Scotty, should I buy a 2016 Rav4 hybrid with 50k miles?
I live in The Dominican Republic and have both Land Cruiser in Diesel and Gasoline. We also have Land Cruiser Prado in Diesel and Gasoline. Which one you recommend, Diesel or gasoline?
Hey, Scotty when should I change the transmission fluid and filter on my 2016 Passat 1.8? It has never been changed it has 100,000 on it now.
Original owner here of 2012 FJ. 100k miles. A true 4WD. Tank.
Sounds really nice. Ever take it off-roading
Gu patrol
Got the 2007 159,000 🙃💪🏽🖖🏽
204K on mine.
I doubt I’ll ever have to buy another car.
@chdnorm you'll probably die before the cruiser. not to be cruel but seriously if u want u can get 500k plus miles
I had a 2010 FJ. 275000 miles only replaced the thermostat and rear breaks. Sold it in 2020 and the guy is still driving it.
💯💯
There's no way rear brakes lasted 275K and you didn't need front pads.
Brakes. Not breaks
@@VideoArchiveGuy well maybe they were replaced before I bought it at 40k. But no I never changed them. Or maybe it was because 90% of my driving was 90 miles of highway driving round trip to work.
Im blessed with my grandfather’s 1 owner 6sp FJ with 48,000miles. He gave it to me for $8000. Freaking love that man.
Wow! You are blessed. Take care of that thing. Good luck and enjoy.
Bought one new and at 150K had a lightbulb burn out. Best Vehicle I have ever owned.
A Toyota with only 75,000k miles for less than $20,000?! The entire car industry is shocked!
Lol
I looked at a 2012 FJ Cruiser with over 110k miles on a Carfax website, and it's worth 18 grand. Mind blowing 😮😮
And I'm mad as hell
Lmao
And crapping their pants!
Where I'm from, the FJ's last year was 2023. I was going to get one, but ended up with a Land Cruiser Prado V6. Both reliable badass vehicles built like tanks! 👍
Thanks mate.
Where did they make fj in 2023? I had both Prado and an fj and fj was much more reliable
@@alexmack956 FJs were sold in the Middle East until last year. It's odd that your FJ was more reliable than your Land Cruiser Prado. Was it a diesel engine? And what model year and trim level was it? Did it have KDSS?
I have a 2007 I bought for $13,900 with 110,000 now it has 200k miles on it and still runs like new. It's paid off I'm never getting rid of it. One of the most reliable cars I've ever owned
I have a 2014 FJ 44k miles and 2010 Tacoma 102k miles, both with the 4.0L V6. I'm not a fan of these new small displacement turbo engines.
I just found one with 79,000 on it and snatched it up. Love these vehicles. At my age it's the last car I ever need. Maybe I'll get another one and build a fleet.
I own a 2011 Honda Element. Best car I’ve ever owned but Honda quit making them in 2011. This car should be on this list for sure.
I have a 2014 FJ Cruiser 4x4 loaded. Arizona car only 125,000 miles. I'm 64 years old, it might be the last car I own.
I can buy in case you want to sell it
Don't say that; you have a long and happy life ahead of you, and you'll change many cars but keep this one 🎉🎉
I bought my 07 in 2008 second owner had 15000 miles . Fast forward to 2024 still driving it and loving it .
Bro!! how come every time I'm looking at some cars i'm interesting in Scotty comes out with a video about it?? I'ts like he's reading my mind from far away.
My elderly neighbor has an FJ Cruiser. Has 12,000 original miles. Perfect shape----showroom shape. He bought it new on a fluke and is one of 4 cars he owns as a hobby.
I have a Toyota Hilux diesel and it's great and will likely outlive me. CAN YOU SAY DEPENDABLE? I DO THE MAINTENANCE IT JUST WORKS. I LOVE THE FACT YOU TWIST THE KEY AND IT GOES,
NO STUPID STUFF.
Friend's 2007 FJ with automatic transmission had over 345,000 and no problems and paint was still good too
Beautiful car. Wouldn’t mind adding another ice to my garage. I like older technology, simpler and practical.
FJ Hands down the most reliable car I own. It’s always there for me in any weather. I will own it forever
I'm new to this channel. This guy is awesome. He's like the Mad Hatter of cars!
Great observation....and comment. Welcome to the best show on UA-cam. I can't stop watching Scotty.
07 yellow 6MT with 205k. Love it.
🔥🤟🏻
2011 6MT with 208K, also love it.
