Defensive style fighters don't sell. Fact. Example: Pernal Whitaker who had a 34%KOratio and one of the most accomplished Champions with titles in multiple weight classes and probably the most accomplished defensive fighter in boxing's recent era, had only one PPV fight. His opponent was Oscar De LA Hoya. ONE PPV FIGHT, ONE! It was Pernal's opponents who put people in seats, not Pernal. Just saying. Boxing is in the hurt business, fans want to see violence and aggression, not tag. This notion of "hit and not get hit" doesn't put people in seats or get PPV buys. And quite frankly, I don't believe those fans, who state they love defensive minded fighters. Pernal Whitaker and Shakur Stevenson don't get standing ovations for their performances. Fighters who KO their opponents do. Didn't we see Terrance Crawford asleep? That kinda says it all..
