I definitely think everything post-Zokket's a step down from the rest of the game A bunch of revisiting previous islands on fetch quests with no new areas, and Reclusa is WAAAAAAY to on the nose with his philosophy (like, there's not even a hint of subtly to how he words his "bonds are bad" philosophy unlike Zokket) He's also literally there for like, only a few hours. At least enemies like the Shroobs and Dimentio had good chunks of the game to demonstrate how vile they are, Reclusa's just all talk with his previous conquests
Yeah its really weird, a lot of people think the ending is the best in the series meanwhile a lot of people don't like it. I've heard and seen a lot of both.
@@paulomatute4114 reclusa became one of my favorite Mario villains very quickly and I thought the finale was really good and was extremely climactic and boss fight was kind of hard but I can see why some people didn't find it hard. And the final battle got me way more hyped and pumped up than any other Mario and Luigi final boss as gotten me pumped up and in my opinion reclusa is one of the best Nintendo villains to be made who deserves to be list amongst the best Nintendo antagonist

Yeah, it's kinda disappointing that there weren't more boss themes for major character bosses throughout the game, and the finale does drag out a little bit, but this game is still great regardless. Let's just hope the series continues.
I went back into this game like three times saying "Okay, this is the time I finish it." and then I didn't because of how long everything was taking. I eventually got through though and I'm glad I did, it's a really great game. Wish there was post-game though.
Yeah the music variety was definitely a sore point. I think what is there is good, and the amount of music in this OST does match the previous games, but with how long it is, you are just hoping for more. It can’t hold you for the entire 40+ runtime. The pacing really does sour every single other aspect of the game.
You are a professional hater of the ending damn lol. I really liked the ending and think it’s by far the best in the series. I’m surprised it’s the only part you didn’t like, but perhaps I shouldn’t be if you played straight through the last 5+ hours. It absolutely drags on. This isn’t my favorite game among them, but it has some of the highest highs and lowest lows. So I think it’s worth seeing to the end for people who like Mario RPGs, even if it does take a long time.

In a recent interview with the developers they reveal that they really enjoyed making Brothership feel like the past entries, however, they did say that they want to explore the "Alphadream touch", if that isn't screaming a remake then I don't know what are they taking about.

Zokket, Extension Corps, and even Bowser not having a unique battle theme reminds me how the Dark Star and Dark Fawful didn't have their own unique battle theme in the original BiS...
Yeah there just wasn’t enough budget I guess. Really think they should have allocated that money away from area themes a bit. One more regular battle theme, then a theme for bowser and zokket. It would have made the length of the game a little more tolerable.
@Zyckro it would have been nice if they got their own battle theme... and this may be a hot take, but i don't mind the length of the game. Sure, the pacing was odd at some points, but i don't think it's as bad as some are making it out to be... but if it was up to me, i would cut down a bit of the first 3 hours of the game because it was kinda boring, but as soon i beat the first boss the game pick up for me and kept going up with only a little bit at the final hours dragging on...
I'm glad you had fun with Brothership. For me, I think the beginning and end both had their set of pacing problems but overall this game was a blast and I really hope the next M&L game doesn't take another almost decade to come out.

Gotta agree with Brent on the music choices here. Like, if you want to use the mid boss theme for Bowser's first fight, fine but it's a little disappointing that his Glohm variant doesn't get something cool. What's even more lame is that Zokket, the main villain between Desolatt and when you fight him, just gets the lighthouse boss theme, a theme I like but very unfitting for this moment. Then there's Reclusa. His theme is fine, it gets the job done but with the bar so high, in general it leaves a lot more to be desired. Bear in mind, this isn't a dig at the entire soundtrack. I'm not some Yoko fanboy who can't stand this ost. There are just some music decisions I disagree with when it comes to bosses in the final chunk of the game.
I don't hold that TOO much with M&L considering all the previous games usually do that, but when we compare it to other games like the TTYD remake and it's plethora of tracks, it makes sense why one feels that way. My true issue is that besides the regular boss battle themes, the majority of the tracks are dull/forgettable, twistee island is genuinely one of the best M&L tracks of all time and I think the disco place and shipshape island have good themes too but everything else doesn't feel memorable in the slightest...