2013 6MT TT 45,000 miles will never give it up…
Do you guys ever experience any slight issues with the 2-3 gear synchros. Mine grinds when it’s cold sometimes. I have to gently push it into gear. Typically tho I use 1-2-4-6 for most of my driving, I usually only use third for engine braking. Once it’s warm it seems to go fine
@@greggknight4641 No how many miles do you have, what is your set up and driving style? I have 45,000, have the TRD short shifter installed, and have a leisurely driving style. I have heard of this but with higher mileage. What is your set up
My brother bought one of these for his son down in Florida. It’s a great vehicle!!
Got my original 2007 FJ with 6 speed Manual full time 4wd and I get between 17 & 22 mpg. 125k miles. Best 4wd never stuck even in 35" of snow.
I have a 99 Land Cruiser for last 15 years, only 204000 miles, drive only winter in Michigan, never stopped in winter snow, still a champion, little rust but same engine and transmission, everything works, love it
I’m on my second one. The 1st I fell in love with almost instantly. Got into an accident, should have never sold it.
Just bought a 2012 trailteam last year. Love it. It’s got NJ rust but I’m hoping to save that. Worst case I’ll fabricate a new frame. Worth every penny.
FJ owners, they’re becoming wise that it’s a collectors item. The insurance companies, the dealerships. So every chance they get they’ll try to tell you you should sell it. I know a guy, minor bumper damage when someone drove into it parked.
Insurance tried to total it!
Get a lawyer. Keep your car. Mine is worth $5k more than when I bought it, and it’s going up.
I worked at Kinkos when I was 16 and there was a repeat customer that had a Toyota Celica with 775k miles on it. I was shocked then and am still shocked. A long with the entire industry of course...
I saw one of these about two weeks ago. It still looked brand new.
Not the same but kind of. I just bought an 08 Lexus LS460 with 275K and looks like it has less than $100k. Excellent condition. Mileage doesn’t really matter all that much if it was taken care of.
I love your enthusiasm for a well build car. Bad gas mileage but long life less costly maintenance and no hassle, that's a very fair trade off.
My friend’s FJ Cruiser certainly was a gas hog -and it rusted out way sooner than he expected it would.
Buy a real jeep Wrangler.
Definitely a gas hog !
@@Fuxerz Because you enjoy making monthly trips to your dealer for repairs?
Yea, that happens if you don't wash your car.
@@emilefragz1885happens if you don’t wash your car…..lmao….
Proud owner of first year 07 fJ cruiser with black cherry color that they discontinued 2 years later. Love it on and off road. Never give it up.
I believe the FJ and the 4Runner have the same engine. I have 2019 4Runner and i was thinking about selling but not for these new Toyota's . Ill keep mine
Fell in love with the FJ when they first got released and they showed a video of them in the sand climbing insane hills.
If I had either one of these SUV's, I'd definitely take them off-road. There are still plenty of dirt roads near me where they can be used. There are also plenty in some state forests and a national forest that's fairly close by.
When these first came out in the 2000s they were always head turners. That white roof and they usually had nice bright colored paint jobs, always popped when they passed by on the road
That’s one hell of a buy for $16k!
They cost more now than when they were new.
A client of mine has a 1989 FJ62 that they bought new, it's well used and still in excellent condition. I have been trying to buy it for 20 years... they aren't selling.
I am an old stump jumper and have owned many 4x4 s, From Farmall ,jeep, bronco, etc. The FJ is by far the best I have ever owned. If you have one, keep it. The new stuff is overengineered lunacy. Thanks again Diogenes
Scotty makes me feel proud to be Japanese.
U sure can
Lol
I only own Japanese... ONLY 4 life
A friend has had an FJ for 11 years. He loves it, and he also only uses occasionally. He has many cars.
I am an old stump jumper and have owned many 4x4 s, From Farmall ,jeep, bronco, etc. The FJ is by far the best I have ever owned. If you have one, keep it. The new stuff is overengineered lunacy. Thanks again Diogenes
PS They are so well-designed that you can change both headlight bulbs in 5 minutes and the lenses are glass so they never fog. The same exemplary quality exists thought the vehicle.
I test drove one when they first came out. Liked everything about it except that massive blind spot from that oversized rear pillar. Ended up with a 4Runner, but always think of the FJ fondly
2014 FJ 59k miles here, all stock . I love it! ❤
The steering racks are reliable but a fortune to replace and a headache if not done right. To anyone reading this, don't go aftermarket on it. Always go OEM.
Got a 2010 in arctic white. Bought in 2017 for 21k had 87k miles. Still going strong with 146k miles. It’s a refined beast. But really loves off highway terrain. Strange. During the pandemic they were selling used for close to 50k dollars. Strange that people were paying that much for them. Next Toyota for me would be a 2021-2023 4runner. TRD flavor.
Buy a 2023 4 runner and put it in storage. Probably a better return than the Dow over the next few years.
