He won not after 25 years, he won Alola league after 22 years and later he become first-ever Alola champion. He is already was regional champion in this season. Battle against Leon is world championship finals. In this championship he beat Unova champion, Hoenn champion, Sinnoh champion and Galar champion
@@anwaransari1025 Because Orange islands is canon, but filler. Drake - Orange Islands champion is bullshit. You not become champion if beat Drake. Your photo just hang up in hall of fame. That's it
@@edik4907Orange Islands is an important arc for Ash, It’s where Ash meets Tracey, He catches Snorlax and It’s where Charizard starts to obey him. This also makes Ash becoming stronger
Know what has always bothered me about the first episode? Here it seems like Ash & Gary are meeting for the first time, but throughout the rest of the show they say the two of them had known each other long before it.
Ash was literally Thanos for the masters 8, in the kalos region an item called a mega stone could be found of which when held by certain pokemon could evolve into stronger forms. For instance charizard with a mega adding the dragon type to charizard aswell as removing the flying type. In the alola region certain guardian pokemon called totems protected an item called a z-crystal which allowed a pokemon to use a really strong move once. And here the dynamax band
Despite the last reply says, I think horizons is a very good story. It's not limited by the "gyms and pokemon league" formula and explore more of the pokemon world creating a new lore an legends, with characters that feels more free and unique. By the way, expecting a franchise this big stopped just because a lot of nostalfans wants their childhood to be the only thing that ever existed, it's kinda lame
@@roggerspider6964 Sorry, I misread the original comment. I thought op was referring to the 12 part epilogue to Ash's journey, which I really didn't care for. I watched a little of Liko's story, and I thought it was okay.
@@justyouraveragejoe9454 well, if we are talking about the epilogue, you're right. It was a lot of wasted potential. Baiting with the team rocket's plot and just focusing in a new antagonist instead of finishing once and for all the Giovanni's arc. I mean, I liked some of the episodes (specially the Babette's one) but... You know. It could be better

Why do people always forget that he is also the Orange Islands champion

Wrong and wrong, it's just because the orange league is a minor league, it's not even regional, that's why. @@edik4907

Could be translation error, we got a very different Mewtwo movie too because that after all.
@@geekyjulia6053Yep, I watched the Japanese version of the first episode and I can confirm that they did know each other before that.
Gary was trying to gaslight Ash into thinking they had no history. XD
