    How old was that PPF? I am curious to see how long it lasts before turning yellow

      Great question: Mine was 18 months old. Garage kept. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

      @@acautodetail829 wow that seems fast! Did it have a ceramic coat on it during that time? Does a ceramic coat help prevent ppf yellowing?

    • @acautodetail829

      @@Lifeneverlost it was not protected. I am hoping the new PPF does better. You can use ceramic coating on PPF.

    Where else did you apply it to other than the paint? I am coating a Model Y soon with a 30ml bottle. Planning on doing the paint, wheels, glass and all outside trim.

      I did paint and plastic. Make sure your glass is spotless clean before you do it. But you can coat anything. Also, make sure the brand you have is formulated for glass. Thanks for watching, have a great start to your 2024, Cheers!

    Will one need to wax the car at some point after this, or does ceramic coating take the place of waxing?

    • @acautodetail829
      @acautodetail829  4 місяці тому +1

      It takes the place. You can use a ceramic spray wax to refresh it, but regular waxing isn’t necessary. Or you could use ‘AMMO Hydrate’ when you wash your car to keep your ceramic coating looking it’s best. Here’s a video: ua-cam.com/users/shortsMQxdxdwOr5c?si=D2o30cYtMigNSnUi

      The car had been recently polished. Polishing is a necessary step for optimal results, however, not every DIY enthusiast has a Rupes available. I wanted to show a minimum effort maximum result example. I’m sorry about any disappointment. Cheers!

    With ceramic coating do you get protection from stone chips

    • @Lifeneverlost
      @Lifeneverlost Рік тому +1

      I have seen multiple places say it does NOT help with rock chips and you need to do PPF to help with that.

    • @acautodetail829
      @acautodetail829  Рік тому

      Great Question: Ceramic coating is a great protection against road dirt and light scratches, but impacts that could potentially chip the paint would still be able to do so, even after ceramic coating. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

    How long does this last?

    • @acautodetail829
      @acautodetail829  Рік тому

      It depends on the conditions the vehicle is stored in, and how the vehicle is cared for, as well as miles traveled, but 6 months to 2 years is the most common. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

    Thanks for the video, how many bottles of Avalon King Armor Shield IX did you use? and how many layers did you apply? Thank you so much!

    • @acautodetail829
      @acautodetail829  Рік тому +6

      I applied one layer, and it took the whole bottle. I probably over lubricated the pad, but I wanted to make sure I was getting a good coat. I think if you were more careful, and spent more time, you could get two coats out of one bottle. I hope this answers your question. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

      I would recommend Iron remover for a dirty car. This vehicle was cleaned with iron remover and clay less than 30 days before the coating. But, if it had not, I would have used it. Thanks for the suggestion, Cheers!

    Nice work. How long did this entire process take you?

    • @acautodetail829
      @acautodetail829  Рік тому +1

      Great Question: The wash and prep is about an hour. The clay bar also takes about an hour. The ceramic coating can be 1-2 hours depending on how many layers and the climate conditions. All in all it’s a morning and afternoon including set up and clean up. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

    If I’m taking delivery of my MYLR do I need to wash it before ceramic coating?

    • @acautodetail829
      @acautodetail829  Рік тому +3

      Yes. You don’t know what prep your car has been through when you take delivery, and every model and delivery experience can vary in many ways. Always play it safe and wash, clay bar, and IPA wipe before you ceramic coat. It will significantly increase the life of the coating, and provide good value. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

      For professional results, this is accurate. This is a DIY, not a professional job. Not everyone has a polisher. Not everyone can polish by hand. Also, it’s a white car. The car doesn’t look like I ruined it. Maybe I did. Sorry to disappoint.