Brent I feel like your problems with the final boss are purely because of you having way too much attack…like seriously the boss didn’t even get to attack in phase 1 and phase 4 and phase 3 got to attack like 5 times.
I do still think Reclusa is the weakest of the final bosses tbh Once you get inside Weeping Reclusa he just lacks the presence and scale Cackletta Soul, Elder Princess Shroob, Fawful Core, Dreamy Bowser, and Shiny Robowser had Dude fused with a titanic tree and once you get inside he's... literally identical to how he's been the entire time beforehand, as if the fusion didn't actually benefit Reclusa himself at all
@ to be fair if he did become a giant tree that’d mean he’d have to interact with people more. Something we all know he’d really not want to do so I honestly love how after fusing with the entire tree he effectively just uses the tree as a house to stay inside and be antisocial inside of.

Reclusa gives *heavy* Kirby Final Boss Energy. Reclusa himself only kinda but Weeping Reclusa has some Master Crown vibes and the Weeping Core is a ball with a singular eye (need I say more).
Here's a hot take y'all not ready for. Reclusa > Dark Bowser as a final boss My main issue with Dark bowser is that Bowser basically has NO boss fight and is clear evidence of not enough being done with bowser. Bowser is missing from a massive chunk of the game and does not have even a boss rush to compensate. Not even the remake. Bowser beats dark bowser so fast on casual and sometimes even the "hard mode". Then mario and luigi will just demolish fawful in 2 turns max as long as you are decent with magic mirror or just adequately levelled. Don't get me wrong, the atmosphere and music is perfect and I like the dark star core portion of the fight, but the bowser portion leaves a bad taste in my mouth despite it having arguably the best KO finisher. And just to really drill this in, dark bowser portion of the fight had to get buffed to attack a minimum of twice per turn in the remake because even the devs knew the boss needed to do more. I like reclusa because he is the exact opposite of the themes the game has been setting up since the very start, has a clear body count considering he has destroyed other worlds already, I think his antics are amusing, he is genuinely probably the scariest villain of the series, only contested by bowletta and elder princess shroob. Everything about him is unsettling. Even if some things overstay its welcome, he did not play games and used every resource at his disposal. I actually like his boss theme, and keep in mind he has technically 4 themes for the final stretch. They aren't epic themes but they are super fitting for the moment and character it is exemplifying. Yes on its own, its just an ok track. But regardless the theme, the story themes, the villain, this is my current favorite final boss experience out of all the games, in second place being dreamy bowser. Also i think you just don't like characters with a fawful like personality. Because reclusa is rather similar and you don't like him much either.
First off, Thank you for a great year of content Brent, your playthrough's this year have been fun to see. especially seeing how happy TTYD Remake made you with it's positive changes as it was the first time I played the game. now for my Brothership thoughts Reclusa might be the most mixed thing in this game, I have seen people who absolutely love how insane he is and all the messed up stuff he does, because like if you're stuck in that flower in your happy place you're gonna starve to death. but also people who don't like him since his antics just aren't for some others and it's a drag to get to him, also the boss song for him isn't as godlike as the other 5 in the series. But yeah regardless of if I liked him or not (which I did) this game was a really fun time for me, my first time playing a brand new Mario RPG on release day. for me the characters in this game are like Geno and Mallow in RPG or basically everyone in TTYD, I grew to love the characters so much that I didn't want to say goodbye to them, making me really emotional at the end of the game, it's like that for this game (especially with IDLE because I can see my friend group as the wannabe heroes with Ginyu Force poses). Snoutlet is now my second favourite partner in the series now behind Dreambert (not a fan of Starlow shit talking Luigi in the last games and this game, she doesn't even call him by his name sometimes she just says "Mario's Brother" or "That Other Guy" IN FRONT OF HIM). For their first outing with this series I feel like the new developers got a lot right and made a worthy title in the series, only wishes for the next game is better pacing and more original boss songs.

