This watch is wooooooow. They have absolutely smashed it out of the ballpark here. Everything. The Bluey grey dial, the orange lume, the bracelet, the crystal, the price. I am VERY picky with watches only wanting to own icons so to speak. This has made the list. Wow.
I just got one from my AD, and it will be shipped to me on Saturday. My sales guy said it is gorgeous.I think this piece will be high in demand for the holidays.

What a beauty! Sadly, for us with bus-driver sized wrists and arms, it's probably 2-3mm smaller than the sweet spot. That being said, total stunner and I'm sure it will sell like hotcakes. Great video sir and congrats on the 200k subs!

I was invited to the opening of the Omega Boutique in Maastricht tonight. It was supposed to be there but unfortunately it wasn’t and will be on display there somewhere next week.
I'm usually not a fan of faux patina but I think it really works here. Well done Omega.
My first reaction was, another Omega Speedy? But listening to you describe and looking at the watch, I want one. I already have an 1861 hesalite Speedy but this one looks so good and a perfect size for me.

I like my moon watch. This is cool, but I love the history of the first watch on the moon. This one was only worn in space in a controlled environment.

I got a FOIS (previous generation) at the beginning of 2021 for 4300€ just before they discontinued it. Fast fwd 3 years, and the new version is double the price. Crazy how expensive it’s become !!

That‘s because of the crazy inflation we have in the world and don‘t forget: This new FOIS has the new Master Chronometer certified by METAS which is way better (and much more expensive) then the calibre of the last generation FOIS.

I think you can pull it off. As I understand the 42mm is with the crowngard and since this doesn’t have any its 39,70mm. So they are basically the same size. Correct me if Im wrong😅

As an owner of the Ed White rest assured, I can categorically tell you it wears bigger than the standard Moonwatch. The lack of crown guards helps accentuate the dial somewhat. Note also the standard Moonwatch of course is a 40mm dial / bezel, that extra 2mm coming only from the asymmetrical crown guards. You’ll be just grand with this trust me!
I have an Ed White and I disagree. Personally, the EW wears diametrically, and feels, smaller than the 3861. I have small wrists so watch form is very noticeable. Eg, I also have a CK859 which is virtually the same diameter but feels way smaller on my wrist than the EW, and certainly the 3861. However, I do agree with you that Oisin could wear it without diminishing its presence.

Don’t get all the fuss tbh. Not keen on faux lume. Dial looks to almost have a blue hue to it. Hands look a bit weird. The Moonwatch is better.

The blue hue was done purposely. There were some models in the 60s that left the factory with blueish dial that collectors love. I personally love it but agree that the lume could be toned down a bit maybe similar to the Ed white

I prefer the moon watch. However, I respect this rerelease just as much. I'm tired of the term faux lume. It's simply a different color lume. It's a vintage recreation so there's no point in having anything on the dial stark white. That would move the design into more modern esthetic. The lume is supposed to emulate tritium that was used back then not just to make it look old.

I have never tried on a speedmaster, but I did see a speedy reduced at a concert this past April, killer looking watch imo. I’d buy a speedmaster, used. The only new ones I’d consider would be the factory gem set models, but I’ll never be able to afford those, so maybe the gold speedy would be a milestone buy at the dealer, since I’m not worried about resale value. I buy and keep all of my watches.

I think us bassists have bigger wrists in general. Just goes with the way we move around the fretboard. I have an almost 8 incher, and I’m rocking a 36 today coz it was a gift. I was freaked out at first, but now… I kinda like it! How weird.

nice first impression of a stunning watch! 👍🏼 by the way, have you ever tried on an ed white? owning one and having owned a regular moonwatch (sapphire sandwich with the calibre 1863) before, i can tell you from first hand experience that, surprisingly, the ed white wears like a regular moonwatch with a 42 mm diameter. so if you like the new fois so much (and right you are!), you shouldn’t be too afraid of its size and put it on your wrist in the next omega boutique… 😎
An original numbered edition FOIS on a Forstner flat link gets you 80% there for ~$6k and no fauxtina. The biggest difference will be the better movement in this watch, and maybe the new sapphire (hard to judge from pictures). If it had a hesalite I’d have more motivation. I guess the dark blue dial might be another reason, but I’ve been told a titanium moon watch is coming soon (maybe speedy Tuesday 2025). A lot of new speedies in 2024!
I cried after watching this. Im selling all my rolexs now.
It's a lovely watch, but I find it weird that we celebrate the first Omega in space. The first watch in space was the Breitling Navitimer Ref. 809. The first watch in open space was the Strela. And the first watch on the moon was the Omega Speedmaster. But why celebrate the first watch from a specific brand in space? Are we to do that for all brands of watches that have been in space?
Another great video, but the new FOIS cost twice more than previous FOIS in 2020 (4.800 euros), with much lower quality storage box and not as good caseback as the previous FOIS which was much better in craftmanship. I also believe that the sunburst blue colour of the dial isn't historically correct with the heritage of the model.The only thing i like better than previous FOIS is the new sapphire crystal which looks amazing!!
I believe this is the first sub-40 millimeter Speedy in ages that's not a Reduced model. I am badly tempted.

You probably won’t see this comment but I have the ed white and a very large wrist and honestly it works as good as my 42 mm speedy’s. So I would advise you to go see if this really doesn’t work for you as I also have that explorer II (black) and to me the ed white fits just as well.

I'd bet this version is going to wear very much the same size as the current Moonwatch. The difference in case dimension is the lack of the assymetric crown guard addition that the Moonwatch has. Dial/bezel size is probably identical.

I wish they had a Chrystal case back so you can see the movement, I like to see the movement in a watch.
Took me a 4 month wait to get the white dial. Maybe I can save for another 4 months 😂. I have the original fois too but this looks better.
Would have loved to seen an open case back on this latest incarnation …prices have nearly doubled in just a few years.

At 4:09 - If the back case did NOT say, "The First Omega In Space October 3, 1962", I'd agree with you, it would be a near perfect Speedmaster. As is, the writing is kitsch. A big pass for me.
I have a Seamaster but this is my (new) choice.
When i tried on the speedmaster the bracelet seemed a bit flimsy? Not weighty and substantial like my GMT master ii bracelet.

Very classy looking piece but too small and with a thin 19mm bracelet. Bloody gorgeous looking though what a handsome piece at a non too insane price tag, these will be hard to find for a while just like the white speedy.

I like it but not the dial color.
Piss yellow faux patina is a turn off. Just give it white markers like the first FOIS. I don't even know why that is such a big deal. Breitling and Heuer were both in space before Omega
