When I saw you went to olvera st My eyes bugged out my head! My mother used to get me out of school and we would go once a week in the 60's 70's!!! I remember those taquitos !!!never forgot them and now I'm 65! She was such a pro she would put the sauce on the side because they kept the crunch! Tried for years to make there sauce....never came close!!thank you for bringing me some of the happiest times on earth! Gotta go cry now! Thank you!!!!!!!!!
You made my day, I left California 6 years ago and I'm missing all those great locations in Los Angeles. It was 55 years ago when I first went to Cielito Lindo for the taquitos and I went to Phillips's just before leaving LA. I also can't find dim sum in the Detroit area to match my favorite place in Chinatown. Maybe someday I'll be back. Thank you Bill and Lisa for the smile.
I have gone there since the 50's but over the past 50 yrs I've lived in San Clemente, last city in Orange County at the southern tip of it, so don't get up there anymore. The beef dips are the best!! It was so nice to see the inside again, it looks just like I remember it. My mouth was drooling!! Thanks for the memories, Melaney from SoCal.
I’ve never been to LA but damn your city looks awesome the food and culture so diverse . Having my usual cup coffee while watching your videos always love them
Gosh, I've been to Olvera St a few times in the 90's and yet never really ventured to the end of the row of shops where Cielito Lindo is located. I typically grab something at the restaurant at the opposite end where folks normally enter after coming from the parking lot across the street. Wasn't till I saw Cielito on some foodie vid years ago and learned it was so popular. Can't for my next trip to the USA and make it to these same places. As always, enjoying your food reviews and travel adventures!
Thanks for sharing the video Bill and Lisa. Everytime i watch your video I feel I'm going vacation virtual. I too afraid to go vacation because of delta variant virus. Hope your guys are safe and well. Also have fun in vacation.
Soo happy Olvera st opened again. I grew up going there and with my mom before she passed..i was so sad when i heard they closed during the pandemic..Thanks for the footage. I grew up in LA but live in Vegas now..i miss LA and yes the smell of the taquitos. My friend would hop out of my car and buy a box of taquitos to go. Stay safe!
Thank you for this tour of LA! It was great, and yummy, tour! The siu-yuk (roast pork) was the highlight - perfect with the crunch! The mochi-rice, with chicken, wrapped in lotus leaf looked great - hope you tried! Looking forward to the next tour! Best wishes and much 🧧!
I ❤️ love your video's you guys make me hungry watching you guys bless me too your a awesome couple God bless you 🙏 and your family keep up the wonderful work 😊 ❤️
Yum guys that was great! Next time you go to Vegas you'll have to try that Tom Tom restaurant that does Pork Katsu, it looked soo good! Lucky you in LA
I’m sooo glad I can say that I have been to one of your spots!! I did that tour in 2019, and it was so much history in those areas. There was an Indian Dance Company performing at the park across the street, an unforgettable experience😀😀👍🏽👍🏽!!
Lol ❤ all the Buc ees shirts...few weeks ago for some reason I had a strong craving for the taquitos and had to take me a 2hr trip...any excuse to go L.A. 😂
I'm just like you Lisa, I remember going to Olvera St. , Phillippes and Chinatown with my grandparents back in the day all in one day when I was little. We need to go back and re-live those memories!
You guys should try the French restaurant on 7th and Grand in downtown LA. It’s really good (if it’s still there). I used to go often and loved the vibe.
@bill and Lisa....you MADE OUR DAY!!! thank you for shouting out Madeleine in this video! I didnt know if you would have time to shout her out but you guys did!!! You made us soooo happy and I'm so thankful for you taking time out of your day to do so. Keep on rocking!! we love your videos!
I love and miss 😍 the taquitos!!! 😋🤤…I agree Phillips has it hits and misses…I wish it was more consistent. Last time I went it was really salty…I like the mustard sauce …I never been to CBS, I think ☺️ looks yummy…I go to Won Kok for dim sum, it’s cheap and good 👍🏽
Philippe's is the BEST, nothing else even close. I also love the lemonade and custard. Always get it double dipped!!! Love the mustard as well. I live in Utah and always bring home 'dry' beef sandwiches for lunch the next week.
Those French dips are absolutely delicious! My daughter took me to the art museum downtown last Thursday and we stopped there first for French dips. We got it double dipped and we asked for a side of the juice. We got greedy. Lol so so delicious. 😋 we went to Grand Central market and got a margarita pizza to take home that was amazing also.
What fun, Like a progressive lunch or dinner. If you return to San Francisco, you can have fun doing the same down Clement Street. Eat a dish here and there. Roast Pork is a very special treat.
If anyone recreates this foodie tour you can also start/end with a cold beer inside Union Station at the Imperial Western Beer Company. It’s a beautifully restored space inside the station.
Next time you go to Phillipe, make sure it is a Tuesday when they have the French Onion Soup. Get the Lamb Double Dipped with the soup. It is off the hook!
Hi Bill and Lis, 3 of my favorite places. I just retired from LA City Fire Department and worked at City Hall and frequented these places on a regular. If you like pickled beets, you must try them at Phillippes, they are so good. I am not a fan of Jewel of New Orleans, the beignets were terrible, the Poor boys are okay but nothing like being in New Orleans. Stay Blessed.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you so much for the birthday shout out I greatly appreciate it. I love you both. Great video and have a fantastic weekend
So funny you guys born and raised down there....even worked for the Daily Breeze...but Retired from Hughes Aircraft which is now Boeing...and Bill my ex-husband worked at LAX

Yeah I first went to Cielto Lindo in 1965 age 6, love that place. We went there for years after Ram or USC games.
A magnificent tour of what to do and eat in downtown Los Angeles, thank you for sharing👏👏

Cieloto Lindos looks yummy! I’m way the heck over in Fla so I do t know where I would find something as good.
I love hearing Jose Alfredo Jimenez’s El Rey song in the background 🙏🙌 Olvera st is a cool spot! The parking is a bit sketchy though lol

My favorite Phillipe’s combo is Lamb single dip with mustard, cole slaw & lemonade.
Double dip lamb with a thick slice of bleu cheese 👍🏽
Yes, the lamb is the winner. Most people order the beef and they will never know what they are missing. Turkey is boring, never tried the roast pork.
loved 💙 the food tour 🌮🥖🍖 i'm getting so hungry 😋
GREAT VIDEO THANKS FOR THE TOUR
My mouth is watering!
Thanks fun to watch 😻
Thanks for the birthday shout out!
How many buccee’s shirts did you buy? Fried Tacos , French dip , and pork .