@@weirdshibainu lol agreed. Last of the original made in Japan with the V6. So easy to work on. Do my own oil changes and fluid changes. Do my own spark plugs.
Absolutely loved the FJ Cruiser.
This must hurt those of you in the US, but I own a 2022 FJ that I bought new a little over 18 months ago. 27,000 km's on the clock. I have heavily modified suspension for driving in the desert sand dunes of the UAE. What a vehicle, killed off by idiots outside the MENA market way before its time.
I've owned mine for 13 years. No plans to ever replace it.
Isn't a common complaint of the FJ Cruiser that it has massive blind spots because of how wide the rear pillars are?
Overblown complaint. I have an FJ and a Ford F150 with a cap on the back. The F150 is worse, Plus there is a back up camera on the FJ .
Have you never driven a Uhaul? Lol you can see a lot more than those so it's fine.
I just made a comment about this then found your comment. Yep they’re known for getting in accidents during lane changes due to poor visibility.
Yes but the bigger complaint is probably the minimal room in the back seat
Dually mirrors...simple fix
Glad i bought my 1999 LC a year ago.
Glad I bought my 2024 Land Cruiser (AKA 4Runner) in January.😁
Scotty Kilmer always on the ball
I have a 2000 Tacoma SR5 and I was so blessed to come across it. Manually locking front end 4WD, no rust.... A little tiny V6 truck that goes anywhere. I put chains on all 4 tires and go up my mountain driveway with 3 feet of snow in the winter, and everyone else is stuck at home.
I replaced the stereo with a pioneer single dem unit and threw a 35 watt booster in it. I drive down the road slowly like an old man and listen to CCR, happy.
I've pulled cars out of ditches, I've hauled my motorcycle across states. I bungee strapped a tote in the back and I load it up with groceries. I've loaded it up with wood for my deck...
I love this truck. It's small so I can actually drive and park in public with ease. I don't drive fast in the mountains, so it's perfectly fast for me.
All I have done is refill fluids, change the oil, upgrade the stereo, and put new tires on it. What a blessing from God.
It has a tonno cover (spelling?), and is all stock, and I freaking love it.
The only thing I need to do is replace the leaf springs, because I overloaded it when there was a wildfire and I had to evacuate my home and I put way too much stuff in it.
I am mad that nobody makes this kind of vehicle in the US anymore. I don't want a modern vehicle with computer controlled everything. I don't want a huge truck that you can't park in front of a mountain town shop or navigate up a narrow forest service road.
I want a new Toyota pickup with 4WD, locking diff, manual hubs, hydraulic power steering, and components you can change out in the driveway.
I own 2021 FJ cruiser and I love it .Japan just Stopped manufacturing last year 2023😢
I had a 2012 red trail teams edition. I traded it after I got married when it had about 112k miles. I miss it!
I was hoping for the Scion Tc to be on here. Literally a Toyota Corolla but more fun.
The only problem I had with mine had to replace the alternator twice. My fault .changing the oil filter if you're not careful you can spill some in it also the rear end breathing line stops up pretty easy. Blows the seals other than that 300000 miles
2002 suburban 1500. 268k miles
🔥🔥🤟🏻💯
I really like my 2015 Honda fit. It's a shame they stopped selling it here in the United States when they are still making it in Japan. If they made it here, I would get a new one.
I have a 2007 FJ with 345,000 miles on it. One of the best vehicles I've owned.
Honda Fit. It's not everything a car can be, but it's a fun-to-drive miniature station wagon you can easily carry a washing machine or chest freezer in and get 35+ MPG, cheap to buy and cheaper to own, easy to park anywhere. Absolute best bang for the buck. No longer sold new in the U.S, and the HR-V doesn't come close to filling the same role.
We were looking at one. 2009 with 250,000 kms, wanted $27,000. Windshields last about 2 weeks, and a gas piggy so we went with a 2016 CR-V. Not as cool, but much more practical.
i love my 2013 FJ Cruiser which I bought last year after listening to Scotty & his great advice.
Great advice? OMG that is a stretch.
I always liked the styling of the FJ Cruiser especially the doors.
Land cruisers dominate African, Asian, Middle East and Australian markets. I think in Brazil too
I love my FJ. But Frame rot is a very serious problem. Just like Tacoma. Have to be very pro-active in prevention. At 130k, my 14 runs like a Top. Just need to keep up with service and keep them away from the Dealer. 😊 Oh, and there is always the cheap hardware that rusts and breaks. Be ready to extract broken fastners and experiment with Riv-Nuts.
They are awesome.
