkness and still facing the right way etc. he’s had to work ten times harder than any of the other contestants. Good on him for giving it a go and nailing it.

absolutely Team Chris &Dianne.They shall go far .Dianne said a beautiful thing about Chris .He was sad he misses out on seeing other couples and she encouraged him beyond words .Then she sadly reflected she can't fully take on board that he has never seen her face .That brought a tear .He is amazing man and very funny .
This was honestly the best dance of the night, I found myself crying at the end of it, Dianne did so so well bless her & did the best at showing his personality through the dance. He nailed it! Love love this pairing! I see them going really far the people will definitely back them all the way & like Motsi said he was so confident dancing & being on the floor! He has my whole heart

How many of us shed a tear watching this?! I can't begin to imagine the dedication, time and practice that went into this. For Chris to familiarise himself with the space utilised & choreography. He was amazing. For all the bad press Strictly has recently recently garnered, one positive in recent years has been inclusively. He was phenomenal.

Flipping heck that was brilliant, had a massive grin on my face from the start! I completely forgot about Chris being blind until the end. It must've been so challenging for them to figure out a new way of learning/teaching to accommodate his blindness. Bloody well done!

I was screaming with joy at the tv. The highlight of the night. Not just good for a blind bloke, but BLOODY GOOD! They had my vote anyway but they've certainly got it now 😍
The best part is, his timing was great, his footwork was all there and he was always in place for the next move, Dianne you are a star... you got this man to shine on the dancefloor... I am sure he will never forget this....

I'm not in UK so I don't follow strictly, but I do follow uk comedians, uk panel shows and the like. I've laughed and liked Chris on everything I've seen him in. Did not think Strictly was the type of thing he'd be into, but seeing this makes me so glad he is there! That was an amazing performance!
It’s devastating that Chris can never see how good that was! What an amazing first dance full stop, let alone taking into account the fact he’s learnt it without being able to see what he’s doing.

That was awe inspiring. How the heck did he pull that off? Dianne needs to take a bow too because she had the most formidable task in teaching a blind person to dance. The fact that she's pulled it off is sensational!

When the VT started it just dawned on me that Chris has no way of seeing or visualising the steps he will need to perform. The mirrors in the training room are completely useless to him.
Tears was streaming down my face when I was watching this. This performance was the most joyful and humblest thing I've ever seen on Strictly - it actually rivals Rose's couple's choice. Dianne has elevated herself to Goddess status along with Katya and Oti with this routine!
They could've taken soooo many shortcuts and cheats to make a passable 1st week performance: He didn't have to actually lock his feet in the lock steps, he didn't have to actually attempt straight-leg action in the basic steps (almost nobody does that 1st week), he didn't have to make good use of the floor space or perform Cuban breaks and he most certainly didn't have to perform any tricks or lifts!!
But thank God Dianne kept her expectations sky high to produce this Strictly magic with Chris!
The biggest wow and surprise of the night. I felt nervous several times watching it, but this was amazing. Dianne is a great teacher and teaches confident students. This was great. Keep it up. Have a good day reader.
This was absolutely incredible! 🥺 for a guy who’s blind and can’t see a thing that was actually incredible! I give part credit to Dianne who somehow managed to get him to do that! 😊😊 I hope Chris is proud of himself for that cause we all are! ❤❤❤ if he continues like that throughout the series he might be one of my top 3 favourites cause that is a SKILL to have! ❤️
I was wondering how they would do this,I guess she's guiding him & communicating through the routine. I was wondering if he had an ear piece to help him aswell or something? To keep in time with the music & steps 🤔.
That was absolutely brilliant. The way that Chris ended up behind the microphone belied the fact that he is blind.

I rewatched it twice already. He is incredible, she is incredible as a teacher. Chris danced better than many contestants that have full vision, both in this series and previous ones. Legend! I will be rooting for this team all the way.
Anyone criticising Chris should maybe try blindfolding themselves and walking around their own home 😂😂 and then trying to dance 💃

So initially I was very concerned to see how it would look because I really didn't want him to be a comedy act. But wow, the fact he could do this was fantastic.
Chris and Diane were absolutely brilliant. My sons have RP so I know how difficult this must have been for Chris but he pulled it off with aplomb! Well done. Look forward to seeing them again next week.

I was jumping on my rebounder today (for exercise) and I thought I’d just see what it would be like doing it with my eyes closed and I nearly fell off every time so all credit to this guy cos this would be far harder than what we can even imagine.
I so so so massively proud of him!!!yes lad!!! Imagine having the courage to do that
I so want them to win but even if they don’t Diane has one regardless. She will have gained a new found empathy and understanding of people with disabilities and be able to walk away knowing she was an amazing and inspirational partner and teacher to a person with a disability.

Chris and Dianne are my favs this year! That was awesome. Dianne is a brilliant and innovative teacher. Love this pairing. Shame on Craig for judging so harshly, the worst judge on the panel, IMO. Proper judging should still be considerate and empathetic. At the end of the day, these are HUMAN NON-DANCERS. Be they elderly, Paralympians, amputees, or blind/visually-impaired folk, to expect perfection from them is ABSOLUTE MADNESS. It's a bloody TV show NOT a proper ballroom competition. In another universe, a blind Craig could only dream to be able to do half as good as Chris did!
