I'm bad for gatekeeping characters I play, and would like cypto to be reverted. It'll reveal the true Crypto mains that doesn't rely on invis(or think it is is the best and only part of his kit)

We've had a pretty diverse meta all year. Each LAN has been something different. This is the first time I've ever made something commenting on a meta, cause myself and I know many of the pros genuinely don't think its healthy for both playing in it and for viewers.
@@JumbaGW this what kinda annoys me, back in the day, gibby valk and even watson were meta for multiple season on end and barely anybody complains but when crypto has a season of being meta people get mad. its almost like people dont want crypto to ever be good? what is that double standards.
@@kyureevsI’m not sure about that. I remember a lot of pros complaining about that meta lol. A lot of them hated playing gibby, then eventually valk once gibby was not in meta.

@@kyureevs yeah that’s kind of my point to @JumbaGW . there’s a single lan where Crypto is good and there’s content by a big Apex creator made, but nothing for the impossible to watch Bang/Blood/Caustic meta? or anything else? the meta is the most diverse it’s been, this seems like the worst time to make something like this. it’s like it’s content being made to lobby a particular legend out of the meta. he’s been able to EMP, see legends around, get banners, res, literally everything besides being invisible for how long?
Valk's new buffs definitely compete with crypto for rotates. Unfortunately there will always be a scan legend in the meta, it seems like respawn wants it this way. As soon as Teq was using Crypto in a non scan way, by using EMP while in the Alter void, they removed it from the game. So lame IMO.

I wish they kept that, the meta was very defensive (watson, cat walls, new castle and crypto drone watching your back) it would have been nice to give the option for teams to have an aggressive comp as well. I legitimately think a few teams would have taken it up.
Yes unfortunately there will always b wall hack meta despite the developers lying about them wanting to change it but valk is literally the healthiest scan legends because her walkhacks are almost never used in the middle of a fight just information

After everything I talked about invis, I don't necessarily think it should be taken away. I think the drone should break after being in the zone for a period of time.

A 25-30second timer on how long he can be invisible plus a cooldown is a quick fix

Crypto is actually so hard that without any further balance changes he’s falling out of meta. Sure there’s a few teams running him but a majority of teams have moved onto picks like bang, NC, Cat, Wattson, Valk, etc
I agree with a lot of what you said about crypto for comp. But a lot of what you said about what makes him op for comp makes him a lot more fun for ranked. So I’m afraid we’ll change him too much for comp while missing out on the strategy that he gives ranked play

there should be a timer on invisibility, cyrpto shouldn't be allowed to sit idle in his invis form for 5 minutes in a BR, that's just rediculous
Have him stay visible, a crypto player should know how to position themselves while in drone. Have him become invisible to enemy scans (not seen by blood scans etc)
Honestly, having the one of the, if not the most, difficult and complicated legend be meta is WAY more engaging that seer or blood meta. Skill ceiling with blood and seer meta was incredibly low as all you had to do was press q and you get complete info. Whereas with Crypto, you have to give up mobility and rely heavily on coordination in order to successfully push and win fights. There could be an argument made about slightly nerfing his invisibility but his value that people see now has ALWAYS been there. He is the one legend that is the definition of what it means to be rewarded when playing with skill and coordination.
Agree, definitely takes time to learn and should be an important legend to play with a high skill level. Wish they kept the option of teqs alter/crypto combo, cause I do think a few teams would have taken the aggressive approach in a very defensive meta.

they should add a mechanic where the longer Crypto stay in drone, the more visible he becomes, to counterplay his soundless stance