It looked like he was analysing the bros attacks. I thought he was gonna do something like copying them alone and stroger, or do something to counter them.
What Weeping Core does it if you use any attacks against him too much, (1 one for the shells, two for any other attack) he’ll have fully analyzed it and the damage of said move will be greatly decreased, and even carry over to the Reclusa phase, albeit not as much damage reduction, but still, and the hammer or Green Shell or Clockout Blow won’t do anything to Reclusa since he floats, so those attacks won’t matter if he analyzed them in the previous phase.
@@Kirbyfan86_27 yes pretty disappointed with that mechanic because I thought it was going to copy the moves and use them against you or something. I feel like that would’ve been a really cool way for the final boss to have a bunch of extra attacks also make replaying the fight interesting.
19:50, oh. I just used that fight to get practice in, took like 5-10 minutes to get it done. 22:05 and I used this one for the "Eliminate X amount of Zok Troopers" Achievement

@ I side eye people who use wait-a-minute as well, but at least that requires a modicum of skill to achieve its full effectiveness rather than protectus. Unless they’re using auto-excellent, then I really do have issues. All of which I usually keep to myself, though. People can play the game how they want to, I’ve got no right to attack them over that, I just don’t like it when people go “oh that boss was easy” or “oh I’m so good at this game” when they’re spamming “instant win plugs”

I disagree, the end game of Brothership is the best part of the entire game, hell, best part of the franchise. I love Reclusa as a villan, the idea of an Eldrich God beeing the final boss and putting everyone in a Illusion were they are soo happy they don't want to leave so they die in the real world while enjoying the dream is fucking amazing and metal as fuck, I'm kinda sad you cut all the cool shit they do with Reclusa, like making M&L Illusion were Peach and Bowser join kingdom and get peace, which makes the brother really uncomforable because is very Uncanny, So reclusa next move IT'S TOO KICK BOWSER OF THE KINGDOM AND EVERYONE CELEBRATING HE'S GONE INCLDUING HIS MINIONS AND SON, WHICH IT'S REALLY FUCKING DARK.
Yeah the ending is fantastic. Genuinely can’t believe his opinion unless he was just that exhausted going through the last section of the game. Reclusa may seem simple on the surface, but what he is doing is genuinely terrifying. The fact he is so immature with such immense power is also really scary. Only Mario villains that top this guy are Dementio and Count Bleck, which are the absolute peak of (complex) Mario villains across the franchise.
I would really love to see him play Anton Blast, would be neat to see him experience some non Nintendo games like he did with Mean Bean machine a while back.
I agree that this game drags you a lot, get slow some places, good combat, music is decent, in my opinion I think this is base game, then they will improve it further and I know we will get another game in the future happy holidays
The flowers are part of a genocidal plan from reclusa. His plan is to keep them in the flowers to starve them to death so that he can rule alone. Reclusa is probably the most evil villain in the entire mario franchise, because he has successfully committed genocide in the past too. Honestly, he might be in the conversation for the most evil nintendo villain. As an added bonus, he uses chemical weapons against the bros too

