Beardsmen need to listen to this guidance. It was a game-changer in my journey. Getting the correct comb and brush for your beard makes a world of difference. Cleaning them keeps everything healthy
Great info Dan! You pointing out combing too fast, did make me realize, I am combing too fast. I'll sometimes think its pretty well combed and speed up, then blow right through snags and sometimes rip hairs out. It's hard when your trying to get in and out, but really glad you reminded me of this.
I just watched this video out of habit but didn’t think it was going to be anything special I was totally wrong I did learn tips and thank you I am going to pass on this video to the younger people to educate them as well Thanks again
I used to use a kent comb, until it broke.. lol I was looking on amazon and came across the chicago combs... and WOW! such a difference! Just GLIDES through the beard! :D I was in hospital for a small op this last week, and one of the nurses commented on my beard, and said "wow, that must have taken a lot of work" and it made me think... I see all these videos (which I love) about how to grow a beard! But I gotta say, I don't think I've ever seen the most actual, important, how to grow a beard, advice video..... Step 1, Decide to grow a beard. Step 2, Don't trim it. Step 3, Beard! But I guess you can't make a channel out of that! Lol
@DanCBearded Haha yeah, so am I. That comment just made me think.. "that must have taken a lot of work" It's work to make it look nice.. But growing a beard? It's pure neglect! lol
I wear beard for ~20 years but always it was short because my hair there are very curly and it always looked like face pubes. Around 2-2.5 years ago I decided to don't care about how it looks and what other people will think and finally go for big one. I started using Chicago 8 after one of your videos from last year I think. I was using Kent but it's too small and irritatingly static (it's ok for moustache but I still prefer different - those small ones that's look like made exactly for moustache), I was also using those cheap ones and switching to Chicago combs was really something different. I have one in shower to use it like for last step there to untangle after washing and before drying. Another one is near my "station" where I have oil, hair drier etc. I'm thinking also about getting no 7 also.
I've always had a very short beard and used those cheap combs, recently I've let my beard grow out , I'm bnot sure how long I've started because my beard is totally white, it's been a couple of months, I can't seem to keep my hands off my beard I like pulling on it , it's probably bad for the beard, I use a boars hair brush several times a day, I use beard oil in the morning and beard butter in the afternoon, maybe I wash it too much, everyday, I want a good comb , but can you comb it too much, I guess I have about 3 inches in length I'd like another 3 inches, I kove your beard I'm not sure it would look good in white, I wear alot of kilts and always seem to get compliments with the beard and kilt
This video will help so many! I believe most of us have made these mistakes before. Thank you for all you do Dan!
Perfect beard day!🔥🔥

Man, I think that I keep learning and your content helps in this BeardQuest.
Excellent advice Dan! 👍👍 I definitely need to slow down when combing, and not mindlessly muscle through snags. Thanks for the reminders! 👍👊
Thanks for the wash tip.
Great video and advice as always Dan 👍 Good quality comb and clean your combs regularly.

@DanCBearded Your Welcome 🙏
O freak I've been using a metal beard. Not very happy with it but now I'll use it for the dog 😂
How should you wash a wooden comb? Any opinion on the Bass bamboo combs/brushes found in a lot of stores?
I have a question not concerning combs but beard wash …. Castile soap? DIY beard wash