So I don’t play Apex anymore but I’m an old crypto main, his kit was always pretty good in my opinion and very well thought out in terms of usability.His kit was always this good it’s just no one used him since to do anything you had to be stationary. Crypto didn’t suddenly change overnight he was always like this, the only changes that were the cherry on top was the ability to grab banners n hit revives with the drone which made sense in character, he’s literally a hacker. When utilized to his utmost potential I dare say he is the best recon specialist in any comps. Bloodhound may still be picked over him because you can fight and recon at the same time. But if you know anything about informational warfare, then crypto is your best bet. Just knowing how many squads are nearby from checking the banners periodically can let you know if a fight is free or heck leaving your drone to cover a flank angle and listen for the scan sounds ques while you clean up a fight. His kit was tailor made to be used strategically. It may not be popular often but when used properly he is one of the best.
Edit- As for the full on invis, cmon respawn what was u thinking. Should it be some type of stealth yes, full on invis- HELL NO. You can’t just disappear off the map no trace but a sound if you’re near. It should be similar to mirage cloak when ulting, or even a slight bit better but not full on invis.
Well to be fair... If bloodhound could still abuse ulti with bang smoke... Crypto being invisible wouldnt have been a big deal. He can get scanned while invisible( i think). Would have been way more BH in the lobbies to where Cryptos perk would have been somewhat pointless.
Agreed it was more than just crypto going invis that brought him into meta it was also that the counters to his invis were nerfed within the past 6 months to a year so when he got his invis perk no one wanted to use BH(tactical just straight up scans an Invisible crypto as you thought), Seer(heartbeat still appears) or Valk(scan's invisible crypto when flying from balloons or her ult) so they also played crypto plus as mentioned in the video crypto is good for pushing Wattson teams and makes it possible to nade them and Newcastle teams out
"Hurdur i got scanned and they get free reset" is basically what this video is, these pros are the reason why casuals can't enjoy the game. Crypto, akimbo, and edistric is fun and if they start balancing for the top 1% then this game will die. Which by the way, it already is.

my point is, Crypto has been like this, being able to scan beacons, grab banners, etc, but now since he can go invisible they want the devs to nerf him, the same was with valk,, with seer, with horizon, is just always the same, they are gonna be complaining always no matter what

Nerfs: Should know how to position yourself for drone, no more invisibility.
Perk will now make him invisible to enemy scans, can't be scanned by other drones, bloodhound scan, seer heartbeat sensor etc.
Buffs: survey beacon can be scanned from all angles (it hacks it, why do I need to see the front of the beacon?)
All legends in portals no longer take damage. (In a defensive meta, it would be nice to give the option to have more aggressive plays available, no more damage while in wraith, ash or alter portals while EMP is active)
All the pros saying Crypto makes the meta "not good" and "boring" say that every time the meta changes. We've had Gibby, Caustic, Wraith, Horizon, Cat meta for several seasons. It's time that comp changes and Crypto is a nice shake up. As a Crypto main we've all seen his potential and this is honestly his peak moment.

As a season 5 Crypto main, I find it SO satisfying that he's meta now. He's always had a cracked kit, but NOW?? Ha, how the tables have turned.
People,especially Pro's are always complaining and they will always complain. There will never be a point when everyone is satisfied. I feel like crypto is ok, Let his META remain for 1-3 seasons then they will change the invisibility perk. Let them cycle different metas. Bangalore,Newcastle,Horizon,Catalyst and Seer have been Meta for a really long time,so they should let Crypto breathe.
I also feel like they should make a special apex for ALGS and for normal people because the way Pro's dictate the meta and balancing and all that is kind of boring.
Asking for changes to things that are unbalanced is not complaining, and there's nothing wrong with people discussing what they feel is best for the game. Pro's get clipped once out of a 9 hour stream and everyone says they constantly complain. If the devs wanna keep crypto strong, cool, but things like the drone being able to remain in zone indefinitely shouldnt exist. How is it fair teams that played better lose points cause someone sits invisible?
Also bangalore is probably the only character that has been meta for an extended period, we've had changing metas all year 4

@@JumbaGW I hear you but I am not the only one who has noticed that Pro's dictate the game,On Reddit,facebook and twitter people are always complaining that Pro's are given more attention when it comes to balancing and not the casuals.
They complain way more than once, there are many posts on twitter of them complaining about a lot of things.
I agree that year 4 has had a changing but my point is that its unfair that the "Fuse Motherload Evac tower Meta" was nerfed way quicker than everything else,when the "Seer Scan Meta" or the Catalyst Meta or the "Bang Bloodhound meta" was allowed to run for longer.
Lmfao crypto is honestly not that bad it's just a different meta I like crypto and New Castle in the meta it's a cool new change in my opinion

I agree. I just think they need to make the invisible on a timer so they spend less time on the drone and being invisible. Meta was mainly boring because you had like 5 drones flying around and no one would make plays because another team on a drone would see it and would third party immediately. What if they make the invisibilty only if enemy out of range, example, 15-20m away. But can see him if inside the radius. Can balance it out i think in my opinion

Personally as a crypto main, I'd remove the invisibility and make it that he becomes invisible to scans, no longer picked up by drone, heard by heartbeat sensor etc.
I wish they had of kept the option of teqs comp with crypto and alter, I honestly think half the teams would have played taken the option to play aggressively in the this defensive meta.
Would have been nice to see the contrast.
I can't wait for Respawn/EA to do a TDM mode where all characters/abilities/guns get reverted back to either Season 0/1 or their strongest state and then watch everyone implode about how broken everything is. Every 3 months there's always some character or gun that's 'broken'.
All I’m gonna say is pros complained about PF meta when “it’s just ppl griefing scrims” it’s okay for multiple zips mid-endgame sending on teams. Pros don’t know how to adapt and that doesn’t always mean be the same
Shoutout to Hakis making ppl watch endzone close for 5 mins while he wasnt touching his keyboard. A nice civil protest to a boring meta.