I had a lot of fun playing the game. Of course, there are some things that could be better. Still, I'm so happy that they managed to make another good Mario and Luigi game.
While yes, some of the story and moments were a bit iffy you gotta remember. That was a brand new Mario and Luigi game in years! They are probably a little rusty from back then, so we just gotta wait for another title to see them grow
I generally do love Reclusa, he's an insane childish person who cares for no one. I personally found his fight more fun than Cackletta, Elder Princess Shroob and shiny robobowser [for my own reasons] even if he isn't the hardest i just think what dragged him down is two things, lack of attacks and lack of durabilty. He does have a lot of attacks through all 4 phases but seperately it doesn't feel like it. in phase 1 he just summons enemies to attack you as you chase him, in phase 2 he has 3 attacks, throwing giant fire boulders, swiping his arm, and ice crystals. in phase 3 he has a spinning spike attack and a ramming roll attack and in phase 4 he has the combo attack and the clone attack with gaining a temper tantrum throwing attacking at half HP. Thats a lot of attacks. More than any other Final Boss has ever had, but they are all seperated. if each phase had more attacks that which also demand a bit more from you it would have felt better What i mean by Durability is he doens't have anything to really keep himself alive. his HP count in the last 2 phases don't pass 10k, he has no healing move nor a shielding move. the weeping core is technically his shield but acts more like a phase that loses two attacks once broken. tie all of this to you doing almost or over 2k dmg per bro each turn So yeah, Reclusa really needed more to his fight. but despite that i think his fight is still fun, his character is great and visually is the best final boss in the series.

Someone with that immaturity should not have that much power, but he’s primordial and has already destroyed countless worlds. you get a glimpse of how that could happen to concordia through these flowers

Regarding the monster mania guys in this video... I forgot burns effect in the curlap, not equipping it... the bombomb took me multiple attempts, and the zokket troop was quite fun to take out with the zapperator...
Y'know, I think one of my favorite parts of the game was the revelation I had that the devs thought DEF was more valuable than POW With my "source" of sorts for that conclusion being with the Golden POW/DEF Gloves you can buy at Lottacoins, where when you have 50k coins, the POW Gloves will give you around 70 points to that stat, while the DEF ones only go to around 40 with the same amount That aside, I really liked Brothership While I can see the point about the ending feeling dragged out, I personally didn't mind it too much, if only because how bad the stakes were got me fairly invested As for Reclusa, I think his design's neat, but yeah, definitely the weakest final boss theme in the series [maybe, I dunno, Paper Jam fills me with such an obscene amount of indifference that I've never bothered actually listening to its soundtrack, outside of its boss theme which really is just rock bottom out of all the other boss themes] It's funny to think Kirby did a giant, near-godlike tree as a final boss better than a Mario RPG-I know technically Weeping Reclusa is _just_ a phase 1 while Master Crown was just plainly The Final Boss for Magolor mode, but still All that said, I do have to admit I might like it more than I potentially otherwise would simply because I can't help but see it as a spiritual successor to Super Paper Mario-at least in terms of the story It's a good message and, honestly, something I should really make an effort to actually absorb, as I do tend to have a bad habit of being antisocial sometimes *[genuinely* antisocial, mind you, not the quirky "Oh noooo I have to go outside and be around people~ uwu" idea, but the actual, hostile "I want everyone around me to FUCK OFF and any inconvenience they give me makes me wish the absolute worst happens to them" kind that Glohm represented]

