Thank so very much for putting the spotlight on a Clevelander EDWIN STARR. I know members of his family today . You did this brother proud. Seeing the photo of the group THE FUTURE TONES, I saw the image of Russell Evans who was the guitarist for the O'JAYS up until his death. It does my soul good to so these types of programs it gives me the opportunity to teach our young people about our great artist. I could say more about our dear brother Edwin Starr. But you did him justice. thank you!
Artist's like Edwin made my youthful musical landscape so rich. 25 Miles and War! How many duets I've sang with him when no one was around. Btw...War! is still relevant today. Still, no one is listening.
I just found out about this channel last week and I been hooked ever since. Great commentary and great original DJ voice we don’t hear these voices anymore
It's just like a white man to say to a black soul singer his music isn't funky enough.I would lose my shit too like James Brown. The Payback was perhaps one of the most funky James Brown hits ever.
Just short note you didn't mention the 1980 European tour with Marvin Gaye as support group Edwin did two tours of Europe the first Tour was in 1979 at that time with Kyle Management I played Drums for Edwin on both those tours the second Tour with Marvin Gaye was sold out all over Europe and was a fantastic experience and the highlight of my musical career we played the Albert Hall. God blessed me to be on the stage with such immortals of Music. LIfe's Music Is Best !
I listened to my older brother's records and Edwin Starr was among them. The other Ric-Tic records by J. J. Barnes, Fantastic Four, Detroit Emeralds, and Al Kent are still being played in my house. Good music from Detroit. Ed Wingate made some great records
Many of Edwin's US records were absolute floor fillers on the Northern Soul Scene in the UK - Time along with Stop Her On Sight, Agent Double O Soul got every one of the feet after half a bar of the intro! What a fabulous singer who like Jimmy Rufin we took to our hearts in the UK . RIP Edwin & Jimmy we love you Guys - Yet Again Wonderful Tribute Chance B- Thank You, Sir.
The music business is complicated and ball of confusion the artists are used and backbiting each other and being moved around like chess members on a black and white board. Thank you for your research on double o soul aka Edwin Starr is work well done.
I loved parts 1 & 2 of his story. Thank you for this. One of my favorite Starr songs is Music Brings Out the Beast in Me. I had to give that disco era cut an honorable mention.
THIS IS ONE SINGING MAN!!! On Twenty-Five Miles - my footsteps can be heard to BUT not on the record!!! The story behind I LOVE YOU FOREVER & OH HOW HAPPY were very interesting! Billy Eckstine did a good version of Oh How Happy when he was on Motown.
FANTASTIC STORY AND BEAUTIFUL NARRATION ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I thoroughly enjoyed Edwin Starr. I remember most of the songs from this story! Some we danced 💃💃to and some we listened to. Thank you for your outstanding work 💎.

Hi, I enjoyed your two-part story of Edwin very much, thanks. Lots of info here. I only got to see him just the once, but what a performance! Cheers.

Can you do one on Don Davis from Detroit?
War (Edwin Starr), and I Seen Fire and I Seen Rain (James Taylor) two of the roughest songs I listened to when I was in

Ain't that, a blip cohen telling James it ain't funky enough.... He is trying to say it's not black enough..... Damn
One of the many overlooked Motown artists......
Hey! Can you please do a story on The People's Choice.