I've mained Crypto since release and almost everything you've mentioned was possible prior to these changes but he was rarely played in pro. The only abuse I see here is the invisibility, and honestly I can go back to living without it (it does make for some epic respawn plays, although it's a little cheesy). Respawn has recently nerfed the range of beacon scan, which has felt good, and they could go ever further and remove a bunch of these no name POI beacons.
If they improve the invisibility sound to much than the draw back will be negate the perk and players will revert back to being silence in a corner oppose to having a kill me sonar. If they add a shimmer, the talent is dead in the water. It's more likely they increase the ultimate cool down and give an option in tier 1 to reduce the cool down, bringing it back to the original duration (is anyone picking the range on tier 1?). Really outside the box would be to prevent the ultimate from charging while invisible or even deplete your ultimate charge to remain invisible but this would be very punishing for new players but then again we don't balance for the new players.
This might be an unpopular opinion but placement over kills is the real issue here and crypto is simply exposing it. You only push into other teams if you must and with his recon kit you can punish an incoming push or counter other defensive teams when it's time to push. You're only EMPing 15 players in the end game because everyone and their mother are still alive. You can see Respawn toying with new ideas to encourage fighting with their new game modes, the current BR system is stale dated and I'm awaiting a shakeup.
As a main myself, I personally view it as I need to position myself if I want to use the drone. I personally think they should make him invisible to enemy scans - always, not just in drone (not seen by heart beat sensor, blood scans etc) and keep him visible to the eye.
As for the beacon change, I actually liked it prior to the change myself as I would leave the drone out in front of a beacon and I wouldn't use it until there was a squad nearby. If there wasn't and we were leaving the area, I'd wait to get to max range and quickly scan it then to maximize the distance between the beacon and my destination with the information as well as throw off enemies thinking I'm standing in front of it.

Nah, hard disagree with this. From watching Seer, Cat, Bang for how ever long that lasted, no meta will be worse than that screen clusterfuck. Except this Mozam meta currently.

Limit how long you can be invisible for maybe but he is a hacker. He's meant to be "Off the grid". Hes meant to be strong in being recon. He's meant to be able to be amazing when it comes to having and getting information.
As a main Crypto player, I can personally say this is probably the worst season for Crypto mains. Now, let me explain. He needs a buff since back in Season 4-a proper buff, not some over-the-top buff-but in the back of my mind, I'm like, "What if they buff him to the point where he's actually a nuisance and everyone starts picking him?" And look and behold, it happens. I'm sorry to say, but I have been strongly of this opinion for the years I've played Apex. Crypto doesn't need a buff; he needs a rework because him being a 50/50 pick in a battle royale, which he's not suited for, is crazy to me.

That, I agree with.
I feel like this meta is still way better than a Blood-Bang meta where every team are forced to pick Bloodhound or else they won't have an out to Bang smoke or being able to gain the advantage in the smoke while Crypto becomes an almost must pick in this meta because Newcastle and Wattson are meta but Newcastle and Wattson never do anything oppressive that's why it doesn't feel that bad to not have Crypto against both of them. If Respawn wants to shift the meta then nerfing Wattson might be a better solution since it will encourage people to play another recon like Bloodhound to counter Crypto since Wattson won't be as dominant compared to every other controller anymore which makes Crypto less viable.
Killed the same squad 3 times and really just chased them across an entire ranked lobby. I'm wondering if they actually added any countermeasures to fight him. Did you know you cant even move an invisible crypto which makes him all the more broken.
The thing is they can easily fall into the trap R6 has done multiple times, which is make decisions based on the competitive side of the game when most of the time the casual side sees no problem with it and piss off the casual side of the game
they will refuse to nerf akimbo mozams for another 6 months but will need cryptos drone so it has a smaller ult range and instantly gets destroyed outside of zone

Crypto been doing all these things since day 1, yet his pick rate was 1%. The invisibility isn’t all that either, just give it a timer and cooldown and most problems go away. The real problem is EMP is too good with no counters. Remove the scan on EMP at least
Yea I think the mozam aren’t helping because the emp helps thrive off of instant strong burst damage. But no one considered crypto viable without the invisibility despite that he could do everything else mentioned before

My idea to nerf crypto is that he can't go invis when he is alone. I think that would give him the freedom to do recon things while the team needs it, but he cant just survive alone in invis drone mod.

he won't get nerfed that hard all at once. Respawn never nerfs a character to an unusable point in one patch. It took a year of patches to bring both seer and BH to a point of being weak. And they absolutely wont revert invisibility which is the best part of his kit
True, and maybe people will find ways to play around the invisibility, like focusing his drone as quickly as possible, so the complaints stop.