Just go stop them and don’t think about it because the writers sure didn’t!”
I feel so stupid. I didn't even think about burning strats for the enemy at 19:14. I just ended up raw dogging that fight with Bros. Attacks and syrups. I really hope this was enough to save the Mario and Luigi series and it gets more games. Like if I played this as a kid it would've probably gave me some kind of early trauma. Especially the bit when Mario and Luigi are trapped in the fake world and you just see their bodies in the flowers motionless. Idk how hot of a take this is, but in my rankings its definitely number 1. It could just be recency bias, but it really did take all the things I loved from SS and BIS and combined them into this awesomeness. The battle plugs were a bit broken, but they were super fun to use and the final boss was super cool too. I also loved all the references to past games as well. The only real complaint I have is that it goes on a bit long, but its a new game in the series in 9 years so I can forgive it. I just want them to take this momentum and keep it going.
I really was expecting some variety in battle themes tbf kinda like TTYD remake, that was a disappointed plus the unnecessary extension of certain parts of the history. Overall, i really enjoyed this game so much, It was worth my time on this.
Damn, a movie-like video to finish off the year there! And yes while Reclusa, or Amperfide in german, ´s arc was dragged on, I found the concept of ever aloneness pretty eerie and deep tbh! Nonetheless, it was great to watch you play through it, with your own editing-charme and all that!^^ The Peach´s Castle Part gave me the creeps when I played it o.o
I had the same struggles that last Bros. Attack for Mario. I can usually get the first part down, but the timing on it feels so strict I just used Auto Excellent for it.
Okay so... I might sound a bit crazy when I say but I just can't stop comparing the two together. If you really think about it Reclusa is essentially Madara Uchiha. Now I know you might be asking how that might be possible, well the one big thing is Madara used the divine tree to trap people in their own dream worlds and now if you look at Reclusa what is he doing, trapping people in their own dream world as well. Both of them think these dream worlds are a true utopia for people. Again, I know I might sound crazy and probably stupid for saying this but I couldn't stop thinking about it when seeing what Reclusa was doing.
Here’s a rant on the end game so don’t click if you don’t want to scroll past a text wall the developers panned out the run time with all the puzzles and the fake world segment for way-way too long The puzzles don’t feel like the final realization of your abilities with how unnatural its placement is And the fake world while cool was kinda boring since reclusa didn’t get to develop Speaking of, could’ve spent the time panning out the game to flesh out reclusa which imo didn’t have enough time to show how batshit crazy he was It kinda made the whole rebirth of him make it feel like he was there also to just stretch out the game And the final boss while alright does not have enough character behind it The stakes aren’t made that clear even if reclusa threatened the mushroom kingdom they could’ve also added some post game content(it is just a personal bias tho)

Yeah its really weird, a lot of people think the ending is the best in the series meanwhile a lot of people don't like it. I've heard and seen a lot of both.

@@paulomatute4114 reclusa became one of my favorite Mario villains very quickly and I thought the finale was really good and was extremely climactic and boss fight was kind of hard but I can see why some people didn't find it hard. And the final battle got me way more hyped and pumped up than any other Mario and Luigi final boss as gotten me pumped up and in my opinion reclusa is one of the best Nintendo villains to be made who deserves to be list amongst the best Nintendo antagonist

Yeah, it's kinda disappointing that there weren't more boss themes for major character bosses throughout the game, and the finale does drag out a little bit, but this game is still great regardless. Let's just hope the series continues.
I went back into this game like three times saying "Okay, this is the time I finish it." and then I didn't because of how long everything was taking.
I eventually got through though and I'm glad I did, it's a really great game.

Yeah the music variety was definitely a sore point. I think what is there is good, and the amount of music in this OST does match the previous games, but with how long it is, you are just hoping for more. It can’t hold you for the entire 40+ runtime.
The pacing really does sour every single other aspect of the game.

This isn’t my favorite game among them, but it has some of the highest highs and lowest lows. So I think it’s worth seeing to the end for people who like Mario RPGs, even if it does take a long time.

In a recent interview with the developers they reveal that they really enjoyed making Brothership feel like the past entries, however, they did say that they want to explore the "Alphadream touch", if that isn't screaming a remake then I don't know what are they taking about.

Zokket, Extension Corps, and even Bowser not having a unique battle theme reminds me how the Dark Star and Dark Fawful didn't have their own unique battle theme in the original BiS...
Yeah there just wasn’t enough budget I guess. Really think they should have allocated that money away from area themes a bit. One more regular battle theme, then a theme for bowser and zokket. It would have made the length of the game a little more tolerable.
I always feel bad, Bowser himself never really gets his own unique themes unless he is the final boss.

Sure, the pacing was odd at some points, but i don't think it's as bad as some are making it out to be... but if it was up to me, i would cut down a bit of the first 3 hours of the game because it was kinda boring, but as soon i beat the first boss the game pick up for me and kept going up with only a little bit at the final hours dragging on...
I'm glad you had fun with Brothership. For me, I think the beginning and end both had their set of pacing problems but overall this game was a blast and I really hope the next M&L game doesn't take another almost decade to come out.

