    Yes I see the mouse, yes I missed it throughout the entirety of the editing/rendering/uploading process, yes I hate it.
    Outside of that glaring, rage inducing miss on my part, I hope you enjoy! I’ll be streaming later today after the video at twitch.tv/mooreover_ if you’d like to come hang out and point out the mouse- I mean talk about Comp Apex!

    Man it only took 4 years to get this type of world class content on comp Apex but I’m glad it’s finally here. Channels like yours and jhawks and the rest of these new age ALGS channels are heaven sent with such in depth, high level pro play analysis that’s been needed in the community since season 2.
    Serious big thank you from me and the whole community. Hopefully you have many more bc new and old Apex players deserve to see how fun and how much there goes into comp Apex, hopefully realizing at the same time how the game should be played

    My understanding of the "Entry Fragger" role that I would like to add, and how I would explain/phrase it, is that they are there to create space for their team to enter. Coming from CSGO, the biggest duty of an entry fragger is create as much space for his team to enter a fight. This can be done by a multitude of ways, but it all centers around breaking the defensive structure of the enemy team. It does not necessarily mean they are to "soften the enemy up", but dealing a lot of entry damage does help in creating space. Entry-fraggers would wide-swing and/or hard focus on a powerful, or vulnerable, defensive position, relying on his teammates to capitalize on the space he creates. They would sometimes completely ignore someone shooting at them from behind, as long as he can achieve his objective. This often creates an opportunity for his team to push through a chokepoint, and get the trades while taking minimal damage. In the example at 9:54, Zero throws his Horizon ult BEHIND the enemy team, to break their defensive structure. They are forced to react to it, breaking it, forcing themselves to look away from the choke/angles they are holding, AND reload their weapons. Lastly, they try to take cover from Zero's push, only to walk straight into the refraggers.
    The part about having teammates take minimal damage is important because during the duration of a fight, you can have several entries and trades happen. It can evolve into a different person taking point/entrying, and a different person trading/refragging. The roles cycle around in the fight depending on who has more HP/armor. This effectively uses the entire team's health pool. A person at 10 health can deal the same damage as someone who is at 100. If the entry can effectively make space, even at 50 HP, your teammate can still swing and participate in the fight. Now how to achieve this and accomplish a good entry is an art in itself. It requires a sense to acknowledge dangerous/vital chokes, "heat" management, and tempo. ("Heat" is the term I use to refer to how much people would shoot/hit you).
    In the same example, Zero went down after losing the duel to aiden, which is unfortunate but not surprising for an entry. They tend to take a lot of damage. That said, Gen and Xynew were able to capitalize on the space he provided, wide-swinging them behind the rock. On Gen's side, he acted as the secondary entry as he was the first to push in. He pushed really WIDE, and also FAR, while Xynew swung from up-close AFTER Gen. These double entry-combo from Zero and Xynew gave Xynew the easiest R99 shots onto the enemy team. After this, Xynew and Gen swapped from entry to refrag. Xynew took point for Gen to get up close and heal. After which, he wide-swung from above, pushing the enemy straight into Gen.
    Imagine ADS-ing, being forced to respond and shoot back at someone at 20 meters away. Then someone wide swings past your screen (because he's closer) with an SMG. That's the easiest kill for the person on R99. Xynew barely took any damage the entirety of that fight thanks to Zer0 and Gen's entries. Entry-fragging isn't just about dealing opening damage, its all about manipulating their positions, angles/LOS, and creating space for the REAL damage to come in. Entry-fraggers have often been the unsung heroes of CSGO, as its usually the refraggers who get the big numbers. Niko, Coldzera, flamie, hunter, shox, all in their prime were supported by selfless entries. Unless you're Xantares.

      As someone who main tanked in OW1, I would also like to present the example of playing Rein (German rectangle man). Yes he has a shield to block damage, but an invaluable part of his (and this really went for any main tank) kit was his ability to rip space away from enemies to allow his teammates to function more effectively and to give his enemies a more difficult fight. Disrupt you enemy's plans and position, and they have to then rely on split-second decision making while on the back foot

    Great video! I really like how you go through different examples. I disagree with your reasoning that fuse is not an anchor character however. In my opinion his abilities are less used for damage and more used for holding space and controlling it, like the area denying ult.

