- My dream airplane is here! Check out my new Mooney M20J 201. I've had this airplane for over a decade, but it was like taking delivery of a whole new airplane. For 10 years I have been refurbishing this Mooney little by little. Now it's got a factory reman engine, new interior, new paint, and endless upgrades. It truly feels like having a new airplane!
Got it painted by Lancaster Aero in Smoketown PA using Axalta Imron paint in Matterhorn White, Ferara Red, and Las Vegas Gold. My wife helped picked the scheme and colors and it came out absolutely incredible.
Byron pulled up behind me in his old '77 201 and we went up for a flight review in mine.

I am sure you are going to love it. But please, please, don't just fly it around the area. Mooney's are made to travel! I took my E across country many times and that is the way Mooney's are meant to be flown😁 And it looks like you are! I hope you have or are getting your instrument rating because anyone with their own plane is going to want to use it and you never want to scud run.
I would suggest, and this goes for anyone who is going to travel in their plane, is get all the DVD's and books by Richard Collins. He is the guru of instrument flying in small planes. I am in the process of getting another Mooney and am pulling out all the old DVD's. His videos are all when there weren't all the high tech equipment. But none of the new equipment replaces judgement and understanding why things are happening. That is what he teaches, in my opinion, the best ever.

Is this Mooney the first production Mooney with factory pressurization? If it is there is a surprising story about the planes designer and how Mooney took his design for the 1rst pressurized production Mooney.
This is not a NEW Mooney you goof. It was built in 1978.
It's about as new as they come. They hadn't made many since.
@@Mooney201er C'mon....some people looking at these vids do not know aviation that well...when you claim it's new you are not telling the truth and misleading people. It is a new 'experience' for you, not a brand new aircraft.

Wow that is beautiful. I fly out of 22N about 50 miles north of Smoketown. Hope to one day see your Mooney in real life.
Good deal...that old paint was getting a little tired...Glad you can breathe new life into that J...they really are the sweet spot of performance/economy....
Me again. As well as the simply superb paintjob, I really like the way they've blended the wing walk into the paint scheme. If I was over there, I would definitely use these folks to paint my 20J when it comes time.

Lovely. I watched all your videos when I decided that a Mooney was the best plane for me. I Wanted the J, but I got a C model. With the 3 bladed prop, speed brakes and all the upgrades of the J model, people actually think it's a J model.
Hi, I was curious what kind of cruise speeds you're getting with the C + 3 bladed prop? I heard the 3 blade slows it down a bit but climb improves.
Yup! Mooneys are meant to go fast. Only get 3 blade if you're based at or using smaller runways.

@@MrTriath1337 normally cruise between 145-148 mph. Heard the same thing about the 3bladed props and that it's more quiet.

Interior was some years prior. It was a lot of work and expense replacing all the plastic headliner to new.