Gotta agree with Brent on the music choices here. Like, if you want to use the mid boss theme for Bowser's first fight, fine but it's a little disappointing that his Glohm variant doesn't get something cool. What's even more lame is that Zokket, the main villain between Desolatt and when you fight him, just gets the lighthouse boss theme, a theme I like but very unfitting for this moment. Then there's Reclusa. His theme is fine, it gets the job done but with the bar so high, in general it leaves a lot more to be desired. Bear in mind, this isn't a dig at the entire soundtrack. I'm not some Yoko fanboy who can't stand this ost. There are just some music decisions I disagree with when it comes to bosses in the final chunk of the game.
The fact that both Bowser fights, the Extension Corps, and even *Zokket* just use the generic boss themes honestly feels insulting to the characters
I don't hold that TOO much with M&L considering all the previous games usually do that, but when we compare it to other games like the TTYD remake and it's plethora of tracks, it makes sense why one feels that way.
My true issue is that besides the regular boss battle themes, the majority of the tracks are dull/forgettable, twistee island is genuinely one of the best M&L tracks of all time and I think the disco place and shipshape island have good themes too but everything else doesn't feel memorable in the slightest...

Here's a hot take y'all not ready for. Reclusa > Dark Bowser as a final boss
My main issue with Dark bowser is that Bowser basically has NO boss fight and is clear evidence of not enough being done with bowser. Bowser is missing from a massive chunk of the game and does not have even a boss rush to compensate. Not even the remake. Bowser beats dark bowser so fast on casual and sometimes even the "hard mode". Then mario and luigi will just demolish fawful in 2 turns max as long as you are decent with magic mirror or just adequately levelled.
Don't get me wrong, the atmosphere and music is perfect and I like the dark star core portion of the fight, but the bowser portion leaves a bad taste in my mouth despite it having arguably the best KO finisher.
And just to really drill this in, dark bowser portion of the fight had to get buffed to attack a minimum of twice per turn in the remake because even the devs knew the boss needed to do more.
I like reclusa because he is the exact opposite of the themes the game has been setting up since the very start, has a clear body count considering he has destroyed other worlds already, I think his antics are amusing, he is genuinely probably the scariest villain of the series, only contested by bowletta and elder princess shroob. Everything about him is unsettling. Even if some things overstay its welcome, he did not play games and used every resource at his disposal.
I actually like his boss theme, and keep in mind he has technically 4 themes for the final stretch. They aren't epic themes but they are super fitting for the moment and character it is exemplifying. Yes on its own, its just an ok track. But regardless the theme, the story themes, the villain, this is my current favorite final boss experience out of all the games, in second place being dreamy bowser.
Also i think you just don't like characters with a fawful like personality. Because reclusa is rather similar and you don't like him much either.

First off, Thank you for a great year of content Brent, your playthrough's this year have been fun to see. especially seeing how happy TTYD Remake made you with it's positive changes as it was the first time I played the game. now for my Brothership thoughts
Reclusa might be the most mixed thing in this game, I have seen people who absolutely love how insane he is and all the messed up stuff he does, because like if you're stuck in that flower in your happy place you're gonna starve to death. but also people who don't like him since his antics just aren't for some others and it's a drag to get to him, also the boss song for him isn't as godlike as the other 5 in the series.
But yeah regardless of if I liked him or not (which I did) this game was a really fun time for me, my first time playing a brand new Mario RPG on release day. for me the characters in this game are like Geno and Mallow in RPG or basically everyone in TTYD, I grew to love the characters so much that I didn't want to say goodbye to them, making me really emotional at the end of the game, it's like that for this game (especially with IDLE because I can see my friend group as the wannabe heroes with Ginyu Force poses). Snoutlet is now my second favourite partner in the series now behind Dreambert (not a fan of Starlow shit talking Luigi in the last games and this game, she doesn't even call him by his name sometimes she just says "Mario's Brother" or "That Other Guy" IN FRONT OF HIM). For their first outing with this series I feel like the new developers got a lot right and made a worthy title in the series, only wishes for the next game is better pacing and more original boss songs.