I got a Jeep Gladiator (pray for me) but if the FJ Cruise was available I would have picked that thing up instead. :/
A Jeep Gladiator, my prayers have started for you. 😮
I would've picked a 4runner even if the FJ was still available. But to each their own 👍 Though, why not a Wrangler at least? I'd hate to park a Gladiator, lol
Huh I thought it was the fact that the structural bonding wasn't holding together and the structure was coming apart, well and the rust issue
The guy is clueless and doesn’t research before running his mouth.
Hummer h3 has entered the chat they never get love cheaper then fj and just as good imo if taken care of
💯🤟🏻
Junk
The female's Hummer. Isn't it just a body stuck on a Silverado truck?
My 2010 still runs great at 105k miles. I'm retired, so there are plenty of miles left in it.
I passed on getting one. The owners that I asked didn't like the doors. View from inside had too many blind spots.
Still my dream off roader.. soon enough!
Love the fj. 4runner is just as good if not better
Always wanted an FJ cruiser
Look how clean that thing is, it's never even seen a dirt road. What a waste :)
my favorite car. I was a Jeep guy until I rented one of these. I had to have it. 270k running stong. 👍
Jeep is for sheep
They just brought back the Land Cruiser as a Hybrid. It looks amazing.
The styling - like how Toyota just came out with the new Land Cruiser 1958 Edition.
Yes there's nothing wrong with having to replace the upright windshield every couple months to a few years at most.
More FJ cruiser videos please!!!!
Some parts are expensive but I was able to find one eighteen thousand and about one hundred and twenty thousand miles
I love my 2010 fj I Straight piped it all so
🤝💯
Great rig, but I'd miss taking the doors and top off. I wish they had made a convertible version.
I love my 2018 Lexus LX 570. Just wish they would fix the warping Rotor problem. I'm gonna have to switch to after marked Rotors and breaks soon.
Scotty for President 👍🏼
Saw a review on the new Land CRuiser, I think Toyota has taken a 4 Runner and named it Land Cruiser and raised the price. Plus the put a turbo 4 in there! What is Toyota thinking?? 4 Cyl Lnd Cruiser for $60k ??? That is crazy.
Simple fact is that the EPA and others just want ICE engines gone, so they just keep raising the bar.
No. Never change your oil when the engine is cold. It should be hot.
He means only that the filter wont drip oil because it fully drained overnight
My dad had a 2007 FJ that almost looked exactly like this one other than the black rims. See this brought back memories from when I was a kid riding in the back.
I have an FJ and love it .. only thing i dont like in it is the blind spot C pillar .. everything else love it.
There is no FJ blindspot. Learn how to position your mirrors.
I notice a lot of vehicles have this problem now days
@learjet45 There is , I've been driving it since 2016, only when trying to merge into a road at certain angle, if I move the mirror to a wide angle to see the incoming traffic it would be too wide of an angle for normal driving, there is a blind spot , I know my car, what you are suggesting is to work around the issue .
@@learjet45 don't talk stupid
@@ali229946 I bought one of those little convex round mirrors and stuck it on my drivers side mirror and it helped a bunch.
I thought he would include the toyota solara
they are still made they are just not imported into the united states cuz of omissions I have a magma one 2013 80k trail miles fully modified regeared her too.
They were basically a re-bodied Gen 5 4Runner which we all know are indestructible.
People bought them, for the looks. Big heavy off road vehicles, to use on pavement as a daily driver! This guy found a one in a thousand, that may be left in good condition.
What an incredible deal and vehicle!!
If it’s hard for you to find a land cruiser, get the LX 570 same thing but more luxurious and find them now 78 910 years old in the 150 thousand miles club
They re-release the land cruiser with a V6. I would pay new price for a nice older V8 with decent miles because I spent the money on a new one.
Many have never forgiven Honda for dumping the Element. My sister’s boyfriend has a 2011 FJ Cruiser. He needs to keep it!
This is a Video from 3 Years ago, in your Playlist 🤔???
Its funny cause they still sell the FJ Cruiser in southeast asia. Here in the Philippines they want a lot of money for them. New or used. All toyota trucks and SUVs sell for a lot here. Which the biggest truck they sell is a Hilux. Which a top of the Line GR sport will run you 2,139,000 peso.
While not in this video, we’ve owned a 2008 Lexus GX 470 since 2010. Today it looks, runs, and drives like new with 200,000 miles. Land Cruiser Prado TOUGH.
The Fj cruiser was the biggest junk we bought, problems everywhere. We had a tacoma and that was a tank
I always wanted to buy one of those are they still good today????🎉🎉
scotty i wanted to buy i water temperature guage for my toyota voxy 2018 but i wanted to know which one is the best, is it the obd2 plug in one to the computer or the one that u have to attached the sensor cord to the radiator hose?????
