To this day Braveheart is still in my top 3 favorite movies of all time. Lost count how many times I've watched it. Always loved a behind-the-scenes docu they did during the shooting - there was a shot of him holding a small book "Directing An Epic For Dummies" - someone in the crew had made up as a joke. Thought that was funny as hell.

I felt like apocalypto was too long and yet braveheart is quite a bit longer but feels much shorter to me when I am watching it lol. I cant explain exactly why. The soundtrack to braveheart is one of the reasons the film is so cherished. I listen to it regularly even 25 years later.
Now I realize that his charm, in addition to being handsome, was always looking like a teenager. His gestures are typical of a person very young and full of life. I am from Philadelphia and in 1999 I went over to Australia for about two months to travel around and unbeknownst to me I picked up in Australian accent. It was so good that I played around a golf with two locals north of Sydney and they didn't know until the 17th hole that I was from America. They thought I was pulling a fast one on them with the accent, but I just said it's something I normally acquired speaking to the people and just living there for that time. Upon coming home I had quite a hard deal in kicking the accent with people telling me that I was getting annoying using it, but I told him it was nothing I was doing on purpose. Gradually it faded away.

I had no interest in them. I'd rather read books. He liked to think of himself as lawyerly, and with common sense. Sure, big brained, he had that, but idk, I never got to his level and don't think I ever could have. It was a "from birth" kinda thing. I'm me, you're you, and he's he. Braveheart is phenomenal. One of the all time greats. The soundtrack takes half the credit. Its sublime.