It looked like he was analysing the bros attacks. I thought he was gonna do something like copying them alone and stroger, or do something to counter them.
What Weeping Core does it if you use any attacks against him too much, (1 one for the shells, two for any other attack) he’ll have fully analyzed it and the damage of said move will be greatly decreased, and even carry over to the Reclusa phase, albeit not as much damage reduction, but still, and the hammer or Green Shell or Clockout Blow won’t do anything to Reclusa since he floats, so those attacks won’t matter if he analyzed them in the previous phase.

I disagree, the end game of Brothership is the best part of the entire game, hell, best part of the franchise.
I love Reclusa as a villan, the idea of an Eldrich God beeing the final boss and putting everyone in a Illusion were they are soo happy they don't want to leave so they die in the real world while enjoying the dream is fucking amazing and metal as fuck, I'm kinda sad you cut all the cool shit they do with Reclusa, like making M&L Illusion were Peach and Bowser join kingdom and get peace, which makes the brother really uncomforable because is very Uncanny, So reclusa next move IT'S TOO KICK BOWSER OF THE KINGDOM AND EVERYONE CELEBRATING HE'S GONE INCLDUING HIS MINIONS AND SON, WHICH IT'S REALLY FUCKING DARK.

Reclusa may seem simple on the surface, but what he is doing is genuinely terrifying. The fact he is so immature with such immense power is also really scary. Only Mario villains that top this guy are Dementio and Count Bleck, which are the absolute peak of (complex) Mario villains across the franchise.
I would really love to see him play Anton Blast, would be neat to see him experience some non Nintendo games like he did with Mean Bean machine a while back.

While yes, some of the story and moments were a bit iffy you gotta remember. That was a brand new Mario and Luigi game in years! They are probably a little rusty from back then, so we just gotta wait for another title to see them grow
I generally do love Reclusa, he's an insane childish person who cares for no one.
I personally found his fight more fun than Cackletta, Elder Princess Shroob and shiny robobowser [for my own reasons] even if he isn't the hardest
i just think what dragged him down is two things, lack of attacks and lack of durabilty. He does have a lot of attacks through all 4 phases but seperately it doesn't feel like it. in phase 1 he just summons enemies to attack you as you chase him, in phase 2 he has 3 attacks, throwing giant fire boulders, swiping his arm, and ice crystals. in phase 3 he has a spinning spike attack and a ramming roll attack and in phase 4 he has the combo attack and the clone attack with gaining a temper tantrum throwing attacking at half HP.
Thats a lot of attacks. More than any other Final Boss has ever had, but they are all seperated. if each phase had more attacks that which also demand a bit more from you it would have felt better
What i mean by Durability is he doens't have anything to really keep himself alive. his HP count in the last 2 phases don't pass 10k, he has no healing move nor a shielding move. the weeping core is technically his shield but acts more like a phase that loses two attacks once broken. tie all of this to you doing almost or over 2k dmg per bro each turn
So yeah, Reclusa really needed more to his fight. but despite that i think his fight is still fun, his character is great and visually is the best final boss in the series.
PEAK gaming im just so happy Mario & Luigi is back and I can't wait to see how future entries improve on this

