For 23 years Aussies travelled the world on these beauties. Orchestras, rugby teams, cricketers, backpackers, retirees....they took Aussies to the world. I have my own sweet memories of seeing the flying kangaroo, a piece of home a long way from home at airports round the globe. It told me loved ones were not far away. Maybe it was this emotion that buggered the QF business model and sent the airline to the wall. Not sure whether A380 was the solution, but I'll never forget my first flight on a 400 to London in 1991. The flex of the wings and engines bouncing around on kings ford smith Tarmac. That was when the Flying Kangaroo was the Spirit of Australia.
I am (No Joke) going to cry on the last flight on a Qantas 747 - The 744 has ferried me around the world my whole life. Sydney to New York, Singapore to London. I honestly don't like the A380 one bit - I have flown on the A380 twice (Qantas) 4 times Emirates. I just find that the 747 feel's like home :) Hope you have a great day :D
yeah that is true, i know what you mean, the 747 is an icon of aviation, almost EVERYONE knows what a 747 is, primarily due to the recognizable iconic hump, its one of the best looking aircraft out there, 747 FTW!!!
Heartbreaking to watch---and what a great, short, lightly laden take-off run befitting her final flight to VCV... She WAS the most beautiful bird in the world while she wore her 'Wunala Dreaming' Livery... How great it was to see her back then, especially if together with sister-ship, -300 Classic 'Nalanji Dreaming'... those were our days :-)
Mankind has always had a thing for flight and id like to say theres none better than the queen of the skies 747, and also the 777 which i flew on recently from doha to melbourne, i loved it (not as much as 747 though)
Ohh, that gave me shivers down my spine. Very sad to see these 747-400s go. I still remember when OJB was secretely locked away in the hangar to be painted up as Wunala Dreaming. She arrived into HKG shortly ahead of Ansett's maiden overseas flight with its "Spaceship" and stole the show (and the press!). I'll miss working on board this plane :-(
I would like to see it happen, but the vast majority of orders have been for the cargo version. Personally, I think Boeing has done a lousy job advertising the 748i. For example, how many 747-400 pilots know that they only need three days of training before transitioning to the 748i??
Airlines see their airplanes like an object to make money!!! We all know that an aircraft has a lifetime but I am sure that the crew that flew it for 23 years see it as a coworker so it's sad for us (Pilots) when this have to happen. It's like to say goodbye to a friend! :(
What is wrong with this aircraft.. Damn, the -400 should still be flying. Lucky KLM has got the -400 and MD-11 still. but that isn't gonna take longe time's.

+inthedesert2008 Well said, i totaly agree with you.

did you cry on the last flight
I flew on this plane from Singapore to Sydney in June of 2008. I'll never forget...
One word on American vs Euro.
Concorde. Never been a plane so breathtaking.
I flew on VH-OJB FRA-SIN-SYD in October 2009. Farewell, Mt Isa, and thank you :').
Farewell my lovely queen.... you were as wondrous today, as you were 23 years ago...
Too young to leave us...
Farewell, beautiful girl. Thanks for all the safe journeys.

great moving taxi shot mid vid...also never realised Qantas have their own tugs in LAX
Mankind has always had a thing for flight and id like to say theres none better than the queen of the skies 747, and also the 777 which i flew on recently from doha to melbourne, i loved it (not as much as 747 though)
Excellent filming and an excellent aircraft. I've probably flown on OJB at some point over the years.
A true sad sight.... Farewell Mt. Isa!!! Thanks you so much. Amazing video! ;)
The first ever 747 I ever flew in when it was Wunala Dreaming.
Damn I'm gonna miss these graceful ladies
Ohh, that gave me shivers down my spine. Very sad to see these 747-400s go. I still remember when OJB was secretely locked away in the hangar to be painted up as Wunala Dreaming. Excellent video of the Qantas B747 takeoff! Liked!
Nice!! Although I like the A380 more, but I am still sad to see these workhorse retire!!
Flew her form San Francisco to Brisbane. Very nice aircraft.
A 747 first officer once told me that discounting the forward speed of the aircraft, it rises at the rate of 70mph!
Hard to believe the 744s are leaving.
Amazing shooting, credits for a good job! But what a shame this aircraft gets stored in a desert, it belongs in the skies...
My favorite bird in the sky, boeing 747😀😁😁
2 questions....1. What airport were you at? & 2. How the phuck do you get a ride like that to shoot video? that was awesome....
may we see the long version of this beautiful video?
I think they're both great (747/A380)
Agreed; if it ain't Boeing, I ain't going. :)
What a beautiful aircraft such a shame it’s no longer in service, flew on many of them but never with Qantas, sorry but you were crap ❤️
VH-OJB - Mt. Isa (1st Wunala Dreaming)
♥️
I agree, the B747-800I is much better than the A380 :o)
they had their reasons, A380 is way more profitable than any 747 on certain routes
Sad to see the queen retire:( 747 should be the ones to rule the skies not a380!
Turns out this flight to VCV was her second to last take off!
And my blessed 767's are shortly to follow... To convert to scarebus or not convert... That is the question.
nice...
Is always sad see an airliner going to the desert.... :/
I love the qantas 747-400. They should not send it to the scrap
I would like to see it happen, but the vast majority of orders have been for the cargo version. Personally, I think Boeing has done a lousy job advertising the 748i. For example, how many 747-400 pilots know that they only need three days of training before transitioning to the 748i??
I only fly Boeing, hence I now fly to USA with Virgin on the 777. Sorry Qantas you can stick the 380....!
the a380 isn't ugly !!!!!!
Airlines see their airplanes like an object to make money!!! We all know that an aircraft has a lifetime but I am sure that the crew that flew it for 23 years see it as a coworker so it's sad for us (Pilots) when this have to happen. It's like to say goodbye to a friend! :(
Where was this?
Too bad, they should dump the A380's instead.
oh man... :(
747 is better than a380
rooooooooooooooooooo
The original wunala dreaming
What is wrong with this aircraft.. Damn, the -400 should still be flying. Lucky KLM has got the -400 and MD-11 still. but that isn't gonna take longe time's.
THANK s old girl
Better be replaced by a 'ugly' A380 that is a VLA rather than be replaced by a Boring 777-300ER
american engineering BOEING is better than european engineering AIRBUS
No, it isn't.
It's *butt* ugly.
Treetop64 Nothing wrong with the 744
