Brisbane unfairly lost their home Preliminary Final 20 years ago to the same team that unfairly lost their home Preliminary Final to the G. Seems poetic it would happen two decades later, but Geelong fans would only have to make a relatively short drive or flight to Melbourne, compared to Brisbane fans having to fly.
Probably the greatest preliminary final I've ever watched. Brisbane deserves to win the premiership at this rate. Lester, Starcevich & Ah Chee are criminally underrated players.
Callum Ah Chee having a match-winning goal with just over 2 minutes left. Also did it for Lions in Rd 19. That game was against.... Swans! Should be a ripping grand final!
His role in the comeback win against Sandringham at Sandringham Oval earlier this year in the VFL screamed out for senior selection. He was instrumental in the Lions coming back to win from something like 60 points down in the third qtr. I watched the game and the wind was favouring one end dramatically. In the third Sandy blew out to a huge margin using the wind to bomb balls into their forward zone super deep but, then Ah Chee stepped up to the plate and drove low kicks into the Lions forward line to bring the Lions back into the contest. It wasn't only him, his teammates rallied and, kicking with the howling gale at their backs in the final qtr the Lions turned the game on its head with Ah Chee the Maestro of the win. I don't think he has missed senior footy since that game. I thought he was imperious that day and he's proven the selection panel right on selecting him each and every week. He was great last night.