I get that Crypto might be a little broken for competitive apex, however crypto now is a fun and useful legend and not the niche boring legend he used to be. I'm my opinion the devs should only nerf him in competitive apex!

This video is a testament to the issue of comp in apex. Too much variety and viability in this game that we’ve convinced ourselves of one play style. To sum up there’s nothing wrong with crypto. Overuse is what’s most OP about crypto. Most teams don’t even have a natural crypto player he’s so forced it’s sad to see good players get packed bcuz they don’t know what they’re doing💀😂

They should keep the invisibility and nerf every other aspect of his kit. Because if they remove invisibility then no one will play him again. Invis just makes him viable but invis plus everything else is op.
They should just make it so when your nearby him he becomes camouflage but not fully invisible like from titanfall 2 or similar to sombra from overwatch or stealth characters in paladins. That would stop end game solo rats and still allow you to play aggressive by having no los on enemies from a distance.

Crypto Invis should be scannable, he should defo be showing up on heartbeat sensor. I think that's the only change that needs to happen. Drone taking zone damage isn't a good idea at this point in time either.
Maybe also make Gibby bubble an insulator. I don't think full nerfs are the best way to go, but rather allowing for there to be Counter options in other character's kits.
It's crazy that it took so long and for invis to make crypto popular when he countered so many previous metas!

ok i just wanna say cryptos speed boost perk is super fun and good too if your a pro maybe ya pick the scan thing all the time but as a crippy main i can attest that both lev 3 upgrades are nice.... also crypto losing invs dosn't fix this issue its crazy how much people are pay attention to him now just cause of 1 perk and it's not like you can't scan him and find him..... pros just need to adapt as his info game has been there since day 1 along with rez abilitiy
Players can relate to a game through sound, site and control. Crypto breaks two of those rules. Any developer with a brain should know invisibility has no place in a competitive game. It's just lazy

didnt agree/didnt like a lot of what u said in this video but im mainly a pretty bad pubs player and i dont watch pro tournaments so its hard for me to have a compelling argument against this video. part of me however is very happy with how crypto is finally getting recognition to a wide audience. this is a representation of cryptos strong points that maybe not everyone understands, and many aspects that didnt even require tangible buffs, which people didnt realize for a long time.
ive mained crypto since season 3 and even though ive never caught onto pro play, i could tell he was consistently an extremely low-pick-rate character in any format of apex. i could see how many people didnt find him fun (stereotypical examples being octane, wraith, etc) and in higher ranks (where people care more about winning) he was kinda just overshadowed by other scan characters throughout seasons. people didnt see a reason to play crypto, which really makes me sad.
but seeing all these top players use crypto and reveal so much about the character, some things i didnt even know after so many hours of maining him, its a great feeling in that way. im sure a lot of the other day 1 crypto mains are happy about that too!
but i could also see a lot of day 1 cryptos like myself getting frustrated at players who pick up crypto only because he is now considered viable. people who pick characters only because theyre powerful (players called "tier whores") are much more frowned upon and uncommon in some other competitive games i play, like fighting games. why are apex pros like this? do they not believe in their favorite characters? do so many of these players really only care about the win? id like to think they werent like this before. they must have been like me, playing for enjoyment, the focus being on the actual fun of these characters that help make apex unique from any other game. what changed?
but maybe apex is just that kind of game. its a better investment to understand the fundamentals of the game, rather than the personality of the character. a battle royale shooting game like this puts a lot more emphasis on the tools you need that are always accessible to everyone, regardless of the character you choose. there are other hero shooters out there but i dont really pay attention to their competitive scenes as much, so maybe i should see what those games like overwatch and rainbow six do the same or differently.

I feel like the cryptos in current is still kinda useless like if you know where the drown came from just head straight toward him if he isn’t paying attention and it’s a 2v3 if you’re fighting or playing with a crypto since their always on their drone