Regarding the monster mania guys in this video... I forgot burns effect in the curlap, not equipping it... the bombomb took me multiple attempts, and the zokket troop was quite fun to take out with the zapperator...
Y'know, I think one of my favorite parts of the game was the revelation I had that the devs thought DEF was more valuable than POW
With my "source" of sorts for that conclusion being with the Golden POW/DEF Gloves you can buy at Lottacoins, where when you have 50k coins, the POW Gloves will give you around 70 points to that stat, while the DEF ones only go to around 40 with the same amount
That aside, I really liked Brothership
While I can see the point about the ending feeling dragged out, I personally didn't mind it too much, if only because how bad the stakes were got me fairly invested
As for Reclusa, I think his design's neat, but yeah, definitely the weakest final boss theme in the series [maybe, I dunno, Paper Jam fills me with such an obscene amount of indifference that I've never bothered actually listening to its soundtrack, outside of its boss theme which really is just rock bottom out of all the other boss themes]
It's funny to think Kirby did a giant, near-godlike tree as a final boss better than a Mario RPG-I know technically Weeping Reclusa is _just_ a phase 1 while Master Crown was just plainly The Final Boss for Magolor mode, but still
All that said, I do have to admit I might like it more than I potentially otherwise would simply because I can't help but see it as a spiritual successor to Super Paper Mario-at least in terms of the story
It's a good message and, honestly, something I should really make an effort to actually absorb, as I do tend to have a bad habit of being antisocial sometimes *[genuinely* antisocial, mind you, not the quirky "Oh noooo I have to go outside and be around people~ uwu" idea, but the actual, hostile "I want everyone around me to FUCK OFF and any inconvenience they give me makes me wish the absolute worst happens to them" kind that Glohm represented]

People shit on the story and I just don’t get that. It’s a Mario game so you can’t expect much unless it’s super paper Mario. The message of this game is actually meaningful. Unlike the very video-gamey stories that are told in previous games. “Oh no they’re taking over the world stop them! Why? Well idk they just want power? Just go stop them and don’t think about it because the writers sure didn’t!”
I feel so stupid. I didn't even think about burning strats for the enemy at 19:14. I just ended up raw dogging that fight with Bros. Attacks and syrups.
I really hope this was enough to save the Mario and Luigi series and it gets more games. Like if I played this as a kid it would've probably gave me some kind of early trauma. Especially the bit when Mario and Luigi are trapped in the fake world and you just see their bodies in the flowers motionless.
Idk how hot of a take this is, but in my rankings its definitely number 1. It could just be recency bias, but it really did take all the things I loved from SS and BIS and combined them into this awesomeness. The battle plugs were a bit broken, but they were super fun to use and the final boss was super cool too. I also loved all the references to past games as well. The only real complaint I have is that it goes on a bit long, but its a new game in the series in 9 years so I can forgive it. I just want them to take this momentum and keep it going.
I really was expecting some variety in battle themes tbf kinda like TTYD remake, that was a disappointed plus the unnecessary extension of certain parts of the history.
Overall, i really enjoyed this game so much, It was worth my time on this.

Damn, a movie-like video to finish off the year there! And yes while Reclusa, or Amperfide in german, ´s arc was dragged on, I found the concept of ever aloneness pretty eerie and deep tbh! Nonetheless, it was great to watch you play through it, with your own editing-charme and all that!^^
The Peach´s Castle Part gave me the creeps when I played it o.o
I had the same struggles that last Bros. Attack for Mario. I can usually get the first part down, but the timing on it feels so strict I just used Auto Excellent for it.
Okay so... I might sound a bit crazy when I say but I just can't stop comparing the two together. If you really think about it Reclusa is essentially Madara Uchiha. Now I know you might be asking how that might be possible, well the one big thing is Madara used the divine tree to trap people in their own dream worlds and now if you look at Reclusa what is he doing, trapping people in their own dream world as well. Both of them think these dream worlds are a true utopia for people. Again, I know I might sound crazy and probably stupid for saying this but I couldn't stop thinking about it when seeing what Reclusa was doing.
Reclusa was really trying to put all of Concordia into the Infinite Tsyukuyomi. Brothership’s endgame was nuts.

the developers panned out the run time with all the puzzles and the fake world segment for way-way too long
The puzzles don’t feel like the final realization of your abilities with how unnatural its placement is
And the fake world while cool was kinda boring since reclusa didn’t get to develop
Speaking of, could’ve spent the time panning out the game to flesh out reclusa which imo didn’t have enough time to show how batshit crazy he was
It kinda made the whole rebirth of him make it feel like he was there also to just stretch out the game
And the final boss while alright does not have enough character behind it
The stakes aren’t made that clear even if reclusa threatened the mushroom kingdom
they could’ve also added some post game content(it is just a personal bias tho)