    • @MooreOverVO
      @MooreOverVO  11 місяців тому +35

      I can freely admit to not giving enough thought to Fuse before putting that line in. I do absolutely agree that Fuse can and will anchor and my goal was to primarily showcase him as an example of Reps’ Flex role. However I did not portray that in the finished product. Glad to have comments to point stuff out like this for the future. Cheers.

    I will always hold fast to the effectiveness of the compass in games like apex. When those Alliance coms were on and he said "stay behind me! behind me!", It would have been so much better to say "fall back north" instead.
    Calls like "enemies at 228°" when I can't ping exactly where they are have saved me many games.

  • @Uziimeister
    @Uziimeister 11 місяців тому

    I would add something to the Complexity example.
    You never blame your teammates mid fight, especialy in a comp enviroment. The sound in Apex is pretty awefull, you'll have chaotic coms, while somebody has to listen to their mates yelling makes the whole situation harder to play.

Why is it every player pro or casual can’t seem to stay focused through gunfire and explosions when that’s what you’re in every single game? Of course for all of this to work your teamates need to understand that ego chowing or overextending somebody in the open is a very stupid idea unless you have a teamate also shooting at the enemy like in the DZ vs Oxygen clip.
    Gen slid down the hill and shot at the other player but that could only work because zero was drawing agro and they weren't looking at Gen that time.
    So many times my randoms just go out in the open with no cover and get one clipped making it a 2v3. But yeah, that's ranked solo q I guess

    I think you miss the composition part. While fragger and anchor are positional within the game, IGL is only social. You are missing the floater/flanker position and end up having to go into this tangent on how it is more complicated than it sounds talking about how Hal is a fragger.

    So basically there position is based on the circumstances cause honestly giving a designated role and sticking to it sounds impossible based on the information in this video.. That to me makes more sense than assigning a role to a persons ability.. The only role that really matters is the leader, and the leader must be able to take the information fed to them from his team to make decisions and if they are down then the other two pull together and pick up the slack.. But this talk about anchor and fragger seems irrelevant. It relies mainly one the fight you are in in the moment and the legend being played..

    • @MooreOverVO
      @MooreOverVO  11 місяців тому +1

      This is not the takeaway I wish for you to have leaving this video. Anchor and fragger aren't just roles used in teamfighting, and I discuss during the video what these roles try to do outside of fights. From positioning to communication, there is a lot more to that.
      I did indeed say that circumstances can change how a team decides their entry and refragger. Yes, but that does not mean that teams don't have intended gameplans on how they take their fights. To come to the conclusion that none of that actually matters in the moment misses the teamwork that goes into these fights. The Dark Zero example indicates this by showing how DZ split the attention of Oxygen Esports with a preplanned attack.
      The BIGGEST mistake you can make, however, is leaving this with the belief that the IGL is the only important factor. That's the same as assuming a star player on a sports team is the only reason the team won. They are a big factor, yes, but they cannot do it alone. To only place the importance on the IGL is to both discredit the other members of a team and shift any blame away from the other players when things go wrong. The IGL is just as important as every other player on the team, and the roles they have to fill are just as valuable.

    Bro you couldn’t have fine tuned this video before putting it out? It’s so well made but the logic is ridiculous. I don’t want to swear or insult you because there’s true potential in this video but it’s lost in some confusion seemingly coming from your interpretation of synergy. The art of “team fighting”?? You couldn’t just call it teamwork like that’s literally what it is it’s team work bro it’s not this complex elaborate idea teamwork has existed since the dawn of civilization . Bringing it to life and making it work is complex but not the concept. Your basically saying “in life there’s ppl who try and people who do….but some people who do do think and some people who think who do do” like it would be close minded to believe people soley live in one category but you use the concept of categories to explain teamwork just to then fall through the logic you just explained. these players are at the top of the skill gap so DUH they’re gonna be able to play multiple roles but you pointing that out with labels and made up hybrid categories is I’m sorry but idiotic. For example with TSM Hal is IGL, Repz is Fragger, and Verhulst is Anchor THATS IT. Them all doing well are pouring onto others doesn’t change anything because at their core they are just that. You’re micro managing the details and i can’t hate you for it because it clearly comes from a place of wanting to share the beauty in the details of this game but you gotta stabilize your brain. It feels like you made this video while having an episode of ADHD like the concept for this video is amazing and the style and music but Jesus Christ is it all over the place
