I still think cooking over a fire or even a Weber charcoal grill adds more flavor. More room too. Bone in adds flavor! I even keep the bone in on certain venison cuts. Great video! Perfect temp and tenderness
Seared in the paella pan! I made paella last weekend - Valencia style, cooked outdoors, too. I figured you would use your Aussie folding grill in the fire pit for that steak, though. I'm sure it was good in the Dutch oven, but imagine how much better it would have been with some smoke and fire char on it.
Wow another great video...Dave my 6 year old daughter Maria loves it when you say " Holy Cow ! " she keeps say Daves not saying it in his last few videos. Looking forward to the next one. Thanks .
I'm a whopping 120# 5'6" female and 3 pounds of steak is an appetizer for me I love red meat! Lol. I'm going to have to try that, the only thing missing is the hickory smoke! I like my steak to moo when I cut into it.
Honestly this is not the way to cook that type of steak. Will it make a delicious meal yes. However that cut of beef needs and begs for a charcoal fire to sear it and bring it up to the medium rare temp. I know at times its the most convienent form of cooking. But nothing and I mean nothing beats grilling a steak like that on coals!
Every time I see one of those steaks I am reminded of the Flintstones going to the drive-in to get some brontasaurus ribs. Looks delicious. Zahn was eyeballing that bone.
I love your videos so much my 10 yr son and I are big fans but next time on your steak use olive oil rub the meat down with it and then add salt, pepper, garlic powder. Use the bone to hang it above hot coals and bast the meat with minced garlic and melted butter and you will have one of the most amazing steaks ever. The bone adds an amazing flavor to the meat so keeping it on and using to tie above fire is great. Thanks for all you do Dave we appreciate you!!
Never understood paying for the extra bone. Just have your butcher cut your ribeye extra thick and don't pay for 5 or 6 inches of frenched bone that's not even in contact with the meat. BTW, a tomahawk is the same cut as a ribeye with extra bone left on.
i would have cut the bone off with a hack saw. The flavor is a little different with bone in and I think it tastes better. I probably would have cooked thr Bone too.
Great video! I think my Lodge Cook-it-All would have handled it with the bone. That aside, what knife were you using? It looks like a great shape blade for that work. And left handed as well!
Holy cow!!! There's something primal about cooking a huge lump of meat on the bone. Definitely a bit caveman. My mouth is watering all the way through this video. 😋
Hey Dave I have a large tractor disc with the center hole welded shut and a 3 inch tall rim welded all the way around it fits perfectly on a single burner turkey fryer that I use at camp to cook for a large group. You might want to look them up for a larger cooking surface.
Dave..Steak looks great and I like the dutch oven idea! I love a good steak as much as anyone, can hardly afford them these days but i gotta tell you, I would fight a grizzly bear over that bone and the bone meat. I'll give you the rest of the steak if I can just have that bone with the bone meat. I have to find another way to cook it if I had to cut that out. Great video, thanks!
Good video Dave! Some of the comments are down right ridiculous, everyone is an expert! Keep on doing what you do dave, some of us truly appreciated the knowledge you share!
I LOL'd with joy to hear Dave's reaction to how good it was 😄 "Ohmy - GOD" 😅
Just left costco I think we need to go back and get us some. It looks amazing.
I always salt my steaks the night before and leave them uncovered in the fridge . Then fry them in olive oil/butter with garlic .
Thank you for everything you do. I have been planning a walk about and you have great experience. Thank you for training the people who understand.

Thanks Dave!

Jack saw gets bone dust everywhere, Zahn got the bone so it was a win
That Birch Beer is damn good too...
Loving all the recipes - having some good luck with them, thanks Dave.
I have watched you from day one Dave, love you brother!

Looks good. I'm going to be craving steak all day now. Guess I know what to pick up for dinner. DBK gave you a pretty nice knife review today too.

Hy Dave, from France, Thanks for your cooking vidéos, you inspire me.
Just one question, what 's this folding kitchen knife ? It looks great.
Holy cow!!! There's something primal about cooking a huge lump of meat on the bone. Definitely a bit caveman. My mouth is watering all the way through this video. 😋
In Argentina they simply lay the steak into the hot coals. The coals shake off the meat after the milliard reaction.
Cheers my friend!!! Good video, You like good food, that's why you'll like the Basque Country! 👏👏👏👌
Great, thanks Dave. Now I want steak to eat. It’s all your fault, in a good way my friend. Looks delicious!

Lol I definitely can't know considering how much steak is these day's. But hell yeah that looked slammin.
Hey Dave, can you do a video on traveling with meat without a ice chest?
Very nice!
Looked to easy to mess up.
👌
You should not pepper steak til after its cooked. Or in the case of tomahawk steak, til after its seared.
How much did the steak cost per pound?
Have you ever considered doing any venison or wild game recipes?
Yum!
I have never heard of tomahawk steak, this steak is huge. Looks tasty!
Man that's a big steak , keep the videos coming Dave. Love the cooking content and thanks for sharing.
i could put a big dent in that slab...but i would need some horse radish.. i drooling on my keyboard..
That is a roast
Do you do survival school? And how can I sign up?
Selfrelianceoutfitters.com
Freaking awesome
That's right, I'm glad u tasted it before, the resting time for a steak
He rested it for 15 minutes listen 👂
What knife is the one you use in the video?
What folding knife is that?
That's more than a tablespoon of salt and pepper Canterbury. I'm not judging. I would have done it the same way.
Anyone know what knife is being used throughout the video?
The main thing you need to know a tomahawk steak is just a ribeye with a bone in it.
Pepper is ok but that's way to much salt needs to be less to prevent a hartitack
Use that bone for broth.
Or a gift for the camp cat
🤙🥩🍺
That steak his huge. Did you eat all of it? Lol
Oooh Weee delicious!
I boycotted Amazon long ago homie, but ok.
Meat with a handle
Lol that's the weirdest tomahawk steak cook I've ever seen. Looks good though!
That bone serves zero purpose unless you're hanging the steak over a fire in camp.
The shire part of worcestershire sauce is pronounced like sheer.
